About This Class

This is a follow-up on my beginner's course on drawing with Concepts, an app available on Windows, iPads and Android tablets.

This class is for students with basic knowledge of Concepts and the drawing tools available. If you're new to Concepts, watch the beginner's course first.

To follow along with this course, you'll need to have installed Concepts. While the app is free to use, certain tools are locked behind paywall. You can follow along with the free tools but I recommend buying the Essentials set (one-time purchase) which will unlock unlimited layers (incredibly useful).

In this class we will learn the workflow of creating digital illustrations with Concepts using lines, shapes and overlapping techniques.

1. Intro: Hello and welcome to this online course on creating vector art using concepts, which is a vector illustration app that's available on the Android, iPad and Windows platform. My name is 200 and I'm an artist and graphic designer. So I've been creating and making art since 2005. I use traditional as well as digital twos. So these cost that you are watching is actually my second cause on drawing with concepts. If you are a beginner and you're using concepts for the first time, I highly recommend you check all my first calls where I will show you around a user interface and introduce you to the basic workflow when it comes to creating digital art. For this course, we are going to get more drawing a sizes. Beginners who want to challenge themselves can also follow along because the instructions are still going to be step-by-step. So the goal of this clause is actually to get you more familiar with using concepts to create digital art. We are going to explore creative team. We have some of the drawing exercises while we play along with lines and shapes. In this course, we will be drawing her reread comes. You also get to draw and design your own butterflies and other flying insects. And in the last drawing exercise, we are going to draw a complicated street scene in order to follow along with this cause obviously you need the app concepts, which by the way, if you don't already know, is actually a freemium app, which is to say that it's free to use. However, some of the drawing tools are actually locked behind a paywall. So this course is actually designed with this freemium app in mind. You don't actually have to pay anything because all the tools that out we'll be using will be available for you under the basic sets. However, I do highly recommend you operate through the essentials set where we get a bleed easy to create an unlimited number of layers. So if you are just using the basic sets, we have limited our two set. Okay, you can still follow along just there when it comes to certain workflows, CME, fewer bit restrictive, which you will probably understand later on. Seo follow along with the other lessons and then you can choose whether or not you want to upgrade today essentials set to get Molly, here's it's a onetime purchase, so it's really worth that money. We'll be using some reference photos so you can go ahead and download those reference photos from the Downloads section first. And the last thing I want to see is if you do enjoy these cars, leave me a review to let me and others know how good this cost is. Alright, let's get started with our first lesson. 2. What is vector art: In this first lesson, I want to talk about vector odd and show you some examples of vector. So vector art is created using vector graphics. And vector graphics are basically lines, pawns, curves, and shapes based on mathematical formula. The characteristics or vector art are the odd. We'll look at various Dao lies. The art has this very clean MOOC and the lines are very smooth. And you can zoom into any zoom level. And the odd we'll still look very sharp, very detailed. There is no pixelation at all because the ADH is actually created using mathematical formula. So you can zoom into any level you want. The art that you create is independent of resolution. So let's take a look at the outline or the wireframe of this art. So this is vector art or this life and you see based on mathematical formulas. And let me turn on the color again. So the main reason why someone may want to use vector graphic design apps to create vector art is because they want to get that star lives look. So this is a soccer player that I created using software, this app called Adobe Illustrator. That is of vector artwork. This is also a vector. And here you can see there is actually not a lot of details. This shadow shape here is just one connected shape. I have some highlights, some shadows. As I zoom a way. It's recognizable as a soccer player. But when I zoom in, you can see there's actually not a lot of detail compared to this clay on the left side. And the style here it's very clean. The coloring style here it's very flat. It's made out of just shapes. Vector graphics can be used to create illustrations, graphic design and PhDs design. So this is an example of a page design with a mix of vector and raster graphics. Rest of the graphics obviously images with a certain resolution. So when you zoom in close enough, you can see the image will be pixelated. Whereas for vector graphics, phones, by the way, are based on vector graphics. So when you zoom into this tax or this font, you can see the lines they are due. Very sharp, fresh treat detail. You can certainly create this 3D looking rough fit using vector, but it's going to take a long time. So for graphics like this, it's best to use 3D software. And for artworks that there are going to look more star lies, it's more suitable to use vector software. In short, you should always choose to correct software for the type of art you want to create it. I'm using an iPad Pro here. So some of the vector apps that are available on the iPad are concepts, which is a vector base illustration app. Adobe Illustrator is the app that I showed you earlier. This can be used for illustration as well as graphic design. Affinity Designer is very similar to Adobe Illustrator and this is a vector neater. It's also used for creating and vector graphics. Let's open this. These are some sample vector works provided by vector nature, which by the way is a paid app. It's not a free app. So let's take a look at this up so you can see the coloring style. It's kind of like that. And the lines are very clean. This otherworldly is independent of resolutions. Can really zoom in all the way and a lines we'll still be shop. There will not be any pixelation. For this particular app. You can create gradation. So here you can see the colors degree date to white. This