1. Intro: Hey There!: Hey there and welcome. In this class, we're going to mix different kind of images, textures, and concept to give
birth to a new composition. Hi, my name is Brian. I'm a graphic designer living in one trial and most of
my work is designing, marketing, social posts,
and video editing. Besides working as a
professional graphic designer, I also love where maybe
addicted to digital collage. I've been doing this since 2018 when I first got
this iPad Pro right here. And I immediately install
the Procreate app. And since then I fell
in love with it. I've never been proud,
passionate about it. It helps me to relax and to be my own self and
create my own world. And the best part is I can
actually do it anytime, anywhere and share
it to the world. Taking this course, who make
you think outside the box? We will experiment
with colors and effects to create a
basic two beautiful, all we need is our
iPad right here and Apple Pencil procreate
app, and we're good to go. So these are the breakdown of what the class is all about. First, we're gonna get into
where to get those images, those PNGs and
jpegs and all that. And we're gonna get into
that the basic tool which is how to import your images, how to export your images, and the basic amino creating your Canvas
on your first collage. Third one, it's gonna
be the selection, which is very important
because this is the one that cut the images, put them together and for what will be the
just man luxury, the one that brings our
composition to life, because it brings the colors. So like textures and different special
effects that we cannot do if we don't
have those adjustments. Along the way, we're going
to learn about tips and tricks on how to make our workflow a little bit
better and faster without compromising the
quality of our composition. And lastly, for going to create our digital collage project will apply all what we
learn from this class. By the end of the class, you'll be able to create
your own digital collage. And I can't wait for you
to share what you've come up with in the project
gallery down below. And we'll love to
give you a feedback. So yeah, let's get started. I'll see you on the next video. See you there.
2. The Project: Our class project
for today is to create a digital collage
using the Procreate app. Under the project resources, you will find the resources
for the project assets. All you have to do
is to click and download it and you can follow along and use this
asset to complete the project. And if you are a beginner on digital collage
Procreate app, don't worry because I'll
go through step-by-step. I advice you to go ahead and take all the
classes in here, especially those
selection tools, transformed tools,
the adjustment tool, because these are the
basics of digital collage. Once you take all
those tools, classes, you will have a better
experience and creating your digital collage
domain goal of this class or the project is for
you to be exposed to different scenario
of collages, e.g. are we going to do today? Is this collage they created? Think this is a good
example for you to practice your selection, which we're going to be cutting
this string right here. We're going to put
a friend images, textures to make it seamless, doing color balance at different effects,
selections and adjustment. They will be proud, share or to print
your art collections. And once you finish
the class project, don't forget to go ahead
into deranged icon. Save it, please
share and save it. Go back to your
Skillshare profile. Don't forget to go ahead and
create project right here, upload image right here, use it and then hit Publish right here.
And I'll be waiting. You're beautiful project. And I can't wait to see
what you come up with for sure give you a feedback
on what you create. I'm pretty sure it's gonna
be beautiful project. And I'll see you on
the next lesson.
3. The Selection Tool: Hey guys, welcome back. And in this part of the video, we're gonna go straight
to the selection, which is, I'm gonna go just
use my previous Canvas. So the selection is
just right here. All the selections right here, Automatic freehand
rectangle and an ellipse. I don't really use the
rectangle, an ellipse, but I usually use
automatic and free hand for most of my composition. So let's take a look
at how it works. We're going to add
an image right here. You can hit range and then you can go and then Insert Photo. Probably cut this car right here because it looks geometric, easy to cut some images. Sometimes it's not depending
on what the background is. We're going to use
this one right here to get rid of the background. So I'm going to just put
my iPad just like here, Transform and we're
gonna go Fit to Canvas. And I'm going to go hit the
selection for this one, I probably will just go for free hand because it's going
to be easier for this. So I will be just using point
a to point B kind of thing. So as you can see, I'm just pointing
into all the edges. It's gonna be easy because
this shape is very geometric. And you can just point just
like this one right here. For the wheel, you can probably think it's gonna
be easy just like this. And we can refine it a little
bit later, but for now, looks okay, so we're good to go with our selection and
we're going to go to layer. And we could go mask. And you can see the background was
eliminated just like that. And you can refine this selection right here
because it doesn't look good. But it's gonna be easy if
you go to the layer mask, can get into the
brush right here. I usually go with soft brush, and right now it's on black, so we probably need to go wide, actually black to hide
this one right here. I'm just gonna go,
make my brush smaller. And I think we're going to just gonna go
for mono line brush. So it has kind of like
sharper edges just like this. And we can just kind of
a little bit smoother. Just like this. You have
something like this. I think we're good and if you want to review some details, you can just go to white and
then you can start painting. It probably needs a real white. And thing. I have to hide some stuff again and think I'm just going to
make it something like this. And I think it looks good. Hello bit more right here, I guess it's kind of a
little bit even you can change the background
of this 12 different. Maybe orange if you want. You can also remove the background of
this guy right here. I mean, what you could do, I usually just merge it. If I'm finished
with the masking, I can just go to selection. You can go Automatic and then
just select this part right here and increase the
threshold, something like this. You can invert it first. You can mask it. Think I'm good here. And I think we use all
the selection right here. We were able to use freehand and automatic
at the same time, we will get into more details
on the actual projects. So I'll see you on
the next lesson.
