1. Introduction to the Class: Hello, everyone. Welcome to my class. In this class, we are going to learn how we can paint these kind of stones and how we can turn them into a sweet decorative Now, you must be wondering what's so special about this class. So here it is. We are going to paint them in a very, very different manner. All the stones will be painted in a different design and will be out of the box. For example, our first stone will be of a bee, and this will look like a bee and we can decorate it in our garden planters. Next, we are going to have stones like this. This is a modern art on which we have done a floral art, and we have used the base as plan. Here one special thing is that we are going to have its small pair with it, a similar looking stone, and we are going to make it in pair. So this was the second stone step, and then we are going to have a video, a lesson regarding this mandala art on stone. This is dot mandala and is kind of a meditative art. So you can also learn how to make these dot mandalas with my previous classes, or you may also learn it in this class itself. This class is self sufficient to explain all the things related to the art we are doing on the stones. Next, we are going to have this big stone, and we're going to paint it multicolors, and we're going to create modern art on it. So this class is all about a fusion of modern art and traditional art, simple art, basic art that anyone can learn and anyone can start. Even if you are a beginner and have no experience of arts and designing or maybe stone painting, even then you can start with the clap to learn something new and to create some amazing decors for your home. Next, for the material that we need for this class, I have discussed everything in the next lesson it says so you can watch it and grab all the things easily around you. Also, there is a project work that's waiting for you at the last of this class. I hope you're going to enjoy this class. This was all for the introduction. Let's see you in the next lesson to start with the material we need for this class. 2. Material Required for Stone Painting: Welcome back, everyone. In this lesson, we are going to discuss the material we need to paint our stones. Firstly, we are going to require the acrylic paints of various shades. Next, we need painting brushes of various size and types. For example, I'm using the flat brush as well as round brush of different thickness. We will use the brushes according to their thickness and the area that we have to paint. Next, I'm here using this white cloth to cover the sheet or the table on which I'm going to work. This will protect my table from all the stains that we will get while painting the stones. Now, we need different types and shapes of stones. These stones are of different sizes and different shapes. The design that we have to choose will be according to the shape of the stone. The shapes decides which type of stone will look how beautiful when the particular design is being painted on it. It is not necessary that all the stones will have the smooth surface. As you can see here, the two small stones have not the same or we can say the smooth surface. They have some different shapes and textures on it, so we have to use the paints accordingly. 3. Preparing the Base: Welcome back, everyone. In this lesson, we are going to prepare the base for our stone painting. For this, I'm using the white paint to paint all the stones with one layer or we can say two layers depending upon the surface of the stone. Here I'm using a thick flat brush that will cover more area with less strokes. I'm going to cover all the stones with white paint first because this helps us to create a smoother vase or we can see a base that is ready to show the colors that we are going to paint with. If we are not going to use white color, then the colors that we are going to use on the stone will have less shine and will not be so bright and will not be very much visible and this will not look good if you are not going to give a base. Giving a base as white helps us to define colors more. Also make sure while covering these stones, you must cover the bottom part of the stone as much as possible. I'm not saying that you have to dip the whole stone in the white paint, but cover the part that is visible from sides or you can say a bit from the bottom of the stones. As you can notice here, I'm using a huge amount of paint on stones to give this a polished look and also using my brush to cover the bottom part of the stones, and I'm covering each and every stone with the same also, if you find that one or two coat is not enough to cover the non uniformity of the stone, then you can put one more layer. That is totally up to you. For example, on this stone, I found that after drying up this stone was not looking very fresh to absorb or to show colors on it. I just gave it one more coat and then it was ready. Similar with you, choose the stones accordingly according to the design you want to create. Also try to cover every portion of the stone so that when you are going to give this a base of another color, for example, in my first stone, I'm going to put black color on it. If I'm going to put black color on it, many of you must be saying that there is no need to put white color if you are putting black color. But I would suggest put white color first, give it a smoother base, give it a base that makes the black color shine and that will be the master stroke of painting the stones. Once you are done with painting them with white colour, keep them aside overnight so that they dry up well, they soak the color well and set and get ready for the next coat of the color. Now here, I'm coating the smallest stone using the black color first. You have to paint it uniformly, and you can notice here that after coating the stones with the white colour, there is less amount of color that you are going to use and it will be shining more. I have covered the stones that I have decided to design with the base of black colour. You may choose the colors according to your design and the creativity that you want to show on the stones. I am using the black base because I have decided to make flowers of white colors. I have decided to make a bee, and for this, I have chosen the stones according to their shape also. The shape of a stone matters a lot because while you have to paint for a bee, for example, then you have to have a stone in the shape of it. For example, this one. This stone is in the shape of a bee, I would say. For example, the front part is having a mouth shape, so I can easily use it for making a bee. This was the basic preparation. Let's move on to the next lesson to paint our first stone. 