is lovely artwork. I like this coloring style. You can use vector graphics to create ketones as well. Again, checkout shapes here, check out the clean lines that pain luke. Next, let's take a look at Affinity Designer. So these are sample out books available within Affinity Designer. Let's take a look at this illustration. So you can use vector apps to create editorial style illustrations as well. And sometimes you can also apply textures onto the flat color. And the textures are actually based on some mathematical formula as well. So for this blue background and is orange background, you can see there's actually some texture, which is the nice. Because oftentimes the vector graphic can look quite flat. So if you add texture, it creates increased small texture to your ADH. It gives it a different look. Vector apps are commonly used to create fonts as well as logos, icons. So this, for example, is an example of a typeface or it can be used as a logo as well. So k We zoom in close, you can see does not work. It's very detailed. It's very sharp with no loss of resolution. Affinity Designer and vector neater are paid apps. It's a onetime purchase. So in terms of value for money, they are really worth them money. Adobe Illustrator is a monthly subscription app, so you have to pay monthly. Concepts is a freemium app, which means it's free to use. However, Santa Cruz, I actually locked away. So if you want to unlock the tools you have to pay. It's also a onetime purchase to unlock or the 2s, which I have pitfall. In this class. In this lesson, I'll be using all the tools that are. So you'd have to spend any additional money. So these are some of the vector drawings that I have drawn using concepts. So let's take a look at this latch creation. So this is a radium which I've drawn using shapes. So all these actually just shapes. I did not use any line art for this particular illustration. Actually, the only line art I use is actually this is shape of the bowl. So as you can see the style here, it's very clean, it's very simple. And this is also drawn using this app. It's also a very clean, simple, stylized a look. And here another example. So I can zoom in right close to see the details or the lack of details. And because all these artworks are based on mathematical formulas, they actually do not take up a lot of fouls, space or file storage, the file size bolt, this file is actually very small concepts. The app that we are using for this course is available on iPads, android tablets, as well as on Windows 10 tablets. The versions that I'll be using, we'll be the Android version. Unfortunately, at the time of making this video, the feature set of concepts is different on different platforms. So we've concepts on iPad, you get all the features. Whereas if you're using concepts on Android or Windows tablets, you only get some of the features. So that's the main reason why I'm using concepts on Android. Fault is cos. It's because all the tools that I will be showing you are available on all the platforms. Whereas if I were to use the concepts app on iPad, some of you may not have access to those twos. All right, In the next lesson, I'm going to show you how to set up the workspace for our drawing projects. 3. Setting up the workspace: In this lesson, I'm going to show you how to set up the book space. So open concepts if you have not. So you can create different projects here. I'm just going to use the default project. And you can create a new file by either tapping on this plus icon here or you can tap this plus icon to create a new drawing. So that's just tap here. And now that's customized workspace. This gear icon here to go into the Settings under background, we are going to choose a color for the converse. So I'm going to choose heavy weight, which is a light gray color. The reason why we are not choosing clean white is because when we draw a white shape, white against white will be impossible to see. So that's why we are using light gray. So if we draw white, we can see white against light ray. Scroll down to the bottom, make sure you enable pressure. And scroll down to finger action and choose to have your finger perform the pen Canvas. So when you choose that particular setting, it allows your finger to panned can verse under the Settings, make sure that the two finger tap is assigned to undo. And that's pretty much it for auto settings. You can change other things that are here if you want to, if you are using concepts on the iPad, I recommend you set up this color palette. Well, unfortunately, this color palette is not available on Android and Windows. So to set this up, just tap on the color swatch here and tap on this star four, I got uses. You can actually create your own color palette with your own selected colors. We are not going to be using this in state. We are using dynamic pellets. Some of these pellets may have already been selected for you. If it's selected, you will see this black outlines. So the ones that I recommend you to use, our sheets and riots, we've sheets. If you pick a particular color, let's see, you are drawing a leaf and you use green. We've sheets. This will give you different values of the green. So we can use this light green, two colored highlight. You can use this darker green to cholera the shadow. And for all triads, you can get other colors that will work well with the green. These color palettes will change depending on the color you have selected. That's why they are called dynamic pallets. So for iPad users, you can now switch between the pellets by swiping here. If you have selected a lot of pallets and you have to swipe through them one by one. It can be quite inconvenient to look for the pellet that you really want to use. So let's say I want to draw our leaf known and I tell you to switch to a darker color. You can't switch. I'll click here, tap here to get the darker color very quickly. And you can tap here to get the lighter color very quickly. So this will allow you to switch colors very quickly. And this applies to iPad uses for Android and Windows user, picking colors is going to be a bit more challenging. So once again, I'm going to draw the same leaf. I'm going to pick this green here. When you look at the color wheel, you can turn the color wheel to get different colors. And when you look at the colors here, you will notice that the lighter colors are further away from the center and the colors that are closer to the center, they are more saturate, that they are also darker. So when I draw a leaf, for example, I may choose these green and if I want a lighter green, I will choose this lighter green here at the Furda each. Or