4. The Transform Tool: Alright, welcome back. In this part of the video, we're gonna talk about the
transform tool, which is, I'm going to get into
different things sample of my previous artboard just
to demonstrate it to you. Because if you're gonna go
start from the scratch, I might take awhile
for this course. So just worthy example and for you to see what is
transform tool is, I'm going to just click
this one right here. This is one of the art
board that I created. This is the transform tool. If you want to select some
of these subject right here, you need to go ahead
and click that part. So I'm hitting this
planet right here. And if I want to make it bigger, I can just chicken see there's couple of nodes right here. This one's right here. The blue ones. These are the one that
points that you can get and then you can
see what it goes. But we're only
uniform right now, so it's scaling up
proportionately equally. This is actually the one
that I use the most. Because if you use
the free form, it will distort your
subject right here. But if that's what
you're aiming for, then you can use that. Mainly. Mostly, I just
use the uniform to make sure that everything is scaled properly and it
doesn't look weird. Can you rotate your composition
with this one right here? If you want to have
this one here, free format if you
want like this. But I don't think for
this one it helps. You can also distort it. If you want to make it
a little bit more 3D, it's gonna be by points that you can change the perspective. This is actually
useful if perspective, like a 3D or something, as you can see, it gives you a good perspective on the
planet and stuff like that. You can also go ahead
and go for a warp here. Let's take a look at
the clouds right here. You can go to Transform and
then you go warp right here. You can, if you want to
show that clouds instead, you can just kinda
do this with me. You can go at advanced
mesh if you want more control of your
competition right here. If you want to get a little
bit of more dramatic effect, I think that would work here. You can see it gives it like
a circle levi right there, but just be careful
when you're using it. It might distort some of the elements like
this one right here. See, now it looks
totally different. And you can fit into Canvas. That is also helpful
if you want to just fit it into Canvas,
just like that. But I don't really use much
of the other stuff here. You can also even reset your composition if you feel like you've been
bringing it a lot, you can just reset it and
you can call it a day. You can also use the snapping
here if you want to be accurate with where you putting it as sometimes it's quite
annoying to have this, so I don't really use it, but I, sometimes I use it on, on a different purpose. So that's all about this
transform tool here. You can see it in action. We get into the product section, so we'll get into another
part of the lesson, which is the selection. And I'll see you there.
5. The Adjustment Tool: Hello guys, and thank
you for tuning in. And this is gonna
be the last part. The basic tools that
I'm using before we get into the actual project. There's actually a
lot of adjustment that we could look into. So I'm just gonna go here. If you go to your
adjustment right here, you can see that
there is a couple or few different adjustments
that you can use, but I just use even saturation. Sometimes use color balance, curve, all the blur here. I use them in
different purposes, noise to give textures. I've never used sharps, I use bloom a lot, especially if I want to have my subjects just gives a
boost on your highlights. I definitely like chromatic
aberration and liquefy. And so let's get into
it, color adjustments. So if you get into one of
my composition right here, probably get into
this one right here. Let's get to the
layer of the house so we can take a look
at how you work. So I'm gonna go to
hue and saturation. This is usually when
I want to control all the colors of
the composition. So let's say I want
to change it to blue. Kinda looks as you can see, turns into different
colors and all that. And sometimes it's good,
sometimes it's not, depending on what you
want to accomplish. I usually have a color
palette already ready. Usually I just go
with origin, teal, and blue and magenta or
this one right here. What I'm doing right now, and they usually has
the element of thrill. We will look into this
composition right here. If we hit the planet right here, this is the one I'm
heating. As you can see. We can also change
the color with the color balance
and ascendancy, able to change the color
if you want to blend it to the color of the background
in do that as well. If you want to turn
into more green, you can see it goes to
magenta and goes to green. And this is very intuitive
way to use the color balance. You also want to hit the shadow like this
one is the shadow, the darkest part of the image. So you can probably make it a little bit more
blue if you want. You can make a yellow. So this is a good way to
experiment with colors. As you can see right here. Are the dark part of the
image is turning into cyan. And if it goes to red, it could be a good
composition just like this. I think that's a
good composition. Let's go right here. And we can this
layer right here. And we can go for curve, we can go to the Gamma
of your composition. As you can see, this is actually the darkest
part of your image. So if I go bump it up, like here, the darkest
part goes writer. She can see, and this is
actually the brightest. You can turn it down. If you want to have the
highlights goes darker. This is going to be the point. So it also changed the red
into different colors. As you can see, the highlights, the red highlights is going to change to
something like this. The dark part of the
image becomes red. You can also do that in
green and also blue. So this is also a good way
to control colors a little bit more specific
because it just hitting red, green, and blue. So we're able to go to
the colors right here. Now it go for a Gaussian blur. I'm going to go hit
the planet right here. And let's say I'm going to go Gaussian blur it a
little bit blurred. And this is good
because it's kinda like out-of-focus and blending
into the entire composition. As you can see, that
Gaussian blur is also helpful if you want
to cast some shadows, are some lights emitting
from the back of your image. You can do that to
duplicate the layer. As you can see, I
have one and there's two bottom part of that image. I can go Gaussian blur it. And as you can see, it's emitting some kind
of nice soft light. You can even intensify
that if you want to make it a little bit
brighter and all that, also, combine it with the color, just men right here. You can use the Motion Blur. And depending on
what you're going, motion blur can go up
and you can go down, you can go left, and
you can go right. This is also good for
kind of out-of-focus, but a little bit
more dynamic than the Gaussian blur as
you can see here. And for the last one, which is the perspective, I probably will set an example
to this one right here. So the Cloud we can