4. Painting First Stone: Welcome back, everyone. In this lesson, we are going to paint our stone, and for this, I have chosen this small stone on which I'm going to draw a bee. Its front side will be this triangular part, and the backside will be used as the body of this bee. The backside we are going to paint with the body and the front, I'll put eyes and wings of the bee. Here, I'm using a flat brush and I'm checking whether this flat brush will be okay to make the stripes of the bee or not. I found this brush to be very thick as per the surface as the size of the stone is small. Here I have to draw multiple stripes. That's why I'm using small brush in which the thickness of the flat brush is less than the thickness of the brush that we were using earlier. Now let us take yellow color and start painting the stripes. To draw the stripes, we just have to use the backside of this stone. And for this, we are going to have these kind of strokes that are going to be using the flat brush only, and we are going to paint this multiple times so that we can create multiple layers on it because it is not very easy to paint on stones. This will not give a first master stroke to be a perfect stroke. So you just have to do multiple layers in order to create a perfect layer of yellow color over the black color. I'm painting the last stripe as to be on the lower side of the stone also. I'm trying to put multiple layers on it to give it a finished a polished look, and you can use the same kind of a brush to give a polished look or you may use some other colors also. If you prefer favicril colors, so you can go for that. Now let us start making another stripe. Again, we are going to use the flat brush of very less thickness, and we are going to carefully draw the stripe. Make sure that you dip your brush again and again in the colour to put a finished or polished stripe over here. It is fine to put multiple layers to go for multiple strokes and give this a polished look. Do not panic or worry about any stroke that is not perfect. Here you can notice that if we put any small error or any small stroke in the wrong direction, that is also fine. We are not going to put the paint away right now. We are going to clear it later on using the earbud or you may use any stick, wet it, and then clear it out. I'm putting another layer on the previous stripe to cover all the black part that is visible from this yellow colour. It is very, very important that no black part is visible from this yellow stripe or yellow colour. Now, similarly, create the third stripe. You just have to be patient while drawing the stripes because these stripes have to be straight and should cover the exact area, not the complete area and should be similar to each other because this structure of a bee or we can say the body of a bee has a very symmetric color over it, so we have to keep that in mind. Here also we have to go for multiple layers, multiple strokes of yellow colour and also you can notice here that I have made some irregularity in the stripe. So we are going to correct it really soon, so stay tuned. I've done this on purpose so that you can learn how you can correct all the mistakes or errors that you are going to do in your stone paintings. For correcting this, I'm using an ear bud and I'm carefully removing all the extra paint that I've put on the stone. In case you find that the paint is not coming out very easily, you can simply wet your stick or you can say the ear bud a bit and then scroll it over the paint. This will help you to take the paint away easily from the stone. As you can see and notice here that the base, the black color was dried overnight. So that paint was very much set into the stone and will not come out easily by using a one or two drop of water. But the paint that we are doing right now for designing, for example, here, I'm putting yellow color. So for designing, I'm using yellow color, and if I want to take it out right now, it will be very easy for me to put one drop of water and then take it out. This is the trick that we use usually while painting the stones. Now I'm going to use golden colour to make small wings over it, and we are going to use a small round brush for this. I'm using this round brush and putting multiple layers of golden color to make it visible and should shine or bright over the yellow color because golden colour is not very much visible over yellow colour easily. So we have to make it shine and make it bright and make it pop out on color yellow. Now, I'm using white color to give these wings an outline. I'm using this just to outline the wings and to make it pop out on the whole design because these wings are not very much visible on yellow and black colour, so I have decided to give it an outline of white colour to make it pop out and make it visible. Now, I'm using black color and a very pointed paintbrush to put dots on the golden colour wings. This step is just to add detailing to our art piece, and you may also