1. Easy Keyframe Animation in Blender! : It's time to start
animating in Blender. I'm Drug pre Dave, and in this beginner friendly
animation course, we'll learn how to do Keyframe
animation in Blender. This is useful for
turntables, motion graphics. I use it for all my
YouTube logo animations. You can make full
on animations with just Keyframes. Here's a proof. Keyframes are really
basic and easy ish. They're a great first step
into animation with Blender. So in my Blender for
beginners Tutorial, here on Skillshare, we made
a whole lot of shapes. So today, we're gonna learn
to animate those shapes. But if you're just jumping
in for the animation, you can download my project
file and use those shapes. Now, there are lots of other
ways to animate and Blender. Keyframe animation is by far the most simple,
so let's start there. Alright, it's time to step it up and start animating and Blender. We'll keep it simple,
we'll keep it chill, and we'll just make some collar. Alright, that's all I got. Keep drawing, keep sculpting, and I look forward

2. Class Project: So for today's class project, we'll create some
video animation and motion using Keyframes. I'll be exporting video
at ten ADP vertical because I really
don't need four K or a really large file size. We'll export each frame of
our animation as a PNG, but I'll also show you how to export just the whole
thing as a video file. So you can do it either way. One is supposed to be a little
bit better than the other. I'm going to go over both, but, of course, if you export PNGs, you will need some other
editing software like Final Capro or Dave or
something like that, just so you can stitch
the frames together. So this is a carryover from my Blender for beginners
Tutorial here on Skillshare, but it might be easier just
to download my project file. That way we can
work step by step. The setup will be the same, and all the elements will
be exactly the same. That'll just be easier and smoother for us to do
everything at the same pace. And as always, feel
free to be creative. You can follow along, but
if you want to change the color or change
the intensity of something or
change the material, whatever you want to do, don't hesitate to do that.

inspired so that you keep going. So, right, let's jump into the next video where
we can finally start. Well, we'll set up our scene, and then we'll jump
into the animating.
3. Getting Started: So let's go ahead
and open up Blender. Okay, so the first
thing we want to do is open the project
that I included. Okay, so we'll go to File Open, Blender
Keyframe download. So we'll tap on that
and then hit Open. And I'm using the Animation tab. You can set them to
whatever you want. This one here is my
three D view port. Here's another window with
my three D view port. And down here, this
is the timeline. So this is where we'll add the Keyframes for the animation. Okay, so let's set up
our scene a little bit. First, let's go to
the left hand side and hit Z and rendered. So now you're seeing a
rendered version of the scene. I like to do a lot of my edits on this window,
and this is solid. So if you go to Z,
this one is solid. So here's all of our meshes,
all of our shapes here. And if you go down, you see this little squiggly
line, that's animation. So you can see this
empty has an animation, and we'll talk about
empties in a moment. This plane, let's
see what this is, which is it this little cross
here also has an animation. So all of these, I've set to do little animations already, but I'm going to
delete those so we can just start from zero. And I brought in this
Skillshare word, as well. So let's go down here
to our render settings. You just want to make sure
your device is to GPU compute. You want to make sure
that your settings are the most efficient. So if you hear your fan going
a lot for your computer, if you have a PC, you might want to try to switch
to GPU compute. It's all kind of computer
dependent on what you have. But in my case, for my computer, I put everything to GPU compute, and it's way better than CPU. Okay, so for MAC samples, if you go down here to render, MAC samples is at 300. And let's go ahead and
select motion blur. And if your colors
are not popping, if you've done if you're doing things in Blender and your
colors just seem a bit dull, you can always come
to color management, and you can adjust this. So right now we have
standard look none. So you might want
to go to medium contrast, something like that. You can go to none. You
can change this to Kronos, which is a lot more kind
of rich and saturated. So there's a lot
of things that you can do just to make it
a little bit better. That's just a little
tidbit that I always do when I'm trying to set up a scene because sometimes it can just
look a bit dull. So let's go to the
next one down, this little printer,
which is output. And right now, this
scene is pretty big. So this is like a four K scene because I was using
