1. Intro: What if I told you that
you could make a series of delightful holiday
drawings with me in as little as 5 minutes a day? The holidays are busy, but it's still important to carve out time for
your creativity. That's why I created this
12 day drawing challenge. Each day, I'll be making a simple holiday
themed illustration. These drawings can be done in as little as five to 10 minutes. But if they spark
your creativity, which typically happens when
you get your hands moving, you might even want to keep
going and draw more things. Hi, my name is Genna Blackburn, and I'm a service
designer and illustrator. If you had told me ten years
ago that my art would be featured on fun products with
some of my dream companies, I wouldn't have believed you. Back then, creating art
did not come easily to me, and I was crushed under the weight of self
doubt and uncertainty. Fear used to keep me from practicing until I realized
that drawing every day, even if it's a simple drawing, helps take the pressure
off and allows inspiration and
creativity to flourish. So that's what we'll be
doing in this class. I will be drawing something
easy every day for 12 days, and you're invited
to join me to keep your creative practice going during the busy holiday season. Plus, it's just fun to draw
holiday themed things, right? This class is for complete beginners and for those who are already making lots of art but want some prompts to get
their juices flowing. No drawing skills are necessary for this fun and easy class. I'm gonna be using
crayons because they help me keep things
light and playful, but you can use crayons. You can use whatever
materials you'd like markers, pencils, and iPad,
watercolors, et cetera. I'm excited to do this 12
day challenge with you, so grab your hot cocoa and your crayons and
let's get started.
2. Class Project: In this class,
we're going to draw a holiday item every
day for 12 days. We'll have fun
drawing things like Christmas trees,
stockings, and wreaths. By drawing something simple, we will take the
pressure off and get our creative juices flowing. For this class,
you'll need something to draw with pencils, markers, paints, an
iPad, et cetera. I'll be using crayons
and four inch by four inch pieces
of regular paper. Download my free 40 page guide that complements this class and helps you get over
the fear of making bad art and find
your creative voice. Go to Genna
blackburn.com slash GID. No drawing skills or
previous experience is required for this class. The drawings will
be super simple, and you should be
able to complete them in about 5 minutes. As you complete your drawings, upload them to the Projects tab. I'd love to see
what you create and share your drawings on
Instagram using the hashtag 12 Days of Crasms so we can all
cheer each other on. In the next lesson, we'll get started with day one
of the challenge.
3. Day 1: Stocking: Welcome to day one of the
12 Days of Crayonsmas. Today, I am going to be drawing a stocking
with a cat in it. So first, you draw the
body of the stocking, and then because I'm
drawing with crayons, you don't have to
draw with crayons, but if you're drawing
with crayons or something like a marker or something
that doesn't erase, leave room for the cat's paws. So don't draw the
very top line of the stocking because
we're going to draw some little paws
peeking over the top. So draw the paws, and then you can come back in and draw the top
of the stocking. And add whatever
elements you want. For the cat, I like to
put little marks for its ears and for
stripes on its head. But you can do
whatever you want, and you can make whatever
color stocking you want. And then I like to just draw very simple eyes and a mouth and nose and
whiskers on the cat's face. And, of course, little
claws coming off. I love drawing with
crayons and you can use whatever you want for
this 12 day draw along. You can use markers.