skip this if you don't want to put these dots. This is totally optional. Now, I'm putting black dots on the white outline that we have done to the wings, and this will be very symmetric because we are going to put only one dot at a time. This provides an extra layer of outline to our wings. Now, I'm using these googly eyes of small size to be pasted on the front side of this B. You may also paint it using the white paint and then the black paint. I'm simply using the ugly eyes, and I'm going to paste it using the fabricol. And before pasting the ice, you must check its orientation and a place where you want to place it correctly. Then pick one eye at a time, put one drop of favicol and then press it gently. Hold it for 30 seconds, and then press it gently. After this, leave it overnight to dry and the ice will set properly till the next morning. You may also use any other adhesive like glugen or faviquik, but favicol is more than enough for these googly eyes to be pasted on the stones. Here is the next part for detailing, use the black paint to paint these small lines near the eyes. This is going to add a realistic view to the bee. After this, we are going to use the white paint to make a small smile near the eyes on the mouth of the bee. This is going to be a really, very easy step and it's going to add a great detailing to our stone. And just to decorate it a little more, I'm going to use the white paint and put so many dots near the mouth of the bee to decorate it. And this will be a simple step using the paintbrush. You may also use a toothpick or an very thin earbud also. But I would suggest you to use a paintbrush and put the straight paint dots on it. Just to make it look more symmetric, I'm going to use the white paint and going to put dots on the black paint stripes that we have made on the body of the bee. So you just have to draw dots. Similarly the way you did on the mouth side. But this time it is a straight stripe, black stripe on which we are going to put white dots. This will help us to make it look balanced and symmetric. So after doing this, we are done with our first stone. So this was all about painting our first tone. Let's move on to the next lesson and paint our next tone in the next lesson. 5. Painting Second Stone: Five Welcome back, everyone. In this lesson, we are going to paint our second stone. To paint the second stone, I'm going to use the golden color first, and also I'm going to use a round brush which is very thick. Also, you can notice the shape of this stone is not very much even. I'm going to use this uneven stone to create the design and going to enhance the uneven form of this stone using my design. So I hope you are going to enjoy this journey to create this new and fresh design to decorate it in your homes. Oh so let's start. Firstly, I'm going to use this golden color to create the lines on the uneven form of the stone. Wherever the stone is in some other shape or is not having a smooth surface, for example, here it is going upwards, so I'm going to make the lines according to the shape of the stone. So whether you get the same type of stone or you get some other kind of stone, you can modify the design according to the shape of your own stone. This is a special thing about this design that you can modify it and create a new design every time on every stone. You can notice here that I'm using the golden color and dipping my paint brush, every stroke. Why? Because I want to give it a very dark shade on black stone. I don't want any black pigment to come out of this golden line, that is the whole sole reason I'm giving multiple layers on these lines so that I can cover the whole area using the golden paint. Now you can keep one thing in mind that at every irregularity of the stone, I'm putting the lines. This will help you understand the stone you are using and what kind of design you are going to create on that stone. Because if you are going to include all the irregularities and asymmetric pattern of the stone, then your design will be more beautiful. Try to include all the irregularities using the golden color and paint it accordingly. Here, because of the shape of the stone, I am going to make another line parallel to the first line and going to make this kind of a line over here to cover the asymmetric pattern of this stone. So this was our first step. After doing this, we have to be very careful while handling this stone so that we are not going to ruin our design with our own hands, so we have to be very careful while holding it. Now on the side portions, I'm just making some simple swashes using the golden colour on which we are going to put another design of petals and flowers, and that will shine because of this golden color between those flowers. Yes, we are going to put some swashes. I'm making two swashes on both sides to maintain some symmetric design, but that's going to be not very much symmetric because this is a floral pattern that we are going to add, and this is a a modern art that we are putting on a stone. This is not going to be very symmetric, and yes, it will going to complement the design very well so that it looks a balanced art. Also, I'm making a remarkable, or you can say a noticeable.in the center to show that we are going to have a flower on this side also. This was all for the first step. Let's move on to the next step. Our next step includes white paint because our flowers are going to be very bright and should shine over the black color. So I'm going to use orange color and white color for this. Also, I'm going to use a toothpick as a dotting tool. If you have a dotting tool, you can use that dotting tool to create the dots, and if not, then you can use the toothpicks or earbuds. Now here, try to understand the technique how we are going to make a flower pattern. For this, I'm putting a orange dot at the