1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Ellen. I'm digital and traditional media artist like me. Where can you pay the flowers for about a year and 1/2 Now, today I'm gonna take you through how to make a rose from beginning to answer that Look at how pills are arranged, different types of great papers and other things that we can use to make them.
2. Materials: Okay, so we're gonna talk about materials. So the biggest part of this that you need great paper. So I got here doublet and a few different colors. I have 100 80 grams Italian Christ, which is also another option. Comes really crinkled like this, but you use it. You'll need to stretch it a bit. Not so that it has completely given any of its stretch because you still need to be able to carpet and manipulated. But you need it to be stretched out of it. Because if you're liking previous anytime you try and shave it, you just gonna get We've kind of got effecting Very important. We need glue. Um, I prefer to use a tuck igloo. You can use any type of Croft clue. But tech igloo tends to dry better on and fast up is the big thing. Doesn't take quite as long as a normal craft does. Flores type very useful for a touching the Calix at the end. Oh, surf, Alaves and things like that later on, you can get in a variety of colors, then you just want to make sure you get a good quality one on the locally wants. Just don't seem to stick a swell. What else do we need sees is definitely pen and paper off if you're gonna make your own pedals. Otherwise, you can see these exercise print off the pattern that I've got it saved in the documents section. Why kind of for, um, any changes you make to the white on Dhere, we have 20 gauge. This is covered in green thread, so it's a cloth covered wire. But you can also get one set of covered in paper or just the colored for this will use a 20 gauge. And, of course you need a brush. You don't mind getting destroyed cause you real native, very heavy, cleaner like traps or something like that to actually remove the tacky glue off it on a dish. And yeah, these are the basics that you'll need to create flowers
3. Deconstruction: Okay, so we're gonna deconstruct this, Rose, just so you could be even idea, In case you don't got one in front of you. See how all the pedals spiral. They'll flick back at the edges. Stop pulling off the Calix. You can see that. That's just five little points foolery later in the book. Take those off first. You know, I'm gonna stop with pedals. Do you can include petals like this, but I tend to just take them off Storm really lose anything but taking them out. It's a signal this adventure pedals often go groups of fives and you'll see they just kind of overlap nicely. So we'll stop pulling us apart, See how they start toe spiralling when you get close to the center here as well. And I often sit quite close together so you can see they went very far apart there just very slightly staking. This is about the size and the shape of what we're gonna create with wire and crepe and discover just to build it up. Because in this one started, like from blue, so you don't actually see the center, But I'll show you what's in there anyway. You could see in here in the middle of this, um, pinky. Dark pink stamens with tiny little dots on top of that Around the outside, you've got the the more regular ones you see in a little class with little orangey. Not you talking. Okay, so just go look at the pedals here quickly So you could say these. We'll bend back at the top. Levels were quite a good cup at the border. They come in, they kind of bring themselves into more point. They do have a bit of a point, but the way that they rolled back, you know, bring sudden a little more. You know, you get slightly irregular ones you get wants to have they Will all of them have these nice cramping on them? Some have little mix that just come out naturally. No notable of them have an actual point. Someone very around it. I'm just the way that there they kind of crinkled around the top. And what not gives them more of a point or more of her bandage top. You see, one's in the center. A really tight kind of small co at the top from the ones towards the outside, the bigger no move old just to show them off, and they will have the same cut to the bottom that go around the bottom of the body.
4. Guide to Attach Petals: go into the documents that are a touch to this clause, you'll be able to see that there, uh, two shades. So this is your Roth assembly guide, And then we also have, um, pedal guide. You didn't want to make your own, um so basically, you would have seen in the video where I pulled apart the flower. What you can do is you can just then go in hand, look at the shape of the pedals on where they sit, and you can make your own guy. But for now, while you're learning, it's easiest. Well, I found when I was learning that it was easiest, hopefully someone else's God. Um, so this is a rough one. I don't stick to this 100% but it will give you a good idea. And then you can just slightly shift things so that they would more natural. So you see here I've got thes gray and black shapes. These represent pedals on and then hear the little notches in the circle. Um, that's where approximately the center off the pedal ships it, um, and then I'm showing the biggest thing with this is you can see which ends talk 100 is so I say, for the first a lot of pedals this side of pedal one talks under pedal to so we'll go through Easiest if you can pull this help while you're working as well. Otherwise you can follow along with me in the video that you may find, um it's good to have this as well on the side.