go perspective blur. This is a little
bit, a little bit tricky because you have to set the position of where the
perspective blur going to be. So as you can see, the
blur just like this, as you can see if I move it directional bubble right here. Only thing that was blurred
is the outside of this polar. So the more you intensify it, the more it gets blurred out. So insist get for n. You can also go for directional. And as you can see, it goes some kind
of a direction. So it started from
pointing directional. You can point which
direction and you can increase the tolerance. As you can see, it goes
differently in here. And just quiet
experimental to me, but I kinda like it. Read defect and just gives a little bit more
dynamic predict composition and gives it a little bit more like a
movement, as you can see here, it looks like this cloud is
moving too fast and they have to get into the portal
before they run out of time. So this composition right here, if you want to
intensify the texture and it gives us a little bit
more like a vintage look. You can just add a
layer right here. You can make black and
fill up with color. And you go to the adjustment,
you can get noise, then you can select
pretty much here, but I just use clouds. You can go below or ridges. I don't think I don't see
any difference right here, but if you go scale it up, you can see the difference and the octane as well
and the turbulence. And you can blend it. I usually use screen or lighting and then I decrease
the opacity just like this. Just gives it a little bit, kind of a texture law. Sometimes it doesn't look good. So you might want to change
the blending mode to overlay if you want
to make it a little bit darker and just like that, but you want to make
sure that it blends all the colors because
for the overlay, it doesn't blend with the
white or sometimes just being normal and then
you just decrease the opacity is also good. And it's a little bit, a little bit more subtle and consistent with the texture
for the balloon effect. This is actually one of my
favorite effects in here. Let's just create a new I'm
going to fill up in black. If you want to go to
luminance here and light pen, you color it white. Make stars everywhere
just like this. And if you want
to use the bloom, they usually is the
thing that makes us a little bit bloom. Lumiere, Our brighter
just like this. If you want to intensify
it just for that purpose. But I have another example. I usually, I actually use it in this composition right
here, just like this. I want to bloom this one. So it's a little bit more, can a cynic this one right here. And I'm going to bloom it. And as you can see, it takes couple of day. So you can see the full
effect just like this. I used the curve to
make the details a little bit more prominent
in this area or in this composition just like
this chromatic average, this is actually one of
my favorite effects, are actually abuse using it. I'm gonna just show
it to you right now. And I usually use it. Okay, let's try this one, the planet right here. You can see I already applied
a chromatic aberration, but if you want to intensify
it more, you can do that. It looks like a 3D effect by
kinda have that retro vibe. You can also use it
with your main subject. So let's try it again and
you can see it gives it a little bit more dimension
and kind of a retro vibe. The last one that I usually is the calligraphy to make the composition a little
bit more dynamic. I usually use push it
depending on what the project, as you can see, I'm trying
to control the position. You can make it a little
bit bigger or you can shrink the road
just like this. And you can show a little bit more row or it's kind of like if it's
like moving and all that, you can even twirl some of. It's something like this. But just be careful when using this effect right here because sometimes
they're too much. But there's a lot of ways
that you can use it. There's a trail right or left and this kind of
different ones here. So you can just experiment that, but I just usually use
bush because this is a way that I can control the
image compared to the twirl. It usually just gives me, it's good for when you're
doing kind of like a marble. And that usually
is the adjustment. And these are the
tools that makes the composition into
life as they just gives us a little
bit of effect from color's perspective into
different textures and effects. I'll see you on
the next chapter, which is the actual
creation or composition. C right there.
6. Where To Get Royalty/Free Images?: Hello guys, and welcome to
this first part of the class. And this part, we're going
to definitely don't miss this part because this is the
foundation of our collage. Alright, so it's
gonna be how to find your images and your
assets for free. So the first thing that I
recommend is actually Google. You can pretty much
find everything here. But I suggest that
you go back souls to Unsplash ENG IMG and Deviant Art first before
you get into Google, because google is gonna be the last resort to
take a look at clouds. These are clouds,
but sometimes they are not supposed to use
them in production. So I think that you
have to be careful. You can actually go
into filter right here. You can select HD right here and see you get the
highest definition. As you can see, it's all license of all, it's better you go to these free stock
photography right here. Sometimes they have
a little bit of requirements like you put
their names if you want to post it somewhere else or
if you're selling it in digital form or in
printing Pexels. Unsplash, also Deviant
Art as well for the PNGs. These are like,
let's say example, we can look for maybe
a waves and stuff. So you can search for ways and
you can have all this one. You can even select what
type of resolution to need. If you want to original
one, you can select, it can go to the smallest
one given unsplash.com, you can have all these good
resolution straight here. You can just cut them are
blending into your composition. And you have all
this planet and you can have the original size, which is a pretty big size
for this kind of thing. And you can PNG img.com
is my go-to for PNGs. Let's say, let's go get a cat. All the Kansas already
been cut here. So if you want to do
a collage with cats, this is gonna be the best place. Sometimes they're
not good qualities, especially you can see the
resolutions right there. It's 557, so that's
not a good resolution, especially if it's
the focal point or if it's your domain subjects. So this is okay, I guess you just have to look
which one is the best one. The higher the quality or the higher the
resolution means, the higher the quality is. Just that. And Deviant Art is
actually also a PNG. Let's say we want to, we need some trees, PNG and Deviant Art. You need to register
before you down, you can download these assets. These are PNG, so you can
just download them and then you can just cut some of these and then put it
into your artwork. Basically, these are the
only one that I consider. If you have something else
that you can recommend, please feel free to go on
discussion and post it there. I'll see you on the next lesson.
