Hi Dovey. This is awesome! I love VW vans so this is one of my favorites. Would you like any feedback?

Excellent, well I think you have done a great job. I especially like the highlights that you have done on the vans windows. 
I agree that the texture might be a little too heavy. You can lessen it by painting on the mask with a brush, I like to use a textured brush. Remember on a mask that white reveals and black conceals. 
It also looks like the texture is being applied to the whole document, which is fine, but if you apply textures to individual pieces you will get more background colors showing through and it will be more authentic. For example if you apply a texture to just the text you will see the yellow  from behind it show through. 
Lastly I am counting about 10 different colors, tints, or shades in this piece. This alway one of the hardest parts for me as well, but limiting to between three and 5 is a great way to push yourself!

The issue with the layering is when I raster to mask, it makes everything under it disappear. I follow you step by step, add my raster texture on top, not nested, nothing is nested to it. Hit raster to mask and bam, the only thing I can see is my background.

I undo it, everything returns. I have no idea what is going. Any advice?

You are welcome, I figure if you don't get feedback you won't be able to improve as fast, so I always try to offer it if people want it.
I must not have explained this making part very clearly, when you are trying to mask to a single object you want the mask to be nested with that object. For example if you want to mask to only the purple on your van you would make a raster mask out of the texture, then everything will disappear, but in the layers panel drag that mask on to the van shapes layer to make it clip to just that layer. You should then see the thumbnail of the van shape layer and next to it the texture mask layer. If you open that layer up using the arrow on the left, you will be able to select and edit the mask layer individually.
Don't worry if masks around causing you trouble, they are hard for almost everyone at first, I know they were for me and I am still learning a lot about them, but they are fundamental to design and photo work so it is worth the time and effort to learn to understand them.

Had a little issue with getting the texture right. I am still not sure if it is a little too much but I can spend HOURS (more like days) working on and stressing over the smallest details. So I figure I needed to stop. Thank you for teaching this course, it was a nice break and fun to do something new.