this to make, like, an intro for my video. So I needed it to be for YouTube, so that's
why it's four K. You can press these
settings, and right now, I'm going to go to Vert HD, and this one I added. So what you'd have
to do is you can set these to whatever
numbers you want, and then you can go out here
and hit the little plus, and it'll add whatever you set. So, for example, this
number is vertical. I think it's 1080
by 1080 by 1920. So if you set that in and then
you go here and hit Plus, then it will be that resolution. But that'll be the
scale of the video. I'm going to go to frame rate, and I'm going to
change this to 24. Right now, these are the frames, so it's going to start at frame
one and end at frame 250, and we'll bring that down, but we can do that
a little bit later. So let's go down to output. So this is where your
PNG images will go. So that's where
they will render. So let's hit this little folder. And now you can just save them in somewhere on your computer. I have a dedicated folder. I'm going to add a new
one, and let's just do Keyframe animes animations. So we'll accept that
and you'll see it here. So it's going to go to
Keyframe animations. And here's some other details, obviously PNG, this and that. And the reason why we do images, PNG images, let's say we were doing something
that's 250 frames. So if it went to 100
and then it failed, if we were exporting a video, the video would be corrupted
or just wouldn't work, and you'd have to start
back over from zero. And also the quality probably
wouldn't be as good. So what we're doing
is we're exporting each individual frame. So if something happens at 100 or if the frame
is messed up, it will keep going and then you can find the image
and say, Oh, that's weird. 100 kind of got messed up. You can just go
back to frame 100, and then you can just
render out that one frame. So that's why we do the
file format as PNG. So here's some buttons up here. Obviously, this goes
to the beginning. This will go to the next
Keyframe in the scene. So right now, I'm on Skillshare, and
there's no Keyframes. But that's what this
middle button does. This plays and obviously
this goes to the last frame. So you can see that I have done a lot with
this little animation. You can see it just
kind of scrolls in. And I have some lights
moving and things like that. So let's set our scene to 80. So right here, we
have start at one. Let's set the end frame to 80. Okay? So then down here, you
should see one through 80. And let's figure out what shape
we want to actually move. So we're going to
do 360 degrees, which is like a Turntable. So let's choose something
like this little plus sign. So let's find it over here. It says plane. So I'm going
to rename this to plus one. Okay, let's find it. Okay,
now we have plus one. Okay, so I'm going to go
ahead and erase all of my animations here because
I want to start fresh. But let's do something before
we jump to the next video. Let's hit Shift A, and let's go down to empty and then go down to cube.
And let's tap a cube. Okay, so right here, we
have a cube which you can move around and
use these to move. So here's the cube.
And this is an empty. So let's find it over here on the right. So
this is an empty. So an empty is almost just
like an empty shape or frame. To animate the Keyframes, we're actually going to
bind a shape to this empty. So we're going to
bind it together. So that way, all we have to
do is animate the empty. Now, we can animate
the shape, too, but sometimes it's just a bit easier to animate and empty. For example, if you have four
or five different things that are connected to the shape, you would just add one empty and everything would animate
according to the empty. So it's just a
little bit easier, and it just makes animating with Keyframes a lot easier
to use and empty. Not in all situations, but in most situations
in my experience. So let's hit X and delete
the empty for now, and let's choose the shape
that we want to animate. Okay? So now we want to right click Snap, cursor to selected. So what we're doing is
we're putting the cursor, which is usually the
middle of the project. We're putting it
in the middle of what we want to animate. And if for some reason, you
notice that your shape, when you add the empty to the shape,
it's not in the center. What you can do is right
click on the shape, go up to set origin. Origin to geometry. So what that does,
it's going to set the origin of the
object to the center. So then you can go
ahead and click SNAP cursor to selected. And now it'll be exactly in
the middle of your object. And the reason we're
doing that is now when we add an empty
or any other shape, it will spawn right
at this cursor. So Shift A Okay, we're gonna go to empty
and we'll do cube. So now you see the cube is around the shape that
we want to animate. Okay, so that's good for now. So we'll come back and we'll I'm gonna clear
all this and then we can come back and start fresh and start adding Keyframes.
