1. 1. Trailer and What you Need: Hi guys, My name is
because I've been a magician for the
past 14 years. And in this Skillshare course, we're going to be looking
at a clerk magic effect, which I like to call the
design dynamic playing chords. In this effect,
we're going to be showing three chords and they're going to
change the design on their back one after the other. At the core of this
magical effect, or three different ways
to count playing chords. By counting playing cards. I'm now referring to counting
cards in a blackjack game. That's a different,
different types of course. But actually counting cards in a way in which
we can actually conceal information
from the spectator so that we can have
a magical effect. For this Skillshare course, you are going to be needing
three playing cards and hence, no knowledge of any
slight offense. So if you're a
complete beginner, this is okay because
I'm actually teaching it as if you don't
know anything about slider, fan or Card Magic. Welcome guys to the
dynamic playing cards. Getting into it.
2. 2. Performance: What I have here are
three courts would have seemed design on the back. What is nice about
discourages that if you leave them long
enough on the table, they will actually change
their back design. Now we have a red design
on the queen of hearts. We have a red design on
the ace of diamonds, and we have a redesign
on the seven of hearts. Quite a fascinating thing
to happen. Don't you think? Leave them long
enough again and they will change their bag
design to a blue design. Now we have a blue design of blue design and another
blue design on each card. These are one electric cars
design dynamic playing cards. And this is what we're going to learn in this Skillshare course.
3. 3. The Playing Cards: The first thing that
we're going to need is three poker playing cards from three different
decks of cards. Now, I have chosen them so that they're pretty
different from one another. We have blue, we have
red and we have black. One is minimal,
and the other one are quite heavily
designed on the back. Not only the bag design is
different from one another, but the plague course themselves differentiate from one another. We have a number code
here with many spots. We have an ace which
is a symbol of itself, and we have a chord, chord, the queen of hearts. I've chosen these so
that even when counting, people have a visual
stimuli which they can see playing cards
of different value. It's something that
magicians Like doing because it feels like it
helps the magical effect. Now once you have the
three chosen cards, please them in any order. I like to start with the
black one on the bottom, and I put the cards either on the table or I put
them in my pocket. Now, let's look at the three different
ways in which we are going to be
counting these codes.
4. 4. The First Phase: The first way that we're
going to be counting the cards is called the
floor station count. Using this count, we're
basically going to be showing the three chords as having a black back when in reality they're all different. You already know this. The way that we do
this is by holding the packet of codes
at the corner with the thumb at the bottom and the middle finger right
here at the other corner. We're holding the packet right over here in this position, just like forming a C with
our right hand here are the coordinates
and we're turning our restores the right
showing the bottom one. We pull the card from the
top with our left thumb, will show the next one. Then we take the next
card and we showed the last one a beautiful count. The floor station
currently it's easy, it's visual, and it
always flies by. People never really see that. You're showing the
same card three times. It's a beautiful count. This is actually what
we're going to be using at the first phase.
5. 5. The Second Phase: In the second phase,
we're actually using a succession of double lifts. We are going to be
showing that the queen of hearts now has a
different vector design. By doing this, we're
actually pushing two chords over here and
turning them as one. This is what it's called
the double turnover. Now, in order to do this, it might feel difficult, but because you
have three chords, it's quite easy to hold back one single chord and
push the other tool. We do this by moving
our left thumb at the outer left corner
of the three chords. We go at the side of the packet and we push it towards the left,
towards the right. I apologize. By pushing it, those two
chords will stay as one, while the seven of hearts
is left back in the palm. And just push those two. I apply quite a bit of
pressure over here. And I turned the card
back on the deck. Again, I pushed the chords and I turned the code back as it was. If you don't want to do a
double turnover each time, you can actually out to
jog that the course, this is what it's
called an outer jog. This actually allows me to
grab the chords instantly without having to do another
double turnover like this. Just put them back. I think the Queen and I put
it on the bottom. It's very important to notice
how I put it on the bottom. I took it and I went like this similar motion that we're going to be doing
in quite a second. We always want to mimic the exact same motions
throughout the effect. Now we have the ace of
diamonds were gonna push it, doing it and show it
that has got a red back. If previously you've
pushed it out, jogged it, then you're gonna do
the same thing with a single cored out Jack the card. We're gonna take the ace and
notice how we're taking it. We're pushing all three chords. We're taking just the eighth. Then the second card we're
gonna be pulling back, but at the same time, left pinky is going to push up on the card and
hold a pinky breed. This is what is
called a pinky break. Probably, if you're
watching this tutorial, you already know what
a pinky break is. We hold a pinky break
or there and we stood the ace of
diamonds in that gap. At this point, we're going to do another double turnover by
pushing those two courses. One, turning the cords
which show the bag design. And we turn them
back as they were. To finish off this entire phase, we're going to push the
last card as well to seven and put it on the
bottom of the deck. Again, we leave the
course down and now we can continue
with the third phase.
