I am a graphic designer and I volunteer for a local American football team in France. We needed a new collection of clothes with our logo, and this class has helped me to know how to prepare my files. It has also helped me understand that it is ok to request tweaks and insist when the final product doesn't look like our design or did not follow our requirements. Something a little obvious but that I haven't thought about before watching this course was the possible limitation is thread colors. I am working with a professional who does not communicate at all on these and just tweaks my designs based on what he likes or can do. But after this course I have started asking more technical questions to adapt my designs and guide him to what I want and would accept or not.

For the hoodie below, I specifically mentioned not to use it on dark fabrics for accessibility purpose but he kept using it on all and any colors. After reworking my files and adding all my requirements directly on the Illustrator file following the course instructions, I sent him again and asked him to redo it until it looks right. I am currently waiting for the result.

Now, my next step will be to actually learn the basics of embroidery so that I can better understand the limitations of this technique and ask better questions beforehand, to adapt my designs, and reduce the time or possible errors when dealing with professional embroiderers or merch agencies.

Thank you for this class! You are really interesting and straight forward which makes it easy to learn from you. Your passion is contagious and it makes me want to know more about merchandising and also create just for fun rather than just needing it. I am looking forward to watching the other courses available.
