Sorry, I can't find my initial sketchbook sketches. I found it really hard to settle on a concept as everything seemed hard to simplify. 

Thats one of my biggest roadblocks! Simplifying. The video helped of course but when I go to put it down on paper / screen, I automatically over do it. 

I chose a Yoyo as a toy that brought back some great memories and wanted a nod to the 70's so a smiley face was my other idea. 

 

Not sure if this has met the brief / if it is overly busy, but once I started on yoyo's I found it hard to stop. 

 

I used the same face and yoyo style to maintain cohesion but varied size and colour.
