1. Introduction: Hello, my name is Agnes de Bezenac, and I'm an illustrator and artist living in France. I'm so happy to be here with
you today for this course, as we will delve a little
bit into self-care with a fun and creative
doodle craft project. Self-care means taking
care of ourselves so that we can be healthy
physically and emotionally. For me, art brings me a
sense of peace and calm. Expressing my
feelings and emotions through doodles
helps to center me, which brings things
into perspective. And that's part of self-care. It's similar to the clarity
I get through journaling, but it lights me up
when I look over my past doodles and see
the progress I've made. You don't need to be an artist. Doodles can be messy. Lines going up and down
and all over the page. Kind of like life's
ups and downs. In this course, I will take you through my little
thought process of creating these doodle
pages related to self-care. We will only be working
through a few aspects of it. But hopefully, after these
ten days of doodles, you will be on your
way to creating your very own, on any
topic that you wish. And I encourage you to
personalize these pages for you. You do what is most
meaningful for you and fitting to your needs. And on top of it, it will be fun to look back and see your
progress over time, where you came from. And also be gently reminded
of how you want to continue taking care of yourself through combining art with self-care. I'm really looking forward
to seeing you very soon in class. Bye for now.
2. Material needed: I wanted to start
by showing a few of the materials that we will
need for this course. First of all, you'll
need a notebook around A5 size with as many
pages as you want. I have a book here
with 24 pages. I'm only going to use
ten or 12 of them. Don't worry about the cover. That is something that you can personalize and decorate
yourself nature. And I suggest to go with white
paper just without lines. You have a lot more liberty to do doodle journal as you wish. Next, you will
need some markers. I have here some water
markers are twin markers, just different colors,
lights and darks. Really whatever suits
your color style is what you can use. And I of course, will have my trusty pencil or mechanical pencil and an eraser. And there we have it. We're ready to begin.
3. Preparation: Before I get started
with this course, I wanted to give you
one little question, or maybe a few. Has a little mental
preparation exercise to do before we dive in. This won't take long, and this is only if
you want to do it. It could possibly be something interesting
and enlightening for you to refer back
to after the course. If you're ready, you can take
your self-care notebook or any other notebook or
journal you want to use and write down. It takes some time to
answer these questions. Why did I choose to
take this course? Now at this time? What am I looking forward
to in this course? Lastly, probably the
most important question. What does self-care look
like are mean to me. After you answer these, you don't have to do
anything with them. Just start going through
the course and enjoy. But hold onto your
answers because you may need them for
after the course. Okay, let's get
started for real now.
4. Morning Routine: To get started,
go ahead and open your first page
of your notebook. For this lesson. I'm going to work through
our morning routine. You can just go ahead and
follow along with me. But of course, be sure to
personalize this for yourself because this is The intention of this class of this course. We're taking the time
to think, to pause, to reflect on some
of the things that we can do to help take
better care of ourselves. So this is part of it. I'm going to start
just by making a little box on the
bottom of my page. I'm going to start out by
writing morning routine. The reason I'm doing it here at the bottom is just for
something different. I like to break out
of the norm sometimes instead of having the
title always on the top, I kind of like moving
things around a bit. Just choose whatever lettering
you lie, cursive or print. And here there's a little space where I will write the date. So we have our whole
page totally empty, totally free to just express ourselves in
the way that we want. What is my morning routine or what do I love most
about my morning routine? Very often when I'm blank, I don't know what to draw. I have a blank paper. I have a blank mind. I just start. The first thing. My morning routine is, well, I get up Often earlier
than my husband and I go and prepare
myself a cup of coffee. I'm going to just draw
little coffee mug, add a little decor to it. The next thing I do
is my gratitudes, and I call it sips
of gratitudes. The reason is because
every time I take a sip, I reflect and I think about
all that I'm grateful for. I started this little
ritual for myself. Sips of gratitude. I like to incorporate
some pictures, some text. I like to fill up
every little space. So I'm going to write
here the words, coffee. I like, including
different types of lettering to
it, makes it fun. Let yourself just be creative. Coffee, I'm going
to write first. Subset gratitude, this is the
most important part of it. Add little sparkles like that. And then sometimes
I like to add in some little keywords
are feeling words. This brings me a sense of joy. And I'm going to
put all my feeling in-between two double
lines like this. Next, I like to have a
little reading time. I'm going to just doodle, draw out some of the books
that I'm going through. During my morning routine. I'm making a little box
inside for the title. And actually I'm going
through two books right now. So I will go ahead and
draw these two books. That's the wonderful thing
about dude languages. Not perfection. We're not going for perfection. We're just going what
feels right at the moment. I came here, I'm going
to make a box for the title and I'll write favor. I'm going through the books. Simple, dense. I'm also reading
through the book. Artists sway. For parents, it's encouraging
me to think about creative ways I can encourage my kids to use their creativity. One of my best
things evolved for my morning routine
is my journaling. I'm going to just draw
here a little notebook. Making little curved
lines like this, makes it look more
like a notebook. I'm going to draw
some journal lines and append that I like to use. I'm going to add a
little few more lines to make it look
more like a book. Again, I like to write the way that my journal time
makes me feel okay. First of all, I'm going to write journal for the
type of lettering. I'm just into just
three different ones. What is folded like
this or bubble letter, however you call it. The next one is just
capital letters and then a simple cursive. Sometimes I go ahead
and use verb here. I'm just leaving
space for journal. And I'm going to put up here, journaling gives me a feeling of peace, calm, and clarity. I right in my emotions
and feelings. Like to add in some
of these key words. That reminds me about why I'm doing some of these things
for my morning routine. Another thing I like to add
in my wishes and goals, start with goals because
it's a little smaller. I add in some goals
and some wishes. That's the best
part of journaling. Because it's totally
related to you, totally personalized to me
what I need, what I feel. Nobody's judging me. It's just for me. I'm going to make a fun
little arrow like this. Like including the all text,
all different positions. After I get some peace, calm and clarity and
write down wishes, goals and motions that are
all my negative feelings. I bring in some positiveness. Usually I get inspired
and it gives me guidance in my creative journey. So that's the wonderful
thing about it. So I'm going to write guidance
and creative journey. It's really been my
lifesaver during these times of lows and not knowing what to do with my art, feeling like I lost talent, the neck or the
inspiration for it. So as I take time for gratitude, I take time for journaling,
express my emotions. I feel peace and calm, and it lights me and guides
me in my creative journey, especially in my art. I'm going to write here very often after I take
the time for journaling, I get time to do some art, which I call my creative play. So I'm going to add
in the word play. Sometimes I get to draw
one picture, two pictures. Sometimes I do this
for my journal. This is maybe a prompt. My morning routine
would be a prompt, and That's my artful play. Here. I'm going to draw
pretzel, my favorite bread. Going to draw a little brother. And it'll rainbow. I loved the rainbow colors. I'm going to draw some pencils. Some of my other favorite
things to draw, our flowers. I add flowers to most of
my drawings and creations. Be another pencil. So don't worry about
the little lines here. Right now, we're not even
thinking about that. We're just leaving
ourselves totally open to this process
of doodling, of expressing
ourselves, putting up our paper that all the things we love about our
morning routine. The best thing about
this art is I get to draw for no planned. It's not it's not for
any particular project. It's not for any
particular person. It's just for fun and play. And that's what I love about it. Most other thing, of course, I take time to get dressed. I'm going to draw and maybe a pretty outfit
Did I like to wear? I try to get creative with
my dressing up as well. Try not to wear the
same things every day. It's that kind of
gives me a sense of joy and freedom as well. Just draw here one of
your favorite outfits. The stress, it's got polka dots. It's so fresh and comfortable. Long. It's white color. I love, Patron, I love
and a texture I love. And it brings me confidence because when I
dress up in this outfit, I feel really confident. Again to show that
it's a feeling. I just make two little
lines like that. Don't have to do that. And if you don't want
to, another thing I do in my morning routine is I take time to go over
my planner for the day. I'm going to draw my
little planner book here. I called it plan her. That's the name of my
little planner book. Make it a nice little notebook. That way there is no stress. And I am better organized. Again, that gives me
the y of my planner. I'm going to add in
here little heart. Because my morning routine, I'm taking time for self-care. I'm noticing how
important that is. My life translates to self-love and self-care. Self-care can be a lot
of different things. I might put on a special
cream for my face. I might take a little extra time to put on some lush make up. All those little things
actually helped to make me feel loved and important,
confident, and beautiful. I see that as an important
part of self-care. Self-love, going
to draw a brush, take time to English my hair. One of the things I love is putting this flower in my hair. This flower in my hair. I feel totally
ready for the day. All this self-love makes me
feel that I am important. That's what lies at the
heart of self-care. So as you take time to create your morning routine,
paper doodle. Just remember that if you
remember that one thing, self-love, self-care, you're
taking this time for you. Everything else will fall into place and will feel more
balanced in your life. Helps me to feel beautiful because I'm
taking the time for myself. The other thing I do every
morning as part of my little routine, meditation time, whether it's reflection
or just thinking or doing a guided
meditation, or praying, whatever you find works for you, whatever fits into your culture
or religion, Lifestyle. I will call it. It did you translate it into whatever that
would mean for you? I'm going to make
little sparkles. It'll raise, maybe
add a little hour. From this time. I feel a sense of calm. Feel freedom to be who I am. Most of all, I feel joy. I think the last thing on my morning routine is
my breakfast time. What I usually eat
for breakfast is a little healthy
seed, nut, muffin. Add some little nuts, walnuts. I have a nice big bowl of yogurt where also add some nuts and seeds
are dried fruits. This is actually my
favorite meal of the day. It gives me energy. I feel energy to get going
with my day in my work. This way makes me feel
healthy and vibrant. Whenever you feed your body, is how your body
will feel in return, it will give back to you
just as what you give to it. I think that's what
I enjoy so much about my good breakfast, my organization, my meditation, my gratitude time,
my journal in time. Think about all the things
that you do in the morning. Maybe you only have ten minutes and maybe you don't
get to do all this. Some days I get to some of
them that I just added, all the ones that I do, whether it's on the
weekend or whether it's every other day. All right. So now that we've
sketched it together, now that you've personalized
your own morning routine, you can go ahead and
take your ink pen. And you can go ahead and also choose a set of markers
that you would like. I'm not sure yet what
color to go with. I'm going to go I'm going
to pick two colors. Before I even use my pen. I'm going to decide what parts I want to have some color in. Going to go and start
with my brush size side. Since there's two
sides to this one, I'm going to go for
all the big lettering. I picked blue because it's kind of makes me think about the day. Go ahead and choose
whatever color you want. I'm just showing you a little
bit what works for me. I'm taking I'm adding some blue a little
bit all over my page. Some of the texts, some of the pictures,
just outlining it. I don't want to take
too much time for this. But I do like to make it fun because I love to
refer to it later on. I'm going to use the
thinner side now. Then I'll go ahead and
take my other pin. Again, starting with
the bigger words. You just pick and choose
whatever you want to trace over those colors. That's all there is to it. I like to have a little bit of the same color all over my page. Going to write our tier, Maybe energy com. For the rest of it. I'm just going to go ahead
and ink it with my black pen. So you just go ahead and
trace the rest of your page. You take your time if you
need to pause the video, feel free to do that. We'll be ending this video. Just tracing over
all the doodles. While you're doing your inking. You realize that it's so
meditative, so relaxing. You're not thinking
about what next to draw. Just enjoying the process here, reflecting and all those things about your morning routine. Each one that you've taken
the time to draw and doodle. Have fun, put on some music. Your favorite song. Make this time for yourself. I find that it's not
only so relaxing, it's so good for my brain, even my inspiration levels. I'm able to work better. I'm able to think better and clearer after I've
taken the time to just express myself
on paper in some way. If as you're doing your, your lines, maybe you want
to change things up a bit. Maybe you get another idea, another inspiration,
then go with the flow. That's also part
of this journey. Maybe it will be a
challenge for you to find the time to do this
project, this activity. But just think about it as
a little gift to yourself. A little treat. To
feed your self-care, to feed your creativity, to feed you mentally,
emotionally, spiritually. I don't always get to do it
at the same time every day. Sometimes I do it
in the morning. Sometimes I do it before bed. You don't have to be an
artist do this because you can do it in your
own way, your own level. Draw or write the
way that you want, the way that is personal
and meaningful to you. Now that we're done
with our inking, we'll go ahead and
erase all the lines. You'll notice that you'll
have a cleaner look. They won't be all these
doodles and scribbles around. Best of all, is
that you'll be able to look back on
this little book, this little doodle book journal. Look back on it one day. And you'll feel really good. Really good that you took the
time to stop and create it. You took the time to
do this for yourself. I really like it going back to the ones that I've
done previously. It helps as a reminder for me, kind of check-in a little bit, see what I'm doing well in. What do I need to continue to grow in
or make progress in? Maybe what do I need to
change in my routine? And also it helps me
question the whys. Why am I doing it this way? Once you know your wife, you'll be more confident
to keep up with it, especially if they're
good little habits that you've grown accustomed to. And that really make a
difference for your life. If you want to add
final little touches, you can go ahead and just add it or patterns or dots
to your picture. I hope this was really
relaxing for you and meaningful and special, and most of all gave
you a chance to think about your self-care
for today, For every day. Personally, I like asking myself some questions or journal prompts as it helps
me delve a little deeper and listen to
my inner expressions. If you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and
journal your thoughts after each question or just
sit back and reflect. I've also included
a file that you can download if you prefer
doing so at a later time. Enjoy.