if I want a darker color for the shadow, I will choose this darker color or from this same column or row. So picking colors is way easier with the iPad. For Android. Sometimes when you choose the colors from the same rule or from the same, call them, the colors may not work as well. So to get the colors to look, beauty food gather to get the colors to work harmoniously together. It will take some practice to figure out which colors would bass together. The last thing we want to do is to set some of our tools here as a shortcuts. So I'm going to tap here and choose dynamic pen. Dynamic pan is a brushed out reacts to prejudice sensitivity. So after you have selected it, you can tap a way. I can change these to dynamic panics. Well, the reason you can set so many showcases because sometimes you may want to change color. So you can set it is pen to this green color and said This pen tool, black color. And you can choose between these two pans very quickly. Here I want to choose a few 2. Now during the course, when I say pick or select a color for some selected green, you can choose any green you like as long as it looks like a really dire to choose or used a specific color that I use. I will still give you the color codes for the colors that I will use, but you can most certainly choose your own colors, right? In the next lesson, we are going to draw. 4. Let's draw a terrarium (part 1/2): For this tutorial, we are going to draw a territory 3M. And I'm going to show you some examples of terrorism's that I have drawn using the concepts app on the iPad. By the way, the concepts files that you create on iPad, those files are not interchangeable with concepts on Android and Windows. So if you draw something on an iPad and you want to work with that file or some other devices, well, you won't be able to do that. The main reason why we are drawing at her radium is because I don't want you to get to focus on capturing the exact likeness. You don't have to draw it so accurately that it looks exactly like the reference photo. What I want you to do in this tutorial to get familiar with the drawing process as the 2s, the workflow with the app. So for example, with this growing, if you take a look from a far, it looks like a terrorism. However, if you're zooming close, you will see that you are not able to see the individual leaves. That's because this was actually drawn as shape as a big ship. There are some highlight, some shadows, but you are not able to see the individual leaves for this flower or plant here. Yes, you can see the individual leaves or petals, but overall it's still like shape and hearing and see, this is one shaved, this is another shape, just how different colors. So you don't have to draw that accurately in order to create the illusion that you have drawn a Turabian. So this is one example. Let me show you another example here. This is a bit more detailed. As you can see, we are also dealing with shapes. We have this ship here for the soil. We have this shape here for the leaves. And the leaves are combined into this single shape. You are not able to see the individual leaves. So while we want to do here is to make sure that the shapes are recognizable, we don't have to draw the individual details. Sometimes you can add some details here and there. But most importantly, you need to make the shapes of recognizable so that when someone looks at your art at a clans, he or she will be able to tell instantly. You want drawing something like this can actually be drawn really quickly, maybe under bridges, 15 or 30 minutes. Here's another x, some ball. As you can see, it's a very stylized drawing. Take a look at the leaves or the lack of deed hills here as well. If you take a close look, many of these shapes, they they don't really make any sense when you look at them up close like this. However, the shapes will all work together to create drawing. We are not going to be drawing all this. We're just going to be drawing terrain room just one. And here's another example, a gig and see the lack of DTUs here. A drawing can look good even when the BTUs, as long as you get the shapes right, as long as you kept their ships recognizable. Let's take a look at some beautiful examples of her eardrums that I have found on the line. So we are drawing terrain rooms because it's not that complicated to draw. The arc is based on a simple shapes. So this is a beautiful to reread them. This one as well. Become in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and designs. I don't keep Teri Grooms myself, but I appreciate the beauty. And they make for very interesting subjects to draw. So this is the one that I will be drawing, that we will be drawing. And I like this particular one because this shape here, it's unusual. There are some overlapping elements like this plan here is in front of what are the plans behind? And there are two bottles here in front of the term ethereum. And we're going to draw those two bottles as well. You can download this photo from the project files or you can go to the link that I have provided to download this photo. So I've just switched back to using my Android tablet. Alright, so let's draw just opened concepts. Click or tap on the plus icon there to create a new file. We're going to create a few layers first. So just tap here at the new layer. But then to create a few layers and make sure to sauteing mode is set to manual. Let me pause here for a while to see that at a time of making this video. I felt to realize that the freemium version of concepts actually has the limit to the number of leaves you can create. So if you want to create unlimited number of layers, you have to purchase that essential sets. And it's really worth the money because it's a onetime purchase hace. The reason why we have so many layers is because we are going to be drawing different elements on different layers. So let's select a layer somewhere near the bottom, but not at the bottom and tap and rename the layer. I'm going to call this layer regime. The first brush I'm going to choose is a gray brush. So make sure this brush is dynamic pan. And make sure that transparency is at 100%, which is the mean. This color is now a pig. So pick a color, I'm going to choose an A3, this light gray color. So using this light gray dynamic pen, where you can draw the frame of that Hurrian. Make sure you are using the correct layer you're drawing on the correctly year. So let's just draw the frame. This does not have to be perfectly accurate. You don't have to copy the photo exactly. K. So this is what we have next up That's draw the US soil. So for the soil it's behind a frame. So we need to