5. Creating the Bud: Okay, so one of the first things we're gonna need to do is make the but so take one of our 20 gauge pieces of Well, if you can't get close, Dwyer just go to the bombings or any hardware store, and you can get even in coils is fine. You just have to been straighten it out yourself garage. And if you do find why the decent colored color it with zone either a paint that's designed to stick to while or you could just cover it with quite Piper's. You find a green crepe or if you you can even color your white crepe, um, and then just that and glue around the outside and that will give you a good stock. So for this one, we're gonna make the bonds what I generally do, because basically you want it to be, you know, just slightly smaller than this one, cause you want the pedals seat just about. So look at your smallest pedal. See every case we want the but to be about that tool we want just a little bit off the why to stick at the top of it as well, so it could have been all the way up, that would go down again. Now you could work from justice and rapid and rapid and wrap it like to add one more just to give it a bit more bulk. So it requires just a little bit less type. Uh, actually gonna do you want the white to come out in the middle? So I'm just gonna move that So it's sitting in the middle there. Okay, So what you can do as well, it's just a ranch is far pulling out so that it already has a little bit off the bud shape that will make it a little bit simple. Flee later. Just with. Just uses a little less, Uh, a little less floral type two. Bulk it. You've already got a little bit in the shape. Okay, so that's close enough. It's now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna get floral tape. This is not a very good quality. Once I'm going to use in the middle shoe. Well, could up a bit. And then I'm gonna cover with my jet equality tape, so there's going to start wrapping it. You can see here. How much easier this better quality type sticking moulded a lot easier, which is really what you want. A lot of different parts of flowers. Having multiple type one that's wrapped is just really helpful. All right, so good. A basic bad shape here sees a bit of a teardrop. It's not super even, but we'll, uh, be adding a little pedal. So that's doesn't matter. Tree Munch. We could add just a little bit more bulk around. Yes, I'm gonna do that quickly on. Then we'll start the next step with the pedals.
6. Cutting the Petals: Okay, so I am going to make these furs out of Dublin. It's what a creep. So first we're gonna cut out all these pieces. Um, except for these families, these two lost. This is the Kallick shape, um, for underneath. So that would need to be a greeting color. But you don't need to add it at this point, something. We'll look at it all the time. So for the moment, we're gonna know the Calix and just create the actual but shaped like goodness. Yeah, OK, so we're going to go through and you'll have the template as well cut through these four of these five of these native thes on one of these, which will use to start to cover the but so you'll notice on the patterns that I gave you as well that there's some kind of dotted suggestion lines said the overall shape that you've got there for the patents is what you're gonna go out. It works faucets. If you fold the crepe paper over a few times and cut. I usually cut about three at once on, and then you can make little variations little snips in, but don't make them too pointed the pedals, but you can always go back and treatment adjust after U shaped them. So when you're cutting these out as well, just take note of the lines you want the grain t match up with the lines because in real life, pedals have a little bit of detail in vain things that carry moisture model through. We're gonna cut these allowed and then just lay them out groups, and then we'll come back, show you the next step.
7. Petal Shaping: Okay, now that out, But is already we're gonna stop shaping all the pedals. So start with this one in stretch that brought him off it a little bit. Talk. He's still gonna be impacts. You can come back with your finger now, you can also use the pace of off cut while I'm rapid of it like that. All right, so now we put that on already. That's gonna be a very Cindy pace to make sure that we've covered all of this green on the top of the but peace three of these and you can see I've cut them all a little differently at the top. The bottom. I'm gonna cup really deeply. It needs to kind of see it really snug around the bottom of the but And so second, give rose the bottom shape. So why don't we cut deeply, you know, roll back of it. Not too much in the middle, just to give it a little bit of shaping in. Just do the same with the zones. You can pull, sir. Just kind of breath a little bit instead of pushing it back, but will give us some interest as well. So we just want to do variations in the same thing, but all with the date covered bottom on top. It's because you'll notice. In the middle of Rose, everything's a little bit cooled back, all right, that's else into my strong little kind of ready there. Now we're going to do the same for all the rest of these with variations on the top. So what, we're gonna Juries As they come through to the bigger one, we're gonna gradually bin them back more and more and rolling back more, more. So you're the middle ones because they need to be quite tight. We just give them a little bit of interest around the tops of the pedals. And then let's say you get closer to the outside, you give them more. I never get to the very outside pedals deeply cut them at the bottom again as well. These these could be rolled back a lot. Well, the old way, doc a little the way back. How the pedals often have a relapse can do a bit of cupping reverse on the top there. See, it's well on drumming variations of this, and so I'll leave you to copy pedals now, and I'll come back when they're all shaped so we can attach the
8. Attaching the Petals part 1: All right, So we're going to start the touching pedals now. I'm going to start with this one to make sure that we've covered all of the green so that there's no holes. None of the green type on the blood shows through. I'm just gonna wrap it in a spiral. All right, so now that that ones that touched we will do the first layer of pedals I need to make note of which sides facing up from which sides Tuck handle it this way. The position no one judges need to keep please to tuck under. Well, all right, so the 1st 1 touch 12. But first, we're gonna just touch a little bit of types that we can always remember. 12 is finally easiest. Just to talk to you guys to look at it is a bit of a clock face the where the pedals are arranged. The last one's gonna go 12 I believe the right hand side. No touch. So you want to be just about a millimeter above the little spiral we put in? Oh, that in that evening aside, open center of that one should sit around 12 2nd 1 will sit around 4 30 for the center of it. My mom will have it took to you and the awesome go around here at 7 30 month, tucked in under the first floor. Just make sure they're all smug, right, And that's the first lot of pedals. We'll come back and do the next look.