You can use paint. You can use an iPad
with procreate. I love drawing with
crayons because there's something very
playful about them, and they cost almost nothing. And so that fear that you can sometimes
have when you have really precious art supplies and you don't want to quote
unquote waste them, that fear isn't there because crayons are fairly easy to get. You might even have some laying around in your house
that you forgot about. And so they might
be free to you. And that's how I actually
first got into crayons was I found a box in the closet that I don't know why I
had a box of crayons. I don't remember buying
it, but I had them. And I thought, I'm going
to play around with these. And so now when I
draw with crayons, it really takes the pressure
off and I can just have fun, and it feels kind of playful, and I kind of feel
like I'm tapping into that childlike nature of drawing where you don't think so hard about what
you're drawing. You just kind of
have fun with it. And so when I'm
drawing with crayons, I kind of feel like I'm getting a chance to
tap into that again. I feel like as you get older, it can be really easy to
lose touch with that, and you can start to
really overthink what you're drawing and
even be really hard on yourself
and feel you know, you need to make
something really amazing every time
you sit down to draw, and you just don't. And really putting
that pressure on yourself is just gonna
make things worse. So I love to just play around and not worry so
much about the end result. So you can decorate the inside of your stocking however you
want. You could do stripes. You could do polka
dots. You could do a combination of colors. You don't have to use
all red, like I did. You can do whatever you
want. So there we go. Oh, and I'm going to draw
the tops of the paws. I think I think
that looks better. Okay, there you go. There's the first day
of Christmas. Have fun.
4. Day 2: Christmas Lights: Welcome to day two of
the 12 Days of Crasmas. Today, I'm drawing a set
of Christmas lights. So start out by drawing a
swirly line on your paper. It can be whatever
shape you want. You don't have to follow
exactly what I'm doing. I am using a four inch
by four inch piece of paper just because I like
drawing in little squares. It takes the pressure off
when you're drawing in a little space rather
than a big space. So I just kind of like it. Plus, then all your drawings look kind of nice together
when they're all done. So Okay, so once you
have your line drawn, you can fill it in with bulbs. So I like to alternate colors, and you can make
your bulbs round, or you can make them
this eye shape. So I'm just I've picked out, you know, like, five
of my favorite colors, and I'm just alternating and
I'm gonna go all the way around the lights or all
the way around the line. I mean, so while I'm doing this, this is going to
take a little while. I want to talk to
you about why I created this 12 day
drawing challenge. I am a big fan of
drawing every day, even if it's something
really simple, even if you just make
some squiggles on a page. And that's because
there was a time Years ago before I really got into
any sort of creative groove, when I really doubted I was meant to be a
creative person, and I mean, everyone's
a creative person, but sometimes it's hard to
lean into that creativity. And I was really struggling with having a consistent
drawing practice, and I I would I would want to sit down to
make something really great. Every time I sat down to draw or paint or
create anything. And I put so much
pressure on myself. And I thought, you
know, Well, today, I don't have 4 hours
to make a masterpiece, so I guess I'm not gonna
sit down and draw. And, you know, then a lot of days would go by
without drawing anything. And then when I did
sit down to draw, if I didn't love what I made, I'd be like, I shouldn't be an artist. I
shouldn't be doing this. What I made is terrible. And I would just feel really
bad for the rest of the day. And then this made me
not want to sit down even more to draw. And so I wasn't getting better. I wasn't know, getting into
any kind of creative flow. And then I just after a lot of journaling and a lot
of deep thinking, I decided instead
of trying to draw a masterpiece every
once in a while, I would try to draw
something simple every day. And I would not judge it. I would not decide if
it was good or bad. I would just try something
every day and move forward. And the first day, I drew something and
I did not like it. But I just told myself, Okay, because you don't love
what you made doesn't mean it was a waste of time. It was still good practice. And this that line right there. It wasn't a waste of time. It was still good practice. I had to tell myself that
over and over and over. And that line right there, that made all the
difference because now I wasn't drawing to
make something amazing. I was drawing to get my practice in knowing that even if I
didn't love what I made, I was still moving forward, and it doesn't
always feel like it that day from day to day. It doesn't always feel like
you're moving forward. But after some time, maybe even just like a week or
two weeks or 30 days, you'll look back and realize
you've made progress, and you'll feel really good
about having drawn every day because you'll know that you've been giving
time to your creativity. You've been giving your
creativity some love. And that starts to give
you more confidence. And then it just
starts to snowball. And then all these little
drawings that you've made, they start to add up
before you know it. And suddenly you're starting to find your unique creative voice. You're starting to lean into the artwork that
only you can make. And that's a wonderful thing. And so I want to share this revelation with everybody because everyone is creative. It's just a matter
of tapping into it. And tapping into it, I think, means keeping your hands
moving and drawing every day, even if it's something
so, so simple. So that's why I created this 12 day
drawing challenge because, you know, December's
a busy month. We've got a lot going on. It's really easy to let your creative practice
fall to the side. And so I thought, you know, if you could just
draw along with me, you don't even have to
think about what to draw. You can just draw
what I'm drawing. You know, that will help you
get your daily drawing in. And you'll be able to keep your daily
drawing practice going without having
to think so much. And then we can have
a little bit of fun together and draw, you know, some holiday
themed things. And I just love how sometimes the simplest drawing
can be so satisfying. Like, look at this. Look
at these Christmas lights. It's just a swirly line with some colorful shapes
coming off of it. And it's I'm just really
loving this right now. I love color, and I really love working in a limited
color palette like this. So I've got a blue, a pink, a green, a red, two grains, a light green and a dark
green and a yellow, and just something about using these just
these few colors. It's just so satisfying.