center of the flower and then using the toothpick from the back side, which is not pointed, I'm putting a dot near that where I have to create a pattern and using the pointed side of the toothpick, I'm spreading it a little towards the orange dot. This is the basic pattern that I'm going to use to create these florals around these golden swashes. Also, you can use a toothpick with a combination of ear word, or you may use dotting tools of different thickness for doing that. One more thing that you have to keep in mind is that you have to use different toothpicks for different colors. If you are going to use orange colour, then use a different toothpick for orange color. If you are using white color, then use a different toothpick for white color. Next thing that you have to keep in mind is that whenever you are putting a dot using the white colour, make sure to spread it or stretch it towards the orange dot instantly. Else, the paints will dry and it will become untidy when you are going to stretch them. So it is advisable to stretch each and every dot. Hand to hand to the orange dot to avoid any untidy look of the art piece. As you can notice here, you can choose the number of petals for the flowers. You can choose the number of flowers on each swashes. That is totally dependable upon the type of stone, the structure of stone, and your wish. All these things when mixed together comes out to be an artifice. For this artfie you are the honor to decide what you actually want to create. You want to create a pebble or a stone that is completely filled with the flowers, or you just want to give it a touch of simple flowers. That depends upon you. You are going to decide whether you want to fill it, whether you want to put a very light and very simple design on the stone. Here I'm keeping it a balanced one. I'm not overfilling it and I'm not putting only just one or two flowers. I'm just simply filling it with some space left Now, as I find there is some space left that I want to cover, there were no swashes of golden color. Still, I'm putting one flower over there. So this is completely optional and you may draw a number of flowers that you want to draw. You can notice here that every flower on the swash was a half flow, not a complete flower. But here, as I have space to make a complete flower, I'm not letting it go, I'm making a complete flower over here. Now, on the other half of the stone, I'm going to use the same method, going to create the same flowers. But here you can notice that I'm not counting the number of flowers. I'm not going to count the number of petals in each flower. I'm not going to make it as it is that was made on one side. This is to be made according to the swishes, according to the space that we have on our stone. And according to the type of design that we want to create, if you want to fill it, then fill completely. If you want to leave some space, you can leave some space. This is completely optional. There is nothing compulsory to match both the sides. You can leave some space extra on one side if you feel that it is looking good by leaving some extra space, and you may leave it. That's completely fine. Also, I would like to mention one more thing here that now one side of the stone is being decorated and we have to hold the stone in our hands. To hold it, you have to be very, very careful. Make sure your hands are holding the stone only from the bottom side and not from the sides. You can also do one thing. You can let the stone dry when you are done from one side, you can let it dry properly, and then hold it in your hands. And I also want to advise you here that whenever you are painting a stone, try to put the stone in your hand and then paint it. This helps us to grip the stone perfectly and then paint it. If we are going to put the stone down on the table, then it becomes a bit difficult for us sometimes to create the same design over and over again. For example, in this design, it was a repetitive design and it becomes difficult to move the stone on the paper or on the table. When you hold it in your hands, it becomes easy for you to tilt it a bit in order to create a better design. Also, it gives you a better insight of what this design is looking on your stone. It is always advisable from my side that hold it in your hands to get a better view of your art on the stone. Next, on this dot where I put a golden dot, I have placed an orange dot over it. If you want, you can place it orange or if you want, you can go for the golden one. I find that this looks better with orange dot at the center, so I replaced it from golden to orange and Also from the front side, I find that it is not looking complete and there was some extra space. I decided to pick one or two flowers over there only. When you are once done, make sure to rotate it in your hands and then check if you find any space that is left completely without any design on it and you have the space through make some design. Then please try to cover it as much as possible because this kind of design looks good when we are going to put more flowers on our design. That was the key for this design. This is our first stone that we are done with. I have one another stone on the similar shape, but of smaller size. This small stone is almost the same shape, same type, just a bit smaller. I've decided to make this design in pair. Whenever you have two or more stones of same type, I suggest you to create them in a same design so that you can decorate them really very well at your home or in your garden, in your pots, in your planters, and everywhere. You're going to create multiple designs on multiple stones. This looks colorful. But when you are going to create one single design on various stones, this gives us a complete whole family of stones that we can use to create and that we can use to decorate our