7. Image Hunting: Hey guys, welcome back. Now that you know,
or to find images, now it's time to hunt
those images to our gonna be using in this
particular project that we'll be building. So for our project, this is going to be what it's
going to be looked like. I already created this before, but I just want to
show you how I did it, the process that I
did to create this. Alright, so basically this is what we're going to do today. So we're going to find
this train right here, this earth, this
plants right here. If we cannot find it on the resources that
we'll be providing, you can definitely
make your own images or create or look
for your own images. If you have images on hand, you can also decide to only few of the resources that I've
been using since forever. So I have the pexels.com, if you can see that
is here, pixels ups. So Pexels. This is the one pixels.com. I also have unsplash.com. I also have this PNG img.com. Hey, there, so desire. This is one of my go-to search engine to look
for like transparent. There's no backgrounds. I can just put it
on my collages. So we're going to
look for train. So I usually go subway train. So it's smartest specific. You can look for a train that resembles or well,
you can imagine. Your composition will be. If you look for subway train, you can check also, like Subway, you can just put
your keywords right there. And then if you're good, you do. Show you some resources right here so you can
just keep looking. Sometimes it's
really hard to find, but David times
keep on scrolling. I think this is good
one right here. Sometimes it's really hard at, I don't know how the
algorithm works, but let's go to this part
right here, the unsplash.com. It's also a good way. It's a good one to look for it. This is good, but we're gonna be using this
one right here. I think it's from George Ramirez and it's called I don't know
what's a title, but it's kind of a train. If you have art I'm
looking for it is, I'll put it I'll put it
in our resources panel. So let me just show
it to you right now. Alright, so this is
the class that will be making artwork right here. So if you go to
Project and Resources, I think you can only find this. I'm not sure if you can
find this on mobile, but for the desktop I
think you can find one. And you can see here, create your magical
world, procreate. This is going to be,
if you click this, you will find all the
resources that we'll be using in this class. These are the resources
that you can go to to get or to look for images. So subject is a train, so I'll be using
this one right here. I think we will need to find a background like stars maybe. Yeah, This are a
good background for our composition for the PNG IMG. I'll probably put, I'm not
sure if I got it here, but I think I did. So he put the Earth, I think this is the one that
I will be using in here. And if you go for meteorite, think, oops, I think I missed
it and things like that. And you can see
all these Meijer, I think this is the
one that will be, I'll be using right here. So media or PNG, if you want to just jump into the actual creation
of the artwork, like what a sad you
go to the class. You can go Project
and Resources. You can just download it. But I'm just going to show
you one more thing here. Input like plants and stuff. So this are pretty
much my process when I'm creating all my collages, if not plants, I think it's just go to the
homepage right here. Go like nature. You can go, you can search into here, I think there's an asteroid
nature. Thank you. Can find some trees
here and all that. So you can find here, it's pretty much separated
or filtered out right here. If you have nature, you can find maybe palm
tree instead of the cactus. And these are all ready to be incorporated into our collages. So you don't have to
remove all the background, so it's pretty good,
It's pretty quick. It will make your life easier
if in order to find this. But you can just go ahead and click the project
resources here. There's resources here. It's going to make a
biased not too much. You can download it. And then you can go straight
ahead and go to here. The part when you have
two will be actually be, we'll be creating our, our project right here and really excited for this one.
And I'll see you there.
8. Project Part One: Create Your Magical World: Hello guys. Thank
you for tuning in. So this is the part that
we're going to create, our project for this class, just to give you a heads up, does this while we'll
be creating today, pretty similar to
this composition. I already created this kind
of like a long time ago, but I want to share with
you how I created this. We're gonna go back to
the gallery section so we can create a new canvas. So just click this one
right here, gallery. And then we're going
to create canvas. Press this icon right here. So this is a plus icon. There's a couple of different dimensions that
already have prepared here. But for this class, we're going to use a
screen size just to fit into the like a full
screen of the iPad. So if, if you want to
customize it and you're pretty comfortable with creating
your own dimensions. And if you want to
print it or show it to anyone with a specific or if you want to post it
on Instagram or Facebook, or you can make a custom size just like
click this part right here, if you know your dimension, like the height and
weight and DPIs. So basically I'm going to use 300 DPI for this one right here. I'm going to hit cancel for now. And I'm just going to screen
size it just like this. And you have a blank page. Alright, so we're going to hit the wrench icon right here. This the first one just before
or just after the gallery. I'm going to hit that
and then click Add. And you see here insert photo. And we're just going to look for the photo that we're looking at, this image right here. So first things first, we have to create a framing, our composition right here. So this composition
doesn't really fit into the artwork here, but don't worry about that. We're going to make
it work because we're not just gonna be
working with this photo, we're working into
more tie images, though we're, since
we're going to make it, we're going to frame it. I'd like to just use
my two fingers here, pinch in and out like this, just to give you the whole frame of your art
board so it's easier to work. That's just for me, but you
can do some experimentation. So for this one right here, we're going to be
making different scenes using this train right here. For this one, I would like
to frame it just like here. And for this part right here, it will be different images. We're going to make a
different background, multiple images to
stitch them together. So just kinda put it
right here for now. Procreate doesn't have the
smart objects right now, so we need to be careful on the scaling of
images right here. So if he's scale it, something like this and
you want to scale it up, it's not going to work,
it's going to be pixelated. So if you're working on a big or nice resolution
image is better for you too. When you upload your photo
and just to make it bigger or make it fit into the art board right
here, you're working. So I'm just going to
de-select it for now. And I'm really happy
with the framing. We can reframe it later on, but for now we're going
to go into the next part, which is to cut this
and upload more images. Alright, This one looks good. So we're going to go
to the next step. We're going to hit this
selection right here. And then we're going to
remove some of the part of the image that we