I just love it. I'm really loving this
drawing right now. So I hope that you are
loving your drawing as well. But if you're not, if you're drawing these
Christmas lights right now and you really don't
love what you're drawing, and it's making you feel
bad about yourself, and it's making
you doubt whether or not you should be making art. I just want you to
know you're not alone. Everyone has those thoughts. It's completely normal. And even if you don't
love what you're making right now in this moment, just know that you are on the right path that
just by taking the time to sit down
and draw, you have won. And I'm just I think
I'm gonna fill in this, I'm filling in this line
with a darker green just 'cause I want the cord of the lights to show
up a little bit better. And sometimes I really
love what it looks like when you do you kind
of have like a two tone. Like, there's, like, a light green with a dark green on top, and you can kind of see the
light green underneath, and it just looks kind of nice. So Okay, I'm really loving
how this turned out. But if you don't
love how it turned out, don't worry about it. I'm still so proud of
you for showing up.
5. Day 3: Wreath: Yeah. Welcome to day three of the 12 Days of Crayonsmas. Today I am drawing a wreath. So start by drawing a circle and don't worry if
the circle isn't perfect. If it's a little wonky, it's actually going to
make it just a little bit more interesting and a little
bit more natural looking. So don't fret too much about
that. Just do your best. And then once you've
got your circle, just go around and add as leaves going all
the way around. And it's pretty simple. You can make this as neat
or as messy as you want. It's gonna look good either way. And even if you don't
love what you made, and it feels a little
too messy, you know, you've still got your
daily drawing in, and that's all that matters. And if you don't know
what I'm talking about, go back and watch Day two. You've probably watched
Day two if you're here. Um, but I talk a lot in
day two about this concept of just showing up even if you don't love what you made
and just drawing every day. So yeah, so keep
it loose, keep it. You know, just keep it moving all the way around the circle. And then what I love to do is, I like to work with two
different shades of green when I'm making leaves, and I will use the other
shade of green to make, like, the veins in the leaves. So if I made the
outside of the leaves light green and make the inside dark green and vice versa, and I think this just
looks kind of nice. I like the way these two
greens look together. I'm using just a regular green and yellow
green, I believe. And the combination of those two crayon colors together just really,
really like that. So go all the way around and add the inside
of your leaves. And now I'm going to
add some red berries. And for this, I think it's
important to do like, groups of two, groups of three, some single ones, and kind of spread them
out all the way around. And don't make it look too you want to make
it look random. You don't want to make
it look too planned out. So I've got a group of three and then a couple
of groups of two, and then one kind of
hanging out by itself. And I'm just going
around and adding berries all the way around where it feels good to put them. I would normally draw, if I was drawing this
digitally on the iPad, I'd probably draw
the berries going more in the center
of the leaves, but because it's
crayons and it just will get kind of
messy if I try to if I try to draw a redbry on
top of the green leaves, it probably won't
stand out very good. So that's why I'm kind of
keeping to the outside. If I was drawing digitally, I probably would draw them on top. So yeah, just fill in the berries and go
all the way around, and you could even if I'd
thought about it in advance, I could have left
room for a bow, but it's too late now
to put a bow on top. At least with crayons, I don't
think it would work good. So yeah, I'm pretty
happy with that. I think this was a success. I will see you
tomorrow for day four.