5. Evening Routine: Here's Part two of the
self-care doodle course. Today we're going to go
through our evening routine. So I welcome you
to draw with me to take your empty book
and to begin doodling your self-care routines or your self-care rituals and
personalize them for just you. I'm going to start off with
giving my paper a title. I'm putting it down here for something a little bit
different and original. I'm just going to titled
it evening routine. And then I close the box when I know that I've enough space
to finish writing my word. Then here, you can leave
space for the date. I'm gonna start out at
the top of my page. This is a time for reflection
about you, your self-care, things that you are doing
during your evening routine or things that you would like
to put in place for now. I'm just going to work
with what I'm doing. I think the first part of my self-care evening
routine is taking a shower. I'm going to just draw
a simple shower head. Of course you personalize it to. What do you do. These are just to give
you some helpful ideas. Maybe to give you
some inspiration. You can add. The importance. And the reason for this exercise is to think about your little
evening routine. I like to draw a little picture. I also like to add the words
in some of the keywords. I add in really big
texts like this. And sometimes I add in some
feelings or emotions here. It helps me feel clean. This is a perfect exercise for relaxation as well as for fun because you get
to include some art. You get to be
creative to imagine and to include all those
things that you enjoy. So I feel clean, I feel refreshed,
and I feel content. And I'd like to play around
with where I place my text. Next thing I probably do
is get into my pajamas. So it's kind of the end of
summer heading towards swell. We're in the middle of
autumn at this time. I'm getting on some
nice cozy PJs. I love my little pattern. Pjs. Then you might like to
write the words as well. I like to play around with
different types of lettering. Not too many different ones. I stick to three. Probably. He's bolded ones,
capitals and curses. I'm just going to
write here cozy PJs. They feel soft. Kind of gives me that
comfort feeling. Penned, of course, warmth. I might add little lines. To give it more attention. Then I'll probably move
on to cleaning my face. I have some beautiful
face cleansers that I got as a birthday gift. These have been my
favorite at the moment. They look something like this. They're totally natural. So I'm going to add
in a pretty leaf. I'm just letting myself be guided by inspiration,
by creativity. If you get stuck, if you're
not sure what to draw, what I find is that if I just start writing something instead, if you don't know what to draw, you write the word and then usually a picture comes to mind. Face, cleanse, how
do I feel? I feel. Touch of beauty. I like to use my
little face cloth. Face towel, super soft. I'm going to add the word here. Moisturizing. Maybe I'll put it in
a little box like this for fun, for variety. Another thing I do,
I love to just sit down with my journal. I'm going to draw here. Sketch out my journal book with my pen or pencil. I haven't ring book. Most of the time I do my
journaling in the morning, but I find it so uplifting, encouraging and inspiring to go back to my journal
in the evening, whether to finish it, to complete it in some way. I'm going to write here
complete or to read over it. Maybe to do some
gratitudes from the day. Time for me to reflect and to feel encouraged. Either I have something to celebrate or I have something to look forward
to for the next day. I had something to
be proud about. Inspired about. It's a beautiful part of my evening routine which I
just started doing recently. And it helps remind me about the reflection times
that I had about my day. I also feel joy because of it. Then I take a little
time. Neither in bed. Also before bed. Either I sit in the living room, on the couch, or in bed. For everybody else. Gets in bed. I take some time to read a book. Some of the books
I'm going through. I'd like to write it
in the book like this. I added the titles. These are two different books, but I don't have space to draw. 21 book I'm reading right
now is called joyful. Then another one
is plant paradox. This one is more
of a health book, but I find it very interesting and I'm sort of
curious about it. I will write here in
big bold letters, books, because it's
an important part of my evening routine as well. I find that it's
not only uplifting, inspiring, loved
the joyful book, it just makes me feel happy. It helps inspire me to find more ways to be
joyful in my own life. As I look at the world, things around me in
a different way, in a new light, even different shapes and
different colors. And to realize that all those things actually
make a difference, a big difference in our
positivity and joyful level. I'm going to also include
the word learning here. Because every time I read something I learned
something new, I feel that I'm
making some progress. I also like to, while I read my book, take time for a
little cup of tea. Part of self-care is making sure I get enough liquids in my body. I love little herbal teas, fruit trees, food tease
at this time of year. Of course, it's because
it's getting cold now. On a hot summer day, I would probably drink something refreshing and cold
with little ice in it. Something else I want to add is this goes and ties in
with my journaling. But this is an important part of my evening routine or ritual. I'm going to make a little
speech bubble to my journals. Because here are some
of the questions that I asked myself. So I will write one word appear. I might ask myself, what went well today. Or how did I feel? Thanks. Some of those questions are so important to
ask ourselves and it's sometimes those
questions that we overlook. I know I do I don't take the time to ask
myself those things, but they definitely helped
me to feel joy, compassion. Even if there was some
frustrating moments, I learned to forgive myself. Realize that it's okay. We all have those days, those ups and downs. Sundays will be good. Some days will be a
little more challenging. The good days I
celebrate and the challenging ones I
realized that they were just stepping stones are they helped me to
get to the next step. Looking back and reflecting on my day also helps
me feel fulfilled. Like maybe if I haven't
accomplished anything big, if I've taken time for my morning routine and
my evening routine, I feel that I've done something important and done
something good for myself. I think that's at the
heart of self-care. Nearing winter. I enjoyed lots of fluffy
pillows on my bed. Now also have a heating blanket. So this is a special treat
and something I love. I might right here in blankets. What do I love about it? I think it's the warmth, maybe the coziness of it. Lots of pillows. Something else to
add to my routine is I take my vitamins before bed. So putting it like
this on paper not only reminds me of the things
that I need to do, actually, it kind of
helps me realize, hey, I'm doing all these things. That's quite amazing when
you put it all together. Because maybe you
don't really take time to list your
evening routine. And to realize that you're
doing all those things, that it's part of self-care. The best thing of all what
I look forward to most, my evening is our family time. Either we'll watch
a movie together. Again. On Friday nights. We have a game night and a special dinner,
special dessert. Other knights will
watch documentaries or we might just chitchat. Really, this is what
keeps us close together. So I'll definitely add lots
of hearts to this part. I think that's it. If there's any little blanks, you can either add
some extra words. For example, my journal
is also my time. For gratitude. I didn't include before. Anything else. If not, you can always add some little stars,
little circles. Just anything that you would like to fill up your paper with. And of course, feel free
to personalize it to you. This is an example of
my evening routine. But the important thing
in this project is actually creating it about you. And for you. Now that we have
our pencil lines sketch, I'm going to go over it
with my black thin point. Or if you want, you
can go ahead and use some colors and a marker. Maybe I'll put in a
couple of colors. Let's see how it goes. Wherever my text
is, big and bolded, I'm going to use a thick pen. Again, feel free to use
whatever you have available. Can I use a thinner part for any smaller details are
smaller words that I would like to add
some color too. You can also go ahead
and just leave it totally black and white. I just think it's a
little more fun to add some color and that's the
whole reason for this project. We're having some fun
focusing on our self-care, being loving to ourselves. I also like to add some
little patterns or de corps wherever I can. Then I'm going to go
with my other color. I'm keeping it very simple, minimalistic because
we already have so much going on
with our doodles. So I don't add too much color. Here's a nice
bright, bold color. I kind of like
having a light color and a bold color on my paper. There's not really any rhyme
and reason which ones I choose to make a certain color. I think all I'm doing
is just kind of evening out the colors
across my whole page. Sometimes I even decide
to change place. If I see that it
will fit better. Now's the perfect
time when you're not focusing too much
on what you're drawing, what or what to draw. How to draw just to reflect
on your evening routine. What's the most special
to you about it? What would you change about it? What is something you would
add to your evening routine? So all those questions are an important part
of our self-care. I encourage you to take some time for
yourself to do that. It all right. I kind of like the
mix of colors, not too much, not too little. And for the rest, I'm just going to use my black pen and
trace over the lines. May take a little time, but again, just think of it. This is time for yourself. This is not time wasted. As you're tracing, you
can be reflecting, you can be thinking. If you prefer, you could
also listen to something, listening to your favorite
music into a favorite podcast. Just to help you get in the
mood and seeing the moon of in thinking about
what you need. What brings you joy. What good habits do
you want to continue to have or to start or to build
for your evening routine? I noticed that the times that I take for my evening routine, I'm able to relax more
and sleep better. Just taking the time
to stop and breathe. Treat myself to
this little time. So important for my well-being. As you noticed, I haven't
added in there any phone time or social media or emails or Instagram
or any of that. I tried to fill up my evening
routine with everything else and keep my phone
away. During this time. Not only does it help my sleep, but it just helps me
to feel more peace, more relaxed, and more centered. If you do have an evening routine or you
make yourself one, then you won't feel bored in
the evenings wondering like, oh, what do I need to do? What could I get
done before bed? I have nothing to
do but get online, checkout, social media course, there's a time and
a place for that. And sometimes
because of our word, maybe that's the only
time that you have to check out those things. Stay on top of certain
ones that you want to. But then I would just suggest to limited to
a certain amount of time or maybe before
getting into bed yourself. That way you're building habits. Good habits. That will help you feel
good about yourself. And also help you to
relax in the evening. For example, if you
don't take a shower, maybe you take a
bath, draw a bathtub. Maybe you have other
special face bottles, face lotions or
things that you do. Maybe you all your
hair before bed, all those little
rituals and routines. Make sure to
personalize it to you. This will not only
help keep you busy, but you'll also realize that you're doing so much
to take care of yourself when maybe
you thought you weren't giving yourself anytime. Let this also be an
encouragement for you. It was for me when I put
it all on paper and say, Wow, I do all this at
night. My evening routine. I didn't even think
I had a morning and evening routine before
until I wrote it all down, then expressed it
on paper like this. As a creative, there's something special about mixing
text and drawing. If you're here at
this class today, then maybe likely you as well. Tell me how it goes for you. I would love to hear or to see some of your examples of
your evening routines. Please let me know too, if this was helpful to you. And setting up for yourself this little ritual and building some good
habits into your life. Taking time for you, taking time for self-care. I realized that if
you're a busy parents, you might not have much
time for yourself this way. If that's the case, just know that even five minutes or ten minutes of whatever you do is well-worth
the time and effort. So maybe you'd have
to wait before your till your kids are in
bed themselves are sleeping. You'll probably feel wiped out and tired at the
end of a busy day. But don't let that
stop you from at least doing a few little things. You're already
taking a shower and getting into comfy pajamas, doing your face cleanse. You're probably doing most
of these things already. So take time to celebrate that. Maybe you only have
time to read one quote. Sometimes that's what
I have the time for. My whole family gets
into bed and we have our little evening
activity together. I've learned to be
okay with that. I love every part of it. Every part of my
evening routine. If you're a real artist, you might want to delve more into some of the details here. Maybe make a little
bit a fancy or add more pictures and less text. Really add in what suits you. And if you're just
a beginner at art, well, as you can see, this art is very simple. Anybody can do it. Most of it is just straight
lines, some curved lines. I am definitely not
lettering person, even though I wish I would be. Shows that anybody
can do this project. I like inking. It's because that way
it preserves the page. As you notice probably with some pencils are some
papers after a few years, starts to erase, starts to diminish and you don't
see things as clearly. So that's why I like inking it. I'm not so confident as to
just starting with pen, but if you would like
to challenge yourself, then please feel
free to do that. I'm sure one day I will try to because I love
trying new things. And also pushing myself a
little bit with my art. You can just trace
along with me here. Or if you need more time
or maybe less time, then feel free to pause the
video or to skip part of it. Please take the time to do it. How you feel would be the
most beneficial and the most. Meaningful to you. Just so you don't feel bad. I actually just recently
started to check-in with me. See how I'm doing. Ask myself questions,
what do I love? What do I enjoy? What is my evening routine? What is self-care? How can I practice self-care in my life, all those things, even just one year ago, not very much in my
vocabulary or on my mind. With so many things going
on in the world in my life, noticed how much I need it. I need this time
for my well-being. Especially asking these types of questions, how did I feel? Such and such make me
feel so important? Sometimes it's
hard to do because you might not know
how to express those feelings or emotions. By putting it on paper, I think is probably
one of the best ways. Because it's free, just you don't have to feel that anybody's
going to judge, you. Look down on you, criticize you for any of this. This is between you and you. Few except how you
are, how you feel. You'll start noticing
that others will as well. I've been able to experience
that with my confidence, even in my art. Not waiting for others
to validate me, confirm an idea or
a project for me. Now I feel that if it comes from within, if
it comes from me, if it's an idea and inspiration, then I can be free to
move ahead with it. Of course, to keep checking in, making sure I'm on track. But then it helps me so
much more with my y's. Why am I doing this? Because I feel like it. I wanted, I want to do it. How much better is that
thinking or feeling? Because so, and so
wants me to do this. Just doing things
because of obligation. People pleasing. That's an important part
of self-care as well. Realizing that all these
things that you're doing is because you want it. It's for your own good. How much more benefit
where you get from it if you see things that way. All right, well, we're
almost done here. Too smooth it onto
my little title. Boy, this was this
was a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun. Here's our finished page
of our evening routine. I noticed that I made it
little spelling mistake, so I'm going to write it out. Just don't copy my mistake.
And then you'll be fine. And I went ahead and erase all the pencil lines
from underneath the Pen. That way just gives
a nice cleaner look. I added even a little
bit more color, a little bit of shading, and even with some
pencil shading. So I took my mechanical
pencil and I just had fun because I
had a little extra time. Did a little more shadings
behind here just for fun. You don't have to do this
part, but if you want to, you can just like how it makes it all come
out a little bit more. Texts gives it a little
bit more texture, a little bit more depth to
my sketches, to my doodles. But because they're
just doodles, you really don't have to
into that much detail. I had loads of fun
making this page and I hope that you did to
as much as I did. And I hope that you can continue
to grow into new habits. Or realize how many habits, how many self-care
things you're doing already with your
evening routine? Personally, I like asking myself some questions or journal prompts as it helps
me delve a little deeper and listen to
my inner expressions. If you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and journal your thoughts
after each question. Arches sit back and reflect. I've also included a file
that you can download if you prefer doing so at a
later time. Enjoy.
6. Free time pleasures: Welcome to our next
session of this course. Today we're going to be
sketching, doodling, journaling about our
free time pleasures. Here comes a fun one. I'm going to go ahead and
start making a box for my title right about here on
the lower part of my page. I'm not closing it yet
so that I can first add in the texts to see how
far my text will come. So I'm going to write
my little title. As I delve into my self-care, doodling for my free
time pleasures. You could call it hobby. Past times, whatever
would suit you best. Then I continue to
draw box and close it. And here you have a little
space to write in the date of when you're doing your little fun self-care
journaling, moving on, I'm going to think,
reflect, and pause, maybe close my eyes
and just think about those free time pleasures
that I enjoy the most. I probably won't have space to put them all on this paper. Which one comes to
you first take time. It really think about
it because this is what's the most
meaningful for you, not what you've heard
from somebody else, not what I'm going to draw here. So before I even put
my pencil on the page, I want you to start
drawing, start dueling. What is it that
free time pleasure that you just love to do, that you look forward to at the end of the
week or at the end of a busy day after work or
when their kids are in bed. I can think of mine right away. So I'm going to start by
writing it really big. You can start by writing
it or by drawing it. You'll notice in
some of my doodling, sometimes I start
with a picture, sometimes it comes
in letters first. That's why just
go with the flow. Because that's what
needs to come out first. So it's a funny thing
that probably my favorite past-time or free time
pleasure is drawing. And here I am writing
it down in letters, but writing is actually
kind of art as well. It's a form of drawing. I loved drawing. Sometimes it comes
out as sketching. Just with a pencil. Sometimes it comes
out like doodling, which is what I'm doing here. Sometimes. I prefer just coloring, not even drawing,
but just coloring. And somehow I just let it all happen and follow with a flow, follow my heart because it knows what it needs
at the moment. I'm going to go ahead
trucks something now. Be one box there. We're not really planning
anything on our paper. We're just it from the top. You could start
from the middle if you want and work your way out. Just whatever seems right
and comfortable for you. I don't really know what my paper is going to end
with here, but that's okay. That's the fun thing
about doodling. Doodling basically you just
draw almost without thinking. I remember when I was young, I was on the phone
and I would just be doodling or sometimes at school, your mind is on a
totally different plane. It's thinking as
school your studies are at the person that you're
talking to on the phone. But somehow my hand
would just be doodling. Then I had so much
fun during that. By the end of the phone
call or the end of class, my whole paper was filled
with doodles as I waited. This come from. That's what I think of. When I think of doodles. I'm not even giving
too much thought. I think that's
very hard actually for artists to do and creatives, because we'd like to have
everything planned out. Or I like to have a
reason for my art. But I know and I've
realized that I really need the time to just do
it from the heart, not have anything in mind. If I call it my creative play. Because then I don't have
to worry about the results. I just have fun and
enjoy the process. That's what kids
do when they play. I love drawing
animals, cute animals. He can see from some
of my other courses, I love drawing flowers. As you can see from
other courses. And I love mixing colors. Sometimes just a little bit, sometimes just enough,
sometimes lots of colors. I'm going to write here. Creative play. That's how I love to call
my art, my Creative Time. Creative play. Some of the key words I like
to put in bolded letters. Other times it might
not be a keyword, but you'll notice actually, I'm going to fill up a little
bit of space up there. Normally, I would just
continue it like that, but I wanted to make sure I
have enough space to add in all those fun past-time
pleasures I have. I don't want to leave too
many open spaces on my paper. Often I like to write down how these
pleasures make me feel. I feel freedom when I know that. I don't have to have
any specific project or result in mind. And definitely I feel happiness. I feel joy. Just another way
to say happiness. I guess joy comes from within. I think one reason why
I love drawing so much is because it's one way I can express my feelings
without feeling any judgment. Something else that
I'd love to do is also sort of related to art. You could say, I love decorating my home
with beautiful things. I'm just going to make
a picture of a flower. Rose. I'm going to put it
in a pretty vase. When I have a little time. Since I work from home, I probably get distracted
from time to time. Doing some form of the
core was space in my home. Lately I've been so into my art, so I haven't done
so much of this, but I noticed that depending on what brings me the most joy and
inspiration at the time, what I usually fall back on. And I go through
different times and seasons getting colder outside. So I think I start
looking more at decor of my home rather than spending time
outdoors in nature, we end up being home a lot more during the