don't want so we can stitch it with
different images. So I'm going to start
here, right here. I'm going to zoom it
just like this so we can start and make sure
that you're on free hand. We'll do it again. We're gonna go with selection. This is selection. We're gonna go free hand and make sure that
you're on and had so it doesn't compromise vendor selection because
if you go elsewhere, it won't, you won't get the
result that you're seeing. Right here, just the
edge of this part. So tap right there. You can see like like
circle, white circle there. So you just continue right here. So just pointing it and you can see there's
like a running, and we call it running
in a graphic designer. But you can, since
we're in free hand, pretty much allowed to
do pretty much anything. You can just do it right here, then you can see it. If you trace some object, it just literally make it
the same thing, rigid it. So since this is kinda like
a straight line thing, I'm going to just do that. It doesn't really matter for me. But if you really
like very particular, you can just trace
it just like this. It doesn't really, it can turn the orientation of your Canvas
just to make it easier. For me. It's easier just like this, just continues just like this. And since this is
a straight line, we can just click
that part right here. I'm not really very
particular at this moment, since this is just like a draft, we can modify or re
refine our selections. So for this one it's kinda
hard because it's like curve. So what I usually
do is that over, is not to overthink
this curve right here. I just like like swipe
hit like really quick, like just like this, and then we'll work on that. But if you want to make
precise selection, you can just, you can just use your two fingers and
it goes back to it. Just undo what you did. So we can just if you want to
make it like slow, slowly. If it's your first time, I think we can
practice just like this and that's
pretty good for me. And then since this is a
straight line or not straight, but it's kind of like you
can see it's pretty sharp. We can just click all the way right here
thing that's fine. We can really, we can refine
it a little bit later. And you can go all
the way right here. And I just want to get
this part right here. So click it just like that. I think it's better for
you to go all the way out. So you'd have like
a padding here. And then from there you can
just point everything here. Since we're just
getting this train and some of the
ceiling right here. So you can see there's like
a weird overlay right here. That means this is the
one that just select it. And the one that's pretty clear. That means you didn't
do anything in there. And we're gonna go into our
layer panel right here. You can go mask and you
can see it's quite, we remove some of
the parts so a mask, masking is actually
disrupt you did non-destructive
way to get rid of some part of the composition or the part of the image that you don't really like to be there. And since it's a non-destructive
way, you can refine it. So if you go to the Layer Mask, you select one of the
brushes right here. You can go like any brush
just to test it out. You can go to the layers again, make sure your layer mask. We will. Now, as
you can see here, you're trying to
get rid of them. You can control or undo it with two hands tablets
just like this. That's good. Then if we want to brush
it here, it's good. And then actually, there's
also another attribute. If you use the black one, it removes some part
of your composition. But if you use white, it reveals back the part that to just mess
around and remove. Yeah, just like that. And also you can go back to the layer and go back
with your brushes. You can just do like this. It reveals all your the
part that you just work on. And then if you don't like it, you can just undo it. And you can go back to black. And you can make your
brushes smaller. You can refine it as you
wish, just like this. You can go back to white. And you can review part that you wanted to bring back
some of the details. As you can see, I'm trying
to put back some of the pages or the curvature here. You can go black if you don't
want this part right here. And it just kind
of like a magic. And it's not the
non-destructive, like just like this
one right here. I don't like that
part since it's kind of like very sharp, doesn't look seamlessly cut. So you can just do that. And I think we're
pretty good right here. We can add some elements
here and there. But remember what we did before. Remember what we're
trying to achieve. Just go back right here. I can add some
elements right here. I could put some background, some kinda go back. You can actually also go
to actions right here. And if you want a reference
just in this part right here, for you to have that
to go back and forth. You can go the wrench icon. You can go to reference. And you can actually upload
your image that you're trying to copy or like a reference so it can go
import image. You can. Hey, get this barrier here as a reference and
you can put it, oops, just example
this one right here. The one that I
created, you can just go something like this. And you can, you
can put this part, make it smaller just for you to have a reference while you're
working on this specific. So this is what I usually do when I went to
reproduce something. And I don't want to
go back and forth. So it's probably easier
for me to do that. You can always remove
this for sure. You want to go back to Canvas reference and
you can go back again. So something like that, just like for you not to get distracted and
then go back and forth. And I'd like to put one of the images that will
resemble our backgrounds. So add, insert a photo and I'll be using this image
right here as a background. So as a good practice, I always like to frame
it like full-screen are full in our Canvas just
to make the image crispy. Otherwise, if you put
it just like this and then you want to make it bigger, it, it will look pixelated. I'm going to go to
the layer panel. And I'll put the, this part right here,
just right here. So we have a good
background just like that. You can position this. Actually if you want to show some of the
elements that's hiding. Because I want to show the spring here on
the composition. So I'm just gonna go, oops. It's gonna go to the Transform. Make sure that you have
this image selected. And you can just go
flip horizontal. And then you can just make it work somehow
it just like this. Or if it's not working out, you can experiment
with a flip vertical. You can go horizontal
just like this. And you just have to work. Okay? We have the Earth right here. And I want to make it like
it's sitting into less. I don't know why you call it
like a galaxy of something. Some sort of yeah. I want to make it a bit bigger. I guess, like this. We're not really trying to
copy this part right here. But you can always make it smaller if you would like that. And bigger if you want. Okay. So I'm happy with this. Maybe till there's a little
bit, maybe like this. So it doesn't look
like the Earth. And we'll see, I
think it looks great. The only issue right
now is the art is very sharp and we want to make it a good perspective that
they are really far away. So what are we going to
do? Make sure that you're on that layer. This
one right here. Go to Gaussian Blur. He can gaussian blur it
a little bit like this, or you can use a
different blurring. Or you can go back
to Motion Blur. Oops. Go back to adjustment,
motion blur. You can, I think this
