All you need is a computer, an Internet connection, and access to a paid chat GPT account. By the end of this course, you'll have your own personalized AI assistant ready to you. So why take this course? In today's world, AI can give you a competitive edge. Whether it's automating tasks or creating personalized experiences for your clients, this skill will set you apart. Let's get started. 2. Class Project: Welcome to your class project. For this project, I'd like you to create your very own custom chat GPT tailored to your specific needs. Once you've done that, share the link to your Cat GPT in the project gallery so that everyone can see the unique ways that you're using it. Feel free to also give a brief description on how you plan to use your GPT. It's a great way to inspire each other. To help you along, I've created a short guide with step by step instructions, which you can find in the projects and resources section. Whether you're a beginner or just need a little extra help. This guide will walk you through the process. I can't wait to see what you create. So good Lu and have fun with it. 3. What is a Custom ChatGPT?: Welcome to your first lesson. Before we start creating your own custom GPT, let's quickly go over what a custom GPT is and why it's such a powerful tool. Custom GPT is essentially a version of C chat GPT, that you can personalize to meet your own specific needs. While the regular chat GPT provides general responses, a custom GPT allows you to fine tune its behavior, tone, and the kind of information it provides. This means that you can fine tune it to align with your brands voice, or to make repetitive tasks. Even serve as a virtual assistant that understands your specific goals. So what are the key benefits to creating a custom GPT? Firstly, it saves time. You can automate customer service responses, generate content, or even streamline project workflows, or with less manual efforts. Secondly, it improves consistency. By customizing the responses, you can ensure that your GPT communicates in a consistent tone, whether you're working with clients, customers, or even within your own team. Finally, it enhances personalization, whether you're running a business or working on personal projects. Custom GPT can deliver more relevant and tailored responses based on your preferences. In this course, you'll learn how to create a custom GPT that suits your unique needs. By the end, you'll have a powerful AI tool that works for you. So let's get started. 4. Creating Your Custom ChatGPT: Lesson, we'll walk through the step by step process of creating your own custom GPT. Where we begin, it's important to decide the specific purpose of your GPT. Ask yourself, what do you need help with right now? Do you need help with generating a social media content, strategizing for your business, or offering customer support? Having one clear purpose for your GPT will ensure that it's focused and effective. As an example, for this course, I'll be creating a custom GPT to assist me in my role as a Skillshare teacher. Let's get started. So first, you want to make sure that you're logged in to Chat GPT. Make sure you paid version, and then you want to head over to the Explore GPT section. And here, you'll find a range of GPTs created by others for different purposes. But to create your own, you want to click on the Create button, and this is where you'll set up your GPT. So in the Create section, you want to enter what you want your GPT to do. So for example, because I want help with my skill share courses, then I can write something like make me a marketing specialist to help generate new course ideas and help with planning classes for Skillshare. And this will guide the GPT on its core function. And then what it will do is generate a name automatically for your GPT. But you can change if you like. For the purposes of time, I will keep the one that it's come up with Skillshare course specialist. And then next, it will generate a profile picture, which again, you can keep or update or change. And then here is where you can refine it a bit. Further. I could tell it to only focus on specific topics, like in my case, marketing strategy and avoid areas that may be restricted on skill share or areas of courses that I've already done, or I could ask it to prioritize popular or trending topics. So I will say, please focus on marketing strategy and trending topics in marketing. Such as I. And then it will update, it's asking me about tone, so I will say casual. You can always go back and change this later. And that's pretty much it. So we'll look at the Configure tab in the next lesson. To make sure that it's all saved, click Create, and then you can choose to have it private to you, share it with somebody else, or add it to the store. But for now, I'll just click only M. And there you have it. That's it. You've just created your own custom chat GPT. So what we'll do in the next lesson is go through some of the more advanced settings in the Configure tab. I will see you in the next lesson. 5. Customising Your Custom GPT: Welcome to lesson three. So now that you've created your custom GPT, let's talk about how to customize it further to make it truly effective. The key to getting the most out of your GPT is feeding it relevant data. The more specific information you provide, the better it will understand your needs and deliver personalized responses. So start customizing this, you would click on the name of your GPT, and then click Edit. PT. So here you can update or refine its capabilities in two key areas, the Create tab, which is the tab we were on in the previous lesson and the configure tab. Under the Create tab, you can continue adding more detailed prompts, which will help to fine tune how your GPT behaves. And under the configure tab, you can change things like the name, the description of your GPT, the instructions, and even the conversation starters. Then you've got the knowledge section, and here you have the option to upload up to 20 files, and this will help your GPT provide better context and more informed responses. This feature is particularly powerful. So, for example, I could upload here a list of my skill share classes that I've already created, and I could instruct the GPT not to suggest these again. Or I might upload my marketing strategy and business goals. So that the GPT understands what I'm aiming for when suggesting course or promotion ideas. When uploading files here, simple text documents work best. Make sure that the documents are cleanly formatted and use information that doesn't change too frequently, so your GPT remains accurate over time. Let's walk through an example. I will upload my current skill share class list and ask my GPT not to suggest these courses again. Can also tick this box here. If you want your GPT to analyze any data or work with the files that you've uploaded. You can see it's automatically updated here. It's important to tell your GPT specifically to use the knowledge files. So when you're prompting or in here, I can specify that the GPT should reference the uploaded class list before generating new ideas, as well as you can also tell it to rely on the knowledge that you've uploaded here before it searches the web. So it's updated that. I'd always click date to make sure that it's saved. So now let's test it out. So I'll ask my GPT for my next course idea. You can see here in its suggestion, it says, considering the current landscape and what you're already offering. Here are a few ideas that could attract attention. It is referencing the file that I've uploaded. Sure it doesn't suggest duplicates, but it's also building on the courses that I've already done. So in this way, you can see that the response is much more tailored to my needs, and you can obviously keep adding files and keep adding more information, and it will make it more tailored to you and save you a lot of time because you don't have to keep repeating yourself when prompting. So the takeaway here is the more data and specific instructions you provide, the smarter and more helpful your GPT will become. 6. Final Thoughts: Congratulations on completing the class. We've now learned how to create and customize your very own GPT. We covered key steps like defining a clear purpose, uploading valuable knowledge files, and giving your GPT explicit instructions to make it as effective as possible.
