1. Welcome to this Class: hi there, and welcome to this premiere rush class. So this classes for any Premier Rush users who want to learn how to quickly edit their videos on their phone. So in this class, you're going to learn the tools and techniques you can quickly edit videos. This class is just over 30 minutes long. On in this class. I'm going to teach you all about clip editing on arranging clips in Premier Rush. Well, then look at adding audio effects, color correction and then adding titles on. Then finally, I'll teach you how to export your video. So by the end of this class, you'll be a lot more confident editing videos on your phone with Premier Rush. 2. Clip Arranging and Editing: hi there. And welcome to this video where we're going to be looking at Premier Rush. So this is an application you can use for Android iPhone. You can also use this on the Tablet or Windows and Mac, and it's really easy to use application. Premiere Pro is a lot more powerful. However, If you want to edit videos on the go, this could be really useful. This is a paid up, but there is included with the Adobe Creative Cloud, all applications. It's also included with Premiere Pro. If you do want to get this by itself, though, it does cost around about $10 a month. But like I said, if you do have Premiere Pro or the Adobe Creative Cloud is included with these, of course the affray ups available, such as I movie. But Dobie Rush is just so much more powerful, and it does allow you to edit your projects across different devices. So if you sink your projects with the creative cloud, you could, for example, when you're out, edit your video on your phone, and then when you get home, you can continue this edit on your computer. So let's now open up the premier rush up. And from here, let's press the small plus button to create a new project. And here we can add media, or we can take video or photo. So, for example, if I press take video or photo, you can see this is me. Now I'm going to hit the small expert in the top left on Add some media falls. These are clips that I filmed on my phone with the moment pro app. So I'm going to go on to camera all on here. I'm going to select his five clips. Also attached as a resource is the different video clips that used in this class, So please feel free to download these clips. If you like to follow along with me in these lessons, so it's access this download. Just click onto Project on Resources underneath, of course, player on Then, from here, you can download the ZIP file under resources, or you can use your own videos and use the techniques I show you and apply them to your own video clips. I'm also going to make sure sync with Sisi is selected, so this will sink with Creative cloud, which means I can continue this editing on another device also going to name this project. Let's just call this example and then hit, return and then hit, create, And it may take a moment or two to prepare the media. By the way, this first clip here was actually filmed upside down, used mono pod and had camera upside down. Then we followed me walking. Are we consuming by pressing two fingers or thumbs, then dragging side to side weaken scroll to the right by clicking and dragging to the right scroll to the left by clicking and dragging into the left. And then, of course, we compress play by hitting the play button up here many years prior to making any videos on YouTube. So this clip here is the main flip and actually recorded order at the same time. I was using the roads Smart Laugh Plus, which recorded the audio into the phone at the same time a filming. However, I always like to start my videos off with a clap, just in case the audio is out of sync with the video allows me to easily sink this later on . So for this video, I want to hear this audio on that certain points, I will show some of this B roll. So I have the audio playing here and then shows some of these different clips while she can still hear the audio. So to do this, we need to press on the eclipse, the B roll clips and then drag these up to another channel. That's just zoom out. Two thumbs, the next one next one on the last one. Okay, you can see it's automatically snapped to the start. And also I like to have the more advanced view on, and we can enable this advance view by this button down here. Now you can see other things on from here. We can lock the track with the padlock, which won't let you make any edits or changes when the padlock is enabled. We can also mute the audio off the track with this mute button. So for this we don't actually want to hear. And if the audio from the B roll would just want to see it. So I'm going to make sure the audio from the B roll is muted and we can also enable or disable the video for that track with the eyeball. Okay, so now let's actually trim the tracks. So, like I said at the start, I have a clap and I'm going to a trim out that clap. So it's just me talking at the start of this video. So let's do this with two funds and dragging. To do this, we need to find the part where we want the video to stop. So the first few video round about here. Okay, so let's go over to the edge of the clip, hold down on scroll this over to about where we wanted to start, and it will snap back to zero. So the first few video which is around about there. Okay, now let's scroll over and trim the clip at the end, so it's same again. Just press your farm on the end of the clip on, hold it down and then dragged over. So if I scroll back, you can see here. There's a lot more interesting to watch, but there's a good place to end. I can zoom in and just hold it down just to find the exact place I want to stop, but it's a great one of the thing to mention is actually filmed this in one take. However, if you do make mistakes or you want to make your video a bit more fast pace, you can always add jump cuts. So if I scroll over, let's just say I want to cut this part out here. We can scroll over and I'm going to cut on the play head. So this bottom bar here that scroll over on hit the says