4. 360 Spin (Turntable): Okay, so you'll see
over here on the right, I got rid of all of
those little animations, so nothing should move when I go back and forth
on the timeline. So what I want to do is
delete some of these shapes. So I'm just gonna delete
some of these shapes in the background just to kind of clear up our
scene a little bit. Okay, I'll get rid of, uh I'll get rid of the war. I'll leave it for
now. You know what you can do? You can go
over here on the right. You can also just
hit both of these to kind of hide things that you're not sure you
want to get rid of. Okay, I'm gonna get rid of
some of these little marbles. Okay. And you can also
move things over. I'm gonna move these
down a little bit. And I'm going to take my camera, and I'm gonna move that
just over a little bit, and maybe I'll rotate it
a little bit, as well. So you just want to get, make
sure everything's in frame that you want nicely in frame. And one of the things I'm
doing here is I'm just trying to I'm just trying to
put things Whoops. I'm just trying to even out
our frame which you see here. So it's nice to have some
things in the background, something sort of
falling out of frame. So that's all I'm doing is just kind of spreading
everything out, so it looks so it looks good. And it looks like
these are connected, so I'm going to hit Shift and move them both at the same time. Put this up a little higher. Okay, so this looks a little bit more spread
out, which is nice. So one thing I just want to make sure you have in your
scene is this empty here, and this is the focus ring. So if we go over here, you can see this is an empty, and I'm going to double click on it and call it focus ring. Now, if you don't have that, it doesn't matter
where you place it. Hit Shift A, empty
and add a circle, and it will add a
circle like this, which you can then just
find and name focus ring. I'm going to delete that one. So this focus ring
is what we want our camera to focus on. So if you go over
here and you go to camera and down here, you see this little
camera that shows up. If you go down to Depth of
Field and that's checked, then you can go
down to focus Ring. So if this isn't
here, just press the little eyedropper
and you can go to you can actually go to it on the screen, focus ring. Whoops. I think I might
have done the wrong one. Let's try that
again. Focus ring. Okay, so let's just
double check the camera. Camera, we go down, and now it's focusing
on the focus ring. So with this, you can move
this forwards and backwards, and it will change the focus. So if we go back to the camera, right now, the Ftps at F 0.1. So, I mean, this isn't really we could do this
without moving the focus, but I just think it looks nicer to have some
depth of field. So that's why I'm
going to keep it in. So what we'll do is we're just going to move
this focus ring. Two hour plus sign right here or whichever thing
you want to animate. So that way, it's going
to stay in focus. Okay? So we'll just
leave that there. And if it gets a little too
if it's too much in the way, you can always go
to the focus ring, and you can just
tap the eyeball. So that means that
everything is going to be exactly as it should. It's just not going to
show up in our preview. Like it's not going
to show up here, but it's still there
and everything is working exactly
like it should. Alright, so let's go
back to our empty here, which is let's rename
this plus empty. Okay, so plus empty is
around our plus symbol, so we need to add
Keyframes to this empty. So let's go to this little
notch here and go to item. And this is the location, the rotation, and the scale. So if we want to spin it using Z, it's going
to spin like this. I'm going to hit Control Z
just to go back to zero. But it's only
spinning the empty. We need it to spin this shape. So we're going to
tap on the shape. We're going to hold
Shift, tap on the empty, and then make sure your
cursor is on this screen. You don't want it to be like
over here or something. Just make sure it's on
this screen and hit Control P and then
object Kube transform. So now, when you go over
to this plus empty, this is nestled underneath. So when you just tap on empty and we go back to this
item over here with the Z, you can see that our item is
actually spinning as well. So down here at the timeline, we want to go to one, and we want to set our
first Keyframe. So what we're going
to do is go to this Z and hit I
on the keyboard. I right click Insert Keyframe, although I is easier, but you can always right click
and set the Keyframe. So now that this
Keyframe is set, I'm just going to hit I over
all of these just in case. So this is the first
frame, and it's at zero. So if we go to 80, so if we go to the last
frame and then we change this to 360 and hit Enter, see how it's orange, that needs to be yellow. So
we need to hit I. So now we have two Keyframes Okay. And
now it's gonna spin. Now, notice that it's not
spitting not spinning. It's not spinning at
a constant speed. And this is a little
bit technical. I guess everything's a little
bit technical with Blender, but I want to show you
why that's happening. So what it's doing is it's
easing into the spin, and then when it gets to
the end, it's easing out. Which is nice, you know, which is very nice sometimes, but you might want to change it. So what I'm going to do is
I'm going to go to the end of this frame so you'll see
the little cross hair, and then I'm going to tap
and pull over see this line. So this is going to open
a second window here. I'm going to close that. So now we have two windows here. I'm going to close
this too. I don't know why it does that. And we're going to switch
this to the graph editor. Okay, so we have our timeline
here, which is the same. I'm going to go ahead
and move this over, so we have our timeline. And then over here we
have the graph editor. So let's go to view. And let's go up to
frame selected. Okay? So this should show a little bit of an easier graph. So right here, it's easing in, steady, steady, steady, and
then it starts to ease out. Let's see if we
select all of these. Right click interpolation
mode linear. And now you see it's
much different on here. So now it's just
spinning at that rate. We can select both of these frames or both
of these Keyframes, right click interpolation mode, and then let's see if
we go back to Bezier, then it sets it as a Bezier. So that's a little bit easier. Just select your
frames, your Keyframes, right click interpolation,
and you can set it to linear Bezier Bezier. And since we're here
in the graph editor, I'm going to take
this node Okay? So I'm going to take Oops. I'm going to take this
one here and I'm going to pull it and see how
that curve changes. And now I'm going to
take the bottom one, and I'm gonna pull that. So now it's easing longer, and then it's a faster spin in the middle, and
then it eases out. So let's see what that
looks like. Much different. And you can play around
with that, obviously, and you'll get very
different animations. Okay, I'm going to control Z because the other
one looked the best. So that is a quick and
dirty on the graph editor. I know it's a bit complicated. So if that's too much, just forget about it.