6. Day 4: Gifts: Welcome to day four of
the 12 Days of Crasmas. Today, I'm going to be
drawing some gifts. I'm going to draw three gifts on this little piece of paper, on this four inch by four
inch piece of paper, you can draw however
many you want, but I'm going to try to
leave room for three. So start by drawing a
square or rectangle, and then you can decorate
the inside of the gift however you want with
stripes or poka dots. And then I like to
add a bow on top. And look at that. That is so
simple but so satisfying. I love how just a few lines
can make this. I don't know. I just I think it's
a satisfying little drawing a little just
a little present. Okay, on this one, I'm
going to try poka dots. I think I'm gonna alternate
different colors. Just going around
kind of randomly, putting in different colors. So I'm using a limited
color palette. You can't see it because
it's out of frame right now, but I've picked out my favorite colors from
the crayon box. And I've just got
two shades of green, a yellow, a pink, a red, and two shades of blue. And I just love working
with these colors. So all of my drawings in
this 12 Days of Cransms, they're all gonna use
these same colors. And so all the drawings are gonna look really cute
next to each other because they're all made of
the same color palette which just immediately unifies
the whole collection. So I really like working within
a limited color palette, and I think it's really
become a big part of my unique creative voice because I tend to use
these same colors a lot. So, okay, I've filled in the
the gift with poke dots, and now I'm adding a bow. I think maybe this will just
be a bow sitting on top. Yeah, I think that looks good. Okay. My crayons are really
flaking off on this paper. I usually with crayons,
like to use a really, really smooth paper because it is a little bit easier to draw with crayons on
very smooth paper. This paper has a little
bit of a texture to it, which is why the crayons are kind of getting
a little bit flaky. I can't help but try to brush
them away as I'm drawing. Okay, here's the last gift. So I'm going for,
like, a little bit more of a squattier shape, and this ribbons going all the way across the top and bottom. And then just
another bow on top. And maybe I'll fill this
one in with well, no, I think maybe I'll just
leave this one blank like this and not fill it
in with anything else, but you can decorate yours
however you want to. I look forward to
seeing what you need.
7. Day 5: Tree: Welcome to Day five of
the 12 Days of Christmas. Today, I'm going to be
drawing a Christmas tree. So I'm going to
start with my green, and I'm just drawing the
outline of the tree. And then using Brown, I'm gonna draw the trunk. And then I'm going to
draw a tree skirt. I have been seeing these
What are they called? They're not tree skirts, but they're like they're like, stands that you can
put your tree in. Not like the baskets,
but, like, like, these really beau I saw this
really beautiful star, like, wooden stand that you
set your tree in, and it just looks so satisfying. 'Cause tree skirts, they
get like I don't know, they just never lay quite right, and then you get pine
needles all over them, and I really want one of these
fancy wooden tree stands, but, um, I probably don't
need that at this point. My tree skirt is just fine
that I have on my tree. But I think it would
be nice eventually. So yeah, draw any kind
of tree skirt you want. Minus just solid red, but sometimes when I'm
drawing a tree skirt, I'll draw stripes or poka
dots or something like that. You could also do, like, a ring around it in a different color. And then we're going to
add the Christmas lights. So just draw some lines
going down around the tree. I like to use green as my, like, the cord for the lights, and then just go around and add the lights and different
colors if you want. I'm a big fan of colorful
lights on my tree. I also like white lights, but I'm a big fan of
color in general, so I don't know if you
guys have heard of true tone Christmas
lights, TRU, TONE. But I found those
a year or two ago, and they look like
incandescent lights, like the lights from when
we were kids, you know, and they just the colors
are so beautiful, not like some of the LED
lights that are kind of harsh. So that's kind of what I'm thinking of now as
I'm drawing these lights. And I'm just kind of
randomly alternating colors. I don't think anyone's
gonna, you know, check to make sure
that the yellow is always right
next to the green, but I'm doing my best to
just kind of alternate. I could go one by one all
the way down the lights, but to save time, I'm
just kind of like, see now I've kind of run into
a problem where I need to figure out how to fill in
these gaps, but it's okay. If anyone stops to realize that my lights don't alternate
colors perfectly, then that can be their reward
is finding the issues here. And then adding a tree
star, a tree topper. You can add ornaments and all kinds of other
things if you want, and you could even draw like a cat coming out of the tree and then some
ornaments on the ground, like it knocked some
of the ornaments out. It's something I love to draw. I've drawn a cat in a Christmas tree on
multiple occasions. But I'm keeping it simple, and I really like how this looks, so I'm
gonna stop there. Okay. I'll see you tomorrow.