select the layer that is the load a frame. And we're going to rename this layer soil for the soil will tap here to choose the few 2 and choose a dark brown color. And let's zoom in closer to draw the soil. So we just have to draw the shape of the soil. And this view two, as you can see, will help you create this shape. All right? So some of the sol actually came out of the frame. You can erase this part by selecting the eraser to if the, if the eraser is not shown here, you just have to tap on that tool again to make sure that you choose the eraser. And in this case the result is costs lights. So use the eraser to erase the soil there is outside of the frame. All right, now as much as possible, try to draw this as a single shape. Because let's say you draw this as two shapes like this, 12. And later on you want to change the color of the soil. You have to change the color for these two pots. Whereas if you under changed a column, this, you can actually just tap on the arrow to here. Select this shape. And you can change the color very easily. However, if you want to change the color of this to Potts here, you have to select This, change the color so that it is changed to color. So it's a bit inconvenient. And let's undo. Double-tap with your two fingers on the canvas to undo. And that's select this and delete. Select this and delete next up, I wanted to draw the white stones. So the why students are in front on top of the soil. So following why stones, I'm going to choose YOU tool again, and this time I want to choose maybe light gray color. Maybe I will choose c 000 is the off just pure white. So for the stones, again, I'm going to draw them as single shape. Like this. You can see this will overlap the US soil behind. There is some soil above the stone. I think it's okay. So you will see individual stones and each individual stone will have its own light and shadow. So in this case, I just want to maybe create some shadows to give the illusion that this our students. So I'm going to pick or darker green and just draws on the light and shadows like this. So we can just keep on drawing. You can also vary the color of this gray. You can maybe make it slightly darker. Some will be slightly darker, but some will be slightly light. Or you can also draw out the shape if you want to. But don't draw it too far away. Just make sure that the shapes, I mean, this individual stones, these individual shadows, water stones, Ostia, we've been the white shape. And now I want to add some textures to, to solve. So I'm going to use that dynamic pen. But this dynamic pen is a gray color, so I went to used is same brow that mic it slightly lighter or darker. So pick dynamic pen, use one finger and tap and hold on to Canvas. And that will be a pop-up box here. If it's not showing Color Picker, just tap on to tool to switch to the different tools, each to color picker. Move the color picker to, to Raul you want. And now you have that color. So now I can tap on this color and choose a different color that is close to this brown. I'm going to do something like there. If you're using the concepts app on the iPad, you can just use the color palette to choose the lighter brown. So now using this brush, I can draws on textures. If you used a few shape here, you can actually draw different shapes. You can draw triangle shapes or shapes, or you can draw circles as well. So this is just to create some textures. Okay, this part here, it's a bit distracting for me, so I'm going to use the slides to, to erase this part here. And when you're using a slice through to erase, he would actually raise all the elements. So it's going to erase that white as well as to brow shape. And I'm also going to use does 22 reshaped some of the outline here to make it to make some of the ships sharper rather than curvy. Or the brown here as well for the plant that is in front, if you take a close look, you can see the violet or purple outline at the age of the leaves. And this plant is on top of the stones here. So we want to put a layer on top of the stone. Just fought a plant, and I'm going to rename that layer, the plant. So now picked a dynamic pen and pick a purple color. By the way, if you take a look at the color codes, are amines RED. If there is an RV means rid of violet. If it's G, N's, it's green, is BG, it means it's blue, green. So I'm going to pick rate and violet here. And I'm going to draw the outline that are purple or violet line for the leaves. You don't have to be that accurate. But you should make sure Earth had the steel look like leaves. All right. I am drawing the outline here. Later on I will be painting green behind the outlines. And now to fill in the color, you have to put a layer behind our line art. Let me just name this, sorry. Let me just rename this green and pick a green. So I'm going to pick the few shape and pick a green. I'm going to choose maybe G20 for. Now. The downside to does is there is no field bucket tool, so you can't click on shape here to feel the green. So you actually have to draw the green like this. So just follow the shift that you have drawn and just draw this green. Let me just fill this up altogether. So sometimes you will not be able to draw this shape as a single shape. You have to draw this a few times. And for this, I want to add some highlights. So let's use the color picker and pick a lighter green. Okay, it is highlighted, it looks good and looks nice. So let's draw some highlights. Now I'll take a look at the reference photo to place your highlights. Some of the leaves are actually below other leaves, so there will be some shadow effect going on. So that's stronger shadow effect. That's pick a darker green. This green is a bit too dark, so maybe that's pig green from this site here. Stays good enough, or maybe we can pick this darker green and see how it actually loops. Now let's zoom out to see how this plant is looking. Okay, I think this green looks fine, so let's just draw the shadow beneath some of the leaves here. So sometimes when you are drawing the details are, you should always like zoom out to see how it looks just to get an overall feel of how this is looking. You can also use this color to draw ships behind. Now by placing the different elements on different layers, you can make changes very easily do those elements. So for example, for this violet outline, I actually place a onto its own layer. So now I can actually tap on this layer here, tap on this arrow. But then to select odd and lines, the lines are looking a bit thick for me. So I can adjust the thickness of the line here. I can make the lines thicker or thinner. So let me just The lies slightly