Don't think about it. But you'll know what's
there when you need it. Let's get out of
the graph editor. I'm going to tap right here
on the edge of our timeline, and I'm going to drag it till
you see that little arrow, and it's going to overtake
that and make it go away. That's what we want. Okay, so now for a little test or just to kind of practice, you can take some of
these other shapes and you can add
Keyframes to them. So the quick and dirty, what I did is I select the
shape, right click on it. I'm going to set the origin to geometry just
in case it's not. That way we know the
origin is the center. So that was the
first right click. The second right click
SNAP cursor to selected. So we're taking the cursor and we're putting it in
the center of this object. The cursor is just where
the shapes pop up. So now we're going to shift A, add an empty cube. You can hit S to make
it smaller if you want. Okay, so now we have our
cube and we have this, so we need to bind them. So we'll tap the little plus, shift, and then tap
the empty, Control P. Okay? So now they're binded. So now we just go to the empty, and then we make our Keyframes. Well, actually, let's
start it. Let's start at the first one. Number one. So we'll hit I s. We'll hit
I and then we'll go to 60. Oh, actually, let's
go let's go to 40. And let's make this 360. Okay, we'll enter.
Now it's orange. We need to hit I
to make it yellow. And then let's go to 80. Let's go back here
and hit zero again. And then let's hit
I to lock it in. Okay, so now we have these two animations at different speeds. Okay, so now you have
these other objects, you can feel free to
practice with those. I think that'll
be an easy way to kind of kind of
get this lockdown. Once you get it, it's
really, really easy. It's really simple
to make things spin. So, of course, there's other ways that you
can use the Keyframes. So, for example, if I tap
on this shape, right click, I'm going to snap
the cursor to it, Shift A, and I add an empty, I'm going to add a cube. I'll make it a little
bigger by hitting S and just moving the mouse, even though it doesn't
really matter that much where it is. Okay. Now I'll
select both of them, making sure that the
empty is selected last. Control P, which is set
parent. That's what that is. So you want to set a parent, Control P object
to keep transform. So now they're binded. So
now we just take this. And let's say we want the
location. So we hit I. Well, it looks like on our
timeline, we were at five. Let's bring it to actually,
let's bring it to ten. So ten is our Keyframe. And let's go to let's go to 50. Let's go to 45, and
let's move it down. Maybe I don't want it to
go all the way through. So I'm gonna move it
there. Notice that it's orange, so I'm gonna hit I. Okay. So now when I hit
Spacebar, this is gonna go down. Space Bar plays the animation, by the way. We'll go to 50. Now let's hit I for location. Okay? So now, this means
that it's the same location. And then at 70, we want
to match this Keyframe. So we'll take this Keyframe.
We'll click on it. Control C. We'll go
to 70 and Control V. Okay, so the very last thing, let's make sure
that we're naming our empty so we don't
get them confused. And that's it for now. I
think, in the next video, we will just do some other manipulations using
the Keyframes. Great job so far.
5. Squash & Stretch: So let's set some
other Keyframes for some other
objects in our scene. So here we have this red
kind of looks like a gummy, but it's like a little, you know, YouTube symbol, whatever. So first, I'm going
to take these two, and you can just do this with a square or something if you want. It doesn't have
to be this shape. So I'm going to take these two. I'm going to hit Shift
and select them both. And then I'm going to hit
Control J to join them. So now that they're one piece, so when I animate it,
it'll be one piece. Alright, so I'm
going to hit one. So this just shows
me the front view. And we have all these
other things in the scene. So if we want to
clear those out, there's a few ways
you can do it. So next to your right shift key, there's, like, the
backspace button. So if you're on a mesh and
you hit the backspace button, it'll just single out that mesh, and you just hit it
again to go back. So I'm going to tap this and I'm going to
tap the background. And I'm going to
hit the space bar. So now all we have
is those two shapes. And now I'm just going
to tap the little gummy, so I just have that
shape isolated. Okay, so if I want to
make this shape bounce, and this is it here, let's turn off the depth of
field so it'll be clear. So let's just go to our
camera up here on the right. So we'll go to the camera and let's just turn
off depth of field. So now everything
should be clear. So there's a few things
that we should do first. So when you're working
with Keyframes, so down here, there's
this little button here. If you tap that, it's red. So that's going to
record any change you make. You don't have to hit I. So let's say we take
this and we move it. Let's use the gizmo
here and we move it. It's going to set a Keyframe. If we go here and
then move it down, it's going to set a Keyframe. So I'm going to delete Control Z to go back to the beginning. So if I want to
make this bounce, I want to squash it first, and then have it sort of
jump up and stretch and then fall back down and squash
into the original shape. That's the basics that's the basics of what
I want to do here. So it's a little involved, but it's just one of
those things that is really fun for
Keyframe animation. So I want to show you.