cold winter season. That's when I feel I need an extra touch of
beauty in my house. I might switch some
pillows around, which some flowers, some
colors to fit the season. Maybe I'll add some candles. However, that would
translate for you. The things you enjoy
doing. Write them down. Draw them with simple
little doodles. Decor to me somehow decor
means flowers and candles. And how does it make
me feel? I feel. Comfort. Brings me peace. When at my home is all
organized and tidy. It helps give me your
give me more clarity. Not loaded with stuff
all over the place. So all these are
amazing benefits to getting my place a little bit better organized or decorated. And that's one of my
free time pleasures. When other thing I love making. Can you guess what
I'm going to draw? See if anybody can guess
if anybody has the same. That'll be interesting what
past-time pleasures are, because this is not going to be fitting to everybody at all. That's why I encourage you to personalize
this for yourself. This I'm just sharing with you some of mine as an example. But I don't want you
to draw this exactly like me because this is
not you, this is me. That's the most important thing is you need to ask yourself, what is special to you? I'm going to pretend
this is a y. And then though it's
not exactly how scissors should be if they're
open here and closed here. A scissor would
be more this way. But I'm just going
to add in here. I keep that like that and DIY, fun. Sometimes I do it alone. Sometimes I do it
with my daughter. I tried to use things
that I have at home, everyday objects or things
that I am not using anymore, maybe old boxes and I
personalize and give us a gift. Diy projects. Some of my projects I
could even draw here. I'm going to paint. My latest projects or inspirations
would be my paint box. I have been enjoying
painting on rocks. I will include my little
rock collection here. Sometimes I draw pictures on it, sometimes I write on it. Of course, DRY projects always need some paper or
some sort of fabric. Some pencils, markers, maybe a role of washi tape
with a little decoration. Anything that you would like
to add up to your picture. And I tried to fill up
the spots and have fun. And most of the time, I use DALYs to either
decorate my home, to give away as a gift. So I'm going to draw
here a little gift box. Find so much joy in creating something that I can
give inferior to others. So I really think that's one of my hobbies that I most enjoy. Definitely don't want to
forget about that one. I will add a little bow, maybe a little tag. Something fun there to add. Another one. I really enjoy doing. Sometimes, sometimes
with my daughter, sometimes we even do
this as a family. My husband comes in AS
and it's loads of fun. We make it our whole
family activity. And that is baking. So either I make
pies, at the moment, we have some apples
from our trees, so I'm making apple pie. Going to decorate
my bowl for fun. Adding some DO wooden spoon
in a few ingredients here. So fill up your paper with that. You'd like maybe you prefer savory foods so you could draw something that you
enjoy cooking. I really have fun with baking, Whether it's savory or sweet. I love coming up with
different inventions. I'm not so good at
following recipes because I didn't know
for some reason, they don't turn out right
when I follow recipe. So that's okay. I go by inspiration instead. None of my cookies
will ever be the same. I'm trying to write baking. I love cooking. But I would say
cooking is kind of like part of my daily schedule. I need to cook for my family, whereas baking is more the
time I want to have fun. And exciting part for me is inventing recipes. I guess that's where most
creativity comes in. To me. It feels new and exciting. Some reason I don't
like making things. Twice. Diy helped me feel calm. I feel creative. Actually also in baking kind
of calms me and relaxes me. I think we all have our
little free time pleasures that helps us to relax. I'm going to write that. In all these haunt me to relax. Going to make it
in a little box. A little flag helps me to relax. Thank we filled up
our page quite well. You can go through your page, look look around it and what else do you feel led
to draw over added. I can't think of any other
big time, past-time things, but you can add little dots. Little stars would
make you happy. And maybe something for fun that would be meaningful to
what you've drawn or written. Anyway, I think they
filled it up quite well. These are just some of
the free time pleasures that I enjoy. I hope that you were
able to do this for you, personalize it to you and
filled up your whole paper. And don't worry
if it's something that is that you don't
get to very often, that's okay because
whatever you express, whatever you put on paper, whatever you enjoy and you talk about and you wish
for and you dream. More of that will come to you. Now that we're done sketching, we can go ahead and ink it. Let's see how it goes. Just feel free to do with
what feels good for you at, right at the moment. If you wanted to leave
pencil, that's okay too. If you want to add in some watercolor or
some color pencil, choose the medium that you're
most comfortable with. Maybe that you enjoy the most or that you feel the best at. But also don't be fearful
to try something new. Or maybe to challenge
yourself a little bit in something that your little
more uncomfortable with. I think I want to
try once to get to the point where I don't even have to sketch with pencil. That is a little scary
for me right now. I'm waiting for the time that I feel I really
want to do it. Wanted to challenge myself. This is what I'm trying to do
with this self-care ritual, little routine or
little project. It. There's nothing in
here that you have to do that you feel you must do. You do it because you want to. Because it lights you
up. It brings you joy. I think I've spent a lot
of my life doing things because I thought other people
were expecting it of me. I didn't even take the time
to make a little page like this draw or journal
just for the fun of it. There wasn't time wasn't
going to make money. And I felt it was
a waste of time. Now I realize, on the contrary, because by taking
the time for me, by taking this time
for self-care, doing some of these
things that I love to do. I'm so much better equipped in my work and to do things
for others. Somehow. Even though I don't
understand it. Somehow the inspiration
comes, the ideas come. The balance comes from
doing the important things. First, feeding yourself
With play, with pleasures. Treats that you enjoy. Taking time to dream, to wish. That is so important for not
only your mental health, that even your physical health. Since you do the inking, you'll notice that
you can think you can listen to something, can reflect on what
you're drawing. Maybe you'll feel like
changing or adding something on your page
and that is okay. Just let it all be, be sensitive to your needs. At the moment. Your wants and desires. Maybe you'll have
another idea spark. Like, Oh, I want to add
this and that's okay. You just take your pencil, erase it, erase one
of these things. If something is more important that you
had forgotten before? Usually I feel that whatever I've put on
paper at the time, right, I don't have to analyze
it so much or question it. Because if I put it on paper
without even thinking, means my heart
wanted it that way. I know as an artist it's so easy to fall into the trap
of perfectionism. Everything to be just
right, go just right. That's what I find so relaxing and empowering in
these exercises. And that's why I've been
doing this for my self-care. Because I realized that
putting something down on paper with no plan whatsoever, slotting it, be
all of it is okay. And I write everything, I draw, everything I doodle, just
trusting the processes. After this part, I like
to just give a quick erasing for all my lines, my pencil lines, just
to have a clean look. Now this part using
markers is also another creative
part of the process. I challenge myself with
just two colors at a time. I'm going to color inside
some of the bolded text. As you know, as we've done
with our other pages, I like to mix them colors a little bit
all over the place. So I have some on the top. I'm going to put
some on the side. I might color in
the Apple heart. Sometimes I do the texts. Other times I color in
some of the pictures. I'm not going to add
color to everything. As you know, I like just some
white blank free spaces. That gives us that
breathing space. Maybe some scissor handles. I might even do the ribbon. Any markers would work here. I'm going to give them at
all pattern to my box. If you wanted to add a little bit more
shading, you could do. I could add just little shadings like that on your pictures. Some little lines. I'm sure you can come up with how you want
to make it for you. Maybe I'll make my
cat's little patterns. That way I'm not
always using black. It's what I like about using another color helps things to stand out a
little bit better. I need to do my pencil here. Maybe the box of paints. I might even trace over this word to make
it a little bit bolder. To add in a little more color. Once you finish your paper, just sit back and enjoy it.
Enjoy.
7. Favorite Foods: We're going to doodle and journal about foods
that we enjoy. I'm going to start again
with my title down here. To make a box. I kind of like having the same consistency
for each of my pages. The rest varies. The rest I leave up to
imagination and creativity, but at least where the title
is placed and my date, I keep the same foods I enjoy, like mixing up my text
a little bit with print and some cursive. Then I'll close the
box wherever I see that my text has ended. You can go ahead and write
your date right here. I might even add a little def
my owes to make it a food. The things that I reflect on that I might think
about is I do this page. What am I favorite foods or what foods make me
feel really good. I think the foods I enjoy the most are the ones that
make me feel good. I'm going to start
off with that. I might just turn my
page here, right? Just fact, what
makes me feel good? What makes me feel great? Since I kind of like one to
fill up this whole spot here. If you do what you like, you personalize it to you, that will almost
probably give you enough to doodle on
your whole page. But I'm going to have fun. I might draw me
as best as I can. You can make just a stick
figure if you prefer. Don't worry about
making it too fancy. I'm just enjoying this process. I love challenging myself
with little faces, especially drawing
myself, which is not something I do very often. I'm going to draw
just part of my body because the part that
makes me feel good is probably my eyes looking at
the yummy food in my mouth, tasting the yummy food, my nose smelling the yummy food. I might even add
a little tongue. How are those taste buds? I'll draw the rest of my hair, something like that. And I'm not going to
draw the whole body. I might just draw the
top because next I probably feel good
food in my tummy. That's where all the
food gets digested. So my time, he's feeling good. If I'm eating good food
include I think if my tongue, he says So then the rest
of my body agrees as well. Just place my arms there, maybe drop a little
bit of pants. I feel good here. You know what, I just realized? I totally spaced out. I think my mind was working
faster than my hand here. Maybe you had noticed already. I'm going to start here. I skipped a whole word. It's okay if there's a mistake, but thankfully I caught it
when it was still with pencil. What makes I forgot
the word makes. What makes me. I think the foods I enjoy
is what makes me feel good. Here I'll write
good because it's a little shorter than great. Measure it out like this first before I put in the details. Then how would it
make me feel good? I can add maybe good digestion. And ask yourself, how does
it make you feel good? Another thing for me is, I noticed when I eat
the right foods, I don't have any acne. I think we're all different, but it all plays
an important part. No acne for me is
a big thing too, because then I feel more
confident about myself. I don't really
feel good and body I feel good about my face, I feel good about my
looks. More beautiful. In other way, I feel energized
as you do your page. So really take the
time to ask yourself, how does it make you feel? I think that's a
very important step and sometimes something, very often actually something
that we miss out on. Also, eating the right
foods makes me feel good. It makes me feel energized. And I seem to have more
clarity that a lot of things and also know migraines. I'm very sensitive. I guess my gut is
very sensitive, so it affects me in those ways. I feel weak or I feel
sluggish or I get migraines. So it makes a big difference. Maybe some of you are
not as sensitive, but that's why foods
is a big deal for me. Now, I might start drawing
some of my favorite foods. Some of those foods that
help me feel great. Ladies, that I've
just started eating actually is sweet potato. I used to eat lots of potato, but I've kind of moved
onto sweet potato. And I realized how
much I enjoy it. I guess I would put this
in the carbohydrate. Family. Carbohydrates. I'm not sure if that's correct. Forgive my spelling
or lack thereof. I'm sorry. I'm French after all. Another thing, I've been
eating lots of lady. I probably have them
every day in my saddened. And I have lots of
good olive oil, not a bottle of wine. Wine can be healthy
too, don't worry. This is olive oil onto
this right, in oil. This would be
considered good fats. I might not see the results
in eating this right away. Good carbohydrates, good
fats that I enjoy the taste. One of my very favorite
vegetables is can you guess? Mercado? Again, lots of good,
healthy fats there. So I'm going to make
one in the back and when in the front. You probably don't want to draw all the same vegetables are same foods as I am here. This is really about you, but I'm just giving
you some examples. I'm not going to make them up, so I'm just sharing
with you some of my top foods that I enjoy. Kind of like my thinking
process as I go along, which is skinned really
part of self-care. You're asking yourself,
what is it you enjoy? What is it that
makes you feel good? And then we're taking it further and doodling it, drawing it out. I'm going to make little
shade a little bit. This is fun part. Just what I feel that
to-do lead to draw. Having fun with. It looks a little bit
more like an avocado. And I'm going to write
this one really be because this is a big
one part of my diet. It is one of my favorite ones. I might write down some
of the ways I eat it. I eat it as a dip
with some crackers. I eat it as a dessert. I loved to experiment
with some of these healthy foods. I eat it. Tacos in a salad. I just loved to experiment. I might write. Creamy.
Can ask yourself, why do you like it?
Why do I like it? It's creamy and it's yummy. Some reason I just
loved the consistency, the texture, and the taste too. Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy. Actually, I've space there. So dig deeper. Remember, ask yourself
for why you enjoy it, how does it make you feel? All those things are
things that you can add to your doodles. Another thing I've been enjoying
lately are some muffins. So I've been experimenting with trying out no grains diet because I've had some issues with my digestion, with my gut. So I've been coming up
with doing some research, finding flowers that don't contain grains,
that contain seeds. I'm going to write muffins. Actually, that's my,
one of my staple foods. I make sweet muffins
for breakfast, and I make some savory
ones for lunch or dinner. And that has been a treat. I also make tortillas, cookies. I still have to enjoy all
those those delicious foods. I would consider them
comfort foods too. These are my treats
or tortillas. Maybe they take a little
longer to prepare to rollout. One of my favorites
being French, you might guess, is cheese. Yogurt. I'm drawing a
little yogurt with a spoon. So that's my breakfast
usually is a muffin. The yogurt. Cheeses I eat have
been sheep cheese, blue cheese, goat cheese. Right here, cheese, yogurt. I will just write
goat slash sheep. What else have I been enjoying? Seeds. Another one of my staples. I add it to my salad, I add it to my muffins. I've been eating. Some Brazil nuts,
almonds, some hazelnuts. These have been my favorites. And I think my very
favorite is pistachios. Draw some little seeds, some Chia seeds, sesame seeds. I will write nuts. This is one of my
protein sources. Seeds and nuts. I love a good piece. Salman. This is one of my favorites. Mushrooms, salmon, it shoots off
and I eat them together. I'm not going to forget berries. I'm only drawing some
of my favorite foods. I couldn't put it all
down here. Fit it all. I mean, anyway, you
probably get the idea now. If you ask yourself, what
makes you feel good? How does it make you feel? What are your favorites? What are some of
those comfort foods? What are special treats? Once you've done
that, you can go ahead and trace or you can use your markers if you
prefer to start with that and add a
little bit of color. I might add a little
bit to my titles. Again, as we've done before. You know that I like
to add some color to my bolded titles because there's one reason why I made them
bold in the first place. Nuts as well. I wonder how
well-versed is my diet. If I just think
about what's here, I didn't think
about that before, but I think that's something
important after you do your page is to reflect on it
and think about it as well. Because you'll probably
learn a lot more. Maybe you won't be thinking
about how you drew it, what you drew, but more like, why did you draw them? I'm going to add a
little bit of green. You can always go
ahead and do some of your pictures if you want to
add in a little bit color, especially those that are
green, if it's appropriate. What makes me feel good? So again, with the coloring, I like to add a little bit of both colors kind of
scattered around my page. I wanted a little bit
of green down here, even though my berries
will not be green. I chose green first place
because I thought that foods there was quite a lot of natural foods that are green, but I ended up not
even drawing any. Besides the avocado. Maybe I will add in, so don't, don't, don't feel bad to add
in something afterwards. I might add in salad leaf here. Or cabbage has been one
of my favorites too. And then I can add a little bit more green that if I want. Another one of my
favorites, It's Broccoli. See if I could draw
broccoli here, maybe broker the plant head. I'll erase the pencil
underneath it. That way I have a little bit
more green to work with. It's not so much the colors, but it's also for the food
because I love broccoli. We eat a lot of it in
our family because it's one of my son's
favorite vegetables too. I could cut these little apples. I could write over
the word clarity. Such a weird thing, but how food has such an effect
on your mood, your brain. I've heard that your gut
is like your second brain. No wonder it makes sense that I have been feeling more clarity and more focus as
I've been eating the right foods
that my body needs. Maybe color in the rows. Trace over the rows just for a little bit of orange
in color to the girl. Alright, now that you're
done with your markers, you can go ahead
and do the inking. Just going to start from
the left, top, left. Follow the lines that you want. Garcia is a lot of sketch lines. So I might not follow
them all to T. Again. And see what is right for you. What's your happiest
with which you're most comfortable if you're drawing. And remember to do this
in your own style. You could do a stick
figure doodle. You could make a realistic,
fancy girl here. It's really for you to
work at your skill level. That's the wonderful
thing about this project. It's where your self-care, it's for you after all. So go with what feels
right for you at the time. I consider this part
of my self-care. That's what I want to
encourage you with today. Most of all. I thinking about the things
that make you feel good and body will help light you up. In return will help you bring joy and cheer to someone else. So it's so important
that you feel good in your body emotionally. So that's why I've
included this one. Foods I enjoy. Because if I enjoy my food, whatever you put into your body is what
you'll get out of it. What I feed my body would I
put into it is what I become. So I've worked very hard lately to figure out
what works for me, what foods, what diets in the time of the
day I should eat. And paying attention to each of those things is really
a part of self-care. Sometimes I don't
even know how to express it, but I feel, I feel happy, I feel inspired. I feel that I've really taken the time for me to be me fully. This one is a great way to also maybe be a little
reminder to you. I know it is for me. Little reminder of what I know works well for me in my diet to be
encouraged to stick it. Of course, I let myself
have those special treats once in awhile that are
Arabi not so healthy, but that's part of
enjoying life as well. But if I know that like
the rest of the week, the whole week, I've
taken care of myself. I've eaten the right foods, then I let myself I treat myself to something
special on the weekend. I find that going
extreme in one way or the other is not healthy
and not good either. Because I've been there,
I've done that as well. Either I didn't feel
good about myself. I just felt that I
was missing out on all the yummy stuff because it didn't make me
feel good emotionally. It actually didn't really
help me physically either. I've let loose a little
bit and I'm told myself I'm going to enjoy
some of these foods. I'm born to find
healthy alternatives. That's another wonderful thing about taking care of
your eating your diet, paying attention to that. Paying attention to your
body because you just have to figure out what foods
sit well with you. For example, no gluten is just a recent thing
that I've been trying out to see if it helps with my migraines or my
digestion or my acne. And so far it's been working. Same with no lectins. I'm super grateful for that. I'm going to stick with it
for as long as I feel good. I don't feel like
I'm missing out on stuff because I still get some of my favorite foods. All right, We're
nearly done just adding our little
title box here. I think that's it
for our inking. Not going to go ahead and
just erase all my pencil. Of course, see what
you have the time for. If you just have time to
sketch it with pencil. Well, that's a good
step already and I really encourage you
to stick with that. Maybe you don't have
time to ink it as well. That could always come
at a later date as well. Don't feel like you have
to do everything at once seating because
you don't want to, if I had any stress or pressure, would be counterproductive
because this is supposed to be fun, relaxing time. If you want, after
you can go ahead and add a little bit of
shading with your pencil, or even just the colored pencil. I could go ahead
and pick the same green and orange and add a
little bit of shading for fun. I'm happy with the end result. I hope that you are too
with yours. Personally. I like asking myself some
questions or journal prompts as it helps me delve
a little deeper and listen to my
inner expression. It's if you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and journal your thoughts
after each question, which is sit back and reflect. I've also included
a file that you can download if you prefer
doing so at a later time. Enjoy.