is a lot better than the Gaussian blur because
it has more perspective. And it just makes me a little
bit dizzy to look into it. And what you observe, you can see here is
also it's kinda like the saturation of the, the planets too much. I think we're going to make it. We're gonna go adjustment
hue saturation, brightness. We can decrease the
brightness as well. Because if it's too much, it's just taking away
this part right here. So we're going to make it a little subtle, less saturated. Something like this, but you can play with it pretty much. Something like this. And this one is really sharp. I think we're going to do
something about that part. But for now, it's looking good. It doesn't take
over anything here. We're going to color
grade this part as well, so don't worry about that. We can even change the
color of the Earth or the planet just to
make it more super, super trippy, we can make it, I think this looks good, but it can experimented with the hue right
here if you want to make it more
out of this world. So I think that's fine. You can even move it just
to make it something. I think I'm going to play
with a Gaussian blurred quite a bit because
it's still too sharp. Maybe. Maybe it's just a
little bit just like this. I'm going to also play with
the chromatic aberration. Just to make it more like more
dimension and more effect. I think this is a
little bit good for me. I mean, it's good. And now we will play with this,
this part right here. We're going to modify
some of the text. I would like to just get rid of the reference
at this point, so I'm going to
disable it so you can have a good weekend, Have a good preview of what we're working on at the moment. So if you want to go
back to disparate here, you can also rename your
layer if you want to, but we're only going to be
working on a couple of images. So I don't think that
will be a big deal. But if you really like OC, you can rename it like this. We can rename it as,
you know, train. You can rename it. You can rename this
one as planet. And you can rename it to
someone who has a background. So I just put BG for
background and you have a little bit more
organized workflow. So right now I'm gonna
go to the train. I'll try to make it a little bit brighter and change the color. Just to make it a little
bit more interesting. And it's not just like
train from Earth. So we're going to go to, I'm gonna go with
hue saturation. We're going to make it
a little bit more pop. So I'm gonna go saturation. Probably go for low
brightness but not too much. See, it has a little
bit more subtle color and a little bit more alive. We can change the
color right here. She can see it just changed so dramatically and
kind of like it. And I'm looking for out of
the scroll type of color, but still goes with what
we're trying to do, like this one right here. Want to make sure that
it has good color. So I'm going to pump
up the saturation. I'm trying to look for
like orange and teal look. So it goes with this
one right here. And it looks like it's going to be hard or I probably will
just go with the tail. Look. Yeah, Probably this one. Since we're going to add
a little bit more colors. And probably would like to make it less bright,
maybe more saturation. I think this is good for now. We can always modify it. And yeah, I think this is good. Okay, we're going to make
more adjustments as we go. And we will change
the name here, will be easy for us to do that. We can just make a new layer. We can medium blend, we can sample the color here. So since we have the sample, you can see it's
activated right here. So you can just tap in and tap and drag where
you're gonna get the color. So we're gonna get
this color right here. And we're gonna get a
maybe hard airbrush from, is, I'm actually using a built-in building brush
here inside of Procreate app. So airbrushing, hard airbrush. And we'll test it out. See is, it really is good way to make the color seamless when you use
to color picker tool. So it's quite easy here. And make sure that you cover. And sometimes it's
really hard to do it. But you can do a couple
of times like this. So we all ready covered
and we're ready to put more information here. So it looks like it's
really out of this rod. So I will use probably
a monoline brush. And I will put, I don't really know, we're going to make red, probably read or not so red. And we're gonna put, maybe Earth is the destination. So I don't have a
good pen craft Earth. And we're gonna put the
Smiley here just to make it pop colors. Not even sure. Probably make it a
little bit darker. Really sure. Right now, but we're always gonna make
improvements as we go. Oh guys, I will just modify
some of part of the train here because I want to
make it like the colors or the destination to pop out. So. Just make it red right here. And then for the tag where
it's supposed to go, we're going to use the luminous luminance
brush library here. It's a built in brush
so you don't have to purchase it or have a
hard time finding a cell. We're going to use
light pen for this. And the color, I'm going to use the color of the
light Terry here. So when you click this
color right here, you can just use
one of your finger, tap and hold, and then drag where two colors
you want to sample. So I'm going to use
this part right there. It feel free to get
any colors here. And then we're just
gonna put like handwrite it right here with I'm
just going to put Earth. So I think that's very
controversy right there. I'm going to make the
size of the brush a little smaller just
to for readability. Because if it's really big, it's kinda hard to read. So we're gonna put, good, Put your own destination. But I'm just going to
hit Earth right here. And I think that's pretty good. I'm going to put Smiley face. It's so different what I'm seeing here, because
what I'm seeing here, It's very glowy and pretty nice. I'm not sure how it
reflects on the camera, but I hope it works. I'm going to make it smaller. It's going to do some border right here just a little bit, just to make it some dimension. Think it adds a little
bit more of some kind of luminosity here and there. Yeah, I think
that's pretty cool. And we will the
lights more brighter. So we're gonna be using
the same brush light pen. We're going to sample. I think it's pretty
much the same color. And then we're going to
make the brush bigger. And then we're going to just
make some kind of lighter, like kind of light, artificial light right here. You can always make it
brighter if you want, but that's too much. So I'm going to stick with the original, something like this. I'm just going to go for the edges just to give it
a little bit of halo glow. And we can go here as well. Still make it more
different light sources. And I think I'm going to go
for a red color as well. So you can pick any
red right here, you can make it brighter. And then we could put more
red lights right here just to complement
the super blue color. And I probably put more
here just to even it out. Probably put it there as well. And this one, it's
kind of like too much. I'm going to make it
bigger so it just doesn't stand out so, so much. And I think that's it. I think it has a good
vive sauce here. We're going to make some
light sources right there. We can also trace this
one right here just to give it kind of life, do it thing that will
actually change composition. Quite a big, something
like this if you want to put more detail, but I think that's good enough. So we're going to put more like textures and details to
make it more seamless.