own space, which actually makes us feel good. That is one of my suggestions if you get one or two more stones that are of similar shape and size and that can be used in pairs, you may design them with the same design. As I'm creating the same design on this smaller one, I'm going to use the same technique, the same method, the same brushes, everything going to be same. So there is nothing much to explain for this smaller stone, just that every design will be a miniature of this bigger one. So here in this tone, I'm starting with the topmost bat. Here I'm placing the orange dot and here you can notice that I have placed all the three dots together. Now, you must be wondering that I said that you have to place the dot and then spread it or stretches at that same point, but here is the trick. If you forget ever to stretch it or if you want to change the design later, you can dip the tip into the white paint and then revive the colors. I dipped this toothpick in the white color and then I made those lines. This is one of the tricks that ever you miss stretching the color or you miss some design, you may recreate or revive the colors. You can notice here as the size of the stone is smaller, the flowers are looking a bit bigger on it. Also, the number of flowers that we are making is now decreased. Why? Because we have less surface to paint, so we have to make small flowers on less space. So we are going to draw less number of flowers. Here, also, I found a space left, so I'm covering it using one flower. You have to make sure that you are holding the stone correctly because this may ruin the design as we have not kept it for a few hours away so that the paint dries. So it is working. We are working on wet paints, so you have to be very careful while working with wet paints. So now here is the final look of both the stones kept together. You can use it for a decoration, and let's move on to the next lesson to see what it holds up for us. 6. Painting Third Stone: T Hello, everyone. Welcome back to my class. In this class, we are going to learn how we can paint another stone using the blue base. In this lesson, I used the stone with blue base and not black because I want to show you that you can create different colors. The base of the stone can be of any color because the first primary base was white, so it can absorb other colors as well. Here, I'm going to use the dotting tools as a toothpick and an earbud. You can use the dotting tools or any other tools that you want to create dots with. In this lesson, I'm going to create a design of basic dot Mandala. If you don't know how to create dot mandalas, even then you can go with this design very easily because in this lesson, I'm going to tell you how you can create dot mandala on a stone. Also, this will be helpful for you if you want to create a dot mandala on a sheet of paper. In this particular lesson, I'm using the combination of only two colors. That is the base color as blue and the orange color as the color of the mandala. Here, I'm using earbud as the most thicker of dots. So if I want to put a very thick dot, I'm going to use an earbud. If I want to put a simple dot like this, then I'll be using the backside of the toothpick and if I want to create very, very sharp dot, then I'll use the front side of this toothpick, the pointed one, so you can use the dotting tools according. You will easily be able to create same dot mandala by following the steps. Here I've created one big dot at the center, and then using the backside of the toothpick, I have placed many dots around that big circle. After that, between the two dots, I have placed one dot of the same thickness. I'm going to repeat this for the next circle as well. You may also use various shades of orange color if you want to create a multi shade mandala, but here I have decided to create it only one shade mandala. That is orange. Also, you can go with different thickness of dots, but here I'm not putting very variations or you can say much variations into it because I want to make it a very simple one. After creating three layers, I've decided to create one layer of a bigger or you can say the thicker dots. I have decided to take the earbuds in a hands and decided to move one round for ear buds. For you, it is not necessary to move yourself around a stone. You can easily remove or you can say revolve the stone on the same place. And while working on the center of the stone of a big stone, there is not necessary to hold it in your hand. As I said earlier, that it is very much necessary to hold the stone in your hand to create a better design. So while working on big stones and you are working at the center part of the stone, that is not actually necessary to hold it in your hands. But while you are going to work towards the outraside of the stone, then it will become important for you to hold the stones in your hards, to give it a better to create a better design. Here I'm creating multiple rounds of earbuds dots, which means thick dots around the circle because at the center, I tried to keep it very minimal using the small dots, but as the size of the stone is really big, we are not going to cover the whole stone with a small dots. We have to increase the size of the dots in order to gain the hold over the stone because it is not very easy to create so many dots around it, and you may use the toothpick to create small dots in between these big dots to create a balanced or we can say an even look. Here comes the next step. I'm using the front side of the toe pick to create very tiny dots. These tiny dots are starting from one point from the center point of the top of the bigger dot and then going downwards towards the center of the stone. That gives us a look of, we can say a leaf. This is going to be a leaf kind dot structure. You have to create that. This is pointed from the