thinner like this and tab away. Now this layer has other elements. So now this layer only has the violet line art. But if it has other Lear's, sorry, if it has other elements like green, then you won't be able to change to outline so easily because when you tap on the arrow tool here, it actually selects everything and it selects the line art as well as other elements. So you want to keep only a single subject on the single year. It makes it easier to change things later on. 5. Let's draw a terrarium (part 2/2): Okay, so let's draw the plants behind. For the plants behind, Let's move one of these layers down, while this MD layers down below this plant. And I'm going to rename this yellow plant for yellow plant, I'm going to use a field Hou and I'm going to use a yellow, green. So let's pick why he 23 and see how it looks. Let me just zoom in slightly here to draw the shapes. I think this looks good. This looks good. So let's draw some leaves here. Have some leaves are intersect life have done that, cross each other rather than have them side-by-side? I mean, just take a look at the reference photo and see how the leaves are drawn. Use them as inspiration, but you don't have to draw them exactly. Or if you want to, you can actually copy exactly what's shown in the reference photo. Key. Let's zoom out to see what we have here. There is also another plant here, so let's draw that plan as well. This plan has this shape here. My plan doesn't look that great. Let's zoom out and see how it looks. I think it looks fine. All right, let's add some shadows and highlights to the yellow green point behind. I'll see me drawing on the same layer. This time I'm going to pick maybe are yellow. And see how it looks. Let's draw some quick yellows here to see how it looks. I think it looks fine. Yeah, I just want to play some yellows here and there. Notice as I draw here, the yellow, we'll go behind a point because this point is actually on top. It's on a layer on top of this yellow green plant. Okay, so now I may want to draw some, put some yellow here as well. Now while you're drawing, please pay attention to the general shape of the clients behind. Okay, so now we have some highlights. We have the green maybe add some shadows. So for the shadows, I'm going to use the eyedropper to select this green. Remember to use the eyedropper, just tap on to Canvas and move it Kevin Hall on Canvas and move it to the color. So now I wanted to pick her darker green for the shadows. So let's pick a darker green. I think this looks fine. This looks fine. So let's paint this darker green here. I'm going to place some of the darker greens here. All right, For this part here, these could be one leaf and this is another leaf. So we have this leaf on top of, just leave those behind. So you can actually just draw this shadow shape here. And this will create the illusion that this leaf is in front of the leaf behind. I can draw this year as well. Here and here. So this is how you create illusion. But remember to zoom out and see what you have. Okay, it is, is starting to look good for this plant here. I can draw some shadows as well. I'm actually not drawing exactly what's being shown. There is some red, so I may want to add some great as well. So that's the saturated rate and see what will happen. If I add it here. I think it looks fine. It looks fine. Maybe we can have some rate to get the attention of people who are looking at your sketch and you're drawing. Okay, that Zoom login and see what we have. Yeah, I think it looks fine. So if we take a look at the reference photo, you can see there is the frame that is behind a plans as well. So for that, we need to direct and Natalie year right to the bottom and rename this layer that's called free mess well, and choose the same light brush, light green brush, and fraud. The regime that is behind. You may want to use a darker color to differentiate depth frame that is in front to def frame that's behind his case. Let's choose a darker color. Oh, my transparency is that 73 percent. So let's make this a 100 percent. We'll pick and choose a darker color. Let's choose N5 is freewill here, and we'll come down here. That's heavy n here and connect here and go down here. So this terrorism is done. Let's draw the two small bottles that are in front of this term Rerum for the a door. I'm going to draw the bottle on its own layer. So that's tap on this layer and rename it bottle. So let's use the creator draw the bottle and the bottle here on this site. You can actually duplicate two bottles. I mean, duplicate the original bottle if you want to. So there is a stopper behind a bot dorm and because the stub always behind a bottle, we need to please distally or these empty layer behind so that we can draw that stopper, that browse stopper that's used is color here. And place it here. And maybe let's choose something that is more yellow and at least looks nice. So I'm going to use this color to add some texture to this here. And I'm going to use this color to add some textures here. Okay, so there are some plans, insight as well. Since the plans are supposed to be behind or inside the bottle, we can draw on the same layer as the stopper here. So let me just rename this layer stopper. It is good to rename all the layers so that you know that elements are on the layer so that later on if you need to select or change whatever elements you can easily look for them under the appropriate layer. Okay, so let's draw the leaves again as choose a green as choose our G24 again. So for this, let's try and draw this shape. This K, I can make this green, lighter or darker by adding some details. It's not a highlights. My name to use this green to draw the other point as well. And same thing, use this color, this yellow color to draw some highlights. And use a darker green to draw the shadows. Now, I want to place these two bottles in front of the tellurium. And to do that, I need to group them together first before I move them over. Now for the Android version of concepts, unfortunately, there is no grouping tool at a time. Making this video, let me show you what's possible on the iPad. So and I've had you can tap the arrow to here, make sure you are using last saw and make sure it's set to select everything on all the layers here and draw less or around this bottle. There will be this pop-up here and you have to click this icon to group all the elements together. So now that this is a group, you can actually select this as a group. I'm going to tap on the arrow to select again, make sure it's last saw here. Make sure it's partial on. Partial on allows you to select partial parts or a portion