About This Class

Hello singers, in this video we will not talk about singing technique. We will touch something that is even more important! That is, accepting and loving the voice we were given and then practicing and creating singing art from this place. Being ok with our own voice is a very important part of good singing. When we like our voice, we train it with more love and awareness, our body gets more relaxed, singing becomes easier and our expression becomes more authentic.

In this video I am sharing with you 7 facts about voice that can inspire you and help you to start to love and accept your voice even more:

  1. Nobody has the same instrument as you have.

  2. Singing is art and you are an artist.

  3. Your vocal advantages are your biggest value.

  4. To touch the audience you don’t need to sing high and loud.

  5. The right song key for your voice is like the right size of clothes for your body.

  6. Some people will never like your voice and that is ok.

  7. The intention behind singing has a big impact on people.

Have a great holiday time. I really wish you all the best. Enjoy life, enjoy your body, enjoy your voice & enjoy singing & lots of love <3  Natasa

1. Time to spread love to our voice!: Hello singers. Since it's almost a holiday season when we spread love to people around us, I decided in this video, we will spread love to our own voice. In my teachings, I found out that most people are not fond of their voice. Most singers don't like to listen to themselves on the recordings. Some are ashamed of their voice. We are very afraid what other people will say about our voice. We have beliefs like my voices too loud, too airy, too nasal, ugly. Maybe as kids we were told that our voice is annoying. Or maybe they didn't accept us into the school choir, or they did, but they said to us that we should just open our mouth and not sing. All these events can give us subconscious doubts about our voice and big fear of expressing it. Being okay with your own voice is very important part of good singing. When you like your voice, you train it with more love and more awareness, and your body gets more relaxed. That's why your singing becomes easier and your vocal expression becomes more authentic. In this video, I would like to share with you seven facts about your voice that can inspire you and that can help you to start to love and accept your voice even more. 2. Singing is art & you are an artist: This video, I would like to share with you seven facts about your voice that can inspire you and that can help you to start to love and accept your voice even more. First, nobody on this planet has the same instrument as you. I often say to singers, look at yourself in the mirror and what you see is your instrument. Now, give this instrument a name. My instrument is Natasha instrument. Maybe your instrument is Jacob Instrument. Tina instrument. Stephen instrument. And nobody on this planet has the same instrument as you have. You are the only person that plays on it. You need to become your own teacher. It's way different from any other instruments. We can have a hundreds same pianos and guitars. Knowing that we have a completely unique singing instrument means that besides having vocal coaches that can help us to achieve some goals faster, we need to really become our own singing coach too. And we need to find courage to explore our voice, our unique voice, and write our own vocal story. Second, singing is art. And you are an artist, singing technique can help us to sing in a more healthy way. Extend our range, relax unnecessary muscle attention. But it does not give us creativity when we are too much in analyzing our voice and technique, we are strengthening our left brain hemisphere. That's good, but we shouldn't forget to also strengthen our right brain hemisphere where creativity and authenticity comes from. Singing at the end of the day is art. When you train singing, have this in mind. You need to find courage to draw your own vocal picture. Imagine song is a picture and you are a painter who's drawing it. What kind of vocal colors will you use? Will it be more pastoral colors or strong colors? Or maybe a mixture of both? When you start to think like this, you stop comparing yourself to other singers and you start to give yourself more time to search for your own vocal expression. You start to play more with your vocal colors, sounds, feelings, emotions, and you really start to see yourself more like an artist that has a brush or your voice in your hands. Third, your vocal advantages are your value on one side of the paper, write down what's good about your voice, your vocal advantages on the other side, write down the areas of your voice you are not that happy with. It's really hard for people to find good side of their voice, right? It's way easier to find what we don't like then what happens. Most singers dedicate the majority of their practicing time fixing things that they don't like sometimes. Always forget about their vocal advantages. Yet, our vocal advantages are the biggest part of our unique vocal signature. There are characteristics of our voice that we were born with and that we achieved with ease, their sides of our voice that already now have power to move people. That's why it's really, really beneficial for your singing to find time to