1. CGPT Introduction: Greetings. I'm Vanessa S, and welcome to my
course Chat GPT, the tool that you didn't
know that you needed. Artificial intelligence is in every aspect of our daily lives, and people are
literally clamoring, trying to understand it,
and that's understandable. So in this course,
I'm going to show you how to navigate hat GPT. We're going to start
with the basics of what exactly is hat GPT? And what does it do? What
does GPT even stand for? Do you know? Well, in this
course, you will learn. We're going to look at some of the basics that are involved, how to create prompts, how to align your questions, how to get the answers
that you're seeking. We're also going to look
at the dynamics of how you can use the tool in both your personal and your
professional lives. There are a lot of activities in hat GPT is large
and it's broad, and there are so many
different nuances. So in this course, we're
going to cover a lot of it. My goal for you is to learn
how to not only use hat GPT, but to be comfortable in using chat GPT for whatever it is
you are interested in doing, whether it's writing,
creating schedules, just learning the
platform itself. At the end of the course, you will have a class project. And I will discuss
the class project in depth in the final lesson. So if you're ready
to learn about Chat GPT and all
its functionalities and how it can help you, if you're ready to learn how Chat GPT is the tool that you didn't know
that you needed, if you're ready, I'm
ready. So let's get to it.
2. ChatGPT What Is: So what exactly is hat GPT?
And how can it help you? At its core, hat GPT is a generative pre
trained transformer, a sophisticated AI model designed to process and
generate human like texts. It draws from a vast amount of pre trained data to provide coherent and
meaningful responses. The capabilities of
hat GPT are endless. However, there are four areas in which hat GPT excels
in a variety of tasks. First being writing,
whether it's emails, essays or social media captions, chat GPT can generate drafts
tailored for your need. The second is problem solving. Are you stuck on a task? It can help you brainstorm
ideas or create solutions. Summarizing is another. You can use it to break down long articles or documents
into concise summaries. And lastly, there are
creative applications. From writing poems to
generating story ideas, hat GPT can spark
creativity in unique ways. However, like any tool, chat GPT has its limitations. The first being accuracy. While it's trained on a
wide range of information, it's not always up to date
or factually accurate, especially for recent events. Then there's bias. The model can reflect biases present
in the training data, which may affect its responses. There's also a lack of
true understanding. Chat GPT doesn't think
or reason like a human. It predicts text
based on patterns. So its answers can sometimes be overly confident but incorrect. And lastly, there is the
dependence on input quality. The output is only as
good as the input. Vague or unclear prompts can lead to
unsatisfactory results, which is the reason why
we spend a lot of time on developing and crafting
that most accurate prompt.
3. ChatGPT Work: How exactly does hat GPT
work? Let's explore. At its core, Chat GPT uses a deep learning model
called a transformer. Think of it as a
predictive engine. It analyzes your
input and predicts the next word or sequence of
words based on the contexts. For example, if you type, write a summary
about baking a pie, it will use its training to
craft a coherent response. Chat GPT strength lies in its ability to understand
patterns and language. It has been pre trained on an enormous dataset that
includes books, articles, and even conversations
which allow it to know about a wide
range of topics. However, remember
that it doesn't have true understanding of
real time awareness. It relies entirely on the
data it was trained on. The more specific and
detailed your prompts, the better the output will be. Later in the course,
we'll discuss how to craft prompts to
get the best results. For now, think of chat GPT as a helpful tool that thrives
on clear communication.
4. ChatGPT Practical Applications: Hi, everyone. Welcome back. In this lesson, we
are going to explore the Chat GPT homepage
and workspace. This is the actual
Live interface. Okay. So as you can see, I have the Chat GPT home page. This is the page that you will receive once you
access the system. You do have to create a profile, and you will select whether you want the free version
or the paid version. Free version comes with everything that the
paid version does. However, there are limitations. So Chat GPT will allow you
to experiment and explore, but you either have limited time or a limited
number of iterations, but you will be able to
explore the whole platform. The paid version, of course, is more robust and allows you to do even more than what
you see on the screen. So let's explore the homepage. This is the workspace.