9. Project Part Two: Create Your Magical World: So I'm gonna go different layer. I'm actually going
to add layers. We're going to use a thing, we're going to use Nebula. We're going to try to put
like clouds in here just to give it a little
bit of dimension. I think that's too much though. You can choose a different
color as you wish. But I feel like I
want to use orange. You can make it a little bit bigger so it has more coverage. But I don't think oranges good. Probably blue.
Yeah, I think blue is kind of a little
bit more playful. We can, a little bit
tricky because we cannot really control
this brush right here, the nebula, it does, has a mind of its own, but if you want, you can press it
slightly just like this. If you want to take
control a little bit. Because otherwise, if
you press really hard, it just gives you a hard result. So I think putting it quiet
a little bit of can also put it here to give it a little bit of a little bit of colors. You can make it. If you go to Layer, just click the
letter n right here. You can decrease the
opacity if you want. And I think that, that
brings a little bit of a good colors in there. But again, we can add
a different more. I'm going to add a
different layer. I'll go to thing, it's going to be textures. You will find. If it's, I don't think
it's some textures. Go to elements.
There's clouds there. You can put like
maybe orange to give it a little balance
of different color. Something like there. Yeah, I think that's that's
also gives a little bit of a different tone of what
we're trying to create here. What I'm trying to do now is to make this part a
little bit brighter. So I'm going to
create a new layer. And I'm going to use a
brush that we just used a while ago, probably
medium blends. We can just put something right here just to give it
a little bit of glow. Just to give you put the subject from the
background and the foreground. And we're going to
go to that layer. We can try to add
some blending modes. And it gives it a little
bit of this one is okay, but that's too much. I think we can go for yeah, I think overlay
will set the tone. But you can modify
how you want it to, how bright you wanted to. You can always go to
Adjustments, Hue, Saturation,
Brightness, like this. And I think it's too bright. You can also change the color. I think this is good
because it really blends the color quite a
bit and it breaks it up. You can also make
it just like this. And you can see the difference. It's kinda like super dark. And once we add some overlay, it has a little bit of colors and a little
bit more dynamic. For this one right here, you can intensify
something just like this. And you can even change
the blending mode, but it doesn't work pretty much like I want to just kind
of go for normal right now. We're going to add more
details like a little bit of elements that will make
our composition moving. And just kind of like
out of this first. So I'm gonna go back to
my wrench icon reaction. Going to insert photo.
I'm going to add this icon or this
thing right here. I think it's called like
meteors or something like that. We're going to make it, we're going to go something like this. So it doesn't look like, because the typical way to add
this is like this. But since we're different, we're going to make up Jake Gray here, something like this. So it goes to here. I'm not sure if that's so busy, but we're going to make it work. So I'm going to duplicate it
and position it right here. We're going to make it
three yo, of this here. Make a little bit smaller. So it doesn't look like it's
we just copy pasted it. And some of them we
have to motion blur. Just have some
perspective to it. So because if you just put
it as it is, it's as good. But if you put some perspective, it gives it a little
bit of character to it. We're adding, we're going to
add Gaussian blur to others. It gives it a little
bit of illusions. So this is a little bit further. This is like a little bit closer to us,
something like that. And we can also change
some of the colors. We can intensify some of it. Brighter, different color. But I think this is good enough. Yeah, something like this. And I think it really compliments some other
features of our composition. We're going to add more photo. I usually put bird to some of mostly my composition just
to give it a little bit of movement in a little bit
of concept or five to it. So I'm going to use
this pair right here. I'm going to make the
bird a little bit brighter or more saturated. We're going to change the color so it stands up quite a bit. I think this color is good for, since we have a little
bit of magenta, purple into the background. I think that's, that looks good. We're going to make it there, put some chromatic aberration. So it looks a little bit trippy. And you can see here
it has three colors, like green, blue, and red. So I think that's good. I want to make it a little bit closer, just like this. Yeah, Good. Alright, so we're gonna
put a little bit of textures at the
back of the train. So we can add a new layer
after the planet right here. And I probably will use a brush like the one we
use before, maybe nebula. And then we could just put
something at the background, maybe blue, just to give it
a good color at the back. And we can change the opacity
to something like this. And if he's select the
planet or the background, we can some chromatic
aberration. So it has a little bit more
color pops of color there. And I think this is pretty good. And if you really like to make it Hello little
bit more dramatic, we can add a new layer to just after the planet,
add a new layer. And we can use the, one of the basic brush
here, which is mono line. So I could just get a orange, which is kind of
what I usually do on some of my artwork
that I produce before. I'm just going to put a circle. Then circle. I'll put a network and
position it right here. Duplicate this one right here. And the back part, we can use a Gaussian
blur to make it a little like a halo
effect to the competition. So it has a little
bit like it's a kind of a sun or something like that. Yeah, This one, I think it