I think you can get. So I'm going to start
it at maybe frame five. Well, I started at frame I
started at frame 15, actually. I want a little
space, so, you know, this is gonna if this loops, so it's not just going
right into the action. So frame 15 is where the
animation will start. But we're going to do
a few things here. We're going to change
the origin point because we've been
using it in the middle, so we're going to change
it to the bottom. And also, we're not going
to use a empty for this. You can use an empty,
but we'll just not use an empty and
see how it goes. So the first thing we
need to do is change the origin point to the bottom. So you can see I
already have my cursor here because I was
testing it out, so I'm just going
to put it back to where yours is probably. So what we need is we
need the cursor to get on the bottom middle part
of this little cube. So I'm just gonna hit the
space, the back space. So we're just seeing this cube. So let's hit the tab
to go into Edit mode, and there's no vertice
on the bottom. So we're setting when we
want to set the cursor, which is going to be
where our origin is, it gets tricky because
you can only set it to, like, one of these
vertices, like a point. So if I right click,
Snap vertices, cursor to select it. So I can set the cursor
to one of these, but it doesn't really
help us because if we're going to be animating, like, if we're
gonna be moving it, we want it to be on
the bottommost spot. And it'll make sense
once we start animating. So what we have to do
is go to so up here, just hit this faces. Now you can go down
and tap the bottom. So now we can manipulate this
bottom face of this cube. So what we have to do is
right click and subdivide. So we subdivided the one
cube into four cubes, giving us a vertice
in the middle. So if we go up here to the left, this vertice, now we can just
select that middle vertice. We can right click
Snap vertices, and then we can snap
cursor to selected. So now we have the
cursor on the bottom. So we can hit tab to go
into regular object mode, and now you see the
cursor is at the bottom, and that's exactly
where it should be. So now we'll right
click Set origin, origin to three D cursor. So now the origin of this
object that we have selected, the origin is going to
be the three Dcursor. So I'm going to hit one
to look straight on. And also, if it's
not an orthographic, you might have to press
this little thing here. Orthographic is a lot easier. So the reason why we
want the origin to be on the bottom is because when we bounce and
do things like that, let's say we stretch
it, we don't want the bottom
to move you know, we don't have to worry about
the bottom doing that. So when we jump, it's fine. If we stretch, it's still
going to be the bottom. So that's going to help us
out a lot with animating. Okay, so now let's hit Backslash so we can
bring back everything, and then we'll select the
cube and the background, and then we'll hit
Backslash again. So this way, we only have
these two objects showing. So that's going to
be a lot easier. And also, honestly, if it's
easier, let's do this. Just because that might
be a little confusing, you can select all
of these shapes. All of these shapes, and you
can just turn these off. Okay, we can hide
these, as well. Okay, so that might be
a little bit easier. You can move this one around and kind of move in and
just see what you got. So when we're thinking
about animating this, we're starting at 15. We want to set the
first Keyframe, so we do have to make sure that we have the item
out, this item menu. I, I, I on all three of those. So that's just setting
the first Keyframe. Anything else,
when we move this, we don't have to set it. So now let's say we go to
20 and we want it to jump. So we want it to kind
of go down and squash. This scale tool is pretty nifty, so we can tap on the
scale tool and see these little these little
flat things right here. So if I have this, let me zoom out so you can see
on this flat thing, if I if I go like that,
it's going to squash it. Okay, so let's say we
do something like that. So you can see in here it's squashed. But it's not enough. Let's say we want to use this little blue box to squash
it down a little bit more. Okay, so now it's squashed. And now, let's say
we want to go to 25. Now, let's take the
first Keyframe. Let's do Control C. Make
sure that this is on 25, Control V, and your
Keyframe will show there. So now you have
something like that. Okay, so now, let's say we
go two frames off at 27. And let's go to this one. Now let's move it
up to about there. Now, remember we have
this red dot selected, so we don't have to hit
I every time we move it, it's gonna automatically
record our Keyframe changes. So let's go back to the scale, and let's use the
blue one again. But this time, instead
of, like, scrolling down, we're going to scroll
the opposite way or left and see how
it's, like, skinny. Okay, that's pretty good.
So let's check it out. Alright, let's see
what it looks like. It's actually not bad. It's
a little small, though. So I say that we need to
stretch it a bit more and maybe just make the whole
thing a little bit bigger. Okay, so now we have
something like this. So I'm going to select
all these Keyframes, and I'm gonna move them a
little bit closer, maybe to 18. So you just drag cause I want the squash to
be a bit quicker. Okay, so that looks pretty good. So let's move let's
see two more frames. We'll move it a
little bit higher. And let's hit I for all
these other options. Okay, so now if we
select this Control C, and then we go to 29
and then Control V, we should have
these, which means it's the same exact frame. So let's see what we have.