I come then scroll over again on Hit. This is icon on this part here. I can select this and I can delete this. And now if you play it back up that passion and that making videos there's a jump up. But for this I did it in one take. So I'm going to do this by hitting the undo button at the top a few times. Okay, great. Now let's edit and trim the B roll. So this main video here I filmed at 24 frames per second, and it has a very natural motion blur. However, I film the B roll at different frames per second. The reason I did this so I could slow down some of the B roll and have some great slow motion, which still looks natural. Most of the B roll I filmed at 60 frames per second, which means I could slow it down about 50% and it's still look natural. This even the beer Oh, me jumping in the air, which I filmed up 240 frames per second. Some of this I could slow it right down on that still look natural. So if you do want to film some slow motion, I do recommend selecting a higher frames per second and then in Premier Rush. You can always slow it down here. But festival. Let's trim some of this B roll, so I'm just going to zoom out, too. Funds on drug outwards on Let's enable the b roll again by hitting this button So we have this clip here off the light just right at the end. Just when this bit of light here moves back, I'm gonna trim out so same again soon. Then it's like the clip hover over the edge on just trim it back. But that great this one's a bit more complex to trim. Firstly is upside down. So before I trim, I'm going to transform this of flip it 180 degrees so you can see down here there's a transform button. I'm going to press this and then we have rotation. So let's changes to 180 or drag it all the way to the right and this will change the clip to 180 degrees. So to get this effect I filmed upside down. So let's find the section I want to trip. So it's about here. I'm going to have the play head around back here. Let's go back from transformed by hitting the back button here, then go over to this is Icon. I'm just a few seconds of this, but here hover over to the trim, iconic em and then either side of the clip I want I'm going to delete. So so let this slip hit. Delete on of a clip Here. Hit Delete Naffa, Zoom out. You can see we need to rearrange these clips again. Some going toe. Press this on. Move over. Okay, let's move these over clips over as well. So just press on them on Dr From over. Assume in two fingers again slide over And now let's trim this punning shot here at the end . The camera goes back again. So I'm going to stop about, But they're over over again. Drag to the left clip here of me jumping Zoom in. So I just want to jump I don't really want me preparing for the drums so much or the end of the trump so you can hit the scissor icon here, press this section, then hit the trash can. Okay, I've trimmed this too much previously. So that's click and drag it back and how it starts around here. Greg and I, we just got the jump. Okay, so next what? I'm going to do a slow down some of these slips This jump here I filmed at much higher friends, but second, so I can afford to really slow this down. So make sure this clip is selected and go to speed, and then we're going to go to rain speed. And for this, I'm going to choose 25 so I'm going to click on where it says 100% then just type in 25 hit the tick icon. Now, if I play this back technical videos trying to have a bit of energy. Try and have a passion when you're teaching on that, making videos a lot more interesting to watch. Great. Concede a slow motion. Do you feel like it's a bit of a waste of space having me preparing for the trump, then waiting around at the end, So I'm probably gonna trim about here, so hover over that section. Hit the back arrow there, then scissor icon, press this section I don't want hit the trash cam and then same again. Scroll over. And when I land the jump here, uh, hit. This is Rikon and then delete the part Don't want. Okay, great. Now let's drive this part back. Now this panning view here film this at 60 frames per second. So I think it might look cool for this jogger in the corner. Can you see here to be running? Ah, half speed. So you can really tell what we've slowed it down to make it look a bit more creative and fun. So let's go over to speed, then go on to rain speed here on Let's drag this over 2 50 What? We can just type it in here Sometimes it's hard to get the exact number 50. And as I filmed this at 60 frames per second, I can slow it down half speed and it'll still have a natural amount off motion blur. Let's play this back now. And I think that comes across in my videos because, yeah, some of these technical videos that can be a little dry, a little boring. So I do recommend if you're going to make any technical videos trying to have a bit of energy, try and have a passion when you're teaching on not making videos. Okay, great. Looks nice. Then we have the walking here in the trim this down of it. Then I'm actually gonna put this at 50% because this walking clip I filmed at 60 frames per second as well. So in the rain speed here, click on this and select 50. Now when we play this back, a few videos online on kind of help. A few people are about logic, pro 10. It can be quite difficult to use on great looks, a lot more artistic and a lot more interesting. Let's drag this over then. We have this, like clip here gonna leave that as it is. Okay, great. Now we've arranged a clips. It's starting to look more like something I would use. So there's just one more thing I want to add that is a fade to black transition. So if we select the main clip here and then go on to transitions here, we have a few different transitions. We have a few basic ones. Cross dissolve, dip to black on dipped white. You can also choose a duration for each one of thes. There are only a few transitions, but to be honest, 99% of the time, I will be using cross dissolve, dip to black or dipped a white. So that's fine. So let's choose dip to black. And now we can click on duration. You