looks a little bit better. You can even make it chromatic aberration and a different
Gaussian Blur again, just to make it a little
bit more lights to them. If you want to
open up the space, you can also go
back to the train. And we could use one of
our monoline brush here. If you go to that layer, to the layer mass, we can remove this
part right here. We can go for this color. As you can see, it brings
back some details. So if you want to go ball black, it removes some of
the details right here to just open up the
space so we can put more. So I could probably use
how hard blend right here. And so it has more coverage. And I can just remove that part. I can make the brush
a little smaller. Actually, I'm going to
use the monoline here, so it's a little
bit more easier to control the brush to get rid
of this part right here. So we'll just kinda trace
the human here very quick. We can always refine
it a little bit later, but think this will
open up the space, yet it brings a
little bit quiet. And we can remove
some of things here. This opens up the
actual composition. We can add more elements
to it if you want to. You can go insert a photo. And I like to put this element
right here like a tree. We can put it right here. You can put it all the
way just below the train. In weaken. Voted just liked here we
can flip it to whatever. It looks better. Just like that. Gives it a little bit more framing and stuff
like that thing. It looks good. You
can add more plants as we go along to give it a little bit more
life that we're living in a different
planet now. And we have a different
way of living that we can just put
plants anywhere we want for aesthetic purposes. And to make our world
a different place. You can add, duplicate it
and put here, flip it. Think there's a problem
with how we position it. So I'm going to select two of the cactus and I
will just put it, I guess just here. And these meteorites here, I'm going to put it
just below here, so it doesn't look fake. And just below the, I guess the plants
that we just put, we can reposition them so it
shows up on the background. Something like this
happening. This is good. And a little bit of
fixing right here. We're going to make
it a little bit blurry so it doesn't
really stand out. So we focus on the
train right here. And also the other one, we're gonna make a little bit of blur so it's not too sharp. Something like this is fine. We can make it a little
bit closer right here, the same as
the other ones. So we're just doing,
you're so framing and make it work to what
we're doing right now. And we're going to add a little bit more
plants right here just to give it a
balance of color. So I'm gonna go insert photo. And we're going to insert
this one right here. I think it's too far. So I'm going to
add this one right here just to balance it. Two, because we have green here, I want to make it
also a different green and we're filling up our station with good stuff. It really looks good. I think this part right here, I'm going to remove the
cast of light blue there. So I'm gonna go here and
I'm just going to use eraser with any hard
blend tool is right here. So it's easier for
us to get rid of the cast colors
because it doesn't look good for me, at least. Just like this, I think. So. It highlights some of the part right here and it
looks pretty good right now. I wanted to make train
a little bit bigger, I guess, but not
removing the humans. Okay, now we have a problem. And also this one, I guess we're gonna
make it quite bigger. Something like this. So it pops up a
little bit better with what we're trying
to achieve here. We can also reposition
this orange. This orange, we could
reposition this one right here. So it's not too big. So it's kinda like a
balance of or trying to do maybe something like that. So it has a little bit
of breathing room. And I don't like the cactus right here and
we're gonna make it smaller, I guess, or make it bigger. I'm not sure. I think bigger is better. We're just going
to put it on top. Right here. Yeah, I think
that's pretty good. I think I'm going to add a little bit more
texture right here. Let's see if it
works pretty well. I'm gonna go to the, I'm
gonna go to the brush, go to elements and
then select Clouds. We're going to add like
pray, probably white, just to give it a little bit of an dreamy vibe
here and there. Maybe here. But it's to kinda too much. So we're just going to
tone it down quite a bit and make the opacity
less just like this. And probably I'm going to modify the Earth because
right now it's kinda big. We'll see if it
works pretty well. If, if it's a
little bit smaller. And we move this
here, make it bigger. Thing. Just like this. I guess. The birds were going to
reposition them again because it looks like they got lost into while we're
trying to do here. And the plans are really sharp. We're gonna make them
maybe motion blur in a little bit and try
to cholerae them. Yeah, I think that's good. It has a little
bit of less sharp. And the other tree, we're going to do
the same motion, blur them quite a bit. So it's not too sharp. Or maybe we can just because it's kinda right
now it's very overwhelming. We could just maybe
flip this one. Instead of having
the other galaxy. I'm just going to
probably do that. So it's not too busy. Alright, so just finishing
touches right there. We pretty much did a couple of scenes and then
we end up with this one. Obviously, you can change all the aspect where
everything gets too much. You can hide some of
the elements that you think are making the
composition a little bit busy. And you can always
modify the orientations. If you feel like
it's quite too much or you can just stick with
simple ones right here. This looks good. And there's different, there's a lot of elements
going on right here. So if you like the
color combination, so if you're into
this kind of work, you can always check
my Skillshare profile. I have a couple of these and see you guys on
the next lesson. And I hope you enjoyed this
course. See you there.
10. Closing: Thank you!: This is actually the