I'm just gonna hit Space bar. Okay. Okay, so that looks pretty good. So now let's go to
30 let's go to 34. And we're gonna want to match
maybe maybe this Keyframe. So we're going to hit
Control C on the 23rd frame, and then we go to 34 Control V. Okay? So now it's up.
Oh, you know what? But it's actually
flattening out before that. So what we can do, let's
take 29 and copy that one. So Control C, and then
we're going to bring that to this frame and hit Control
V. So we'll copy that one. But this one let's bring it down let's bring it down
a little closer. Maybe right above. So
let's see what we have. Okay, and this
chump can happen a little bit faster 18-23. So I'm going to select
all of these Keyframes and just slide them over a bit. Okay, that's great. So now let's flatten it out. So let's go back
to this flat one. And I'm just gonna hit I just so it matches
exactly this Keyframe. And then I'm going to copy it. Control C, and then let's go to let's go to 32
and hit Control V. Okay, so this might have
been the wrong one. I'm gonna hit X, delete
those Keyframes. I want this squash. So Control C on frame 18, 32, Control V.
Yeah, there we go. So I want that squash. So let's see. Okay,
it looks pretty good. It's a bit big, though. So I'm just gonna hit S and
scale it down a little bit. You want to make
sure the volume of the cube stays
somewhat consistent. I might do the same thing on 18, just hit S and scale
it down a little bit. It just looks very big. Okay. That looks good. So now let's take 32. We'll copy that one, Control C, and let's go up to 35. We'll paste it there. And let's paste it at 30. Let's paste it at 40 as well. Okay, so now we can go to 35, and let's just adjust this a little bit so it looks like
there's some bounce to it. So I'm gonna go back to scale
that worked pretty well. It would actually be thinner. So that might actually
look a bit better. Okay, let's make it a little bit bigger and maybe just the whole thing a
little bit thinner. There we go. Let's see. Okay,
I think that looks great. You can add some
extra little bits. If I do Control C to copy
this, I can move it down to, like, maybe there and
then maybe there. Okay? So this tall,
a little bit short. So maybe I go like
this and I do it wide. And I do this one a
little bit tall again. This might be a little
bit too squashed. And this might be a little bit too as the bounce peters off, it should just get
less and less intense. So, yeah, that
looks pretty good. So I just continue
to edit it until it looks natural like it's
really hitting the ground. So that's one of my favorite
things to do with Keyframes. So hopefully that wasn't too
confusing because literally, I could just animate
little things like this all day long.
It's so much fun. And also, just
remember to turn this off because sometimes you can leave it on and
accidentally make changes that you don't
want to be recorded. So just remember that
this is only good if you're really working fast and you want to record
everything that you do, all your Keyframes, otherwise,
you can turn this off. Okay, so when we come
back, we're gonna do some fun Emission Keyframes.
6. Camera & Emission Keyframes: Okay, so I just want to show you some other things that
you can add Keyframes to. You can add Keyframes to
pretty much everything. So let's go down to our camera. Okay. Let's scroll out here. And here you see the camera. And let's bring all of
these other pieces back. So we're just going
to scroll up and just make all these other
things visible again. Gonna bring back the empties. Okay, so on the
left screen here, I'm going to hit zero, which will bring you to
the camera view. Okay, we're on
frame 46 down here. So we'll just go all the
way to the first frame. So let's say we wanted to maybe we want to start
in closer and then back up. So we'll take this camera. Okay. And actually, let's hit this little
recorder, as well. So for the first frame, let's
say we want to move it. There's a few things
with the camera. You can see that the
Gizmo is not really aligned with the camera because
it's up here orientation. It's in Global. So let's
change that to local, and that will set the
gizmo up to the camera. Okay, so let's move in. And maybe we want to
rotate it a little bit. Maybe like this. So you can rotate it. You can do it however you like. I think that looks pretty good. So now let's go to
the last frame. So we're gonna hit
this jump to endpoint. And let's back up. So maybe around maybe around there. Okay? So now the
camera will move. Now, you can add a frame,
let's say, in the middle. Let's go back to Global. So now I can move it,
like, straight down. I'm going to switch
back to local and maybe just rotate it up a bit. Okay, so now let's
see how that looks. So now it's coming in, and
it has a little bit of a So I think I would like this if it
was a little bit lower, actually, and maybe point
it a little bit more up. So you can rotate,
play with your camera, and that's always gonna affect just how you're scene looks. That looks pretty cool. Okay, so like I said, you can set Keyframes for your camera and everything
works exactly the same. You can hit I or you can hit
this little record button. Once you do a few things,
it'll be second nature. So the next thing I want
to show you is not only do you want to do the camera, but let's go back
to depth of field. Okay? And then we'll
go to the focus ring, which is that circle empty. So right now the focus
ring is right here, so we're on the first frame. And let's say we want it to be on the little this
little guy at first. So we want it to focus here at first on this. So
then it moves along. We move back. So maybe at 25, this moves to maybe around here. Okay? So first, that's in frame. And of course, let's
say you want this to be stay in frame a
little bit longer, you can go to ten, and then you can move
this a little bit. So now that'll stay in