8. Day 6: Snowman: No. Welcome to day six of the 12 Days of Crasms. Today, I am drawing a Snowman. And since I'm drawing
with crayons, I can't really draw
white on white. So I just I picked a gray and I'm just gonna
outline the snowman in gray, and hopefully it looks okay. If I was drawing this
digitally on the iPad, I would make the
background a color and then make the snowman
white, obviously, but I don't have
that ability here, so I'm doing the best I can. And I purposefully made his body a little bit
not completely round. So like, his middle of his
body is kind of, you know, like if you made
an actual snowman, it would be it wouldn't
be perfect circles. So, you know, even if I
aimed for perfect circles, it wouldn't have been
perfect, so and then you can add whatever
things you want. I'm adding a scarf, but you could add whatever
you want to your snowman. I'm adding a scarf. I'm
definitely gonna add a top hat. I think first, I'm going to draw the eyes just so I can make sure I know exactly where
to put the top hat. But okay, we've got the
eyes and then buttons. And then should I
do a carrot nose? I don't know, let me
do the hat first. Okay. Yeah, I like that kind of off
to the side a little bit. I was just watching
the old Frosty the Snowman with my son
who's 2.5-years-old, and he saw it for
the first time, and he seemed to enjoy it. He watched the whole thing, sat still for it, and enjoyed it. I watched that movie so
many times as a kid. That one, Rudolph,
and the old Grinch, although my son really likes
the new animated grinch, but I can't fault him for that. It's pretty great.
Okay, should I draw? Okay, what I draw on the arms? And then okay, yeah, I just got a couple of
arms coming off here. And then I don't think I
want to draw a carrot nose, but to be more in
my signature style, I think I'm just gonna draw
a mouth in between the eyes. I really like to draw
mouths in between the eyes. That's just kind of my thing. So I like that. That's not really
realistic for a snowman, but I don't know. We can pretend it's, like,
some licorice or something. I don't know. Okay, I
like how that turned out. I think I'm going
to leave it there. And yeah, I kind of like to maybe add another color somewhere,
but I don't know. I'm just gonna keep it simple.