8. Outfits: We will today be taking
a new page of our book, which we've already started
in the last few classes. You will need your pencil, eraser and pen. For today. We're going to go ahead as before and start our little
box for our next title. So like before, we're not going all the way to the
end and closing the box yet until we
finished writing our text. This one is called
favorite outfits. This is a special girly one. Of course. I've recently just realize that thinking about my clothes and my outfits is a big
part of self-care. Here we will leave
space for the date, the day, the month,
and the year. Now we're ready to
reflect and to think about our feelings,
our emotions. What makes us happy,
what feels good, what feels right
for us regarding our outfits and our
clothes and our wardrobe. So just take a moment
as much time as you need to stop and think. Maybe you have something that
comes to mind right away. Either way, just
begin sketching, doodling on your page. I'm going to draw the first
outfits that comes to mind. For me. It's for comfort. It's for looks, the color. I'm going to draw
the stress that I got myself not too long ago. Got long sleeves, kind
of puffy sleeves. Goes in towards the ends of the arms and
have coffee here. And I love to wear it. A big beige belt. As you draw, you can think about also what fits nice
with your style, what matches your style? I like to think about what
makes me feel confident. Not just the look or the style, but what actually makes
me feel really good. It's like my go-to outfit. It's got little black
polka dots all over it. So I'm going to be sure to draw those details because
it's something, again that I love. I love polka dots. In reflecting on that, thinking about it,
wishing are dreaming. You're actually finding things out that maybe you
never noticed before. We won't know until we take the time to ask them ourselves. That's what I love about
this little ritual of this little exercise. I didn't know that
before about myself. How much I love polka dots. I loved the color white
and black together. So I'm going to start also
kind of writing or doodling. Lately I've been more into
long dresses and skirts. I'm just going to
write long dress. I don't know if it comes
with age or I don't know, but I've just much more calm, comfortable in long
skirts, long dresses. I also realized that
I like thick belts, so I'm going to
write that down too. You can write it
however you wish. Whatever size, font, or
anywhere on your page. Also, what I really
like wearing with it is a little black vest. I'm going to go ahead
and draw that as well. This is probably my go-to. It'll third piece. I like styling my things with in three
pieces of clothing, either pants or a shirt. Then either an extra
belt or little vest. So again, this one
has puffy sleeves. So there again, I'm noticing in my wardrobe because of what I have and what I usually go to. I like the puffy sleeves. So I might write a color like a black fast
because it matches with a lot of items in my closet. Black vest. I'm going to write
maybe puffy sleeves because already the
two things I've drawn have puffy sleeves. So there's a little pattern
I'm seeing for myself. Then it's even great
idea when you go shopping to kind
of remind yourself about your favorite outfits. Because then you won't just shop and buy new outfit
or a piece of outfit that doesn't fit
with the rest of your 4D world or with
something that's not you. That's been really
interesting for me. To ask myself, what is it
about this item that I love? My to also write the color here, white, the color of the dress, but it's also the
color of many items, many things in my closet that
I go to, the white shirt, even though waitlist
white t-shirts, something that's
fairly new is Hats. I'm going to include that in. I always wear hats in winter, but that was the only
season I would wear hats. And my husband was
getting rid of a few of his his hats and he asked
me if I wanted to try them. I tried them on and
actually I loved them. And he said they
suited me perf agree. So I ended up keeping them
and now I'm wearing them. It's the season of
autumn, so it's perfect. It's not too hot, not too cold for
these sort of hex. So I have a couple that
I'm really happy for that. Just those little fun edition, So I think can make a
really nice different BD, so much fun, something I'm really enjoying at the
moment, or the VNet. Just plain colored t-shirts sets match with so many things. But I loved the Phoenix
for some reason. Then I can add a
little jewelry on top. If I will write maybe the next. Let me get the divvy up here. I like it in my shirt, t-shirts and also in my
dresses or, or even sweaters. Something, again, that my usual gotos are
pants with a high waist. Whether there'll be genes
or trousers or other pants. I really like the high waist. In this way. High wasted. It's got a little
curve, but that's okay. This is more like
a pair of jeans. I might include
another pair of pants. Again, I like like
the highways depends. Also liked more
loose fitting pants. Lose maybe even a little
bit wide legged kind of trousers, a little bit more dressed. See, I love that. I can either add a belt
to wear them either with Taney's or with our
width little booties. I'm not going to forget
to draw my little white. Instead I wear with everything. Again, don't worry about the
art if it's not coming out exactly the way
your outfits Look. Mine hurt probably
really far from that. I'm just enjoying. I'm just
enjoying thinking about it. It's so relaxing. I asked myself as I'm drawing, what do I love about them? I think my thing
that I love most about these is that they go with everything they can
go with address is skirt, pants, even dress. The clothes are just the
convenience of them. I can even go ahead
and write that. Or comforts. Can even put it in a box
for something different. Here I'm going to write wide because that's what
makes these special. I can even make a little arrow wide legged and
others thing lately that I've been
playing around with these different bags and almost matching my bags
with my outfits. I don't have many handbags, but I just I'm letting
myself play with the ones that I do have rather than always
using the same one. I'm going to draw one of my favorites is that
little black bag. Very simple shape. It has a nice big
button and it's kind of with different diamond shape. It's not a brand
name or anything. And it has a little
chain, black and gold. I love how it's styles and fits nicely with the rest of
my clothes and outfits, whether it's casual, I can
wear it with a pair of jeans. I can wear it with a
pair of slacks, white, sure to middle vast dresses
up my outfit like the chain. So I'm going to write that. I like that it's small
because I'm small, so I'm not going to wear
something huge and bake. Another little thing is I have been into little necklaces, very simple, minimalistic ones. I could write here, maybe neck, this little arrow for fun. I'm going to add here
maybe a little belt. I like wearing belts
with almost everything. Maybe I could end the belt here. Sometimes they'll
have a pattern, sometimes just playing,
I love wearing browns. I'm going to fill up the space with the rest of things that I enjoy that suit me
that are comfortable. I also liked the
color red legally. People say that it looks
really good on me. I'm writing it quite big, but I just want to fill up
some of the space here. I love wearing scarves
with my hat's too. I love yellows. It's just a color
that makes me happy. I think I'd wear it no
matter what season. I have a yellow shirt
for the summer. I haven't middle yellow vest. I have a yellow card again. And wearing it
always makes me feel really joyful and cheery. I didn't get to draw
my other shoes. I already like little
booties pointy. With a medium, he'll be out, just draw it like this. With a pointy TO
and a little heel. These are my favorite shoes
in winter and autumn. It's a perfect, they're
not even, even 20. All right, I think
that's about it. Anyway. Just let yourself imagine dream. Think about all the ways that you'd like to style
your clothes. What clothes you'd
like to style? What makes you express
yourself with your clothes? What makes you feel
happy, positive? What helps you feel really
confident in your outfits? So I think that's my go-to outfits is the ones that I feel really good and confident. Now that you've
finished sketching, you can take your pen
and start thinking. Again, this process is calming, soothing, also very relaxing. Also gives you even
more time to think and reflect on those
things that you love. Very important
part of self-care. Just remember to add those
extra special little details that makes it special
and meaningful for you. Just because something
is in trend or install right now
might not mean that it's always something that you love or have love
and enjoyed wearing. Some of the ways
that I have noticed. Things that I feel
really good in is when it's not just fashion. Because fashions comes
and goes so, so fast. My wardrobe usually I keep
it for many, many years. I realized that the
clothes that come and go or not really my favorites, I'm sure I left out
a lot of things, but I was just trying to think. Okay. When I go to my closet, what is it that I look
for first or if I know that I'm going
to go out and I don't have much time to get dressed. What is the outfit that I wear the most or that
I enjoy wearing? And I realize that
it's either it's address or its
genes and nice pair of jeans and either a
red shirt that brings out a little bit of
color or a white t-shirt and nice spice it up
with a fist or a belt. I always feel good in that. It doesn't take so
much planning or effort toward trying it
on taking it off again. Take as much time as you need to or as little time
as you need to. Feel free to pause
the video if you need more time or just go
at your own pace, you might draw very
different things than me and that's what
I want you to do. I want you to dig in deep, deep, ask yourself those questions to help personalize
it for just you. Some of the other pages
that we worked on, we we wrote some of our
feelings or emotions related to either the foods
are the things we'd love, things we're grateful
for all that. This one, I guess it shows
you another aspect of it. You don't always have
to include that it's really what you feel is
right for you at the moment. I knew that my favorite outfits just make me feel
good and confident. Those are the top
of my list exist. Of course I understand us women. One day we might feel
good in one outfit and the next day a totally
doesn't sit right with us, fit right on us. And that's because we're
loaded with hormones and other things that really makes a difference
one day to the next. That's part of how we are, how we are created,
how we're made. Once I understood that, I accepted the fact that okay, today is not what
I'm going to wear even though yesterday
I felt amazing in it. And I've been playing
around lately with my wardrobe for two reasons. One is that I think I
have too many clothes. I don't wear a lot
of the clothes that I have in my cupboard. I wanted to share some, either it gives them to my
daughter or somebody else who needs bringing them to
a secondhand store. But before I do that, I'm making a point to just where everything
at least one day, I'm going through my wardrobe. One outfit at a time
or one shirt I paired up with a pair of
pants or skirt. And if I don't feel
really, really good, if I put it aside,
I put it in a bag. I always have a bag in my room, an extra bag for those things. And after a few months, like after the season, I go through that bag again. I asked myself why I
didn't feel good in it. I try it on again. Maybe I tried to pair it
with another outfits. And if it still doesn't
sit right with me or make me feel really
good and comfortable, rather uncomfortable
or good about myself, then I know that it's time to dispose of
it and give it away. But I've found that to
be very helpful for me. And that's why Lilia aware or something one day
and the next day, I wear something different. So it gives me time to
try everything that I own and see if I like it. I want to pass it
on and move it on, make space for something new. Another little
ritual that I have is every time I
get something new, I give something away. Otherwise, my cupboard my closet would be a little bit too full. It fits perfectly right now
I have the right amount of hangers that fit
nicely into my space. But if once they get too full, then I know I have to
let go of something. I always feel good
Letting go something it because I know that I've made room for
something even better. Remember to add
those little details that are special to you. Whether it's a shape or pattern
or color that you love. Because you'll notice that
it's not only with one item of clothing or one ITIL
in your wardrobe. You'll kind of see it in different ways, in
different objects. So chains, I kind of like it. I like it as jewelry. I like it is I even
like it as a belt. That's why I wrote chain. Then it will help
give you an idea. Next time you go shopping. Kind of like your go-to list. With these pages. What's really fun is to actually go through
them. Occasionally. Remind yourself of them, see how you've changed or grown. And it's not that it
was that it was bad, but it's just you change. It's all good. When you feel like drawing something,
go ahead and draw it. When you feel like writing it. You can write it. What I love about these, it'll attendees is that they're
so pretty and feminine. Maybe they don't even have
a little thing like that. They're not sporty,
which is the reason I can actually wear them
with so many outfits. I loved that they're just
plain and simple minded, not even have this front
part that will match it. I'm going to just end
here with my title box. This was so much fun. Clothing shops are
some of my favorite, so that means closer also
one of my favorite things. I think some of you could probably really
get into this one. You wanted to draw more outfits. And you could just draw
everything a little bit smaller or get
yourself a beaker page. Alright, now we can
go ahead and erase. All right, moving on, we can add some little
bit of further. I have here some markers. If you have a
little scrap paper, you can go ahead and try them. Here's a pink. And this as I know, is
it purple but not sure? It's a dark purple. These are not really
my go-to colors. You could also go
through your markers, see what else you have. Put them by sets because I like to put two colors
for my papers here. So I'm going to try some, another set and see if
these work better for me, for my outfits, I do like
red and I do like brown. So this is definitely
an option for me. Alright, I'll put these side. We can start adding a
little bit of color. I'm not going to
cover everything. I'm just going to
add a little bit. So I'm going to first of all
add my little polka dots. Instead of using the pen, I'm going to add with
the marker color, shading for my handbag. Go ahead and color everything and it would be a
little bit too dark. So I'm adding a few little
strokes like that. The shoes. Maybe the genes could be
a darker pair of jeans. I tried to put a little bit
of color all around the page. I'm going to frighten sum up. I'm going to use this thicker. So what's nice about
these spans as they have two sides when
it's a bit thicker, can use it for the
thicker writing that I don't have to
make so many strokes. Definitely want to
put it for the color. Maybe the VI. Even though
my shoes are not red, I'm just going to
have some fun here. Adding some color. Also. Go ahead and use
colored pencils or paint. Another form of coloring. Don't feel that you have to
stick with just markers. This is what I brush
for this class. But if you want to
add a little bit of shading with a pencil,
I love that too. I can even go ahead and do that. Now I still have my
pen, pencil here. If I wanted to add more
shading, certain parts, my pictures, some little crease, wrinkles in the dress to
make it look more realistic. This is also kind
of the fun play. Another thing that's really
fun in this exercises. You can also, even if it's
something that you don't own, you can still put
it in, include. It because maybe it's a wish, it's something that
you would really like. I do encourage you to
add it to your page. Sometimes we think about
what we dream about, actually putting
it down on paper, expressing it in some way, even just to ourselves helps
it to become a reality. So don't be afraid of that. For the longest time I made
myself a list for my clothes. I had a few needs at the time and I made sure
to write it down. I lost my list of few times, so I wrote it down again. In looking back on the list, I think I have most
things I'm missing, maybe a couple of things, but it took a while. I took like a year to
get all those things. But having it on paper, focusing on those things that
I really wanted and needed. Also not getting distracted
with other things. I think that's what really
helped having it on, just having it on paper
taught me not to go into the fast fashion side of things because I knew
what I needed and I went to I wanted to make sure that I had the money I needed
to get those things first. Even though it's so easy to get distracted and easily swayed by what looks great in the shop windows
or on other people, on social media and all that. But I've learned that I need to really check in with myself. Most of all, what looks
good on me, what fits me? What is me, not just what
is great on somebody else. I think that's what
I've noticed to be my biggest lesson in my
wardrobe and clothing. All right, Well, I
think we're done. I hope you enjoyed
this little session. Favorite outfits and that it was meaningful and a value
to you in some way.
Enjoy.
9. Aha moments: Welcome to the next part of our class on self-care doodling. So prepare your pencil and
eraser, and let's begin. We have our book. I like to fold mine
to the side so that I don't see the back
of the previous one. That way, I just have
a clean empty space, a clean empty page
to start with. And it just helps
me for more peace, more clarity in what I want
to add to my page for today, Today's topic is hot moments. Let's begin with our
title box down here. I don't know if you've
heard of this before. Aha moments, I think
it's becoming more on trend or something more used
in our vocabulary lately. At least I've heard it a lot
more recently than before. Or HA means kind
of like, I get it. I see. Now I understand. It's a little short word
for all those things. The way I like to see it
as maybe something that I've recently noticed or
learned about myself. Something that
keeps me in check, something that I love, that I didn't pay in two before, maybe something
that I've learned. There's something I want
to pay attention to. But anyway, so today,
our journal prompt, our doodle prompt for
self-care is a hard moments. Because I think
if we can express that either in words or
in pictures or some way, get it out on paper. It will be so much more meaningful for us
and also help us to listen to our hearts
and to pay attention to those aha moments.
