1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need for This Project: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project that I designed, especially for kids. You do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all. To be successful with this project. I will take you step-by-step through all the steps that you need to take. So you will feel comfortable at all times. Today we are going to be creating a project that features to bears. We have a parent bear and a child bear. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will need a bowl or a cup with clean water. You will also need a black oil pastel or a black crayon and a paper towel. Go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. 2. Step 1: Draw Two Cute Bears: In this step we are going to draw our design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is find the middle of our piece of paper. The middle of my piece of paper is right here. What I'm going to do first is I'm going to make a line. It's going to be aligned, coming up, going over, and then coming down. Let me show you what I mean. I started in the middle of my piece of paper. I go up, I come over, and then I come down. This is going to be the head for my parents bear. Now I am going to create a slanted line. And a slanted line. Then a curved line, curved line. Then I'm going to come in with another slanted line and another slanted line. These are going to be the arms of my parent there. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to make a straight line coming down and another straight line coming down. Down here, we're going to have some legs and feet for our parent bear. Here's the bottom of the feet. Then I'm going to come up. I made a curved line to close up the parent bear's body. Here we have the outline of our bear. What we're going to do is we are going to create a small bear on top of the head of our larger parent. There are going to put the details of the parent bear's face and body inside in just a moment. All right, so let's move to the top of our piece of paper now. And our child bear is going to be sitting on the top of the parent Bears head. All right. Let's make a curved line a little bit smaller. Then what we're going to do is we're going to make some little ears. Then we're going to make some small curved lines coming down. Now we're going to make some slanted lines coming up on each side. These are going to be the arms of our child bear. And then some curved lines at the end of that line. Then we're going to come back in with another slanted line. There we go. Now we're going to stop there with our child bear, and we're going to move back to our parent bear and we're going to make some ears. Here's her small on Bears. Let's make some detail inside those years. Alright, now let's go back up to our child bear and make some lines and they might touch the ears or they might touch the top of the head. Now we have our child bear and our parents bear. Now we can add some details. Let's start with the parent there. Let's make a shape inside of the head that looks like this. Then we're going to make at the top of that an upside down triangle. And we're going to color that in with our crayon or oil pastel. Then we're going to make some Js of forward J in a backwards J. The little smile. Then we're going to make some curved lines for the eyes and they almost look like they're shot in smiling, right? All right. Then let's move down to the body. And let's put a shape down here. This will just give a little bit more detail to the beer's tummy. Then if you'd like to put some lines for the pause, some small lines for the toes, the feet on the bear. Cute bear. All right, let's move up to the child bear. Let's do the same thing. Let's put a little bit of detail in the ears. Just some circles. Then we're going to create some eyes and a nose and a mouth. The same shape as this. It's going to be smaller though because this is a child bear. So we have that. It's like a rectangle shape with a triangle on the inside color that in. And then you can make a little tiny mouth. And then any type of eyes that you'd like, I'm going to make the eyes on my child bear open. But some people might want to make the eyelashes or even this type of eye right here. Now you can make some detail on the pause. There we go. And then maybe some detail on the tummy. Alright, now that we have our parent bear and our child bear, we're going to make something that our parent bear is going to be standing on some sort of a ground. It can be a floor or some grass. If you want to create a different type of a background, you can do that as well. Or you can just make some hearts, which I think that I am going to do. You don't have to make hearts. You can make circles, you can make stars in any type of a pattern. Can even make clouds if you'd like. It's completely up to you. This is your artwork. You get to do what you want. I'm just going to make hearts because I feel like this particular artwork would look great with hearts. I think I'm going to put some designs down in the bottom area here. This is going to be like grass. Having done a look cute. Maybe I'll add one more small heart up here. I'm not sure if you can see that. Maybe even more and more here. Sometimes when I'm looking at my artwork, I decide that I want to add something. I don't think about it too much or just add it. Because I feel like that's what art is about. It's about experimenting and just trying new things and just going with your heart. Go ahead and add anything that you'd like to the background. And when we come back, we will start adding some watercolor. I'll see you back here in the next video. 3. Step 2: Paint the Bear Design: In this step, we are going to add some watercolor paints to our design. Let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to add a drop or two of water to our paint. Each pan of paint will get one or two drops of water. What this will do is it will soften up the pain a little bit and that will make it easier for you to use. Now that our paints are softening up and dissolving a little bit, Let's turn our attention to our design. I am going to paint my bears brown, different shades of brown, light brown, and dark brown. And I'm going to remember that if I add more water than paint, then my brown will be lighter. If I add more paint than water, then my brown will be darker. So I'm going to use a combination of light and dark brown. What I'm going to do is I'm going to use my palette over here to create some different shades of brown. Some of my brown will be really light, and some of my brown will be darker. Let me show you what I mean. This is my lighter brown. And if I start painting here, the parent fairs, Tommy, on this little bears, Tommy, it's pretty light, isn't it? Then if I move to this brown, which I added more paint than water, it's going to be a little bit darker. I'm not sure if you can see that on the video. But trust me, it is a little bit darker. Alright, so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to take a few minutes to paint my bears. I'm going to speed up this video. Then. When I'm finished, I'll come back and I will talk to you about what the next step is. So I'll be back here in just a minute. Already friends, I'm finished painting the bears, including a little bit of pink inside the ears. When we come back, we will be painting the background. 4. Step 3: Paint the Background: In this step we are going to paint the background. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is think about the colors that we'd like to use. I know for sure that I'd like my heart's to be pink. And I think I'd like my background to me, maybe green, like a light green. And then I'm not sure on the bottom part, I maybe use we'll use blue or yellow or orange. I'm not quite sure yet. I'm going to start with the hearts. Then I'll move to the background. And then I will end up with the ground that the bears are standing on. Remember this is not realistic, so you can choose the colors that you would like. Let me get started. And I am going to try to stay inside the lines. But as I said before, if I get a little bit outside the lines, That's okay. No problem. I'm just going to do the best that I can. What I'll do is I will speed up this video. You can watch me and then I'll just take about a minute. And then you can get started on your own painting. I'll see you back here in just a minute. Already friends, I finished Katie and I. I did run out of migraine that I was using, so I just switched to a different green. It's no problem at all. So if that ever happens to you and you run out of a color and you want to switch, just go ahead and switch. I decided to make the ground blue because I thought that that would look great and I'm really happy that I used that color. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time.