can choose the duration off the dip to black. Let's like on the duration, we're going to choose 0.5 seconds and then play it back. It should fade to black, making videos a lot more interesting to watch. Great. Okay, so that's the basics of clip arrangement in Premier Rush. The next video, we're going to be looking at Audio Edison. Thanks for watching on. I'll see you in the next one 3. Audio Effects and Editing: Okay, let's now have a look at audio, I think in Premier Rush. So to be honest, audio editing is pretty basic, but there are a few useful features that you might want to use. Firstly, the audio are recorded sounded pretty good to start with, so I recommend recording the highest quality audio source you can. And don't just rely on post production techniques to try and save your audio. I also recorded this audio outside so you might hear some bird sounds. But to be honest, I quite like that. I also the audio doesn't clip or distort, so that's all good. So in the bottom bar here, if we scroll over, you can go to where it says audio. And here we have a few different settings that would conduce to help improve the quality off our audio. Firstly, we have a clip volume for this. I believe it was recorded at a good level, so I'm going to leave her on 50. Next to this, we can mute the clip or a mute the clip and then we have type on with this is Detective that its voice. But if you do you want to try and edit the audio from a music track or something else. You can select music or over here, but for this I'm going to leave it on voice and then going across. We have altered volume, so this will automatically adjust the volume levels off your project so it's more consistent. So, for example, in some parts of your project, if it's really quiet, it will turn them up on. If some parts are really loud, it will turn them down. Two level is generally more consistent thing going across. We have balanced sound, and this will just add a bit off compression. So it's going to make the quieter parts a bit louder and the louder parts a bit quieter. Some going Teoh, leave this on as well. During across. We have reduced noise, so this is noise reduction. On with this, I'm only going to add a small amount because if you add too much noise reduction, it could make your audio sound kind of muffled or underwater, but will still add a small amount. So let's just enable this on for noise reduction. We're going to have it on 10 and then we can also reduce the echo. So if you recorded in a very reverberated room, you can reduce some of the echo here. However, I'm not going to add this effect here. Then going across. We have had speech, and here we have none female or male, and this will basically just add a bit of u Q. So Rush will just just some of the frequencies off your voice. So I'm going to select male for this, and that should hopefully make the audio sound a bit nicer. You can also reset the audio here as well. Next to this, we have a toggle switch, and this allows us to toggle the effects on enough. So with this, you can quickly here the audio with the effects on here, the audio without the effects. So that's just play this clip back here, and I'm going to toggle between the audio effects on enough without making videos a lot more interesting to watch any technical videos, trying to have a bit of energy, try and have a passion in teaching without making videos a lot more interesting to watch. Okay, great. I think it sounds a bit better with these effects, but like I said, If you are using noise reduction or echo reduction, just use them subtly, or it can ruin the quality off your audio. One more thing to mention is we can add a transition for the audio so we can add fade in or fade out for the audio, which could be nice to get rid of any breath sounds. Start of your audio, and it could also be nice to fade out the audio at the end of the video. Let's just hit the back button on this tour bar. I'm going to scroll across to this button here, which will display the audio and video separately. So by default is actually added the transition here because previously I did add a dip to black, so that adds a transition for the audio. But for example, at the start here, I don't want to have dip to black, but I do want to have a transition before the audio. So let's select the transition that starts and then hit the trash cam. Then I'm actually going to select the transition for the audio on Just drag this back so it gets rid of the breath sound of the start. So the first few videos I put online all about a piece of software called We could always Make this a bit longer at the start. So this trim this back. So with this view, we can independently trim the audio or the video. I'm going to drive the video back than have confirmed the transition and drag it back. So when we listen now, we don't hear that breath sound. So the first few videos I put online all about a piece of software called Okay, great. One more thing to mention is you can actually record a voiceover directly into this app. So generally, if you're going to be doing this, I recommend using an external mike such as a road smart Laugh plus, which plugs into your phone rather than using the mic on your phone. However, you can just use the mic on your phone as well, but it might not sound is good, so I'm just going to scroll over to the end of this project. Then, from here, I'm going to hit the plus button in the bottom left and then select voiceover, and when they hit this small red button, it will give me account in and then I can record the voice over. Okay, this is an example off the voiceover, if I see might Now you can see here it's recorded the voice over if I play this back, OK, this is an example off the voiceover. So the first And when we get to the end and we had play, it's going to go to the beginning again. So for this, I'm not going to use this voice over at the end. So let's scroll over. It's like the voiceover clip and scroll over and hit the trash can and that will delete this. Okay, so that is the audio features in this app. Next video, we're going to be looking at color correction. 