Like a gratitude. If you start the habit of finding more things
that bring you joy, then those things will
bring you even more joy. And you'll find that the list, it will be in this just
because you began this ritual, this little habit of finding
the positives in your life. So it's kind of like this with the aha moments,
at least for me. And what I've experienced. And this is something
that I love to do. I have a little
journal book just for my aha moments because I'd
like to refer back to them. It's a special little memory and it's good reminders
for me as well. Anyway, let's get started. I will personalize it for me and my aha moments as of late. But just remember as
we go along this, this is for you to personalize it for you
and your situation. So please doodle your
own aha moments. Even as I show you how
I go ahead and do mine, you can either just watch it through and then do it
yourself or you can watch it through and do it for
yourself at the same time, but using your personalized
words and pictures. One of the big ones that
I can think of right away is related to my confidence, self-confidence
because that's an area that I fall short in many times. I'm writing this one really
nice, big and bolded. I haven't really planned
out my paper yet, so I'm hoping that
everything will fit on, but this is the fun part of it. You start with what comes right into your mind
after a little thought, reflection and
whatever comes first, you know, that it's what needed to come
first at the time. If you get to the
end, he's like, Oh no, I didn't fill up my page. I wanted to add this
and that and there was no space for it then
let that be okay. You can always go ahead and do a second page if you want to, or maybe this was what you
needed to know at the time, needed to remember at the time. I'm going to write here
the smaller words. One big aha moment
for me lately is realizing that confidence
comes from within. I think this is one of the biggest things for
me lately within me. Meaning that I don't have
to look to the right, to the left or to
look for others. Wait for others to
validate me or my work, what I do, or in the
decisions that I make. I just need to look within and see what my heart
wants me to do. And I've found that so amazingly works for
building my confidence. I'm going to maybe add
something like that. Maybe in a little speech bubble. Just trying to put that into, into some sort of sentence. So that's been a
huge aha moment and changing point in my life
and in my creativity. Because even just a year ago, I know that I was always
waiting for others opinions, confirmation of what I should
work on my next project, my next book, my next thing. But I realized that
it never brought me the same amount of
joy and satisfaction and fulfillment as if I I decided I checked within to
see what needed to come out. What was my heart telling
me that I wanted to do? Another big one is, I don't have to wait. I'm gonna write this
big word, bolded. I kind of like, right? Keywords, big or
a different font. But I still keep it very
simple, minimalistic. I do like adding a little
bit of art as well. So I might, I might
draw two clocks. An old-fashioned clock here. Maybe I'll do it at all. Mural clot. Again just to illustrate
the word weight. Little decor if I want. I don't have to wait. Quite to make this next
part into a box, right? For inspiration. I'm gonna make it maybe I
can edit all Banner ribbon. This is a big, another
big aha moment. So I don't have to wait
for inspiration to create. I create. I'm going to add some pencils, pens, all those fun things
I create with scissors. Maybe. I like to add in a
little bit of art. I might add a little arrow. It'll add the fun
stuff, the fun designs. I think you can be really creative with your
pictures and your doodles. I don't wait for
inspiration to create. I create. Then. I feel joy. This will be another little
painted inspiration. Little paintbrush,
paint palette. Maybe branches of paint,
paint brush here. Those fun things that
I love to doodle, I create, then I feel
joy, inspiration. I tried creative ideas. But this is something I've learned because if I
wait for inspiration, then it usually doesn't come, but inspiration comes as I do. It has been a big revelation to meet ID and it's helped me to even create more fun stuff and have so much
enjoyment and clay. I'm gonna draw me,
try to at least I'm just drawing me happy. Just peaceful. Reflecting as I'm doing now. I don't really know
how to draw myself. I think I can draw other
people better usually. It doesn't have to be perfect. It's just for fun. You can even draw stick
figures and that's what's nice about this
activity. Actually. It's for any age, any level of art that you're at. You can do this because
it's expressing yourself. If you can't draw a face, you can draw a shape, you can draw a circle. You can draw in any way. So this is another
part of my moment. I'm going to draw a heart here. I'm going to write. When I take time for self care. I take time for self-care. To me, self-care equals. So she's thinking,
she's reflecting, she's meditating, she's
calm, she's at peace. She's happy. So really to me, that's the biggest
part of self-care. When I take time for self-care,
which means self-love. Another little arrow. Maybe I'll make this little box fully present. It's better payable. That's an important word. So I'll make it
bigger to care for. I'm going to make it a
big number four, for fun. Take time for self-care,
which equals self-love. I'm more fully present
and better able to take to care for others. That's been a big, big aha moment because I used to think that self-care
was selfish, was thinking about myself. I felt guilty. I just didn't understand
why I needed it. Fine to put us in
another little box. But recently when I've been
taking this time for me, I realized that I'm so much
more balanced in my life, which actually gives more
and more peace, calm, and time to take care of others. I'm not always
feeling so rushed and nervous and uptight
and stressed out. And I'm feeding so much happier, which in turn makes
my family happier. Let me see. I don't want
to write a big word here. Focusing. You notice I'm not
even using a ruler because it's okay if things
aren't perfectly straight. Focusing on, you can always fix it up either
with your ink pen after or just is make it
intentional like here. My OH, is up in the
air and so is my you make an intentional it
doesn't have to be perfect. I think it kind of
has its own charm. Focus on the things. Another big aha moment. I'm going to maybe
make a little bag. I'm focusing on
the things I love. Maybe I'm going to add
all these little hearts. I love shopping, I
love new clothes. I didn't use to treat myself
to very often before. I thought it was
I didn't need it. I tried to learn to
live without it, but I realized that make
leaving myself open to those treats and those
things I love actually opens myself to more of those
things in my life. So I'm trying to bite that
focusing on the things I love. Greens, I'll write
brings in the bag. More. Again, bolded word. Kind of go back and forth
between cursive script. Just bolded or bubble letters just for variety a
little bit all over. Focusing on the things I didn't love brings more
of those things. Maybe a little arrow
going into something. Great to make it all. Be a little gift box. Brings more of
those things into. I will label the box by life. I've realized that paying
attention to those things, expressing those things, even doing this journal
self-care doodle book. I benefit from so many
more things in my life. I don't know if it's because
I'm more attentive to those things now that
they're coming to me. It is all the good
things that are love. I can fill this up
with loads of hearts. Two, these are overflowing. Focusing on the things I love. Brings more of those
things into my life. One last one, can I fit it in? I'm trying to make space for it. Creative play. What would you consider
creative play? I think for all of
us, it's different. Some loved to dance. Summed up to write, some love to make music or seeing my creative
play is my art. So that's what I'm
thinking of when I put here creative play is my greatest passion. I just made it here. Add some more Hearts. Wow, what a full-page. We have lots of aha
moments in our lives. Because when you start
thinking about it, being attentive to it,
you'll be like me. You will not want
to end your page. I could probably continue
on another page anyway. This was loads of fun and I hope that it was meaningful
to you as well. Whether it was something
related to self-love, self-care, or whatever
your heart is telling you. Now that we've finished
our pencil lines, you can go ahead and
use your ink pen. You can also use some markers
if you want to do that. First, I'm going to
just for variety, I'm going to start with a
marker and start just coloring or tracing over
some of the things that I want to add a
little bit of color to. Again, just use two colors
or more if you want. But I find that I
like using just two because then it
keeps things clear, minimalist and just it gives me some breathing
space as well. I like to add color, at least to some of my bolded, if not all, of my bolded words because I feel that
those are the key words. If they came out bold, I mean, they can come out in color as well using our alcohol markers, but truly you can
use any markers. And I think I'm going to make all these pretty little hearts. Lots of hearts on this page. Looks like aha moments. Green slots of
joy, lots of love. Let me see what the next
marker, next color is. This one is a little darker, which is great because I like the contrast between the light
color and a darker color. If your markers thick enough, you don't even have to write
bolded bubble letters. You just trace it
over once like this. Again, you just let yourself enjoy where
your hand is taking you. Where your hand wants you to
trace in a certain color. Maybe I'll trace
over the line here. The reason I add
color and also ink pen is because
after a while your pencil kind of loses its color
and it starts fading away. And I don't want these
pages to fade away. I want to keep them as souvenirs
for as long as possible. I think I added a little bit
of each color to the top, the center, and the bottom. So for maybe one more thing, I'm going to draw this arrow. I think this was one
of my favorite pages. As far as what to do to all. Made some pink cheeks. Maybe add a little color
here. This ribbon. All right, now once you're
done with your colors and you're happy with where you place the different colors. You can go ahead and ink
the rest of your lines. So that's what I'm going to do. Here's when you can
also decide if you want to either follow your lines
exactly as they were, or you can sort of switch
them out a little bit. Maybe I want to move this
over here, keep it centered. You decide at the time. I'm just going to also do my little doodle arts with the pen because
it's the thinnest, probably the easiest
to trace over with. I don't know if I'm going to
make all those curly lines. Then you trace over
all your words. At the same time, you can just reflect on what
you've written. I take time to look
over what I've written the first
time the sketching is actually thinking more about
what I'm going to sketch. What I'm sketching,
how I'm doing it, whereas tracing over it, I'm thinking, thinking
about what I sketched. I'm just thinking now
about this confidence. How big a deal it
has been for me to not wait for others opinions
of what I wanted to do, what I should do
because there was so many shoots and musts
and half to in my life. Most of the time it was
because of people pleasing. Now that I've learned how to ask myself many of
these questions, I've realized that
hits at the core, it's at the heart of self-care. To ask myself questions. Make the time for that. Ask what lights me up, but what brings me joy? Or asked myself, should
I be taking the song? Is it the right time? How do I feel about it? I've noticed that I'm so
much happier because of it. Often when I've done things
and said yes to things because of others who
wanted me to do it. I ended up feeling either guilty because just
frustrated in the end because I wasn't happy and I was feeling bad
that it was taking time from my family are from doing something else
that I really loved to do. Unless I'm not super piece
okay with doing something. I'm I'm learning to say no. I realize that saying no to something is saying
yes to something else. Usually saying yes to something. That's even better for me. Of course, there's a time
and a place for each thing. There's the balance. I take time to volunteer and
help others out because even though I don't have much time because there's
so many things in my life and my
business and my kids, my husband, home life. All those things take
so much time effort. But I know that taking time to also help a friend or volunteer. That is part of self-care because it helps
me to appreciate my life. Caring for others is
finding the balance. I know that if I've taken
good care of myself, I can take the time and make the time to take care of others. Song as I am focusing
on one thing at a time and making sure that I'm
not stressing out about it, but I feel peace if my gut is
telling me that it's okay, then I move ahead with it. As I'm writing this, I'm even
thinking of examples of how I've cultivated these
aha moments in my life. I can think of
countless examples. Just being reminded of those. Also very important. And it helps to personalize
things for you. Kind of reminds you about why
you made certain decisions. Maybe hopefully makes you feel good about those decisions. If you want, you can even
put on some soft music. Put down something to listen to. Just quietly. Listening to your heart
and enjoying this process. Relaxation. Making this time for yourself
is such a beautiful gift. And you won't be
disappointed by it. Every time I do one
of these pages, I just feel lifted in some ways. All the disappointments, all the difficulties have
been pushed to the side. Not that they're gone. Because there will always
be their feelings, even negative feelings.
They'll be there. They're not for us to fight. Something has made
our lives difficult. It's okay to feel bad, It's okay to feel sad. Fall as we move on from there. At some point because
we want to feel good. Again. I already finished
drawers, then. Go ahead and go to the
next video if you want. It's still taking your time. Pause this and take
as long as you need to find that some of
the pages that width, some of the pages, I'd take a little bit longer. Some pages for me come easier. Sometimes I have more ideas. Sometimes it just flows. Other times it's a little
bit more of a struggle, but I tell myself that it's
all part of the process. Just like we have some good days and some days are
a little rough. The same with creations, our creativity, our self-care. Part of the journey. We have some ups,
we have some downs, we have some hills, we have some valleys. I like to add little fun things to think of more things you would like to add as you
do your little line art. Feel free to do that. Now we're just ending
with our title. At some point you want to
add your date somewhere? I didn't leave space for it, but you can even add it to the little blank
spots like that. Anywhere that you
have some spaces. I hope that you'll start
noticing and paying attention to all those
aha moments in your life. Now I'm just going to
go through my page and erase all the pencil lines
that's not needed anymore. Just to have a cleaner luck. All right. Let's a little bit cleaner. Depending on the
marker you've used. As you can see, with
the alcohol markers, it doesn't erase the lines. The pencil, which
is why sometimes I wait before I color
something in, for example, this box, I'm going to color it now without all
the pencil lines, whereas here I kind
of made the mistake. Colored it first. That's okay. You can even go
ahead with your colors and add in anything
else that you would like to be filled
up with that color. Anything that you've forgotten. You can also go ahead and add a little
bit of shading with your pencil or with a color
pencil of your choice. I'm just, I just enjoy adding little nines
for shading me. It's relaxing. If I have the time for it, I'll go ahead and do that. If not, you can
already be finished. You can move it on
to your next class, the next session of this
self-care doodle journal. Like the pencil and it kind
of gives a bit of texture. I love the little
shading that it gives. Kind of brings my picture a
little bit more to the knife. It's not necessary, so just
do it if you enjoy it. If you want. All right. I think I'm happy
with it. I'm all done. And we filled up our next
page of aha moments. Personally, I like asking myself some questions
IS or journal prompts. As it helps me delve
a little deeper and listen to my inner expressions. If you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and journal your thoughts
after each question. Just sit back and reflect. I've also included
a file that you can download if you prefer
doing so at a later time. You choose what is
right for you. Enjoy.
10. Simple Abundance: Welcome to another class on
our self-care doodle journal. This is one of my favorites. It's called Simple Abundance, which will be kind of
like a gratitude page. You can call it
whatever you like. I just loved the word simple abundance because it reminds me that some of the
things that I really enjoy and find pleasure
in our simple. But they helped me feel. And I feel so rich when I take the time to think about what
I'm grateful for, what I'm thankful for. So give yourself a little title and you can add your
date right here. Now we're ready to
stop, to pause. Take some time to
unwind whether it's first thing in the morning
or last thing at night, takes some time for
self-care and reflection. Helps to reduce stress and anxiety from your busy day ahead or busy day that
you've had maybe some frustrations or
challenges, difficulties. And it's a wonderful way to explore and express your
feelings and emotions. And with our gratitudes, we're going to express
our positive emotions, which is a very important
key to self-care. I'm going to go through my day. I'm going to start
with my cup of coffee, my little morning ritual. I'm going to draw it here. Again, I encourage you to
personalize this for yourself. Don't copy exactly
what I'm doing, but take the time to reflect on what brings you joy and
gratitude in your life. I have some coffee in the morning and in
the afternoon I have my coffee and a little
piece of dark chocolate. That's one of my
pleasures as of late. Remember you don't have to
be a great artist for this. You don't have to have
any skill in art. And you can go ahead and write some words related
to your pictures, related to what you're thinking, what comes to mind, what's on your heart? Or you can just choose
to draw your picture or write something error. I'm just having fun filling
the page was some of both. I love my coffee,
my dark chocolate. What I also like to do is to
write some of my feelings. How do I feel, how
does it make me feel? I think coffee, chocolate
makes me feel cozy. Especially this time of year. It makes me feel comfort to comfort and cozy would
see if I can fit that in. Right comfort year. And here I could write cozy. Another thing I love, I'm going to draw here. And it'll camera. Remember this is just doodles, which means nothing
too fancy or artsy. Very simple lines, sketches. That's what I love
about doodles. I'm just drawing an
old fashioned camera. This is for my family. Moments. Family times. This is one of my
greatest pleasures. Think about what is a
pleasure to you at this time. What you enjoy the most in
your day and your week. Said to look forward to, I'm going to write
family moments to keep as beautiful souvenirs. That's where the
camera comes in. I might be mixing up
types of lettering. I'm going to fill in
it with some hearts. Grateful for good,
healthy food as well. I'm going to draw a big clade. My salad. Avocados, broccoli,
sweet potatoes, ******, draw some of those foods that you enjoy that make you feel really good. Yes, a nice piece of fish. Steamy right here. Good. Helped me feel healthier. Energised or energy Here, family moments to keep
his beautiful souvenirs. I feel love. I feel care. There's so many to pick from. It's hard to choose just a
few to fit on this page. Thanks. Something that's
been very special to me, they lead is my quiet moments. I'm going to draw, maybe watch. You can clog or something. And my morning ritual gives me this quiet space, this space to reflect. I'm going to write
here quiet time, whether I get to fit it in in the morning or maybe
in the evening. I feel peaceful. Because usually I take
the time in the morning. I realized that the more my
morning is my best time. Course. I don't spend the whole morning. Spent I love it when
I get up a little bit earlier than everybody else
because I have more time, peaceful moment, mornings
reserved for journal. This is where I started the habit of these
doodles as well. It's from my morning
that'll moments of quiet and sometimes I just write, sometimes I draw, sometimes I just reflect,
sometimes I read. I loved the variety. That's where created
ability loves to come and play because I'm dating myself fopen with
this quiet time, peaceful mornings reserved
for journal reflections. I'm going to write. Meditation's. Sometimes my
meditation's could be just taking time to
listen to my heart. Taking time to listen to a podcast or to read something inspirational,
something positive. One other thing that I've loved and enjoyed
so much lately is, which I kind of mentioned
about the four, which is my query def clay. My creative play comes
in all shapes and sizes, but my favorite creative play comes through art
and illustrations. So I'm going to write
here, are creative. I'd like to bold the words
that are key for me right now that have lots of meaning
value, Lots of feeling. I want to write some of the ways that it
makes me feels by creative play makes me feel joy. Definitely, lots of joy. Sometimes I like to fill up the baked spaces with the
big things and then I like to fill up all the
little extra spaces with some of the ways
it makes me feel. I'm going to draw something fun. Maybe balloons,
something playful. Maybe I'll write here
some of the feedings, no stress, pressure. What I love about
creative play is that I don't have to go buy
anybody's expectations. And that's why I called it play. It's not work to me when I
just follow my intuition, follow my heart, my heart guide me and
a creative journey. So sometimes it's
easy to think about. The things that you are
feeling grateful for. But then to put it into words, it's not always so easy, especially when you
want to put it in such a little space or when you want to really concise it. So I love the fact that
there's no stress or pressure. I love the fact
that it's creative. Oops, I made a mistake. Creative and I love the fact that it's just
playful, brings me joy. I use my art and no, maybe I will write
no expectations is when I have too many
expectations, I get frustrated. If I try to make it perfect
and I tried to do it for a specific project
or result and it just doesn't come out
right or it doesn't flow and it's not
playful anymore. Sometimes it goes along with
my morning journals and sometimes it's just throughout the day when I have a little
moment here and there. I love my home. I'm going to draw,
try to draw my house. It's got some beautiful charm. It's attached with
some other houses. I'm not going to draw
all the details. Let's just draw some of the
basic shapes of the house. You can take as much
time as you want, draw as many details or as
little details as you want. This is really up to you. It's a very tall house. I have a big garage door here. We even have shop
window here and adore. Here's a window
on a busy street. It's cut a little staircase
going into the shop. Alright, so because it's
just a doodle where going, doing a quick little
thing like that. I love my home. Maybe I could try
to tear this way. With your lettering sizes. Even with the lining of it. You can make it sideways, you can make it
horizontally, vertically. I'm going to write, so I'm
kind of a home person. Actually. I love
being out as well, but I do love our little trips. I'm going to also draw a
little card is like this. Trips out. I love being out in nature. I love that we have a garden. I love all my house plants. I'm not going to fit everything. I'm just going to draw some
of my height houseplants. Don't know the names
of all of them. I know I have a snake plant. Looks like this. I love beautiful flowers, vases. I have this little plants that are having babies all over. I have this plant that
has little knees. I really like all kinds
of plants actually, my office is full of them. Just makes me feel alive, makes me feel like I'm
out in nature really that nature is part of me and it's a sense of inspiration to me. So I'm going to write nature. I might write plants, flowers. Just like trips, act. Personalize this for you. How did it make you feel? Oh, here I'm going
to add cozy to my house and love
the coziness a bit warm so you can go ahead
and fill up your spaces. Grateful to have wonderful kids, to have an amazing husband. Feel healthy energy. A boy, I think this is
all I can fill that with. There's no more space otherwise. It would be so much more that I can't even fit
into these little cracks. I think to sum it
up in one sentence, I'm having the time of my life. I hope your page is
also filled up with beautiful gratitudes
and all the things you love and enjoy right
now at this time. And that it was fun and
meditative, relaxing. If you needed to unwind
and spend time for you. Now you can go ahead and take some markers or you can ink it. I'm going to maybe start by inking two colors that I like. Let's see how these
two love to get there. I'm going to start with
some of the bolded words. Because this is a
thick brush pen. I like to put some color into
different parts of my page. To use the thinner side. Trace over the word. When you can choose if you want. Some of the things
inked in black, or you could trace
them over with one of the colors that you have. Might trace over my word. Need some space in between. I'm going to use a thick part. You can even do a little
coloring if you want. Of course not. Everything is going to fit
exactly the right color. Because I've just
chosen two colors. You can add more color to yours. There's no right or
wrong way to do this. Let's whatever. Your heart. How are your hand
guides you to do enjoy the process, Enjoy
your creativity. That's the reason
for this course. The first place. Might make some little
pattern, spoke it off. As you know by now, I
love little polka dots. Add them to whenever I
can, wherever I can. Some other things
you can outline, some can just come in. Since I've been doing
my daily gratitude. So I've realized that becomes so much more
meaningful to me and definitely a big part of my self-care routine to
springs peace and joy. And it helps me be more
attentive my days. The things that I love and want to be reminded
of over and over again. It's whatever we focus on
is what we get more of. Alright, I'm going
to go ahead and do the rest with my black pen. We're not going for perfection. Infection would be maybe getting the proportions.