6. 6. The Third Phase: We're now going to be doing what is called a Roomba account created by the master magician, JP value Arianna from France. We grabbed the cards and we grabbed them just
like in the first station count over here, we turn our wrist to reveal that they have been
changed and we put them in the left hand. Notice how I just clip them with my thumb and index finger
will show the first card. Now we turn our
right wrist inwards. We place the thumb
on the face of the cards and the rest of
the fingers on the side. This is actually going to
help us push two cards from over here as one while
we retain the top card. So we grab the cards, be prepared to push
those two cards. We turn around and then
we push those two chords. As we pull this
card at an angle, it happens quite automatically
that this angle is itself. We've pushed the thumb, pulls it at an angle. This point we're gonna leave
the cards from underneath, just fall down by releasing our group on them
with our right hand. And then we're
going to turn them around in the left hand. As the first chord
go underneath again, we turn the second card, and this is the third card. The runbook count
is actually the most difficult of the three. So let's go over it once more. We'd have the three chords. It was the blue design, yes. We grab it from underneath. We come at the side
with our fingers, turn our wrist, and
then we pulled the car. I apologize, I have to do
it from here. Grab it. We turn and we pulled the cart. This is basically, you can think of it the other
way around this world. You're holding those
two chords and you're moving with your
thumb at an angle. Just the thumb is moving while those two chords
are staying as one. So you either push those two
cards and you angle this or those two cords stay as your thumb moves,
stores and angle. Try both and see which
one better fits. You're handling. I do this by actually applying pressure from the
top with my thumb. I apply pressure
down on the card and then I move the car
towards an angle. And because my fingers are
here at the side of the cards, these two cards
cannot actually move together if they
wouldn't be there. This is what would happen. See it actually
spreading all of them. But if my fingers are there at the side and I pull this card, those two will stay as one. I reverse this codes over
here in case they split up. It doesn't matter
if they split up. You come here, you
start reversing them. If you would reverse
them like this, people would see
the code that it has a different
banks on what you do with your index finger. You square it up with
your left thumb, you square root up as well. Please the court
down, turnaround and continue doing
the Roomba count. One last advice on
the Roomba account is when you're actually doing this, see if you do it way too soon. People are going to see
the back of the card. You have to do it when
you're around here. We pull the card down. Not yet, Not yet here. When you do it fast,
it happens instantly. And that is the third phase. And congratulations, you have
learned the Roomba count.
7. 7. Putting it all together: Now let's put
everything together. What we've learned,
those three counts and tight all into
a beautiful story. I like putting the packet with the black card in my pocket. I tell people that
have recently acquired three very beautiful chords that are actually designed dynamics. Notice that I am seeing
this as I'm actually presenting the design on
the back all being black. The court starts with
the same design, but if you leave
them long enough on the table here for a second, I picked them up and say, What's fascinating is that
design on the back changes. Notice I saved this one. I actually turn the court around to reveal that the
design has changed. This actually helps
have a bigger impact on the spectator as
you're revealing and seeing what's happening
at the same time. Do the first one, I
put it underneath, the ace of diamonds as well, has changed on the back. And the seven of hearts
has changed as well. Or three chords now have
a different design. But since there
are three chords, I will store that they were
going to be three designs. So let's see, yes, we have a last design as well. You can see the ace of
diamonds is now blue, the queen of hearts is now blue, and the seven of hearts
is now blue as well. Notice how every time
I take the time to name the card and the design on the back in the
beginning, I don't do it. I just present the
course because they're just three normal
playing chords. I don't, I don't really feel the need to say
anything about them. They've seen the phases, they've seen the backs. But now, as they change color, they become much more important. Notice how the Queen of
Hearts has changed its back. The seven of hearts
as changed this back. And even the ace of diamonds
has changed, is back. Now if we leave
them long enough, they're going to
change their back. Again. We have the seven of hearts, hope right over there. That was a nice mistake. The queen of hearts and
the ace of diamonds. All of them now have a
red design on the back. At the end, you
can even throw in a bonus floor station
count if you want. It is not necessary. But what is necessary is that you have a concept around it. And this is the concept
that I really loved. Design dynamic of cards.
8. 8. Making it YOU: Now that you've learned the
design dynamic playing cards, you actually have three
tools in your hand. Actually, I would say
for tools in your hand, you'd have three different ways of counting playing cards, which you can use them in other magical effects which you have learned
or want to learn. And you have a trick, a trick, idea, concept, design, dynamic, plain quotes. This is what I love most about learning magic from
other magicians, is that if they come
up with a nice story, you can actually
use the same story, but presented in
your own unique way. You have to remember
that you have your own unique personality and I have my own
unique personality. At the end of the
day, if you sit down and come up
with your own story, then you're going to
have something that caters to your personality
and character. And it's going to be
much more personal. And when magic is personal, it feels much more impactful. So my advice for you before
we end, I want to say IN, but we're ending this
Skillshare course together is to take the time to
make what you perform. Personal bindings Bears, Thank you very much for watching
my Skillshare course. You can learn much more
sleight-of-hand encourage magic here on my Skillshare. Be sure to check them out. And I hope you have an
amazing day shuffling cards, counting them and doing match.