4. Color Correction: Okay, so now let's have a look at color correction. So, first of all, I film these clips on the same iPhone camera. We have similar settings at the same time of the day. I also use an nd filter for the phone camera, which is kind of like sunglasses for your camera, which recommends using If you're going to be shooting in daylight like this, however, these shots are in different locations on sometimes I'm in direct sunlight, and other times I'm in the shade so the clips don't look exactly the same, and it will need to use some color correction. So these clips have a similar color balance. So what I'm going to do is actually balance the clip of me talking and then try and match the B roll clips to this. To be on this, it looks pretty good to start with. I made sure I properly exposed the image before I filmed or your says, set the white balance and use an ND filter. So these are really things you can do to trying the best possible image so you don't have to rely heavily on color correction. However, we're still going to add a few different things. So at the bottom toolbar, we can see it sets color. It was to let this you noticed there a few different presets we can't select. These are a little extreme, however, we can dial the settings back and just use this as a guide for this, though, I'm going to go on none on them going to change the settings without a preset. So let's go through some of these settings on the bottom. We have built in presets on your presets. So once we've adjusted the color here, I'm actually going to say this as my own preset on next this we have intensity. You'll notice it's not actually doing anything. But if we go back and select, for example, this cinematic preset intensity will change the intensity off this preset. Let's go back and slack, none so intensity when you have none selected won't actually do anything going across. We have exposure. To be honest, I properly exposed this image before, but we can adjust exposure here if we wish, but I like it as it waas some going toe double tap to reset and going across. We have contrast, and I think a bit of contrast here might be nice. So let's just increase the contrast to around about here. Which is that 29 then going across. We have highlights. Let's increase this and you can see here the lighter parts of the image just pop a bit more when we increase the highlights, I'm going to leave it here around about 19. Next, two shadows on Let's decrease this. So when we decrease this, you can see the shadow stand out a bit more, which I think makes the image look of it slicker going across. We have temperature. I actually want this image to look a bit colder, so I'm going to decrease the temperature increase. This will look hotter if we decrease this a lot colder. I think around about there is good minus 25 then going across. We have tint. I'm going to decrease this slightly, so that image looks a bit less red about here, minus four, then going across. We have vibrance. Let's increase this, and this just makes the colors pop a bit more. Then we have saturation. I think the saturation was good to begin with, so I'm going to double tap to reset. Okay, Going across. We have faded film. I personally don't want this effect for this. However, it might be cool. FL is making a more artistic video, but for this video, I want it a bit more natural. So I'm going to double tap to reset. Then we have sharpening on. If you move this to the left, it will blur the image and move it to the right. It will sharpen the image. Just going to sharpen this slightly. Let's have this on five. Okay, then going across we have been yet. And if you move it to the right, it will add white vignette on. If you move it to left, it will add a black vignette As I'm in the center, I want the audience to pay attention to me. So I think a bit vignette could be cool. Some going to drive this all the way to the left. And I like this effect here. We also have the feather for the vignettes, But to be honest, I like to as it is, so I'm going to double tap to reset. Okay? Going across weekend recently settings on. We control them on the roof you can tell that when a tablet on enough, I think it just pops a bit more with the color correction much. You're going to go back to the tent and just change the setting slightly around about here , so it looks a bit more natural. Okay, I'm happy of that. And if we go over two options, the three dots in the bottom right, you can create a new preset, and I'm going to call this example what and then hit safe. Now let's scroll over to the B roll events like this, then under color. I'm going to scroll over on Select your preset from here. I'm going to choose example one, and it's just copied over the exact settings I just made. Of course, we need to tweak these settings. We can't just leave them exactly the same because I did film in different locations. However, it's a good starting point because I use the same camera with similar settings on the same day. So with this light shot here just going to decrease the highlights slightly so the sun in the shot isn't to empowering, and I'm also going to increase the temperature slightly, so it's a bit warmer by there. Okay, let's go over to the next shot. This one here, me walking, some of this I'm going to add the preset again. So let's go over to color and then scroll over toe wet, says your presets and choose example one. I like this vendetta effect. I think this looks cool. So I'm going to leave this. But I want to lower the highlights. So I'm going to select highlights and just drop this slightly. Okay, Great. I'm also going to increase the saturation. So let's go over to saturation and increased this. So it pops a bit more on one more thing. Let's just make the temperature a bit Warner about there. That's great. That's compared to the footage before. Yeah, I think that's good. Maybe drop the saturation. Slightly roundabout there. Good. Okay, let's go over to the next