center and then it is going towards the center towards the center dot. And I'm going to create this design on all the dots that are on the very much outside of this design, not the inner ones. As you can see here, the stone is really big and heavy. I'm tilting it using my hands. I'm not holding this for the whole time in my hands to draw the design, I'm rotating it on the same place, keeping it on the table, and to make a better design, I'm just tilting it and trying to hold it half in my hands. That's it. And for the next step, I'm putting small dots from the center of those leaves to create a balanced look. Now, as I feel that this seems to be not very much complete, so I'm giving just one more layer to this leaf kind of dots to make it look more enhanced and to make it look more beautiful. Now, let us start from the other side of the stone. I'm using the earbud to make big dots, and I'm keeping a simple small gap between them and placing the dots. I'm going to cover the whole circle like this. I'm going to put more design into it once I'm creating the base with the big dot so that I can make smaller dots around it. Make sure to dip your dotting tool each time you are going to make a dot because on stones, the colors take time, the colors take volume to stay over there. This is the key. You cannot put just one dip and then go around it. You have to dip it every time. Now I'm using the toothpick from the back side to make medium sized dots. I'm placing one dot between the two big dots and going to cover the same circle again. As you can notice here, while working on the outside of this stone, you have to pick it in your hands in order to move it smoothly. If are going to keep it on table, and then you are going to just tilt it and rotate it, this can ruin your design from the other side, the side that is going to touch the table. So it is advisable when you are working on the periphery of the stone, you have to pick it in your hands and then rotate it. I know sometimes this big stone can be really, really heavy to hold. You can take break in between, but try to hold it in your hands while working on it. While working at the center of the stone and it is a big stone, it will be easier for you to work on it like a canvas. But while working on periphery, you need to hold it in your hands. Now we are going to use the front side of the toothpick to make really small and tiny dots and we are going to make the leaf like structure on the biggest dots first. The dots that were made at the first using the earbuds. This is the same design that we made while working at the center part of the stone. So this is not going to be very difficult for you. Now I'm covering the topmost layer of it using the same technique, going to use the front part of the toothpick to make tiny and small and very pointed dots in the leaf like structure as we were doing earlier. This is to give a balanced look because the stone was not looking complete without it. And this design is similar to what we have done on the whole stone. This makes it look very much combined and gives a complete look to our stone. So you can change the design also. You can make dots in some other direction also if you want. But here, I would suggest whatever you are doing at this enterpas makes sure that you are putting the same design on the whole stone because dot mandala is something that is known for its symmetry, for its combination, just like mandalas. If you are going to start some design at the center, make sure to put it on the periphery of the stone, make sure to put it everywhere on the stone so that it combines the whole design together. So yeah, that was the key. Once you are done with your designing, make sure to rotate your stone, check it, analyze it. If you find there is a need to add two or more dots, then just add them and make the design complete. Do whatever you feel like to complete your design. That is the only thing that I can advise you, check your art piece, analyze it, and then create according to your choices and according to your wishes. Now, this was all. This stone is also ready and see how beautiful it came out. I know it was heavy to hold in my hands, but I did it. I managed, and this looks really beautiful. The outcome of the stone has it all. It is saying it all. The shine on the stone, the design on the stone, it is looking pretty. I hope you learn something new from this stone painting, see you in the next lesson for our next stone painting. 7. Painting Fourth Stone: Welcome back, everyone for painting this stone, I'm using a painting plate. Here I'm using a glass pare. You can use any colour plate also and a bowl in which I have taken some water. Also, I'm dripping some acrylic paints into the plate. The acrylic paints are according to my need according to the colors that I have imagined to put on my stone. Here I'm using ugintpin colour, yellow colour, green colour, and brown colour. I'm going to dip these colors with white color because I don't want to give such dark shades on my stone. I want to create some lighter shades, so I'm putting some drops of white color in these shades to make them a lighter one. Now, let us start with our first color. That is McintaPiq. I'm mixing it really well with the white color. Make sure that you dip the paint brush before mixing it into the water. So that you get some contint of water droplets into your brushes, and then you are going to mix it, then this will mix really very well. Also, make sure that the consistency of the paint do not change while adding the water because you need some dark sheets, some volume, some consistency of the paint while painting the soils. One more trick here I would like to share is that I have not mixed all the colors together. I have not mixed all the colors one by one or using the same paintbrush or washing it again and again