I'm calling it homepage and workspace
interchangeably, but this is the workspace. This is the area
that you receive once you access the platform. Over here on the right hand side at the top in the circle, you'll have your initials, I'll be your first and
last initials or however you state your name
when you subscribe. If you click on it, you'll
see that you have a panel. It'll show your GPTs
and it states M GPTs. This shows your GPTs. And I'll show you what that
means in a few seconds. And then you can
customize your GPT, and then you have your settings. You'll also have the
platform that you're using. I'm using a MAC, so I can
download the MAC OS app. And then, of course, I can
upgrade my plan or logout. When I click on settings, notice that another
panel is open. This panel allows you
to change the theme, personalize it, personalize
your experience altogether. You have Autodetec when
it comes to language, or you can set your language, and you can archive your chats, as well as manage them. So what I would suggest when it comes to
managing your chats, all of your chats will
historically archive. However, when you start
to run out of space, the system is going
to ask you if there's any chats that it can delete
because you need more space. You can always go into the archive section
here and manage the chats you want to
archive so that you can continue to have the
space that you need to work. On the left side,
you have a sidebar, which you can open and close
the side bar if you want more space or if you
want to see your chats. You also have your search bar for you to search your chats. And the reason why
the search bar is very important is because every single chat that you
create is being logged here. In this panel. As you can see, with my chats, I can go
all the way back to 2023. And so, of course,
I'm not going to remember each and every
one of the chats. But if I'm looking for
something specific, I can put it in a search bar, and then it'll
populate it for me. It'll take me back to it. And then, of course,
the new chat. Also, in this panel,
you have the chat GPT. This shows you which GPT
you're actually using. And then you can explore GPTs. These are all the GPTs that
Chat GPT has available. And I like the way they have
them compartmentalized. Of course, you have
your featured, and the featured are
the ones that are curated from top
picks from this week. These are the ones
that people are using and they're recommending. And then you have your trending. You also have the chat GPTs that are created by the
Chat GPT team, and then you'll notice that
you have specific GPTs for specific tasks like writing or productivity, research
and analysis. Now, all of these are
also at the top here. Once you determine
a specific GPT that you want to work with, you can put that
GPT in your GPTs. Remember, in the settings in your GPTs and then you
can always go back to it. Now, each GPT does
something different. These are specialized GPTs
to do specific things. However, what we are focusing on today is just the general GPT. But I just wanted you to see
how to explore each of them. To go back to the
general homepage, you just click your back
arrow and you're back here.
5. Building Skills Part 1: Now let's look at
our main workspace, the center part right here. These four boxes, they're
going to change frequently, but they are idea generators. These are prompts that
you can use right now to create something that is relevant to you or
of interest to you. So for instance, right
now, mine is saying, create a Renaissance style
painting, experience, so like a local, create a chart based on my data or find the decade
that a photo is from. The reason why these
are important is because it provides
you with an idea of how to create a prompt to do the work that
you want Chat GPT to do. Notice the words
that are being used. Create, experience, find. These are all action words. These are all words
telling the system to do something specific, okay? I want to take a look at
each of them and show you specifically why the prompt works and not just
why the prompt works, but how using the words and phrases will provide you with the output
that you want. Let's start with creative
Renaissance style painting. Now, when you click on one
of these idea generators, you're actually clicking on a prompt for the system
to do something. So it's going to
provide you an output. So we're telling it to create a Renaissance style
painting of a Mars Rover. And we're saying use techniques like chiascuro and a
warm color palette. So what did Chat GPT do? Well, it created a Renaissance style
painting of a Mars Rover. The words and the phrases
are important because it said to use a specific technique and to use a specific
color pattern. What to do with kids art? Now, this is asking a
question of chat GPT. Which is something that you can you can tell it to do something. You can ask it for something. You can ask for suggestions. And this is asking
for a suggestion. When you look at the little
icons in each of the boxes, the create an image has a photo. If it's asking a question,
there's a light bulb, if it's something as a document to summarize or if it's a
text or something like that, you'll see that there's
a document image here, a little icon here. And if it's an email, you'll see this little icon. Okay, so let's go with the
idea what to do with kids art, since that is the prompt
that's available. What are five creative things
I can do with my kids art? I don't want to throw them away, but it's also much clutter. And that is a question.
So what does Chat GPT do? It gives you five creative
and practical ideas for preserving and
showcasing your kids art. If you ask Chat GPT a specific question
with specific details, it's going to give you a
response. For that question. In this case, we're asking
for five creative things. If you were to take out the five and just say
creative things, it may give you 20, 30, 100. Okay, so the specificness of it all really and
truly does matter. Now notice, also in this prompt, it seems like the person
who wrote the prompt is talking to the system.
That is very common. And understand that Chat GPT, as an AI model, it is a conversationalist. You are providing dialogue. You are getting specific. You can talk to it like you
would talk to a person, and it is going to
respond to you. Like a person would
respond to you. The difference is
it is not human, but it is trained to
respond in that matter. Okay, let's move on
to the next one. Now, this one is asking for it to explain something, okay? And also notice that as
I'm going through these, notice how they're changing because I told you they change. And so now since I got
the question out the way, this one is saying the
second one now is saying, create a chart based on my data. Alright. So these are
all idea generators, and they're going to change. You don't have to use
them for your prompts. You can create your own prompts. But I'm using these just
to show you how they work, how you can use the words, the verbiage, the tags
to create your prompt. And then the type of
response you receive. Okay, so this one is saying, explain nostalgia
to a kindergarten. And notice that the icon
is now a knowledge icon, meaning that this is
something that is going to provide information
and knowledge. It's a learning experience.
So let's click on it. Can you explain the concept of nostalgia to a kindergartener? And what does it say?