of the group to select the whole thing. If partial is off, you actually have to select the whole thing to pick this up. So I have partial on, so I can actually just drag a small selection area here and I can select this and all of these around. I'm going to duplicate this and this duplicate here to decide. So again, I can move this here as well. I can also scale this up and dive at 12, or maybe make this smaller. So this is possible. We have concepts on the iPad. Unfortunately, for Android, there a reasonable group being functionality. So in order to move this possible, I mean, to make it easier to move this to bought those, I'm going to collapse these two layers here. This is the layer with the line off the bottle and this is the LEO if the stopper and the plant inside the bottle. I'm going to tap on the bottle layer here and tap this arrow that's pointing down too much. This layer with the layer just beneath. So this is not grouped. All the elements now are on the same layer. Technically speaking, there's two bottles are not in a group, but they're on the same layer. So it's easier to select these two bottles on the same layer by just tapping on this layer here and tapping on this arrow button, which will select all the things on that layer. So I want to, oops, let me just tell us, let me just zoom out first and then select the bottle. So now I can move the bottle to the front. I'm going to place the bottles here. Does it look good? Nope. It doesn't look that great because it's blocking the plant behind. So let me just undo and move the bot though here, which is slightly overlapping. This, if this is too big, you can tap on this button here stretched to make this smaller and tap away. On the iPad, you can just Guild the group. So this is the theorem that we have from afar. I think it looks fine. Let's zoom in to take a look. So here I noticed that there is a blank area. So it looks like this plan is actually floating on air. So I mean, wanted to go into the soil the year to draw, um, some Maslow to put some muscle behind a plant. K9, I think it looks better. I also want to draw some shapes here to create some textures. So some of the ships here, I'm going to be big. Some are going to be this long. We need some variation. Otherwise it's going to look a bit boring. Now if you have been drawing all the different elements on different layers, you can change up certain things. For example, I may want to change to frame the color of the frame so I can tap on the layer with the free tap on arrow button and tap on a color palette to change, to frame maybe to some thing that is orange. I see how it looks. It actually looks not bad, not met. So this is what's possible when you have all the different elements on their own leaders or your homework, you can get more practice by drawing other theorems. So you can use this reference photos for your practice. 6. Let's design flying insects: For this next drawing exercise, we are going to explore our creativity. We are going to draw some flying insects such as butterflies, moths. Before we started drawing, I want you to go online, go onto Google images to do a search on this flying insects. So that such for butterfly. Now, for this drawing exercise, you don't have to draw exactly the same insect that I am drawing. You can choose whatever that is available to you, or you can design your own butterfly or moth. The drawing process will be the same, but you get to draw your own designs. Now when you are looking at the reference images, when you to pay a close attention to how the wings are attached to the body. So for example, we have this butterfly. There are four wings and these wings are attached who the upper portion of this body here. So later on when you're drawing, if you're drawing from your imagination, you should try to attach the wings to the upper portion and not all the way down to the tail here. If you draw your insect with the wings all the way down to the till, this, it's not going to look believable because he's actually not based on reality. So what do you want to do is actually to use those photos as a reference to help you draw better, help you draw more accurately. But for the design, you can actually just come up with your own design. All right, To start this lesson, once again, let's create a blank canvas. Expand your layers here, and change the sorting to manual. And let's pick a few brush, change the color. Let's choose the brown, helps make sure your opacity is at 100%. And let's draw the body of is maybe more off. Rename your customers a year to body. And while we're on this layer, we can choose a dynamic pen here and choose another brown. Or you can use the eyedropper. Just tap and hold, move to the brown here and select a brown that is maybe darker or lighter. And we can draw some strokes on the insect, on this body to get some textures, to get some details. And let's draw the top here. Next we are going to draw the wing. So let's create a new layer for the wings and rename this layer. Wins. Let's pick Few brush and choose a nice color. Let's choose this red color. Right? So let's draw the wings. If you take a look at the reference photo, you realize that the wings are usually quite wide, maybe about two times the length of the body. So I'm going to draw this wing here. We have one big 11, small one. And you realize that the wings are on top of the body. So let's move this layer down so that it looks bad. So this is the advantage of using layers. You can change the order of the elements Harry easily. So next let's add some pathogens here. So I'm going to use and not feel brush. And I'm going to be immediate. Let's just choose a white. Yes, That's choose a wide. And let's draw some patterns. I'm going to draw a circle. Here's design is going to be very simple. Remember to undo, you can double-tap, provided you have already said that shortcut with deaths at things. This doesn't look around enough. Let's have two here. Alright, so that's pick the allele, a brush with this color and draw more pectins here. This is looking really nice. I can also use the white brush again to draw a few more patterns here. So you can set many shortcuts here. Let me pick an NF few brush here. And this one I will want to be maybe yellow, orange. So for this I want to draw here. And let's pick the white game to draw another circle here. So you can draw any design you like. It's really up to you for this lesson where you just want to explore our creativity and draw the circles here as well. Some of these butterflies are in the sex or Mavs of a really very Corfu in real life. So you can get inspiration to draw anything from anywhere. All