Just write. The point of this
exercise is not to get your art just strike even though in some ways it
improves your art, definitely because
you're learning to express yourself with your art. You're expressing yourself
through your art, but you're also benefiting
something so much greater, so much deeper, which is
your inner well-being. I taking this time for you, you realize that
you'll be better equipped to take care of others to do your
work, your job. Take your time with the kids. Don't see this as time wasted. Little bit hard for me to
start taking this time. Started out feeling guilty. Oh no, I'm taking too much time. Sometimes I get carried away, so I'm all worried. Oh no, I won't have
time to get to my job. I won't have time to finish
my projects and all that, but everything ends up
fitting in just fine. Most of all I end up feeding relaxed and balanced
and less stress than if I spent all
that time working. For some reason, it just works. That way for me. So try it out for you a little
time for this activity. And already, just the fact
that you're taking this course shows that self-care
is important to you. And so I really want to
congratulate you for that. That's already a great step. Let's take the time
to ask yourself, why would I do this? What would be the
benefits for me? I think we all have our
own personal answers. Taking the time to
ask yourself what it means for you is so
much more rewarding, personalized it for you. Thus, it's makes
such a difference in your own life rather than hearing it
from somebody else. So I suggest that you do
take that time for that. A little bit more gratefulness, little bit more of
the things that I love thinking about,
those things, reflecting those things all
need brings more happiness. Funny, you might even start
seeing certain patterns. For example, the
words cozy twice. Which makes me think that it's
something important to me. Yes, When I do think about it, I think that's one of
the reasons I love being home most of the time. And it has that
cozy feeling to it. By paying attention
to those things, you'll learn more
about yourself. Might just skip out
on all the shutters. It's too much too many details. We have our last little title. The last thing you want
to do is just take your eraser and clean up your page a little
bit from all the pencil. I don't know about you, but whenever I look at these inches, I'm just like it's just
something to look back on. The reminded of wonderful
souvenir, beautiful memories. Because as time
goes on we change. These are some of the things that we can remember in hold
onto for a long, long time. That's what I love about it. I'm like, wow, I took
the time for that. I made the time for that
even in the middle of my super busy hectic
schedule, busy day. And then I'm like, so
grateful that I did it. Here we have our simple
abundance gratitude page.
Enjoy.
11. Self care Rituals: Welcome to another page of
our self-care doodle journal. This time we're
going to be really focusing on our self-care because our title for this one is called self-care rituals. Go ahead and start
with your title. You could call it
self-care rituals. You could call it
self-care habits, self-care routine,
whatever you prefer, and how you would like
to personalize it for you to call them little rituals because it reminds
me that they are important. I encourage you to personalize
this once again for you. And what would be your
self-care rituals? I'm going to go ahead and
just give you examples of the ones that I do for me. Whether on a daily basis, some of them are
on a weekly basis, some could even be
on a monthly basis. That's for you to plan out
in organized for yourself. But here are just some ideas and maybe they will help to
spark some ideas for you. Go ahead and watch
this video and join me along and we
can do it together. Or you just watched
this video and then you can do it in your own time, personalizing it to you and your self-care needs.
To get started. I'm going to just put my pen on the paper sometimes I don't know where to start, how to start. I just close my eyes or I take a moment
to breathe deeply. I ask myself, what am
I self-care goals, what do I do each day that
made me feel cared for and loved or that made
me feel important and ideas start
popping up right away. Don't worry if they don't just give it a little
bit more time. Right now the first
thing that came to mind is my reading times. I don't get to this every day. I tried to whether
it's in the mornings, in the evenings, I just see what works better
with my schedule, with my kids schedule. I stay flexible to what
works for each day. So I'm going to just
doodle here of book and I might add reading. Something. Uplifting that is key for me. It needs to be fun. It needs to be
uplifting, inspiring, or something that sparks
me joy and lights me up. Especially first thing in the morning or last
thing at night, I went to end the
day or start my day with something positive,
something happy. Another very important
thing part of my self-care is taking
time to reflect, to think, meditate, relax. I write some of
these words down. I can't very well do some of these things
while multitasking. So it actually helps
me to just stop, stop anything else I'm
doing and focus on me. Take the time to
listen to my heart. What is my heart telling me
right now at this moment? Take time to meditate, reflect. You can use whatever
words fit you best. If you're religious person, maybe you would call
this time prayer. But I think it's just so
key for us all to have our own little ritual
that feels good to us, whatever that may be. Going to hear a little phone. Not because I feel that's
important to my self-care, but I do enjoy
listening to podcasts, especially while I cook lunch. That's my little podcast time. So great to draw the ear. It helps pass the time. It helps give me
ideas, inspiration. I'm going to write
some of the ways that I feel it's
self-care for me. For one, it's fun. I feel that I grow
and learn from them. I recognize some
progress in my life. Infarcts, inspiration. So don't be afraid
to write and doodle or journal some of
the feelings that you get from your self-care routine or your self-care rituals. Because I find that to be so, so wonderful to go back
to and refer to later. Draw a little flower
here to go along with this little speech bubble
or thought bubble, kind of a relaxing nature. Another thing I
definitely consider self-care is going on
a walk. And I tried. If you do that, whether
it's exercise walk or a peaceful nature walk. Just doodle something simple. When I go for a walk, I really see the difference
when I go and walk in nature. Somehow it just grounds me. It just gives me that
extra peace and calm. I'm going to draw in some grass, some sort of nature. One thing, just walking around town or walking to the shop, which I do anyways, but I tried to at
least go out in nature once a day, draw some leaves. If it's horrible weather, at least I go and step
out in the garden. I'm going to write here, walk. For me. The benefit is the walk. It's also the exercise because
that's part of self-care. I need that, especially when
I sit all day with my work. I'm going to write in nature, It's one thing to walk, but I think nature is an
important part of it for me. One of my biggest
things which is very related to this right now, what I'm doing, what you're
doing as well is journaling. That's one of my top
self-care rituals. Whether it's journaling with
words or with pictures. Maybe you like writing
poetry or songs, singing to me, that is all
part of innovative self-care. Turn off daily, which
is what I tried to do. Whether it's one of those. I can add a little sun
with a happy face. Sometimes I use prompts, sometimes I use my own ME
journals, sometimes I draw. I'm going to delve a little
bit more into that here. I'm going to journal feelings. Just add a pencil for fun. What else do I journal? My thoughts? I journal my grieves. Might think that you don't want to dwell on the negatives, but I've learned that taking
time for this one is so, so important as well. I wouldn't be here where I
am today if I didn't take the time to handle take care of my mental well-being by being willing
to dive into some of the difficult
experiences I've had in my past and my childhood
or as I've grown up. And it's really opened up so many more possibilities
and freedoms in my life. But first I had to be
willing to get there. Sometimes we have to be willing
to go to the other side, difficult side before we
can get to the happy side. Journal, my Julie's. I also take time
to ask questions. It's a new one for me because I didn't do this before and I didn't see how
important it was. I didn't feel probably
I didn't think that my opinion mattered. My feelings mattered. I journal on paper in
my little journal book with I'm going to
write, writing. Just because that's
part of my ritual. It's very varied because
I feel that I need, that, I need that in my life. If it was always the
same, it would be boring. I don't like that. Sometimes it's with art. Sometimes it's with poems. Yes, I like to write
poems as well. I'm not so great at it. And sometimes it's with audios. I might just record
a little audio when I feel the need to get something out or to record
something that's on my heart. Maybe a joyful
moment or difficult moment and just
express it somehow. That's what's the wonderful
thing about journal. Express. Express, all these things. Imagine holding all these
things in for years and years and years of
boy, I did that. I did that. Another part of self-care
is making sure that I take time for rest and sleep. I'm drawing here. Big pillow. If I haven't slept
so well at night, I tried to take a
rest during the day. One other thing is
I'm going to make just a fun little
speech bubble here. Another, the part of
my little ritual, positive half formations. This is something that I've
learned as well recently. Some of my usual ones. I can do this. So this is helping to
build up my confidence. Another one, I am enough. Another one that is
very humbling for me. I like the saying goes, tell her she's beautiful
and she will be beautiful. I've learned to actually
do that for myself. I'm going to fill it with some flower doodles because I love drawing flowers,
makes me happy. Usually when I create little
affirmations for myself, I fill it with flowers. Basically, affirmations are
just like you're proclaiming. You're telling
yourself something, you're giving yourself
a little message. Something that you
want to hold onto, something that you
want to believe. The way that I find those or figure out the ones
that I need the most is I asked myself
what is difficult for me or what is something that I really have a hard time with. And then something that
I'm negative about, especially related to
myself or my body. And I think of the opposite. Then I write that down and
that is my affirmation. I tell myself over and
over again until I believe it it's actually worked. I am so happy to
see that a lot of my negative feelings have actually dissipated
because of that. Especially related to my body. I had some issues or my health. I might add him here. It was it's too crowded. It's not so clear. I know, but I'll get it for some is related to my
confidence or lack, or was my lack of confidence. Maybe in my work, in my art skills, my creativity. I'm enough is related
to my, my emotions. I never thought I was
enough to be able to create courses or to do some of the things that I wanted
to do or try out. Now, I know that I'm enough. Beautiful, related to my
body, my physical anyway. So I encourage you to think of those positive
affirmations for yourself. If you haven't already, and try to add that into
your self-care ritual. But this is not, this class is not for telling you
what to do or not to do. Just sharing with you some
of the ideas that I do. Another one is this one can be really anything
or everything. It myself on a playful date. So what does this mean? It can mean something
different for everybody. So yes, we have dates with our husbands, are our partners. We have dates and times with
our friends, with our kids. And just recently I've learned to take myself
on a playful date, which means I think
of something that I would enjoy doing and
I do it all by myself. Whether it's taking a
bath or going shopping, going to the library. It could be anything that is meaningful to me at the time. That brings me joy. Sometimes it's just looking at my sketchbooks or getting ideas. I think just anything
that lights me up. I'm going to add another
little happy face. I tried to do this once a week. Sometimes I don't get to it, but I noticed that it really
does make a difference. It can be very varied, again, definitely part of
self-care because it's not always easy to find the
time or to make the time, but it is well-worth it. I think the last one that
I'm going to fit in here is related to my food. I've been paying more
attention to what I eat, maybe focusing on
healthier foods, avocado, some of
my favorite foods. And also in the way I presented. No, I love art and I love
making things look good. So I might add little potato
slices with an olive on top and a little piece of parsley on the side
just for the log. Because looks is half
of the enjoyment. It'd be ADD be truths and
slice it up like this with some cheese in
this in-between. I did another little leaf
of men onto a piece of fish and enjoy all
that goodness. So delicious or beautiful, maybe I'll call it beautiful
meals because maybe tasty. Tasty meals. Alright, well, that is some of
the things that I include in my self-care rituals. It's not all of it, but I
wouldn't have the space. Just put the ones
that come first. I have other ones like
taking care of my face, my hair, and my skin, my wardrobe, treating myself to something
special other so many, but I can't list them all here. But this is just a little
idea and it's something fun to think about
to reflect on. And also as a reminder for
you that you are important. And you can take that
time for just you. Moving on to add a little
bit of color and some ink, I'm going to choose two
colored markers again. Just going to put a
little bit of color. Oops, I didn't expect
this color to be so dark. We'll go with it. Must be important because it's going to
really stand out in this color and say I'm going
to use a thinner side. It is really thin. You can decide what
you want some color in or do the speech bubble here. I'm just going to trace over. I wrote and leaves up, leave the white in the middle. I can always go back to
that color after let me see what looks good
with this color. Since I liked her one. So I like using a
blend of a dark color and light color kind of
keeps the happy medium. Some contrast as well. And maybe color in some flowers. These ones and these. Just have fun, enjoy. Congruent to color
her pants, my pants. Again, that little
happy face here, although it's
supposed to be a sun. Let's see if we can add in a little bit more of this color. Maybe with this word here. Some of the words
here, maybe beautiful. All right, the rest of it, I'm just going to go ahead with my black ink pen and trace over. It might be wondering, you might be thinking that
this is taking a long time. And if so, don't worry, if you don't have the time for this, you can always do
this at another time. Sometimes I don't have time in the morning to get to my sketch. And then in the evening, I'll just enjoy another
few quiet moments putting some color and some ink. That's okay. Actually helps. Remind me of my little
reflection time and my little self-care time. Because the more you think about something or reflect on it, the more you'll remember and it will become a part of you. Don't be fearful to do that. And don't worry if
you have to cut your little class times
into one or two sessions. Oops, I'm spacing out pod cast. If you have space,
you can always fill in some of the blanks
with some other things, other feeling, words, feelings, or emotions that this time
gives you my pages pretty full but yours and you can even fill it
up more if you want. I think my journal
expressing all these things, I could probably have
a long list of things, benefits and feelings, ways
that it makes me feel. It might not be able to
fill it all on my paper. What I do sometimes
is take more time at another date to delve
deeper into my pages here. If you want to do that, then I encourage you to
go ahead and do that. Since working on
this Doodle page for my self-care rituals, I've been building
many more habits or routines for my self-care. Either extra pleasure,
full moments that make me really happy
and satisfied. Maybe other practices
that I never thought of doing before without benefit me. Healthcare. The way this came
about was checking in even just a few
small moments, DAD asking myself, what do I want to focus
on in my self-care today? Or what self-care ritual would make me feel
really good today. Another one of my favorite
questions is asking myself, how would that tie
into my self-care? Because it seems that the
more I think about it, the more ideas and
inspirations I get. Somehow related to my self-care, both physical and emotional
self-care and well-being. There are so many aspects
of self-care that it's hard to fit it all into
one page like this. If you're curious to find out some of the other ways
that I pay attention to my self-care or some other
little rituals and routines. You're welcome to check out
some of my other courses. I find that I need
lots of variety as well as I evolve and
grow into self-care. That's why it's been
so helpful for me to check in often
with how it's going. That way I can let go of the little habits that aren't
necessary for me anymore. Maybe I've grown from that area. And then it gives me more
room to focus on something else that is very important
for me at this time. My advice is to just
stay with the flow. Stay centered, live
in the moment. Sometimes my thoughts
go all over the place even as I trace or journal. Other times, they're just
my mind is just still and quiet. That's all. Okay. Self-care is being sensitive to what you
need at the time. This moment. That's what being present is. Present to enjoy the moment, the way that you need
to enjoy it right now. I'm not pushing yourself
in any way because of something that you feel
you have to do, you must do. Just do it because
it feels right. And because you want to. I'm enjoying this
piece is quiet. Relaxation. From my mind, even for my body. I'm just sitting here. I have my cup of tea
next to me. Right here. Almost finished. Come on, things at all.