9. Day 7: Hot Cocoa: Oh. Welcome to Day seven of the 12 Days of Crasmas. Today, I am drying
some hot cocoa. I used to love when I was a kid going
outside and playing in the snow and then coming
inside and drinking some hot cocoa or hot chocolate, as I usually call it. It's just something so
satisfying about that. And so, yes, I love me
some hot chocolate. I used to love the kind that you just make with
water and the powder. But now that I'm older, I really love making it with milk and chocolate
syrup. But anyway. Okay, so I've just drawn
a simple mug here, and I am making
the marshmallows. I'm outlining them in brown, and I'm going to
color in around them. And so it'll look like there's white marshmallows I don't know. We'll see. Hopefully
it turns out. Since I can't you know, I'm not working with
paint or anything, so I can't make white. So I have to just
leave the paper, and hopefully it'll work out. Okay, filling in around
the marshmallows. And you can draw whatever
kind of coffee mug you want. I have drawn my vintage anchor hawking mug that I always
love to drink out of. Look at mugs in your house for inspiration if you
want to kind of copy the shape of the mug or
just look up mugs on Google and see if you want to be reminded
what a mug looks like. Sometimes it's helpful to just see, like,
where the curves, you know, of the mug tend to be, or you can just draw
exactly what I'm drawing. Okay, I think that's
looking pretty good. And now I think this mug needs
a little something more. I don't want to color the
whole thing in with red, but I'm just gonna color
in the bottom here, even though my mug that I'm using in real
life is all red. I'm just gonna color
the bottom in red, and then maybe I'll
add some stripes. You could put a pattern in here, but I like the stripes. Okay, I can't wait to
see what you make. H
10. Day 8: Holly Berry: Welcome to Day eight of
the 12 Days of Crasmas. Today, I am going to draw
some Holyberry and normally, I just like to draw, like,
you know, the classic, like, two leaves and
then some redbries. But I'm going to
try to draw, like, some stems and more than
just two of the leaves. I meant to use two
different greens for this. I was going to draw the lines, the original the stems
with the dark green and then come in with
the light green to do the outside, but I forgot. I'm just going to
lean into this. Maybe I'll add some light
green in there somehow. Then I need to get
some berries in here. I think I'm going to draw
some lines coming off here. I can put the red berries
on the ends of these lines. I'm liking how this looks. I think I need to, I'm going to add
some light green in here just to give it
a little bit more. Color. Yeah. That's
looking really good. I feel like I need a little
bit more at the bottom here. I'm going to draw another one coming off of here like this. Now I need some more
berries. So okay. Let's see. Where should I put those B in the bottom right here
where there's some space. And I've got an odd
number of berries, which I like if I can help it. So yeah, that looks great.
11. Day 9: Gingerbread Man: Welcome to day nine of
the 12 Days of Christmas. Today, I am drawing
a gingerbread man. So I'm just gonna
draw the outline. And this is gonna be a
little bit hard because I don't I'm not gonna fill the whole gingerbread
man in with brown. And so the white
icing is gonna be, just maybe more
brown. We'll see. We'll see how this turns out. I don't know. I don't know
how this is gonna go. But, you know,
however it turns out, I showed up, and I'm gonna feel good about
my daily drawing, even if I don't like
how it turns out. So, okay, I got some
eyes and a mouth. Okay, he's looking good so far. I think I'm going to
add a scarf here. Okay. Yeah, that's looking
good. I like the scarf. I guess there's
probably many ways to decorate a gingerbread man
can do whatever you want. I feel like there's some pretty standard ways of doing it. I feel like a scarf is a
pretty common accessory. Then I'm just using brown showing where there might be white icing but
instead I'm using brown. I think I'm going to make
a curvy line here and then some lines around his
legs just like his arms. This looks a little wonky. I'm not sure about
this, but I showed up. I did my daily drawing
and that's what counts.
12. Day 10: Cardinal: Welcome to day ten of the
12 Days of Crayonsmas. Today I am drawing a cardinal
and well, a male cardinal. A female cardinal is brown, so not nearly as exciting. Okay, so I've started
with the wing, and then I've drawn
the body around it. And for the legs, I like to just draw
one line and then a line a shorter line
going back the other way. And then the beak and this is going to be a
challenge because the bird, it has a black eye and
a black around the eye. So I think I'll just draw kind of leave some space
around the eyeball so you can see where the eyeball ends and the black patch
around the eye begins. And then, other than that, the cardinals pretty
much solid red, but I'm going to make the
wing of the cardinal. I'm gonna make it black and red just to make it a little
bit more interesting. And sometimes when
I'm drawing a bird, I'll put little dots on the
belly, but I don't know, Cardinal is really
just solid red, so maybe I'll just
leave it there. Yeah, I think that
looks pretty good. Pretty a pretty simple
yet satisfying drawing.