right, So this is what we have, just a very simple design. Now we are going to duplicate this site and put it to the other side. So to do that, select the arrow tool. Make sure it's the lasso here if it's not less. So you can just have the option here to change it to less soil and make sure it's partial on. Select all layers. And we can select the wing here. Once the Winger select it, there will be this pop-up box. So we are going to click or tap on this button here to duplicate the wing. And later on we are going to mirror the wing. So that's tap here to duplicate the wing and tap here to mirror the wing. So that's moved is to this side here. Now if the design doesn't look perfectly symmetric goal, you can actually rotate. So I'm going to rotate these very slightly and tap away to put the wing down. So now we have a nice butterfly or flying insect. Now this wing is a bit too big because I accidentally skill it. So images, good dance like the to make sure that this ring is the same size as this. We on the right side. Okay, tap away. Now at this stage, if you want to, let's say draw and deter insect that looks like this, you can actually duplicate the body. But to duplicate this body, you have to select the body and wings. So let me just select this portion here. Now. Let me select the body. And we, so what I wanted to do is to select this, this, and this part here, K. So that's, that's down first before we select. Okay, That's duplicate and move do is to decide here, tap away. So now we have another insect or butterfly that is here. So now you can create an ADA design. Let's create something that looks a bit unusual. So you can really design of whatever you want to design. And after you have drawn all your designs, you can put all the design together and it's going to look really nice. K. Yeah, so for this particular butterfly, I'm going to design it like this. Let me add some strokes to the top here again, a foursome DTUs and is. And once again that's select a wings here and duplicate this. So duplicate mirror. Now you may notice that this part of the wing is overlapping onto this butterfly on the left side. Let's try not to do that because later on when we wanted to select this, it's going to be quite difficult. So let's move this to the right side first. Let's select this whole thing down or move it to the right side. Basically just move it away from this. And let's select the wing again and duplicate mirror and put it here and wrote, Let me just have a wait and see how it looks. I think it looks fine. I perhaps may want to change the color of the wing to something else. So that's and do it again just to make this look a bit more different. So I'm going to select this and change this color to maybe something purple, violet. Let's see how it looks with purple, I think it looks nice. So this, That's arch and G2 is violet as well, a purple, right? I think it looks nice. Let's duplicate this now. Duplicate the Euro and push it to the other side and just tap away. So if we take a look at the layers now we only have two layers, one with the body. And if we turn off the visibility of the body, this is what we get. If we turn off the visibility of the wings, this is what we get. Now if you want to move this butterfly to somewhere else, you have to select this with the Lasso tool and it's a bit inconvenient to always have to use the Lasso to select this. But if I move it somewhere else. So what do we want to do is to group this so that we can select this group very easily. If you're using concepts on IPE hat Dann, you can just select everything and just group it. Unfortunately, for Android at a time off, this version, the concepts on Android doesn't have to grouping feature. So we actually have to put this onto its own layer. So to do that, just use the lasso tool. Select the whole thing here, and tap newly here. This will automatically put this butterfly onto the New Layer. And if you wanted to, you can renamed the year. We're not gonna do that here. So now if you wanted to jars or move this, you can just tap on this layer here and tap on the arrow button. And this will select everything onto this. This will select everything on this layer, which is basically the butterfly. So now if you want to, you can skew it up and down K. The next thing I wanna do is to copy this whole thing and put it onto my other fall. So I'm going to use the Lasso tool to select everything. If you cannot select everything, you have to scale down this canvas. So I'm going to tap on this paperclip icon here to copy these two designs onto the clipboard. Next, I'm going to project folder to look at my other file here. Now these feature of importing vowels or importing our designs using the clip art may or may not be available depending on version of concepts that you are using. So it is for the Android version, it's available, but I'm not sure if it's a paid feature or if it's not a paid feature. Anyway, that's TEM on this picture icon here at the top right, and tap here, paste from clipboard. So now we have imported our two designs earlier here onto this clipboard. That's take a look at the layers to see where they are. So one of the butterfly is on this particularly year. Let me just move these around. Yup, I can move this around. And for this butterfly, okay, It's not group to the body for some reason. So let me just undo this and tap away. So I have to select this kin and tapped a new layer so that it's put onto its own layer. Okay, so let's see what we have here. So for your homework, or you'd have to do is go design or butterflies and moths. And you're going to also use the few 2D who design some texts as well and draw some patterns onto the texts. Now for this, put the letter O. Let me just teach you how to draw this. So if you use the Field tool to draw us the go like this. And you can use this color, I'm going to use white to draw or go like this. And if you want to draw this path than you can use, let's change. Let's use a color that is similar to this knowledge is used to eyedropper and pick maybe a pink color. So if you draw like this, notice that it doesn't look like this. So the order in which you draw, actually very important. So while we wanted to do is to draw this first, and then we can draw the path. And then we can draw the circle here. But you can see that outline, it's not smooth. So what we want to do is to use the eraser or the sliced who to actually delete. A way. At the time of making this video concepts. It doesn't have the clipping mask too, so we are not able to draw within a certain shape. So if you had drawn a circle, if you are using ADA vector software, you can actually draw