and then doing it. I'm just mixed pink colour with white color and I'm starting with painting it onto my stones. I'm not mixing all the colors first. Why? Because I want to save water? I'm not putting much efforts in cleaning the brushes again and again. I can use the same brush again. After painting pink color on my stones, after putting pink color on my stone, if I put pink color, if I'm done with the pink colour, then I'll wash my brush, and then I will turn to the next color and that will be a very easy approach and will be water saving, will be water efficient approach to work with. Here, starting with the stone, I've just made some blocks. You make these blocks very strictly in a square shape or some round corners, that is totally up to you. I'm using a square shape, but with some round edges, not very harsh straight squares on my stones. I'm keeping it a bit flexible. After using all the excess paint that was there in the brushes, I have used it on the stone and after it, I have dubbed in the water. This helps us to use all the excess paint that we had. Now after mixing the yellow color completely with the white color, I'm making the boxes or you can say blocks on the stone near the white blocks, near the pink blocks. Now after this, I'm making a block that is attached to the pink block. This may be attached or this may not be attached. This is completely up to you if you want to make the blocks that are attached to each other and you want to create a single simple design repetitively on the stone, that is also fine. If you want to create a random design, just like I am doing here, then you can create that random design according to your own stone, according to the space available on the stone surface, according to the surface of the stone, according to the colors you are using, the way those colors make those stone vibrant is very, very important. If the stone is not looking vibrant and is not reflecting back the colors, then there is no point of making this art. You have to choose the colors wisely. You have to choose the base of the stone wisely. Here at the base of the stone, I have kept it white because I have already created black base, blue base on the previous classes stones. Now I want to create something on the white base. I'm keeping it white and I'm not putting any other layer. So using the same white base four different colors, making those colors a lighter one because I don't want to put very dark shades on it. I want these to be vibrant to reflect back the lights. If it is going to be dark, they will absorb the light. If the colors are going to be light, they will reflect the lights back. This is the theory of the colors. Dark colors absorbs the light and light colors reflects the lights. Using the same technique, I'm using the green color, mixing it well with the white color, making blocks around pink and yellow colours. Some blocks will be detached, some blocks will be attached, some blocks will be at the random place. Keep continuing this until unless the stone is completely filled with the colors you want to fill in. This actually depends upon you, whether you want to fill the whole stone with the colors, whether you want to put multiple colors at one place, attach them, detach them, make them at random place, make them in sequence, make repetitive design. Here, I am making a random pattern, I am making these blocks in random manner. I am not putting the blocks with very harsh boundaries. I'm being very flexible. Even the size of the block is not same. So if you want to make a flexible design, go for this. If you want to make a very harsh and restrict and repetitive design, you may do that. There is no harm in using your creativity in demonstrating it on the canvas of your own. One more thing you can notice here, while I was working at the center part of this stone, I was not holding the stone in my hands, but while working on the boundaries, I have to hold it in my hand, I have to tilt it using my hands, I have to make sure that I have to lift the stone from the base in order to create the design peacefully and neatly. See, it is not compulsory to make all the squares of same size or exact same shape. That is the whole sole thing I'm using here. I'm making small squares or cubes or blocks between the blank spaces to fill up the space, to break the colors, to add more colours to contain good vibrant palette of colors on my stone. That is the key. Make small squares if you feel that you want to break the color over there, if all the colors around it are not going well and you want to add a color, just add it by making a small square in between. Make sure to cover the edges of the stone properly because the sides of the stones are also visible and we cannot leave it without painting on it. If you are going to leave it like this, then it will be like that you have used only the upper part, just the part that is mostly visible to the viewer and you have left this space that also contains a part of your canvas. Just make sure to cover every area, every inch of your stone that is visible to the viewers. Now, I have kept it aside to dry and this is how it looks when we are done with this base of the stone. Now comes art that we are actually working for the modern art. This was just the base preparation. Now we are going to make design over it. There is one more layer of design on it to make it an actual piece of modern art. Now the paint brush is in your hands. Just dip it one by one after every swash into the paint, into the black paint, and start drawing some branches for leaves on it. For this, I'm using the black paint and a fresh water in bowel. I've dipped and cleared my paint brush really very well before dipping it in the water. For this step, you have to make sure that the stone is completely dry. The stone is not completely dried. If the design over