Know Your Art

Part 1: Your Virtuosity

  1. What does your art look like? Describe it in purely visual terms, such as colour, texture, line quality, etc.

  1. What does your art feel like? Describe it in terms of the mood or energy it evokes.

  1. What is the conceptual approach of your art? Is it more symbolic and concept-driven, or more straightforward and literal? Is it more about ideas or pictures?

  1. What does your illustration do best? What is it best suited for? For instance, it might be perfect for kids books but not so great for editorial. Or it might be perfect for packaging but not so great as framed art in a gallery.

  1. How do you make your art? What are the tools and techniques (media) that you need to make it happen? This could include things like hardware, software, art supplies, filters, plugins and digital brushes. For example, which tools, if removed from your process, would cause your work to completely fall apart? Describe your illustration process. What are the steps you take to make it, from start to finished? For example, wow do you come up with ideas? How do you transition from rough to finished artwork?

  1. How much time do you need to make your art? Are you a fast or a slow worker? Is there a sweet spot, in terms of time, where you tend to make your best work?

depends on the project, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, when in a good mood and no one ruins it for me!

  1. What sort of conditions do you need to make your art? Do you prefer working alone, or around others? Do you need silence, or do you prefer loud music?

sometimes alone aometimes with others, silence or here something I love with my headphones only!

Comics/Graphic Novels, Fashion, Portraiture, Anime, Fantasy, No interest

A giant outdoor mural, A board book for toddlers, A tote bag, A line of greeting cards, A map for a travel website, Custom stationery. A line of kitchen decor, Children’s toys, Restaurants…

  1. What is unique about what you do, that nobody else does?
