Weighty Story from Highschool
The first step is to practice getting ideas from your day to day life:
The next step is to choose the idea that you think is the best candidate to be turned into a slice of life comic.
I think the one I want to focus on is the story from back in my high school days because it’s something that really happened, it’s a story I tell a lot so I’m really familiar with the elements, it gives me a chance to try and draw my old high school gym teacher, (which sounds fun) and it shows something of my character back then as a talkative know-it-all, which is something I still struggle with sometimes
To make this funnier I’m going to simplify the story to cut out the parts that aren’t especially necessary, i'm going to start with the who what where and why:
I think it will be funny if use exaggeration to inflate the teacher’s response into full out laughing in my face, and maybe he’s even going to make me run laps as a punishment. This sets me up nicely for an inversion.
In my gym class example the story can be explained in 4 parts, by going over the basic plot points,
the teacher says we have to weigh ourselves,
I need to try to dissuade him with my speil,
teacher laughs at me and sends me for Laps
I’m happy about it.
After some Further considerations, I've ended up with this:
And Here's my Funny 4-Panel script for my Slice of Life Comic:
Though it's not in the scope of this class I thought that everyone might like to have a look at what this 4-panel Comic script and thumbnail sketches look like all drawn up!
Thanks for having a look at my project <3