it, it's still wet, then the new layer on it may ruin the design. You have to be very sure that we have the stone set to go and now we can paint another layer on it. Now while painting the black layer, you have to be very careful that when you are drawing the branches, you have to leave some space for making leaves over it. Also, the leaves will be using the black color only because we are making it in a different way. We are giving it a look of a modern touch. Now here, as you can see, if you find that any paint is by any chance being disturbed by your own hands or by the brush you are using, you may use a clean cloth and dip it in water a bit only and clean the extra paint then and there only. You are not supposed to wait for long because if the paint going to dry, then it will become very difficult to correct it. If the paint is wet, you have a chance to clear it out using the water only. Be sick water, be sick clothe, and just wipe it off. That's it. That's the process you can use if you spill or you disturb any painting color on the stone. Now it's the time to draw heavy leaves around these branches. You may use any dark color, for example, navy blue color, but I would suggest to use the same colour that you have used for the branches to draw these leaves. Now, you have to be very careful while drawing these leaves. You are not supposed to cover each and every inch so that the basic layer will not be visible. The basic layer of design in which we have used multicolors. If you are going to fill the whole stone, that will not be looking good and that will not be a correct approach to go for. We want to give it a multicolor base over which we are putting black colour to decorate that base, to complement that base. We cannot cover it all. That is the key here. You have to make leaves, you have to draw leaves using the black color only the color that you have used to draw the bunches, but you have to draw them at a particular distance, maintaining all the parameters of the art on this stone. One thing that you may also notice here that the leaf size is not seen. Leaf is of different size and is moving in different directions also. I'm not saying that you have to make a rush into it, but you can keep in mind that if you find that there is less space and you want to draw more leaves, then go for smaller leaves. If you want to cover the larger area using one single leaf, then go for just one leaf. Do not overcrowd the design of the stone. Do not let it be a rushy design, do not let it be a messy design. Just complement the base. That's it. As the stone is really very heavy, I understand you just have to rotate the stone in order to work it on like a cannabs. This is something that is adjustable according to the artwork we are working on. And if you feel that the paint brush feels to be dry while working on the stone, make sure to dip it in between in the water to maintain the consistency and to shine up the colors. Now, if you feel that earlier you missed some space in which you can draw leaves, you can draw branches, then you can modify the design. The paint is still in your hands. You are the master of this art piece, you can do the modifications. That is completely okay. We are now done with our stone painting of stone. Four, here is the final look of this stone. I hope you enjoyed this class and also in the next lesson, we are going to varnish our stones. So don't miss it out, learn how we varnish the stones in order to keep them fresh and alive for so long. I hope you enjoyed the class, even the next lesson. Bye bye. 8. Final Step : Varnishing the Stones: Hello, everyone. Welcome back. In this lesson, I have said I'm going to varnish up the stones. But what exactly Varnishing the stone means? Let us start with our first stone. Observe this stone carefully. This stone design is going to, it's not going to change. Yes. It's not going to change. Why I'm putting this layer of what it is. I'm just putting brush over it. I'm moving a brush over a stone that we have already painted. Is that what I'm doing? This changes nothing, then why I'm doing it? Here it is. It is picture varnish. Varnish is a simple liquid transparent in color and helps us to protect our stones from water, dust, and much more. This helps us to create a layer between the stone or what we have else painted with the air so that if the stone is kept somewhere for decoration and later we want to clean it, we can simply clean it with a wipe or we can clean it with a damped cloth. There is no harm in using a water over it. Even the water can destroy the stone design or any painting design because these are just paints. But if you are regularly putting a varnish over it, if we are keeping our stones and painting safe with a layer of varnish over it, it helps us to protect it basically from some small dust or some small water droplets. Yes, this is the final step that I'm using for my stone painting, and I'm painting each stone with a layer of varnish over it. This helps us to protect our stones for a longer time. So here I'm covering each and every stone with this varnish and I'm completely covering the whole surface of this stone that I have painted to protect it from dust and water. You may simply skip this part or step, but I would suggest you to add this step. You can buy this varnish bottle. This is easily available everywhere. And then paint your stones with it. If you are going to paint it with the varnish, your paints will stay for longer time. Your stones or your artworks will not lose their shine so soon. This helps us to keep the stone and our paintings shining for a longer time. This was all about Varnishing the stones. Let's move on to the next lesson to see our next lesson to see the project work. 9. Project Work: Welcome back, everyone. I hope you enjoyed the class and learned something new from this class.
