1. Introduction: Hello, everyone. My name is Silvan Jake, and I'm a course instructor here on Skillshare, teaching things relating to art and marketing. And on my personal life, I work as a marketing lead for my company. In this mini course, we're going to be going into how to use auto captions intervenRsolve. I believe outdo captions are so important when relating to your audiences in this new area of social media, which is very short form content focused because it enables people to not only just see you visually, but engage with whatever you're talking about within different ways. So we're going to be going into all that and going to be using a free resource that's available and working with a free resource on Da Vinci to ensure your dreams come from what you think of to actuality, and you're able to edit each and every project that you want to work on and ensure the audiences, regardless of where they're from, can really relate to it and work with it. So that's what we're going to be going into, and let's get started. 2. Before we start: This one we're going to be installing an application called Auto SABs. So Auto Sabs is a free resource that's also available for install for anyone who is using DaventiRsolve, and it's applicable to most DaventiRsolve, but I would recommend for you to update it based, most likely update it to 19.14. That's the most recent one we have that's not on Beta version, and we'll give you a good experience when implementing or editing the subtitles that you're going to be creating for the video. Let's get started. 3. Creating the Captions with AutoSubs App: Our first start of business, when you're in your homepage, I am using MAC, as you can see right here, right, is to open your DaventiRsolve. And then I'm also going to open Google Chrome and search for AutoSabs. So I'm going to share the resource with you right here on the resources tabs. Going to open AutoSabs on this website right here. So this leads us to this leads us to the main website where Autosubs is found. And you can download AutoSab for free. You can also choose to view it on Github, which takes you through the step wise process of installing the application. But basically, you just um go down and install the application, install it, and it can work on Mac and Windows. And then you launch the installer, follow the instructions, open the DaventRsve. Now this is where we're going to just be going into the nitty gritties of how to create the subtitles. So that's what we're going to cover next. So once you've installed the application, go ahead and open DaventRsve. For me, I'm going to create a new project, right here. I'm going to create a new project and call it Skillshare, outdoor subtitles. I have a few videos that I have already created in the past, so I'm just going to work with that and, like, create something and import like a previous video that I've worked on that has, like, something that I'd need captions on. Okay. So I'm going to import this video, which is a video that I have used for my YouTube channel. And then I'm just going to import it. It has the audio as well, which is playing. So make sure that the video you select has audio. So move from the so we're going to move from this media tab to the CAT tab and just play to make sure that you have audio. Guys What I'll call Episode two of my cloning series. Amazing. So that's just one quick confirmation that we have audio. So I've reduced my video to a 1 minute length because I want to use this for short form content. And the first thing you want to go and do is go to your effects layer. Effects option is undercut. And when you're in media plu pool, when you're in media Pool, just move to the Effects tab, and then go ahead to titles. And this is very important. Select the text plus option and just drag it to our layer on edit. Yeah. So just select it. Now, here is where we're going to do a lot of the work which you need to do. So for me, I want to here's where we're going to set all the instructions for how we want our sub titles to look. So for me, I want my you can change the color. For me, today, I'm going to have one in yellow, and then I can change the font. I really like using Futura. I really like using Futura font, but we can start we can try and do something more creative like this one. This one's party LIT and then I can increase the size or reduce it. But because I know I want it to replay longer, I'm going to just keep it at the size that it was before. There, right there. Then so while you're here, you can choose to adjust different things. You can adjust the size. You can adjust the line spacing. Say for instance, if you want them to be more spaced, you can center it or align it differently based on where you want it to align. As you can see, all the changes are coming in immediately. Then you can also choose to justify it to the corner or different places. I want to put it at the center. So you can have this write on effect. So write on is basically to have it come on, like, a typewriter effect, but I don't need that because you're going to have the lines which I'm going to talk into coming in separately. For this part, I'm going to leave that out because I'm not going to be using a lot of tabs. Then, um, the next thing that you want to do is look into the settings where you're going to choose whether you want it to be at the top. So that's for the Zoom size, just go and do that. Then I'm going to select where I want it to start. And because I want it to be at the bottom, I'm going to move them to the bottom. Then for this, I'm going to move it to the center. So at its center aligned, but right at the bottom. Then other than that, I think I like it just as because I don't need a lot of background for it, but you could choose to to do a lot more, you could choose to zoom it in, like, make it a bit smaller here alternatively, or zoom it out. But I just like to leave it as because I already set the sizes of the item within it. So the next thing you're going to do once you're done with selecting it is that you're going to just close of the media poll and then you're going to go back to the media pool. And then I would like for you to click Select then move it up to the layer at the top. And then I'm going to change the name of it to Skillshare capture. This is very important because this is where it's going to pick up on. Then when you do that, you could just remove the text layer from here. Then now. So once you've moved it and selected the timeline, make sure the timeline is active, you're going to go to workspaces, scripts, sorry, Workspaces, script Auto subs to have the application open. As you see, it opens automatically. And if it doesn't open automatically, just make sure you've selected the timeline and you can close and reopen this application. Then I'll choose Skillshare caption because that's the caption style I created on either of the two tracks. So the option is to label like V two, this track two to be where the caption is and then click Start process. So this is going to create the captions for me, but it also is going to give me an SRT file, which I can later use to upload on the different platforms to ensure my video is matching the captions and wherever I want them to show up correctly within a short time. The good thing about this app is also let's just go to Maximize. It also gives you, um, an option of seeing the lines in full. Other thing that you can choose to do here is select the number of characters that you want per line. So say, for instance, I increase the characters to eight, I can update that to make sure that they match correctly. So, say, for instance, I'm using a vertical video format. I would like the videos to have fewer lines or to have fewer words on the lines, then I would be fine. So once that's done, I can choose to export this SRT file, and I'm just going to save it on YouTube, subtitles, Skillshare, and then save it. Then now when I go back to this platform, as you can see, the scripts application and just go to go into full screen for a minute. The scripts application has what I call episode has allowed us to go into having the captions exactly as I want them. In the font size, I want them number in the number of characters that I want them to be and which is so important when trying to create the caracters and the caption that you want to create. So this is what we're going to have. And then now you can go ahead and export your project and upload it as is. You can also just go back here and select the different captions. Say, for instance, you want to make some edits. Sometimes you might find that there are some spelling mistakes, for instance, and you can make some changes and add something else. So as you see, I've added an SD HS, which shows up right here. So that's something good to note. But I would recommend for you to choose a different font so that it doesn't it's not very bubbly or it doesn't show up so much on the work. And that's how we're going to do it. I hope you really enjoyed this one and you're able to implement it in your future projects. Let me know what you think. 4. Class Project & Outro: This class project, I want you to work on a short form video. Could be a 1 minute video or a video crop of what you've worked on before, and I want you to share with us what you create as the captions after you worked on the project, could be a screen grab of the whole project, could be the video itself or it could be a short hit of the replay where we can see the captions. Just make sure to review the captions when you're done editing to make sure that they are spelled correctly so that you're able to use it in your short form videos. I really do hope that you're able to implement this and it's able to bring you value in more projects to come in the future. So that covers it for using Da Vinci to create outdoor captions. I hope you really enjoyed this mini course and you're able to apply to all your short form videos and long form videos. I hope you really enjoyed this one. Let's get caught up in the next class. Goodbye.