Details are very tiny. So if you have even a
thinner pen, probably help. Almost done here. Okay, take your time. We're not in a rush. You are important. You have all the time in
the world to take care of yourself so that in turn you
can take care of others. I'd be very curious and I would love to see some of your pages. Please feel free
to share some of your projects with
me from this class. You can post them. We can all enjoy them together and get ideas and inspirations from each
other's creative works of art. I love also getting
ideas from others because they might
have done something, tried something that works for them that I would
not have thought of. What sharing our work for, for inspiration, for growth. We're nearing the end of
the self-care rituals page. I hope that this was a
helpful reminder to you. The things that you can
do for your SAP care. Maybe giving you other ideas of what you would like to put into your self-care habits, routines. Bei denen, just going to go
ahead and erase that pencils.
I've also included a file
that you can download if you prefer doing so at a
later time. Enjoy.
12. Let Go-Focus On: Here we are with
our blank sheet of paper for the next
part of our course. For today, I'm going
to draw a line. Feel free to use a
ruler to just draw a line straight
down in the middle. Because this time we're
going to divide up our page into two columns. I'm going to make my titles
up here for this one, just draw my straight line
for the top box at the title. Here, I'm going to
write I let go. Dot, dot, dot. And then I can close my box. For this one, I'm
going to write. Focus on. Feel free to use whatever
hand lettering type of font that you
like that suits you. There we have our two titles and the reason I'm
putting them on one page is because
sometimes they go together, but they don't have to. This is a little
ritual that I do for my morning journal time. And I find it so, so helpful to focus and pay attention to things that
I wanted to let go of. Things that I want to focus on. The feelings that I
want to let go of any negative feelings or
emotions or frustrations, negative thoughts, journal, write them or doodle
them on this side. And then once I've finished one, I kind of liked to move
on to the next one. I'm gonna let go of feeding this way or release
this negative thought. And then I want to
focus on this instead. Kind of gives another
option to feeling sad and negative or unhappy,
frustrated, stressed out. It kind of helps me
realize what I want to focus on instead what I want to pay attention to, give time for. And also it helps as a
little reminder, anyway, I love this little exercise and I found it so, so helpful. Tying along with my self-care. I'm going to go
ahead and give you a little ideas of what
it could look like. And maybe some from my past week and you can
go ahead and join me, but personalize it
to your situation, your feelings, your emotions, because that's what will make a huge difference
and that's the part that you'll find
very helpful and meaningful getting
to the other side. Alright, I'm going to just
think for a little minute. Maybe you have a lot going on and it just takes a little time to choose which one
you would like to put down or which
one comes first, or maybe how you want to
put it on your paper. I'm going to start by
writing my word here. I want to let go of
frustration over. I'm going to add a little
arrow there and I'm going to draw my computer. I've had all these
computer issues lately, especially because my
work is all on computer, it is very frustrating. I'm sure you can relate
if you've been there. It just slows me down, my programs just crash. And yes, it really tries my
patients computer problems. So I let go of the frustrations over
my computer problems. I'm kind of like telling myself
I'm letting go with this. Instead, I'm choosing to
take it gracefully and maybe take time to
focus on something else instead of computer work, I could go ahead there and add the opposite of what I
want to feel instead. Notice that I'm not
ignoring my feelings, a frustration and inpatients
about my computer problems. They are real, they affect me and keep me from
feeling at my best. So I pay attention to them
even if they're negative. That's why I'm writing them
down here or doodling them. But then I'm also choosing
to move on from there. Which is when we delve
into the focus on this. Because at the same time
we don't want to just put a band-aid on our
wounds sort of thing. That's such a big lesson I'm
learning for myself care. Another big one, daly, is this feeling that I just
don't have enough time. To do everything that I want to. I'm going to draw a clock. Sometimes I might
feel like writing. Sometimes it comes out
in a picture instead. Important part is just
expressing your feelings. Expressing those
emotions in some way. The self-care aspect of this is paying attention
into your feelings, noticing them, and checking in. Because it's not always so
common that we ask ourselves, what do I want to let go of? What do I want to focus on? We might get so taken up by our busy schedules are
plans and programs. But I've found that it's so key to take the time for that, at least in my life lately. Not enough time to do everything. It doesn't. Somehow, when I'm putting
it down on paper, whether in doodles
or in writing. Somehow my heart feels
just a little bit lighter. My mind is just freeing, liberating to just let go of it. Another big one
that I'm feeling at the moment is some impatience. I release. I wanted to let
go of impatience. Get my courses done. It's funny, but when I
start creating a course, I get so excited, I get so inspired. And I start planning it. I start working on the outline. Maybe I might start filming
it and then something happens and there's a halt, there's a pause,
there's an obstacle, and I have to wait
to continue it. I get so impatient. I'm like, Oh, I wanted
to get it done. Either it's with
computer problems or maybe my cameras stops working or the battery dies or something
just seems to happen. So know that I could use a
little bit more patients. So I'm letting go of
inpatients and I might draw some of the little courses that I've been working on. I started a little hoarse about cats for a cat. It or it'll pit journal kind of happened that
I didn't get to finish it. I barely got to start it. And other things
came up instead, so I haven't even started it. I just planned it out. Now it's sitting on the
shelf for a little bit. Anyway, so I'm letting go
of patients to get it done. And I'm even going to
write the feeling. I think it really helps
sometimes to write the feelings, feeling that I have to do it. All right now, really, it's, it's probably just me putting on this
pressure for myself. Nobody else's telling
me what to do. So I do want to let go of
that feeling that I have. This is a big
important key for me. Another one is perfectionism. In case you're like
me, you're creative. This is biggie perfection. And this is something I probably write down
and let go very, very often I'm going
to draw a little star. I want to be number one. I want everything to be perfect. I want people to see
me in a good light, but I'm realizing that
that's not necessary. I wanted to let go of that because then I become
so much happier. I'm going to write
here obligations. Another one. Whenever, where you have
little spaces you can add any more doodles
are anymore. It'll keywords that
just come to mind as you're checking in and asking
yourself these questions. In other one lady, I haven't been
sleeping very well, so I feel very tired. I didn't go well. Since think what
words would fit best, maybe I could just write
the word tired and draw as sleepy. Sleepy me. Sometimes it ties
in with my work. Sometimes I'm too excited, sometimes I'm a little
bit stressed out. So I know that it's it
really has a lot to do with how I'm handling
these emotions. Just going to put some Z's here. Here I have big
bags under my arms, my eyes, sorry, hired. I can write tiredness and often the key to let go of
these things is to ask myself, what can I do about them? How do I want to let
go of tiredness? Well, I can focus and make time for taking a nap if you're
not sure what to put on, I focus kind of you can make it tie along like
I mentioned before, or it can, it can also be just
totally different things. At the thing that comes first
to mind is I want to focus on doing one thing at a time. I'm going to make this
really big and bolded. Because this one is really
key for me at this moment. One thing at a time, Another one I want to focus
on is what brings me, Joel. I'll put it as if it
were a little flag. Another one related
to self-care again, is asking myself, this
can be in light of work, personal life, practical
life, time with friends. What is my heart going to make it a
little speech bubble? Is my heart telling me. You can ask yourself
this about many things. I'm going to add a
little heart here. Here. What is my
heart telling me related to my work
or my courses, even related to my
computer problems are my frustrations
or my tiredness. Very often my heart tells me, this is related to work, is telling me to create or play. So I am taking time to pay
attention to those feelings. Make the time for that. I also would like to
call it playful art. That's part of my
self-care routine. I take some time every
day or every other day. I don't push myself over it. I mean, I don't gild
myself over it. If I can't if it
doesn't work one day. I'm going to draw
a little playful. Even though my kind
of play is art. I focus on doing one
thing at a time on joy. What brings me joy? What is my heart telling me? It's telling me to draw, create, play, play for art. Another thing that I
am focused on lately is asking myself, why, why am I doing what I'm doing? It's kind of helpful
to ask myself, why am I doing this? What am I, what is my
heart telling me then, what am I doing? Why am I doing what I'm doing? And how? This is a question that I add to this journal or I
mentioned it many times. How does it make me feel? So I'm going around and
just having fun with this. Turning it upside down. Protect yourself,
play and have fun. Even if my word is upside down. That's what's great
about doodles. You're doing this for yourself. And I'm going to add
a big question mark, because this is a big
important question. Why am I doing what I'm doing? So this can be
related to my work, my personal time, my hobbies, and then how does
it make me feel? So taking the time
to journal about that is so enlightening. Another one that I
want to focus on is I bet you can tell
what I'm drawing here. I want to focus on new ideas. I'm going to write
here new ideas. New inspiration. I'm just going to write in
spoke short for inspiration. I'm going to draw a
happy little light bulb. Light bulb is for the ideas. I can add some sparkles, new ideas, new inspiration. And other thing I want to
add is I want to focus on balance in my life. Maybe I'll put a
heart in the middle. This is a enlight of
today's course to focusing, learning to focus on
balancing self-care. My work. This is a challenge, but it's really something that
I want to continue to do. I feel I've made
so much progress. I've learnt so much this last
year, these last months. And I've experienced so many amazing
results because of it. Maybe I might add some feelings
that tie in with this. Brings me peace. By focusing on my self-care. I've also built confidence. Confidence. Oops, that's probably
not big enough. I'll write joy. Going to wet. I'm going to add
confidence into this one. By finding the right
balance in my work. I've built up
confidence in my work. I've been able to make
much more progress. For my self-care. I've learned or felt acceptance of myself no
matter how I am or not, what I do or don't do, I've realized that I am enough and that's at the
heart of acceptance. Finding the right balance
in my work has also given me so much more
passion and excitement in my work because
I haven't felt stressed or pressured to do anything because I
take time to ask what my heart is telling me and
how does it make me feel? Why am I doing what I'm doing? So it's amazing that
all these things that I'm learning to
focus on actually has huge amazing results in
my self-care and my work. And I'm just realizing this
now as I put it all together, anyway, I love this
about journaling. You get these aha
moments as you go. I am focusing on Jul. That's at the heart of it all. Gratitude. That's a big one too. I'm going to put it in
a nice little ribbon. When I focus my mind, my thoughts on gratitude
than everything is okay. Another one I'm learning is
that it's okay to say no. Realizing that it's not selfish. There's a time and place
and it's okay to do it. I don't guilt myself
over it anymore. Okay. Well, I think we're done. I hope it went well for
you as well and that you really enjoyed
this process of letting go and focusing on such a mindful time
for me relaxing, unwinding from the busy day. Or if it's something
you're doing first thing in the morning, I'm going to go over it with
my pen and also some colors. So I have a marker here. I chose my colors. I kind of wanted a blue
and maybe a peach color. I could go ahead and
either start with my markers or with my line. Start tracing some
of the letters or doodles that I may want to stand out a little
bit more with some color. I'm going to make this
big bolded word here. What is my heart telling me? So as you're tracing over again, it's a good reminder for you. I'm going to also the word why? Since these are
two big questions, I might drop color in my heart. Maybe draw over the the scale just to help it stand
out a little bit more. I think that's good for now. Laughter. You can always
go ahead and choose the same color if you
want to add some more. Here, I might color
in this ribbon. Try not to color in on the texts because sometimes my pencil
smudges a little bit. To color in this bolded word. You can feel free to use whatever medium you feel
most comfortable with. What makes you happy or
what you have on hand, even if it's not markers, then go ahead and use some colored pencils
or maybe some paints. Just make sure that it
fits okay with your paper. Again, I'm going to color
in this joy ribbon. I noticed that I
wrote joy twice. This must be an important
thing for me to focus on. That's one of my main
self-care goals. Asking myself what brings
me the greatest joy? And that's been something
that I have been focusing on. Must be something I want
to continue to focus on because it's there twice. So again, it's the question, what, what brings
me greatest joy? That's the question that's at the heart of
self-care for me. Because if it brings me joy, It's something that I'm
going to find pleasure in. I'm going to do it. Well. It's going to make me feel good. And in return. In turn, it's going
to help me be greater health and joy,
inspiration to others. Alright, to go ahead and color
in This computer screen. All right, I think it's
good for the colors. Now. I'm just going to go and
ink the rest of my page. As you trace, just feel free to change or archer or add
some things that you want. Some of the amazing
things while as I'm, as I'm tracing over, I kind of think about what I drew and how they
tie along together. For example, when I feel tired, if I let go of tiredness, I know that it will
kind of free me. Letting go of some of these frees me to be able
to focus on this. For example, letting
go of tiredness. Even though I'm just letting go of the feelings
or the thoughts. It's freeing me up to
think about what I can do. What is my heart
telling me to do? Maybe it's telling
me to take a nap. So as I let go, I am liberated. I'm free to feel the way
that I need to feel. Maybe take the steps to think positively to get to the other side of the
negative feelings. That's a very practical example of how taking the time to do
this little exercise can be. So the benefits
can be so amazing. And I've seen that. In so many different
areas of my life. That's why it has become my little routine, daily routine. Sometimes I write it out. Again. I do the same process. I just have one side of the
paper for I did go out. The other side of the paper
is what I want to focus on. When I feel more
creative or when I just wanted to play and
wind even more. It's when I add some art, which is what I'm doing here. I'm just having fun adding
even more decorations. You can put as much into this or as little into it as you want. And as you have the
time for don't feel guilty if you can't get to the inking at the
same time or in one girl right after you've
done your sketching? Like I've mentioned before, it's fine if you do it that
evening or even the next day. One time, I took every day to sketch something and I only got to ink them
in on the weekend. I was okay with that. Sorry, I'm just seeing
what I wanted to ink next was actually fun. A good little reminder
for me of what I had let go of and
focused on in my week. Otherwise, it's like we're
just piling on more and more. Hertz. I noticed how how
amazing it is to kind of look back in time a little bit on my past journal
prompts or past posts. I guess you would call it. And it's so interesting. I love it because it really
shows where I've made progress and in what
ways I've grown. If you want a
little inspiration, if you want some encouragement. As you'll notice while
I do the inking, some of the time, I'm talking maybe
talking to you, giving you a little
few instructions or examples of what I'm
doing or my thought process. Other times, I'm
just being still and quiet. And that's okay. I think we all need to take that time to listen
to our hearts. Even as we're doing a
digital activity or project. Doodle page like this. Go with the flow. Go where your heart leads. Think about things,
reflect on things. Just have fun and enjoy the process of
doodling and inking. All of it is beneficial for
you and your self-care. Such as remind yourself of this. We can move on to
the happy positives. Just curious, how has it felt for you to work on these pages? Something you can ask yourself, It's something you can share with a friend or your loved one. If you like. An amazing thing that I've realized is as I've
let go of perfectionism, or in patients or obligations feeding
I have to do at all. I'm free and open and so much more inspired to
get to this side. I'm almost liberated
to the playful art. When I hold on to those. And negative feelings. It almost it almost keeps
me back, holds me back. I've realized the
process of letting go. It's just as important as
focusing on the positives. We're often told,
were very often told. Look on the bright
side of things. Your gratitudes every day. What are you most
thankful for all that? And I totally agree. That is so, so important. But I do believe, and it's something I've
experienced in my own life that I also need to take
the time for releasing. Not only releasing,
but paying attention to the negatives, whether
it's frustrations, maybe it could be even
bigger like griefs, disappointments, or
difficult situations. Pass things from childhood
or we need to make the time for dealing with those difficult things in order
to get to the other side. Otherwise, it's like
we're just piling on. More and more. Pain. Hurts. Little bodies started on mind's eye a little hearts can
only take so much of that. Until we finally crack. Or until we get sick. Maybe physically or mentally, were not made to handle
so much of that. So much pain and negatives. That's why in my personal life, I found it so beneficial
to let go and release. That didn't serve me anymore. That was holding me back from being what I
needed to be today. What I could be. Now that you're done with
all your lights, you can finish off by
erasing your pencil. If you have some cleaner lines. At the same time, it
might make it clear. In case you've forgotten to
draw some things like for me, I forgot to trace over
my computer, my monitor. So I'm going to go ahead and do that because we don't notice it so well with a
very light peach color. This ribbon I think
is okay like that. Once you finish this, you
can also decide if there's other things that you
want to trace over. For example, I might want to make this word stand
out a little bit more. Again because the pencil
lines or you raised, now the color peach
is very light. This was a bolded words, so I feel that it was
an important one. I want to make it
stand out more. I liked having my little
stars with an outline. Maybe I'll just go ahead and
do the little ribbon here. I don't want to forget
this line can also go ahead and make little
lines are straight lines. Leave a little space in-between up to you how
you don't want to do it. There, you have it
yours letting go of and focusing on
page personally, I like asking myself some questions or
journal prompts as it helps me delve a
little deeper and listen to my inner expressions. If you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and journal your thoughts
after each question. Porches sit back and reflect. I've also included a file
that you can download if you prefer doing so at a
later time. Enjoy.