frame a little longer, and then it'll switch to this. You can see it moving here. That little circles moving. Stays there, maybe at 50. Maybe at 50, it jumps
to these little guys. Oh And then maybe at 80. Let's see. Let's go to 60 and let's we
can move it a little bit. We can just move
it a little bit. So I'm moving a
little bit so it will register that it moved. The same as hitting I, but, you know, just so it
registers the move. So it sticks there for
a little bit of time. And then maybe at 75, it moves up to here. So it'll move up to this point. Okay. And maybe I'll
make my animation. I'm going to change it to 150. And let's go to the camera. And I want to maybe I want to put something right
here on this pedestal. So for the camera,
it's ending here, but maybe I want to
stretch this a little bit and then go out
to 130 perhaps. And let's see. I'm going to
put it down a little bit more over a little bit more and maybe back
a little bit more. Oops. So we'll move it back. So if I put something
on that pedestal, the pedestal will
be nicely framed. So maybe that's the
end frame here. And that's in focus. So now we have that. It's moving along. Okay, so one note that I always do when I'm
making animations is sometimes I'll just get rid of one and just see how it looks. It might be a little
bit smoother. So that look nice and smooth. So the only thing that
I might want to do is put let's bring back
this Skillshare word. And maybe we'll put it on
top of this little pedestal. So now I'm just using the
gizmo and using S to rescale. But other than that,
I'm just using the Gizmo to move it around. Okay, I'm going to
hit one, and I'm going to move it down just so
it's spread on the surface. I think I want it
on the surface. Alright, so now we
have this Skillshare. And you notice, even
though I move this, this is the Keyframe. It actually made a
Keyframe where I was. So just keep that in
mind when you have this, if you move anything, it's
going to make a Keyframe. So I'm gonna bring this
Keyframe down to one. Okay, and we'll go back
to one and just see. Okay, so it just stays there. Yeah, I think I want to
change this animation. So I think this is in an empty. So remember, this
is in the empty, not the actual thing. So let's go back to the empty. I like this. I like where it
is there on this Keyframe. So we'll just leave that
and I'll just delete these. So I'm deleting the empty, so so maybe what it does is spin. I need to take this Skillshare and then shift and
click on the empty, Control P, and then
just keep transform. Let's just go to the end frame. Should be about
here. Let's go to 140 and let's make this 360. What I? Oh, wait,
it didn't spin. Both of these are 360, so I'm gonna take this
one, go here and hit zero. And now it should
spin. That's perfect. Okay, good. As you can see, sometimes it's a
little tricky to keep everything in check. But just remember you
have your empties. So that made it a lot easier because I can also
take other objects, and I can just put them
with the same empty, and then you just
control the empty. So the only thing that I might
do is take both of these. I'm going to open up
the graph editor again. I'm going to select
both of my Keyframes. I'm going to go to
the graph editor, and I want the end
to be really slow. That's what I'm going for.
So now I'm going to go to view frame selected. I should make it easier. Okay? So now I want to take
the end and stretch it out so that it's really slow towards the end, something like that. So now let's see what happens. That's great. Okay,
so that looks good. And there's other
little things that I might adjust, as well. I might linger a little bit
back here with the focus, you know, things of that nature. Like, I might take this last one and move it up
to, like, maybe here. So that way, it's a
little this kind of comes into focus at the end. But honestly,
that's pretty cool. I might change up some lighting. Oh, I'm not going to show you because this is obvious now, but you can take the
lights, and you can also move them a little
bit if you want. You can set a Keyframe,
you know, to be here, to be 20, set your location, just hit I, and then
you can go to 100. Let's go to Global up here, so I can just move
it left and right, then you can move it like this. Then the light's
going to change. So Emission is something that I think would work
really well for this. So for example, Skillshare. So if we go to right around here when it
starts getting dark, maybe like maybe like 70. Okay, we're on the
Skillshare word. Let's go here to go
to our materials. So we'll hit plus, and let's
just name this word glow. Okay, so now we
have this material, it's just regular white here. So maybe we tap this. So this is leaving a
Keyframe for the color. And then we move to 130. Okay, let's go to the Emission. And let's just mark both of
these here. Let's go back. And also, you can use
this little button here to go back to the
previous Keyframe. Let's set these, as
well, the Emission. Okay? Let's go back to these. So now I want it to be we'll tap the color and then we'll make it
like a green color. And we'll tap the strength
and make that one. There we go. So now
it's going to fade in. And you know,
experiment with it. Like, you might want to
bring this down further, so it's got a little
bit longer of a glow. Like, so I think
this is beautiful. I love it. Love it,
love it. Love it. This. So I think this
is pretty good for now. On the next video, I will
go through exporting. So it's going to export PNGs. And then once it's
exported the PNGs, I'll show you how you
can view it in Blender. But then I'll show you
also how I edit it and make it into an
animation into a video. So you will have to
use some sort of outside editing for that. Like, you can see it in Blender and you can export
a video from Blender. So we'll do that. But I think it's really better
quality if you have Dave or Final Cup Pro
or something like that. I use Final Cup ro, but we'll go over that in the next video.