shot. Here. This punning shop on same again. It's going color and scroll over to your presets. Choose this one here. Example One. So if we actually a B this you can see in the top, right? Unfortunately, there is a black mark from the nd filter. A dim position. This quite right, However, with the Veneta effect, it covers this up. I'm also going to make the temperature a little colder. So let's scroll over to temperature and just make this a bit cooler on this one. I'm going to adjust that tin slightly. That would go about that. They're also going to drop the highlights slightly. Okay, let's compare this to the main shot. Yeah, I think that's pretty good. The vendetta effect might be a bit too extreme, so that's just increase this slightly, but just enough So it covers up the black mark in the top, right, but not too extreme. Okay, let's scroll over and adjust some of the color settings for this jumping clip. Let's go to color again, scroll over and choose my preset. I think this vignette effect is a bit too extreme, so let's go over to the net amount. Just increase the slightly to about There became also going to increase the saturation slightly, so the image pops a bit more and let's compare this to the main footage. Great, that's good. You can see there quickly corrected. The colors and everything matches the main clip a bit more so in the next lecture, we're going to look at adding titles on exporting 5. Adding Titles and Exporting: Okay, so now let's have a look at adding titles on exporting. So for this video, I'm just going to have a small title in the corner of the screen at the beginning off the video, and I'm also going to have a subscribe animation to at the end of the video on Primary Rush has some called templates you can use for your titles. So let's go down here and press titles and you can see here we have a few different templates. The one I'm going to choose is called Blue Chrome Left. So let's like that. And if we scroll over, you can see here. There's some animation with this title as well, so let's actually click on the text here, and it can be quite difficult to actually click on this text. So just be aware of that. Going to change this to in my name. I'm just going to click on the subtitle and change the text here. Like I said, it can be quite difficult to select this text, then hit done. And now when I play this back, you'll see the text appear and then disappear. So the first few videos I put online all about a piece of software called Logic Pro 10 I've been using. Okay, great. So now let's click on titles. You'll see we have some information down here such as fun font style font size on some spacing options. I'm going to click on the layer here, and this allows me to change some of the colors. So I actually want to change this color here. So if I click on this, I can change the color fill. So let's select this again. And for this so much, you're going to choose Black and then hit. Done. Okay, so now at the end of this video, I want to have a subscribe button. So let's go back over to titles and here I'm going to go on to more titles. Then I'm going to use this subscribe button animation. I'm actually going to rename this slightly so it doesn't have the number of subscribers as This can always change. And then I'm going to hit, done. And when we play this animation back, it changes from subscribe to subscribe once the cursor clicks the button, which is pretty cool. So let's have a look. There's a lot more interesting to watch. Okay, Great. I'm actually going to resize this, but in the bottom, right of the screen. So it's not too big and annoying, but still catches the viewer's eye on them, going to change the length of it. So it's the lamb for the video, so let's go over to transform. I'm from here. We can change the size and the position off this animation, so let's go over to scale, wept and change this to 70. And then let's go over to hate position on Dr this over and then three position. Put this down in the bottom about here. Let's just move the slightly forward and then trim the end of this. Now the subscribe button will appear in the corner of the video on will disappear just before the end of the video. Okay, great. I'm happy with this video now, so let's go ahead on export it. So we need to hit their export button in the top right? And here we can choose our settings. We do have automatic settings. Click on this drop down arrow. Here, we can choose our different presets. Automatic does a good job, but if you want to choose on level size such a 7 20 we could select it here. I'm going to choose 10 18 much frame rates, which I believe is the same as the automatic setting. Okay, let's now hear exports, and after your videos being rendered, you can share it on social media. So this video may take a while to render. I am speeding up the process right now, and then I'm going to show you quickly what this video looks like once is being rendered. Okay, so now the video has been rendered on, have gone to the camera roll on my iPhone, and I'm going to play this final export back. So the first few videos I put online all about a piece of software called Logic Pro 10. I've been using this software many years prior to making any videos on YouTube, and I thought it might be interesting to put a few videos online on kind of help. A few people are about logic, pro 10. It can be quite difficult to use. Andi. I really enjoy making videos about logic. Protest have a lot of passion when I'm using the software. It's really fun to make music on there, and I think that comes across in my videos because, yeah, some of these technical videos that can be a little dry, a little boring. So I do recommend if you're going to make any technical videos trying to have a bit of energy, try and have a passion when you're teaching without making videos a lot more interesting to watch. Okay, so that's the end of this video. We have had a look. Add entitles on exporting. Thanks for watching. 6. Thanks and Bye + Class Project: Thank you so much for watching this class.
