1. Popsicles Intro: Hello and welcome to this class. My name is Hayley, and today we are going to be painting these delicious and beautiful popsicles. I will be guiding you through the whole process without a sketch in there. But you can still, at the end of the class to be able to paint. And then I am showing you in the class, I can't wait to see your creations and I hope to join me for this class. In the class, we're going to be creating our own color channels, focusing on vibrant, summery colors, like the popsicles. Remember that you can follow me here on Skillshare so you don't miss any nucleus a bike share with you. Let's begin. I will see you in the next video. 2. Popsicles: The Supplies: Let's take a look at the splice that we are going to be using during this class. We need watercolor paper. I am using ash. This is a very good quality watercolor paper. You can use whatever you have at hand. We need a clean towel. As always. Round brushes, clean water, a little bit of salt to create texture. And watercolors. I suggest that you choose very bright and happy summery colors to paint your popsicles. So I will see you in the next video. 3. Watercolor Chart: It is time to playing with our watercolors colors and then choose them to popsicles. And here I will be playing with other colors I have in mind to use. During the paintings. You can choose all the bright and beautiful colors that you want and played with me creating your own watercolor charts. This is a very important part in creating your art pieces. Because when you create your color palette ordered color chart, you will interact with watercolors and see how they react, how intense or how light you can play with this color. And then choose the shape that you really want to express. Injured painting. We're bringing in all the summery vibes. I will try to choose all the beautiful vibrant colors to paint my popsicles. And you will see that this is a really fun activity. That it will bring you meditative state. Then your intuition and your creativity will flow while you are just playing with the colors. When you feel uninspired, just take your watercolors and start painting in a clean page. And you will see how the ideas will flow into your consciousness and you will feel inspired to create something beautiful, just blazing with watercolors. This is a activity that every artist needs to include in their daily practices. Because this will create in your hands and in your mind and in your disposition to create this openness. And then you will be inspired to create something different or something beautiful, or just let creativity flows into the paper. Then you can mix the colors and see how they react together. Add more water or less water, add more pigment. In some places of the painting. See how they react when they are dry or when they are wet still. And then just see the magic of watercolor. Because, because watercolors are really a magic medium to work with. And sometimes they half lives on themselves and they make beautiful fin, final pieces that you didn't expect them to turn that way. Then just blending with my colors that I am seeing job. Very nice combinations that I will want to try. And please do the same. I will let this dry and then I will see you in the next period. 4. Popsicles 1: How to paint them: All right, It is time to start painting our popsicles. I have here my round brush. And if you can paint a rectangle, then you are set for this beautiful painting where we are going to be painting popsicles, pattern. I will start by tracing very lightly with my first color, which is pink, a rectangle. Just tracing the lines. And then we can proceed to add the color inside the rectangle. Like this. Just with water. We are we going to be painting using the technique wet on dry. And starting with the first legged, very, very light in color. Whichever color to use, please just make it very light. Then you will start adding more layers to make it pop with the color. You will see how beautiful this turnout. Try to start then adding a little bit more of pigment on the edges to create a deepness in the paint. And then water to dilute and move your color around the rectangle. We are going to be painting the letters without letting the painting completely dry. We are going to be adding pigment and adding water in them, moving the color and then picking a color again and adding color until we see that the change that we want to create is, I want to create a very bright pink because this is a strawberry or raspberry, because they are my favorite colors or flavors in popsicles. Very gentle and very conscious about your movement with your brush. So now that I see the color is really pretty, I will start painting this thick using brown. And I will do the same thing with a very light shade of my brown. I will paint the stick of my popsicle, not touching the color of my popsicle because this is still wet. Now, this dry and you can see the difference in pigment is a more bright color. And I will start with my second popsicle, doing the same with a very light color. In this case, is it yellow because it is a Mongo strawberry popsicle? And I will trace using my brush, doing the lines, tracing the line and then just covering the whole surface of my rectangle. Using what I want this, I wanted this to be very light because then I will mix this with another color which is an asset. And then they will mix together. And do, We'll see how beautiful and delicious they will do an out. I can just reshape me my rectangle. So it looks like a real popsicle. Now, I think in my brush and picking up the next color which is red and adding, eating some places with a lot of water. So the color line. And with the other color that I have in my paper ready. Now I will use a little bit of salt to create a little bit of texture. If you know my other class about texture, I guess