7. Export & Stitch: Let me hit zero so you
can see my camera view. Okay. So now let's
export our frames. You just want to go over here to your scene collection
and make sure that both the eye and the camera are on for anything that
you want to export, because you don't want to have something like you
don't want to have this off because the
eye means you can see it in the viewport,
but it won't render. And this means
that it'll render, even though you don't
see it in the viewport. So you want to
make sure that you just have these on because sometimes you can
render something and then something is missing. So that's the first thing. And let's go over here
to our render settings. So I'm using cycles
and if you go down to the sampling down to noise
threshold. So there's two. There's one for the viewport. So the viewport
is these windows. And then down here,
this is for the render. So the render is just
your exported image. So it should be this is default. I have mine down to 300. I don't need it that high. And then let's scroll down to motion blur and turn that on. So that way, when
things are moving, they have a more natural
motion blur to them. And then you can go down
to color management. And again, you can
play around with these to get it nice and saturated if
you want it like that. Okay, so we'll go back
up to the output. So let's tap on output. Okay? Here's my resolution. I have 1080 by 1920. Frame rate is 24
frames per second. Okay, down here, the output. So this is where the
animation will go. So you tap this little folder, and then you can just you can
add it wherever you want. So I'm gonna make a new folder here and call it
Keyframes animation. Oh, I give up. Okay. So I'm going
to accept that. So that's where these PNG
images are going to go. So file format is PNG. Okay, so I think
we're good there. We've already checked
to make sure everything is visible as it should. We're going to go to render and we go to Render Animation. So we'll tap Render Animation, and then it's going to
go through and render each one of these frames. Oh, did I turn I
was just thinking, I didn't check to
make sure that I had the depth of field on, but
it looks like it's on. Yes, this is blurry, so
it looks like it's on. I always started in animation, and then I realize I have
to change something, so you'll get used
to that, as well. Okay, so I have a pretty I have a pretty
powerful computer, so it's not doing too bad. So it's already on frame seven, I think, about 1:50. So this is just going to
cycle through all of these, and I'll show you
the final render. Alright, so we've
exported our PNGs, we've exported our frames. So here they are on my computer that I want to do the
editing one through 300. So I did some changes to it. Select them all, and I'm
just going to copy them, and I'm going to bring
them into Final Cut Pro. So this is just Final Cut Pro. I'm just going to paste
them all in there. And you'll be able to do
this with any video editor, you can just drag in the images. So it might be a little bit different depending
on what you're using, but essentially
should be the same. Okay? So here's all our images. So you can see in Final Cut Pro, I set my project up to be the same resolution
as what I exported, so it's in vertical,
and then I'm going to merge all of them till
we have one long frame. So you merge everything into one and then change the speed. So you just make it super fast. 6,000% is usually what I do. Okay? And then we get
something like that. I'll delete this extra space. Okay. And now we can play
our little animation. Let's export right from Blender, and then we can compare the two. Okay, so we also
have the option. If we go back over here
to our export settings, output settings, we had PNG. So let's switch
this to MPEG video. Okay? And then you
have encoding here. So you can switch this to, let's say, MPEG four. Maybe we'll go with
ten output quality. I'm gonna go with
perceptually less, Lossless. Okay? I'm going to output this and we'll see what
the video looks like. Maybe it won't look any
different. We'll see. So now I'm gonna go
back up to render, and I will start this animation. Okay, so I'm gonna
let that play out, and then I'll show you the two back to back

advice for Blender, it's just to keep at it. Blender is notoriously tricky. It can really drive you
nuts and drive you insane, and you're gonna have issues. Like, things are
just going to happen in Blender, unforeseen things. So just make sure
to leave them in the comments or just write the questions so I can check and try to help you
out when I can. Blender can be super annoying. But once you get the hang of it, once you start getting
into your flow, you can really start making some professional
looking things. Like, I love using the motion graphics
for my YouTube videos. Sometimes I should be
working on the video, and I wind up working on
this small little intro for a day. It's
just a lot of fun. So I'm really glad
that you wanted to learn motion and animation. And it's baby steps. So cut yourself some slack. Blender is very difficult, but once you get it, then you got it and you