Sure. And then it gives you the explanation
for a kindergartener. And if you look at
the explanation, it's written in a way that
you could actually take this statement and talk to a kindergartener so that
they would understand. So if you were just to say, can you explain the
concept of nostalgia, it would be written in a
more technical fashion, probably for an adult. But because this
specifically says a kindergartner, that's
what it's written for. Okay. So the next one
I'm going to look at is the Make Me a
personal webpage. And the reason why I'm
going to use this one is because something different
is going to happen with this. This is a dialogue prompt. Create a personal webpage
for me on a single file, ask me three questions first on whatever
you need to know. That's telling it. You ask
the questions that you need, and I will give
you the responses. Communication and dialogue.
6. Building Skills Part II: The last feature that I want to show you is the
voice mode feature. This is a really cool feature. So the voice mode enables you to talk to the GPT instead
of typing with the GPT. Soon as I click on it, you're going to see what
looks like a circle blob, and then it's going
to start talking. Let's just listen. Let's
get started. Sure thing. What would you like
to do first? Can you explain Chat GPT voice mode? Absolutely. Chat GPT's
voice mode lets you have a conversation with me using speech instead of tything. You can ask questions,
get information, or just chat all by
speaking and listening. Anything specific
you'd like to know? Yes. Can I change the voices? Yes, you can. There are different voice
options available. So you can pick the
one you like best. If you'd like to change it, you just need to go into the settings and
choose a new voice. Would you like to
know how to do that? No. What kind of questions or
directions can I give you? You can ask me all sorts of questions like
general knowledge, how to guides, recipes, or even help with planning
and decision making. You can also ask for stories, jokes or just have
a casual chat. Anything in particular
you'd like to try? No. Can I get a written text
transcript afterwards? Yes, you can get a written transcript
of our conversation. After we're done, you can save or review the text
from the conversation. Would you like to know
how to access it? Yes. To access the transcript, you'll typically find it
in the chat history or conversation logs of the app
or platform you're using. If you need more specific steps, I can help with that, too. Thank you. You're welcome. If you need anything
else, just let me know. Now, how cool is that? Now, how cool is that? And so there's nothing
left for me to say on how to use the voice
mode for chat GPT, because I think Chat GPT just told you herself.
So that's it. That's how you use chat GPT. It's as easy and simple as that. The more you work with
it, the more you learn. The more you play around, the more interests
you will have. It is a wonderful platform, and just take the time and do everything you
can. You can't break it. So don't worry about doing the wrong thing. Do everything. Use the idea generator to get ideas on how to
craft your prompts. Use your responses, tweak them. You can always go
back and tweak them. And I suggest highly
that you tweak them. If you add a prompt and you don't get exactly
what you're looking for, tweak the prompt. And
so there you have it. Now you should be comfortable
with using chat GPT. I can't wait to see what you work on and
what you come up.
7. ChatGPT Final Project: Well, hi there. If
you've gotten this far, that means you have made it through the course
and you're ready for your Cross project. Well,
let's talk about that. For your course project, I want you to create an
email using Chat GPT. You're going to create a prompt, and then you're going to feed
that prompt to Chat GPT. It's going to give you an email. Now, if you're satisfied
with the email, then you're going to submit that email to your class
project on your profile. If you're not, you're
going to reiterate it. Provide more information until you get the email that you want, which is going to be the email that you submit for
your class project. So basically, in the end, I want you to submit for your class project,
a completed email. It doesn't matter how many
iterations, how many changes, I want you to submit
an email that was created from your prompt
and given the chat GPT. Once you have completed this project, when
you're satisfied, then I want you to upload your email to your
class project folder, the my project folder
on your profile. And if you really
want to be daring, submit the class project to the discussion section so that other classmates can
view your work as well. And they can comment on it, and you can comment on theirs. Now, the thing about
the class project, if you do make iterations, if you do make changes
or revisions to your prompt, let me know that, as well that this is the
prompt that you started with, and then this is some of the
revisions that were made. So I want to see your progression
through your project. You don't have to
give me all of them. If you make a lot of changes, just show me where you
started and then show me how you ended, and
that will suffice. I'm excited to see
your final project.
8. ChatGPT Wrap Up: Well, look at you. You have
made it to the absolute end, and that is awesome. I hope you had a
wonderful time and enjoyed going
through each lesson to learn more about Chat GPT. There's so much more to learn, but you learn by exploring
and you learn by doing. And I want you to continue
by doing just that. We covered a lot
of the basics and essentials to get
started with Chat GPT. We learned how to
create prompts. We learned how to
formulate our questions. We learned how to tell it what activities
we want it to do. We also learned how to
use these applications for practical use and experience for both
personal and business. So I'm confident that you should be more confident
in how you are experiencing using
the hatGPT platform because not only is it
fairly simple to use. The more that you use it and the more that you play with it, the more that you
will learn and the more the platform
will learn about you. So continue on with
your learning. Continue on with exploring, because the more
that you do that, the better that you'll
become in using Chat GPT. So again, I'm Vanessa S, and thank you for
participating in my course. Check out the other courses
that I have on Skill Share. I'm pretty sure you can find
something else that you want to explore and
learn until next time.