13. Day 11: Ornaments: Welcome to day 11 of the
12 Days of Christmas. Today, I am going to be
drawing some ornaments. So ornaments are
really easy and fun to draw because you can really just make whatever shape you want. You can make, you know, a circle or you can make, like, this kind of cad eye shape, and then you decorate
them however you want on the inside with
stripes or poka dots. Or whatever you want. You could look up some
pictures of, like, vintage Christmas ornaments if you want a little
bit more inspiration for cool shapes and ways to fill the inside
of the ornament. There's lots of
inspiration online. I'm just kind of
winging it right now. I kind of wish I had
taken a moment and looked up some different, uh, different ways of making ornaments
before I jumped in, but here we are, just
kind of winging it. I like this colorful zig zag
ornament that I've made. I think I'm going to try
to get three ornaments on this page. So I'm gonna do one
that's a circle. I don't really have any
ornaments on my tree that I love because I'm very
particular about color, and I cannot find ornaments
in the colors that I want. I should maybe, like, paint my own ornaments
or something so that I can really make sure
they're the right colors. I spent a lot of
time last Christmas researching ornaments
online to purchase, and I just could not find any
in the colors that I like. I like very particular shades
of blue and green and red. And I just couldn't
make it work. So we've got ornaments
on our tree, you know, ones that
we've collected over the years, but
we don't have like, big bulb, like,
colorful ornaments. So anyway. Okay. Now I'm trying another
kind of shape. Let's see. How should I decorate
the inside of this one? Maybe I'll do, like,
a poka dot pattern on the inside with
different colors. Okay, I'm kind of
immediately regretting this, but I'm just going to keep going with it and seeing
how it turns out. That's one of the
things I love about drawing with crayons is
that you can't erase, and you just kind of
have to keep moving. You don't have time
to overthink things. I for several years, I drew just on the
iPad and Procreate, and I didn't draw
anything on paper. And I got really used to
being able to erase and, like, overwork things and undo. And I realized it was making
me like a perfectionist, and it was kind of
stifling my creative flow. And so that's when I
got out some crayons, and I just started
playing around and realizing that at first
it felt really weird. Like, I really wanted to
be able to undo and erase. And if I made a mark
that I didn't like, it felt very cky. Okay, I think I'm going to fill in the rest of the
page with just, like, these solid little
solid colored bulbs. I think that would
be pretty. Yeah, so drawing with crayons
at first felt really weird because
I couldn't undo. But then I just leaned into it, and I just would you know, if I made a mark I didn't love, I would just keep it moving. And this really allowed me to make more artwork than ever. And I got into a really
good creative flow. And so I'm a big fan of
drawing with crayons. I still draw on the
iPad all the time. And the iPad is my main form of, like, finalizing my artwork. So sometimes I'll draw with
crayons and then I'll redraw. Like, I'll take a picture of my drawing, my crayon drawing, and then I'll redraw and
procreate because I like to um I just like to clean up
my artwork in procreate. And then I vectorize it in Adobe Illustrator sometimes,
most of the time. And that's my process. And it sounds like
a lot of work, but I've gotten really
used to doing it that way, so it's not that big of a deal. Okay, that looks pretty good. I think I did I forget a color? I think maybe I forgot
the light blue. Yeah. Okay. There we go. I will see you tomorrow for the last day of the
12 days of Christmas.
14. Day 12: Mistletoe: Welcome to the last day of
the 12 Days of Cransms. This has been so much fun. We are ending the 12 Days of Cransmus with some mistletoe, which it's pretty easy to draw. You just draw a line,
and then you draw some, like, tear drops
coming off of it. And then I like to
use another Well, okay, first, I'm going to
put a bow on here in red. That is so cute. I
love drawing bows. Then I think I'm going
to add some green, darker green in here, and then some berries. And it'll be done. And I would draw white berries, but I can't I'm gonna
draw red berries. I hope that you had fun and
that your creativity is flowing and that even if you don't love the drawings that you made over
the last 12 days, I hope you are proud of
yourself for showing up. You made it to day 12. And the time that you put in, no matter if you love
what you made or not, is going to make a difference. You have made progress, even if you can't
feel it right now, and I'm so proud of
you for being here. I hope to see you in 2025. I have some really fun things. I have draw with Genna and
75 art coming up in January. 75 art is a 75 day