blend AID defining beautiful techniques where you can learn how to create the extra intubating. You can check it out in the about section for this class. Now, I am painting the steak and I will let this dry. 5. Popsicles 2: Creating the Pattern: Let's continue with our Popsicle pattern. And now we are taking in the color green because our next toxicant is a key we flavor. And we are going to proceed the same way. Very light in green. And we start to paint a rectangle. How easy it is this, this flavor popsicle written out very delicious. Recovered then the rectangle inside with a very light getting in, we reshape the rectangle using the same check. Then we start to add little touches of pigment. And the reshaping our rectangle is always a good thing. This is the magic of watercolor. You can shape before you finish your pieces. Adding more pigment on the edges and then moving either with your brush. If you're using round brushes, is very convenient because this type of brushes retain more illiquid on them. So it is easier to move your watercolor and to reactivate if they add a little bit that I do this until you feel your popsicle looks amazing and delicious. And shape rectangle as you see they need it. Now. I feel like it is complete. So I will add this thick, very light. And then a little bit of pigment. We are going to be doing this later. So don't worry, if this looks a little bit pale, it will have more colors later when we add the other layers. Or 3 first popsicles are. So we will continue with the next one using a aquamarine color here. And I don't know what flavor disease, we can call it blueberries. And then I will mix it with the pink to give a little bit of contrast and to make it a little bit of violet, we'll see. Now we will add a pink from the bottom to the upper side of our painting. And then we will try to mix these two colors. You can do your creativity to go wild and use the colors that you prefer or the flavor that you prefer for popsicles. So they look like your likings. I think a little bit more of pigment on the edges and on those places that I think it needs. And using a reasonable quantity of water. So my colors mix together. For now they look a little bit like a mess, but you will see when they are dry, the two colors we're, makes very nice together. Now you can have a better look of our blueberry gain of popsicle. I can't wait to see what kind of popsicles you are going to be painting in sharing with us? Yeah. Now I'm painting this thick. Remember, don't touch the popsicle body when it is dry because then the color will mix. Now I will be adding a little bit. The second layer on the other sticks because they are dry. So I can bring it together to my popsicle. As you can see here. You can add as many layers as you wish. So the color looks like you want it to look. The stakes are always like a pale brown. 6. Popsicle 3: Adding Dripping Effects: At this point, or salt is already dry, or painting is already dry. So I will remove the salt very carefully. You can see those beautiful blends between the mango and the strawberry flavor on my popsicle. And now it's time to add some details to make this popsicle a little bit more appealing and beautiful. I will paint son lines using the same shade or a little bit darker that the popsicle flavor or color. Like this. I will paint lines, you know, how the popsicle looks like in real life. So I will try to imitate it the same for them. In this case, adding this line in the center of the popsicle using my brush. The smallest one I have, and the paint. Adding two lines, do not how a popsicle looks like. So we're trying to do the same. This is a little bit trying to recreate a real popsicle. Using my paint, my watercolor paint in my brush. We showed a color that you are using. You just need to do the same process using the color that you have. And we're going to be doing the same with all our popsicles. So they look like the reappears popsicles shape the lines so they look cohesive and harmonious. This is the best part of using watercolors and then with a little bit of water, go through the lines again. So the colors mix well with are already dry. Popsicle behind it. Go gentle, beriberi chain. No need to rush. I will do this until I see that my lines look cohesive and then I will let this dry. Adding more water, of course. And you can see how the color move. And it doesn't matter if the color mix or expand integers. You can always wait for it to dry. And then correct if it isn't needed. I went to add some little torture source, Parker, with my brush. So it looks like the popsicle had some pieces from the fruit, from the Raspberry here. And I'm just moving the watercolor around. You will see how cute and how beautiful this effect turned out when it is dry. I just, I'm just moving the water color with my brush in water as you can see. And then just going through all the lines again. Trying to define those lines with a watercolor. This is the idea here. When a popsicles go out from the freezer and then they melt, and then they go again in the freezer and then they are frozen again. This is the look Diane looking for. So let's go to next Popsicle, which is the mango in a strawberry. And I will do the lines again using my darker color, in this case, that red one diluted a little bit with water. And then using here the other brush. Because I want them all to what more water in my brush. I will also combine this with the jello watercolor to get a more cohesive nas on the colors that I'm using. I changing my brush and proceed with my yellow color in the upper side of my popsicle. As you can see. This is another beautiful and delicious popsicles flavor. And I am really loving how they are looking. Again, I can't wait to see what you create and how you play with the colors and what kind of flavors do like when you upload your class project in this