1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Hi, friends. How are you? I hope you're having a really great day today. I'd like to introduce this project to you. This is a cloud and a rainbow project that I'm really excited about sharing with you. So, let's get started. You're probably wondering what supplies and materials that you will need for this project. So let's go over that. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need some watercolor paints. You will need some clean water and a paintbrush. I like to use a paint brush this size, but if you don't have that available, just use what you have. You will also need a black crayon or a black oil pastel. For this project, I'm using black oil pastel, and you will need a paper towel for quick cleanups. So go ahead and gather those supplies and materials, and I'll see you back here in just a minute. 2. Step 1: Draw a Rainbow & Clouds: In this step, we are going to draw our clouds and our rainbow. So let's get started. Start by picking up either your black crayon or your black oil pastel. I'm going to use my black oil pastel because I like the nice thick line. Alright, so we are going to make a cloud here over on this side, over on the left side, and a cloud here on the right side. And then we are going to make a rainbow in between the two clouds. Alright? So let's get started. We're going to want to make our clouds pretty big on our piece of paper. So not giants, so they're taking up the whole space, but I would say about this big. So let me show you what I mean. So we're going to make a nice, big, fluffy cloud. And I'm going slowly and carefully so I can do my best work. So I'm just hooking these curved lines together until I get a nice big fluffy cloud. Now that I have the cloud on my left hand side of my piece of paper, I'm going to move to the right hand side, and I'm going to make another big fluffy cloud. So I'll start here. And I'm going slowly and carefully, so I do my best work all the way around. Those curved lines that are hooked together. There we go. Now, I want to remind you with oil pastel. It's really, really easy to smear if you're using the oil pastel. So make sure you don't wipe your paper or rest your hand on your piece of paper where your oil pastel is because it could smear. Alright. Now that we have our clouds, we're going to start making our rainbow. And we want our rainbow to hit almost at the very top of our piece of paper because we want to have enough space to hold all of our colors. If in the end, you don't have enough space, that's okay. We will make doom. So let me show you what I'm going to do. I'm going to start here on this cloud on the left, and then I'm going to end about right here on this cloud on the right, and I'm just going to make a very large arch I'm going to almost touch the top of my paper, but not quite. Let me show you what I mean. I'm going to start with my arch right here, go almost to the top of my piece of paper, and then come back down. I started about at the middle of this cloud and I ended about the middle that cloud. And if you don't have this looking exactly like mine, that's okay. Just we want yours to look just like yours. Now I'm making another arch, another curve line. And then I'm going to go ahead and make more and more curve lines until I make enough for six colors. All right. So we have one, two, and then we have three lines. We have two spaces and three lines. So I'm just going to keep going slowly and carefully. Okay. Another arch. My arches are getting smaller, aren't they? So let me stop there and let me count. So red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. Or purple. Okay. Last one right here. There we go. So red, orange, yellow, green, blue violet. All right. Now what we're going to do is we are going to put some faces on the inside of your clouds. If you want to, you don't have to do this part if you don't want to. If you just want your clouds to have no face on the inside, you can go ahead and do that, but I'm going to put a face on this one and on this one. So I'm just going to make some round eyes for this little guy. I want to make sure that my eyes are about the same size. There we go. And then maybe a little smile. Now, remember, we're not going to wipe our oil pastel because it could smear very easily. Now, for this one, I think I'm going to make him sleeping. So a curve line, curve line, little tiny eyelashes. And then a little tiny circle because he's snoring. Okay. So now I have my design. In the next step, what we're going to do is we're going to come back and we're going to apply some watercolor paints. I'll see you back here in just a minute. 3. Step 2: Paint the Design: In this step, we are going to apply some watercolor paints to our drawing to give it some more color. So before we do that, we are going to add some water to each of our pans of paint. And what that will do is it will soften up the paints for us to use. It will dissolve the paints just a little bit. Just makes the paints much, much easier to use. So I would suggest taking a minute to do that. Alright, now that I have my drop of water in each pan of paint, we're gonna let that sit for just a minute and talk about what we're going to do on our artwork. So I'm going to leave my clouds white. If you want to color your clouds a different color, that's up to you. This is your artwork, and you should do what you want to do. So I'm going to leave those white. I think I'm going to just make a blue sky, and then I'm going to use the colors of the rainbow. So that would be red, orange yellow, green, blue, and violet, purple. Now that I know what I'm going to do in my mind, I'm just going to start painting. I'm going to start with this painting in the sky. So I'm going to start painting, and if I feel like my color is a little bit dark, then I will add a little bit more water. If I feel like my color is a little bit too light, then I will add a little bit more paint. What I'm going to do now is I'm going to speed up the video. You can watch me. It'll only take about half a minute or so because I'm going to speed it up. And then you can get started on your own painting. I'll see you back here in just a minute. A Alrighty friends, I'm finished. I had a lot of fun with this project. I hope that you enjoy it as well. I will see you next time.