9. Attaching the Petals part 2: Okay, so we're gonna arrange the next set of pedals. First one's gonna go around 10 o'clock mark here. We're gonna have to keep actually gonna go throughout, smug in. So we don't have to worry about keeping aside up. No, it's just about a millimeter high. A little sort of pedals. Just squish it all here. Okay. The next one's gonna go about five o'clock. Mark more. - Okay , this is the next to they get a go around three o'clock, and some of I was just staggered from one of the ones who put here full hunger around here . So just office. Well, from a last look. All right, so just make sure that still screws down, and then we'll come back and do the next lot of pedals.
10. Attaching the Petals part 3: okay. We could about Sudden now, okay. And just any of them off to their attached if you need to as well. Okay, so the first pedal here, Miss Mom, we're gonna refuge it that without a clock now, we're gonna leave one side open. You can write just slightly higher than the previous look can leading this letter. Now, the second one's gonna go in about two o'clock and tuck under the 1st 1 We couldn't. You should only accept right hand driven No to get him down. And the next one is gonna go around 2 30 It's gonna talk on the tour and have the other H open. The next one's gonna go just slightly. Stake it back in at 11. 30. So that was also gonna talk under the number two that will be put in now. I don't believe any injury prone for the storm and five is gonna tuck It took under there at about five o'clock. I was in the start of that year. I was gonna took under that. That's the last petal for the slope. - Make sure it's a little tucked in at the bottom as well. No one ready for the lost. So I was a pedal to stop
11. Attaching the Petals part 4.1: All right. So for the last little petals, it's usually good if you let it dry out a little bit. You just have to make a judgment. Coal. If it's feeling really wet and soggy at the bottom, then you might want to leave it, sit a little bit between put the next lot of pedals on. I mean, you can power through that, You Then we'll end up waiting quite a while at the end for them to dry. Okay, So good. Next load of pedals. We're doing two sets me first thing we're gonna put that position 12 on the clock. Chris, that's not gonna took under anything, sir. Yes. And you're just gonna start leaving them a little further opening out this time and around the same height as the previous ones, But not any higher. It's when you get closer to the outside, the stuff to him. It's the 1st 1 The next one's going to go around 1 30 We're gonna make sure we leave. Do you say German signature from here for the next one? But you're gonna put in on the six o'clock mark. I make sure waving a German on this woman's will. I just took it under that one on that side. We have finished clearing deficit, but the next one was gonna go in about eight o'clock, very here. - How quickly? The previous model back down over the top. The last one's gonna go in that about 10 o'clock. So up here is gonna tuck it under the number eight. Yeah, it's gonna talking on the number four. Yeah, go with the such down. And then you got the lost three. That will touch next. Yes, definitely. Go. Diversion coming along there. So put us three pedals on in the next year.
12. Attaching the Petals part 4.2: so you can make a bit of a judgment call now and see where you feel. A native. You can also add a couple more pedals if you want. Just gonna let these now for the last three as well. You can kind of let them draped open as much as you want. Still, finish rounding into shape. Okay, Put him here last year here.
13. Final Thoughts: Okay, so now we have finished off this Rose. Congratulations. So you can add a few more pedals if you want around to see what looks natural. And in the next few tutorials I will show you how to make Calix is and leaves.