section. For the class project for this class. Let me know which one is your favorite flavor for popsicles. Okay, Let's do the same with our blueberry ice cream. In just mixing a little bit the colors to get a purple j. So I can paint my lines and create the popsicle appearance. As easy as you see. This is. And then add some touches of the color that we use to make it more dark kid. Just go with the flow and try to keep as your work cohesive and beautiful. No need to rush again. Now, let's do the same with our kiwi popsicle. Notice that the young here using a darker shade of green. So it's the same game. So diluted by the popsicle itself. Because I want these lines to pop. Moving the color and creating the lines. For these popsicle, we are going to be creating the effect of the seeds from the kiwi in just a moment. When I finish it the center lines, then we will proceed to create it, the seeds. And this is how we are going to be doing. I will cover my other popsicles with some scrap paper that I have, just white paper that I have here, my desk. So they don't get a n. I will just pick it up with my flat brush in a bamboo stick. Their green color, not so dilute it. And then I would make our little trip and then go around my popsicle, the kiwi popsicle, creating the little seeds. How can you do this? 7. Popsicles Last Details: Okay, let's add the last details on everyone of my popsicles and then see how my composition here with this popsicle pattern is looking like. And then I just add more details around this beautiful painting. I then using my brush to make shadows on the lines inside the popsicle. So they pop up. And I have another idea for this beautiful popsicle, raspberry popsicle. We're going to get that idea further. In the class. We'll see how it will be software. Now I am just adding x1 though, chest with color on the edges to make a little bit of shadow on my popsicle. Now, we're going to finish it, the sticks from the popsicles, bringing it to a more realistic look and making them china. As they dodge. The popsicle itself. Just adding another layer with a brown to make the contrast in the shadows on the sticks from my popsicles. So now I will show you the idea that I have for this dress, a berry, PepsiCo. And you will love it. We are going to be adding some effects for these Popsicle because they will make it this particle a look so refreshing that it will always inviting to look into it. Maybe this is how we are going to be doing. I will add the sun that drops, the drops of color with my wet brush. And then we are going to be blowing n with a stroke. I teach this technique or my class for watercolor texture. You can go to that glass and see more in detail how this works. But for now, I will just blow up on this right side from my popsicle. And adjusting the colors. Here, I just turn over the page so I can blow up on the near this. How cool is that? Now I would be finished. These other popsicle add in a little bit more of color sides so it looks more natural like a real positive popsicle. And then with my button, my brush, I will just move the color around, creating a little bit of shade. On this popsicle. Use water if you need it. And do more for the color. This is the muscle my painting with watercolors, you can move the color, whatever you want, even if they are dry, to just wet your brush and move those colors around. What we're doing here is adding more pigment, like a second layer on this popsicle to make them a little bit more colorful. My paper is wet because I was going through with my brush with water. So this, this drops here and adding, reacting to that water on the paper. And creating here a little bit of shadows. The lines on the center line of my PepsiCo. Now with my wet brush, I would move the color a little bit more. So the color mix on the paper. Now I'm just adjusting my pattern. I will add some little more tortuous a half SDK, and then a half of a popsicle on the left side. Now I will add a half popsicle. On this side. This will be a pineapple popsicle on the inside. And then I will add another a little bit of orange flavor or color to make this blend together. Yes, I didn't just shaping my popsicle here with my brush in water and a little bit of watercolor. Now I will be using this cabinet, jello, that can be atheists. And then I will add the orange to make it more vibrant and for them to mix together. My painting is still wet. So the color will run M mix with the color that I already have on my paper, which is Jell-O. Made the colored dance together may become one. Add more water if you need it. And try to leave some jello spaces on your painting. Now I will need to let this new popsicle dry before I add the center lines. Because if I add it now, we will be unable to see them. So now my my new popsicle is dry. I will add the center lines with the orange color. Here in the center, I'm painting the center lines with a orange chain. So they make the contrast with the popsicle. At first, you don't need to make it so that you can start with a lighter shade and then add more pigment if you need it. They are looking so delicious and pretty and colorful. I now want to eat a popsicle. How about you? It is tempting. Finishing the last touches on this popsicle. And we are going to vary with our painting. I can't wait to see what you create freely. Upload your work. The class project Accenture for this class. And look at this. This is our final painting or popsicles pattern that you can use as a card, invitation cards, greeting scar, happy birthday card for the summer kids. And they will bring a smile to the phase of the people that are receiving this. Now, I will see you in the next video. 8. Class Project: Now we have come to the fun part of the class, creating your class project. And for that, it is very easy. Just share with us in the class project section for this class.