13. My Special Place: Let's begin with our
next little class related to our self-care. Today, we're going
to be delving in focusing on my special place. I will start with my title down here at the bottom. As usual. I will write my special place. You can give it whatever
title you would like, something related to
your favorite place, your surroundings. Then I will close up the box
and make space for the date. Moving on to filling
up our page and do thing about the special
places that we love. So you can take a little
moment to get quiet, to relax, to unwind. Think about those places or spots in your house
or in nature, wherever you feel, comfort or cosy or that have a
special meaning to you. I'm going to start out by
my special place at home. I'm going to probably draw
just the shape of a house. Kind of start with a
triangle for the roof. Square, or rectangle
shape for the house part. I might write here, my special place at home. Because I'm thinking about
the different places I enjoy. I have special places at home, maybe out in nature, maybe more specifically in
my bedroom or in my office. So it's whatever really you
find that suits you the best. I'm going to draw my
special place at home, which is right now, probably my little
cozy spot where I just take time to read to get quiet and
have my breakfast, my little journal time. I call that my special place. I have a really
comfy chair, couch, armchair, trying to depict it here by memory and
what it looks like. So just think about a place that either has meaningful you are
where you love to hang out. Either where you take
your quiet times or your I'm thinking about
my self-care and this is the spot that I love to put aside that
time for me, just me. I'm going to make
it a little bit shorter so that it
fits into the house. Maybe something
has come to mind. Maybe not yet. It's okay. Just take your time
and I'm going to draw a little a little foot rest. You can draw any little detail
that you want to include. I have a little pillow or a
few pillows and I'm going to draw here my little book and even my little pen
because that's where I sit and I journal and I have my little table with my cup of tea
or a cup of coffee. In my little stool table there. I have a bookshelf. I have more books to read. I might have a little
picture frame. There. Have been a little
candle tonight. And I love my little labs. As you doodle and draw or write, take time to notice those things that you love about her space. You could just draw your couch, but taking time to notice the things you love
and ask yourself what is special
about those things? Not only will they bring
more meaning to you, but you'll probably
appreciate them even more after thinking about them. Okay, so I might write, you might also write, how does it make you feel? I love that. It's so cozy, quiet. That's where I spend my time. So it's not in the living room, It's in my office. I take this time for
mainly for reflection. I would say it sums
it all up for me because I take time
to read, to meditate. A journal reflection
and also to dream. This is the perfect little spot, my favorite little spots
to do that, just fat. Moving on, I think
I'm going to go to my facial or favorite
place in nature. I'm going to write
here. In nature. Here is probably my next
favorite place to be. I'm really are home person. I think when I'm out, sometimes it's hard
for me to go out, especially if the weather
is a bit cold and gloomy or too hot. I'm very affected by the extreme weathers and
where I live, ellipse. I need to write this a
little smaller where I live. We do have some extreme weather. Sometimes a little
bit difficult. Summer gets too hot, winter gets too cold. So I think my
favorite times to go out and be out in nature
is an autumn and spring. Anyway. That's
also another thing that I've found out
about myself is I took the time to doodle
and journal. That way. I'm okay with it
and I accept it. I don't feel bad. I don't get guilty over it. Why I don't go out more. Summer months are the winter
months and just enjoy my different spaces
at different times of the year in
different seasons. So where do I love
being out in nature? I think one of my favorite place is going out in the forest. You live in a little town in surrounded by little forests. We take some forest walks. I love to go out with my
husband and sometimes my kids are happy
to come along to. Right now. It's autumn. A beautiful colored leaves. I like to just doodle, or right? As it comes to you, just write doodle what it is
that you enjoy. I might just draw. Also again, whatever comes. Ever you feel inspired to
draw or doodle at the moment. So I think I'm going
to draw some of these because right now there
are leaves all over, but there are beautiful
red, yellow, brown colors. I just love that
about right now. The little walk in our forest
has such cute little spots. There's even a little bridge. There's a little bridge. Looks more like a rainbow. Just going over a little
stream, little waterfall. Even. Pay attention to
those little details and you can ask yourself,
why are you lie them? Draw a little bushes. Going to go ahead
and draw some trees. You can draw more
details on, some. Can be a little bit more behind. Ever feels good
and right for you. Think about your favorite
leaves, your favorite trees. I love those birch
trees that are really tall and their trunks are white. Around here. We
also have lots of pine trees and they
are so beautiful. We see them all year round, not only in winter. That's what I love. I think about European forests. They have so much variety. I'll draw some bushes, lots of deep
thoughts or as many, you can draw as many or as
little details as you want. Here's my little stream
underneath the bridge. Alright, There's
probably so many things I could draw about nature. I love watching the birds. I just feel so
calm and at peace. At peace in nature. Some way, some reason
it brings such clarity, as well as sparks me
with inspiration. There's just something
about being there. Then I'm going to maybe
write another place. Whereas my special
place, outdoors. But not only add in nature, but I'm just reflecting
here on what else, What other places
outdoors do I enjoy? Or do I find special? What do I sort of consider to be my little self-care enjoyment
or self-care haven. I think one would be
visiting friends. I'm just going to put
some little hearts. Visiting. Friends and family, That's probably my next best
place to be outdoors. Another thing I enjoy is might be a little
tear realistic one, but hey, we're listing our self-care wishes
and things we love. So I might as well
included here, I love going to just going to
draw a little shop, window. Clothing shops. It is part of self-care. You can treat yourself
to that once in awhile. Sometimes I just go for
the fun of it and for some window shopping
doesn't have to always be to buy something. Part I think I only have
space for probably one more. I'm going to add
here in my office. What's my special
place in my office? Because that's where I spend
probably most of the day. And I loved my work. I tried to make it comfortable, inviting, keep it organize. It doesn't always
happen perfectly. I might just draw my desk, one of my desks. I have a desk for art and
a desk for my computer. And maybe I'll
draw me over here. Feel free to put all your place, your favorite place, your
next favorite place, because this is still
at home, I guess. I do enjoy other spots. I enjoyed my room
for certain reasons. I enjoy my kitchen because
I also find it relaxing to just take a break and maybe cook something,
bake something. I think being an artist, being so passionate
about my work, loving my work, I will
include my office. I'm working here even though
it looks like I'm well, my eyes look like
they're closed. I might add my colors. So again, include what those details are about that
space that make it special. And ask yourselves, take the time to ask
yourselves to reflect. Because you'll notice that this will make it even more
meaningful for you. I love my new paints, that I have everything
on my desk available. Paint brushes, my ruler, all the material that I
need his right there at my disposal of a cup of
water for the paint. I have my little notepads, my papers, even have
my little lamp. Some reason I loved
little lamps. I have my comfortable chair. Can include any other words. Passion, because I'm so passionate about my
it work, I love it. And in my office I get
ideas, I get inspiration. Watch, All right, just in SPO, we already have
inspiration from nature, but I get inspiration
as well from my office. I have some picture
frames that inspire me. I can draw a flower, maybe. I think I love that
it's my own space. Any way that you
can personalize it for you and add all those. Robert, you would like to
remember or to think about. Go ahead and personalize
that for you. At the same time, it
helps me to think about that there's anything that I could add into my space to make it
even more special. For example, is I took
the time to think about my cozy little spot here, made me think that I
needed a new couch. I had a very hard,
uncomfortable couch. Recently. I got myself
a really comfy, puffy couch that makes it so
much more special anyways, so now that we're done pencil
drawing and sketching, you can take your bedrock pen, your markers to add in
a little bit of color. Might go ahead and
start with that part. So I want to see what
colors we have here. I'm going to start by
some of the bolded words, some that I want to emphasize, some that just came in bold. I guess it's kind
of like the titles. You could say. This is another good little
exercise for yourself care because it helps you to
think about your spaces. Not only the spaces
that you love, but as I said before, even the spaces that
maybe you could improve. So that would help even
improve in your self-care. For example, in my office, I thought about some
of the things that I might organize better
just to help keep me motivated and making
better decisions for myself. Without stress,
without pressure. Deep cluttering I
think is a big part. Not having too much stuff, just having the right amount
to simplify my life as well. So I took some time to go
through each cupboard, each drawer in my office, and I'm working on decluttering
some things emotionally. And I feel that my
surroundings has so much impact on my
inner well-being as well. And that's one of the
reasons why I've, I've included my special places
because I really believe that some of these
effect our mental state. I really want to place that I
can practice better habits. We often say that our
well-being comes from within, which is very true. But I feel that it's too folded. I definitely feel
that a lot of it comes from our surroundings
and on the outside. I love making my spaces
beautiful, cozy, warm feeling. Maybe that's what I love
about my home so much. I loved the fact that I can
just come in from the end of the day and enjoy
it to the full. For some reason
after I've come home from an outing or
visiting France, I'm just so contented to come back to my space and I think we
should all feel that way. We should all love our homes. So if there's some
reason you don't love while you don't
feel good in one of your spaces in your house and maybe ask yourself
how you can improve it, how you can make it
special for yourself. These make one little spots
in your house where nobody else can put in their
messages or their stuff. Just try to find one space
that you keep for you. Whether it's your closet. If you have an office, maybe I'll add
some of the trees. Making a space beautiful and comfortable doesn't
need to take a lot. If you feel you don't have
much to put towards it, then just ask yourself, how can you make it comfortable? How can you make it
just right for you? With the things that you have? Sometimes it just takes moving around a few things actually. Not that you have to go and get all these new things for yourself unless you
want to do that. Of course. That's what you
feel would be good. I'm going to trace over the
lab and maybe it'll pillow. I'm going to do the other color. I like blue for my nature, even though most of the
things are green here, I might just add a little
bit of blue to my trees. Maybe make some polka
dots on the couch. Think about the colors,
even the patterns. Are you drawn to
certain colors or patterns in your spaces? Those are the things
that bring you peace or that make you happy. If you set up your spaces, how you love them, they feel right for you. You'll see that things will
come so much easier for you, not only in your
decision-making, but you'll also have
more inspiration, more peace, more
calm, more clarity. I've noticed that for me. It just takes a little time for first of all to reflect on those things
and second of all, to put to put them to use, put them to practice, maybe make it a habit. I've started to make
myself a little habit of asking myself often. Just take every season to remap, revamped my areas a little bit. All right. Now that you're done putting color a little
bit everywhere, you can go ahead
and ink it or at the rest of it that isn't
already with marker. Something else I've noticed
is that even though tiny little changes
that you make to your space or to
your surroundings, maybe you move your
chair facing the window, or you move a part of
plant where you can see it and feel refreshed or feel keys. Just those tiny little things. Even maybe placing
a book that you're reading on to your bookshelf
by your comfy couch. Whatever it makes it
easier for you to stick to your positive habits. For example, before I started
the habit of journaling, I didn't really have a quiet
space or a quiet spot. So just making a little anytime a nice space already encouraged me to use it to the maximum. Helped me to make
the time for it. Now, it's something I look
forward to every morning. I'm surprised that just by
changing my surroundings, it's changed the way
I think about things. Changed, the way I think
about my morning routine. Even the way I think
about decorating my home. Now I have in mind not
only what looks nice, it looks beautiful, but also
what brings more value. More joy, and more
piece my space. How can I improve my space? Or what can I make special
about this place that I have? Maybe you feel that
you don't have a place that you
can call your own. That's when creativity comes in. You might have to be very
creative on what space you use. Even if you only have your
closet or the toilet. I remember when my
kids were young, I would just sometimes go in the toilet and I would have a little bookshelf and
that was my little place. I knew that I would be quiet there for these
the few minutes. That might sound drastic, but you can find a
place if you want to know another one that police My dad used to use was he would
go to the car. He would have his
special place in the car because he knew he was
gonna be quiet there. So that's another idea. If you don't have that
special place at home, make sure that you
personalize this page again. For your needs, your wants, your desires, your feelings. You don't need any special
skill for doodling. You just need a
little imagination. Then maybe it'll fun. Take the time for some fun play. Tell yourself that there's
no buddy That's going to see it or judged
or judge, you buy it. That's why I'm not
so into getting a totally perfect
this probability in Oaxaca, real scribble. But it means it to me. Then it will mean something
different to each of us. I've tried lots of different
leaves and I think that's because that's one thing
I love about Optum. There is a variety of leaves. I love that little
grass, little flowers. Just going to add in some
more trees in the back. Can fill up your spaces if
you want some more as you go. Right here. Creativity.
Because having beautiful place definitely
helps to spark my creativity. Beautiful space,
comfortable space. It's inviting space. I'm asking myself what kind of space makes it those
things for me. Then it will help you to kind of clearer the ways that you can personalize your space
to make you feel good. That inspires you. That sparks joy or creativity. What you're specifically machine or hoping for in your space. Don't limit yourself. I think we sometimes, I know if you take
for granted labels, simple things that can
make a big difference. Like I mentioned before, whether or pots of plants, vase of fresh flowers have a wonderful husband who remembers to bring
the occasional flowers. Because it's not something
that I'll get myself. But if you don't have somebody
that will get you some, then maybe there's something
to treat yourself too. For yourself care. Do you like seeing
beautiful flowers or just fresh flowers
in your home? Especially in the winter
months when it can get big, sad and gloomy or it's easy
to fall into depression. Probably just having a
little gritty bouquet of flowers could help make a
difference to your space. Then I'm going to
trace over my title. Now you can go ahead and erase the extra little pencil
lines that weren't useful. Just for a cleaner look. My special place, Doodle
page for my self-care. Personally, I like asking myself some questions or journal prompts as it helps
me delve a little deeper and listen to
my inner expressions. If you feel that this is something you'd
benefit from as well, then I've included
a few questions here to get you started. You can pause the video and journal your thoughts
after each question. Just sit back and reflect. I've also included
a file that you can download if you prefer
doing so at a later time. Enjoy.
14. Congratulations: Congratulations for completing
this course with me. I'm so happy and I
hope that you are too. And as I've said before, this may start you on your own self-care journey
with even more doodles or art projects I wanted
to share with you here maybe a few other ideas of topics you'd like to
do it on the bat. Here are some of the ones
that I've done as of late that had been so much
fun and meaningful for me. Once again, I encourage you
to find your own topics, to find your own prompts, and to doodle your
own way that is most beneficial and
meaningful for you. Now that you've
finished this course, something really
interesting would be to answer this question for
yourself. Once again. What is self-care? To me? Again, write this down in your little self-care
journal or a notebook. Then remember those
questions that you asked yourself
before the course. Well, here's the time
you can take them out again and look over them, read them, and compare
your answers from then. And now after you've
gone through the course. What is self-care to you? Do you see some difference
or maybe some patterns? Do you feel more clarity? Now, as you answer it this time? You could go even
further to ask yourself, what do I feel I got
out of this course? Or maybe how much did I
get out of this course? These are questions
just for you. But as you'll notice, it will start a little
habit of questioning yourself to help you
realize that you matter, that you're important,
that you are beautiful, you are loved, and you are so deserving of this self-care, as well as to give
you more clarity and understanding
about yourself, your preferences, how
you handle things. And this is amazing
growth in self-care. Thank you again for joining me and for helping the world be a better place because
you've taken time for you. The world needs
more of us who are paying attention
to our self-care. Because in turn
will be creatives who helped shine a light
on others through our art. Or even just with our
smiles and our presence. Thank you again and
enjoy a wonderful day. A wonderful continued
journey in your self-care.