explore and perfect them. Make your vocal advantages even more amazing. I think we should dedicate at least 60% of our practice time to our vocal advantages. Then we should use the rest time for areas of our voice we would like to fix for, to touch the audience. You don't need to sing high and loud. In my practice, I found out that a lot of singers believe that you are a good singer. If you have really big range and very strong voice. That's what we praise on all the talent shows, right? But this belief makes a lot of singers push their voice too much. And instead of searching how to reach the full potential of their unique voice, they're mostly trying to extend their vocal range and power. Singing too high songs, using too much force, and sometimes ending in hurting their voice. Is it really true that all great singers have high and strong voice? Not really what they have are their own songs and their authentic expression of melody and lyrics. Sure, If you were born with strong and high voice, use it, perfect it. But if you are not, that's completely okay too. You don't need it to become great singer. What you need is accepting your voice, accepting the voice you were given. And then perfecting this sound, finding its strength and its Perfect range. Five. The right song key for your voice is like the right side of clothes for your body. When you find songs that you want to sing, try to find the right key. The key where you feel your voice is most at home, at least the majority of time of song. Sometimes only half step higher or a half step lower does the job. Even though it sounds like a really little change, it can make a major difference in your voice then when there's still a part of the song that is too low or too high, play with a melody. Create a melody that works for your voice. Think about your singing like this. If you want for your voice to sound free, relaxed, joyful, dynamic, authentic, you need to find the right size of clothes for it. Six, some people will never like your voice. That's completely okay. I will say this again. Some people will never like your voice. Whatever you do, whatever you try, they will not find your voice appealing. And that's completely normal. As a singer, it's really important that you accept this fact as soon as possible, because otherwise you will put too much energy into the impossible, trying to please all the people. When you start singing, have this in mind. Really don't be concerned about the number of fans or a number of non fans, but rather put your energy in creating and finding your own art. Then your people will slowly find you. If you can inspire one person, you can inspire more people. Be happy about one person first instead of giving your energy to people that don't like your voice. Giving energy to convincing them that you're okay. Give your energy to people that like your voice. Stay faithful to the art that you feel and you enjoy. And then create your singing community slowly from this place. Seven, the intention behind singing has big impact on people. Do you know that your voice can heal? Some sound scientists say that sound is the future medicine because sound can put our body into the health resonant. It can be sound from the outside. But what's even more amazing, we have an instrument for sound in our body. But do you know what scientists also found out? They proved that sound only benefits us if there's the right intention behind it. You can make two same sounds, but they have completely different effects on you or people. They listen to you with one we feel good and with the other we don't. It's about the intention behind the sound. There is this amazing book that talked about the seven secrets of Sound healing by Jonathan Goldman. If you like what I'm talking about, check this book out if you want for your voice to touch the audience, work on your intention behind it. What's behind your sing? Is it spreading love or is it spreading out certain message? Or is it wanting to spread out party energy and make people happy? Or maybe is it proving to the audience that you're something more because you can sing? Think about what's behind your singing, what energy is behind your singing technique and your style. Then also before you perform, think about the intention behind your performance. Goldman says frequency plus intention equals healing. We can say your authentic voice plus intention equals touching people's heart. I hope I inspire you with the seven facts of your voice. Let's repeat them once again. Nobody on this planet has the same instrument as you have. Second, singing is art, and you are an artist. Third, your vocal advantages, your good sides of your voice that you already have, are your biggest value to touch the audience, you don't need to sing high and loud. Then we said the right song key for your voice is like the right size of clothes for your voice. The '60s, some people will never like your voice and you need to accept this as soon as possible. And the seventh, the intention behind singing has big impact on people. Write the ones that resonate with you down, and if you sometimes feel frustrated with your voice, go and read them out loud again. I really, really wish you great holiday time. I wish you all the best. Enjoy life. Enjoy your body, enjoy your voice, and enjoy singing lots of love. Bye.