a circle and draw within the circle. But we've concepts you are not able to do so, which is why you have this additional step or having to actually erase the ages. So let me just erase the ages like this to try to make this myth. This is not going to be as perfect or look as nice as compared to you drawing the circle like this with one stroke because now you're actually going to erase it. Oops, see this site here. It's not smooth. So you have to erase it in such a way that it looks smooth. So day it looks nice. But this is just a workaround. Hopefully in the future concepts we will have additional clipping mask to, to help us draw easily. I don't need this to sort images, delete this. So this is what we have so far now to create a thumbnail that you see here to resize your art. So for example, this is what we have right now. And if you tap here to go back to the project page, that's going to be determining oh, that's used here. Or you can actually just zoom into a particular area here like this. And again, tap away to go back to the project page that is going to be used as a Tammany. Now if your tablet is vertical, this thumbnail will be vertical. That see if I have any examples. Yes, I do have vertical thumbnails as well. So if you want to turn this or make this vertical, you just have to rotate your tablet physically and then zoom out who the project page to capture your thumbnail. So for this, I just want to show the designs, show all the design. So day looks nice here on this project pitch. You can also scale that ham news to make them bigger or smaller. So just use your two fingers to pinch in and out to re-size that thumbnails. So now that I have imported this drawings here, I can actually go ahead and delete this. 7. Let's draw a street scene (part 1/2): For this lesson, we are going to draw something more complicated. We are going to draw this street scene. So for this lesson, I want you to focus on two things. Focus on working on the correct layer. Make sure that the elements that you are drawing go onto the correct layer. So for example, when you're drawing line art, or the line art should be on its own layer when you're coloring, or the coloring should be on their own layer when you are drawing the backgrounds, for example, in this case the buildings, the sky, the clouds. They should be on their own layer so that later on when it comes to adjusting or changing, things are moving things around, It's going to be easier because all the elements are on their own layer. The other thing I want you to focus on is to think about the play of line art and shapes. So for this particular sketch, I actually drew some of the buildings here we've lined up. However, some of the buildings in the background we're actually drawn with just a ship. So it is display our line art of shapes, of positive and negative shapes that make the drawing look interesting. What I mean by positive shapes, obviously, solid colors gains white background. And for negative shapes or negative drawings, we are talking about light or white against Saudi colors like this and this as well. And this is white against solid color. This is going to be a very fun and challenging lesson. By the end of the lesson, I'm very sure that you are going to be very satisfied with what you have accomplished. Let's analyze this reference photo first. So this is a one-point perspective scene. By the way, if you wanted to learn more about drawing perspective, you can check out my other class are drawing perspective. So this scene is quite detail. There is a lot going on. We see a lot of vehicles parked in front of the shop houses. The shop houses, they have windows of different designs, different colors. We have shop houses on the left side as well. We have this dynamic perspective going on. We have light and shadow. We have some tall buildings in the background. So for our drawing, we're going to try and simplify this scene as much as possible. Because if you are going to draw all these details, it's going to get quite overwhelming. So rather than drawing exactly what we see here, we are just going to be using this photo as a reference and as inspiration because this scene is quite complicated. So we'll make it easier by creating some drafting lines first. So once again, create a new Canvas and tap here to make sure that it's starting is set to manual. And we'll choose a pen. You can choose a dynamic pen. That's the stroke, thinner and choose color. I'm going to choose light blue. So what I wanna do is basically draw some drafting lines to help us get perspective and the compensation. And later we can ink over the lines here. And after we ink over the line that we can then delete the lines. At this stage, you don't have to worry too much about the accuracy. You are basically just trying to block in composition. So this is the tall building on the left side. The vanishing point is actually somewhere here, that is a van here. The vanishing point is actually somewhere around a license plate up this fan. It's her out here. Eventually twice around here. So when you draw the diagonal lines, you can diagonalize to the vanishing point. Let me double-check Western vanishing point. All right, so the vanishing point is actually right here. So when you draw those diagonal lines point to that vanishing point. The lines here can be very rough. It's all right. The height of the shot house here it is about the height of this van. So we can draw this line here. And this line we'll tear down first deep to this point here. We have another beauty into background about this height. Would have another tall building here about this high. And we have a lot of cars here. We'll draw those later on. So this is basically a compensation. Going to use, so the lines are a bit lighter right now It's all right. Let's tap here to create a new layer. And this time let's use a black pen. A dynamic pen must choose black. Thing. Works fine. So let's start by drawing the shop houses on the right side. It is going to be a bit challenging because the Harris so many draws, so many things withdraw. So what we wanna do is actually to just draw the beak shapes first using the blue lines that you drew earlier as some guide. So I'm going to draw like really quickly. I'm going to draw a suite of big ships verse and use the big shapes to divide the different shop houses into different segments later on. It is already realized are very sketchy, very loose. Because for this tutorial, for this one vaccine, we are actually not trying to replicate the exact likeness. Again, what I'm trying to do is to get you familiar with the digital drawing workflow using concepts. So here I'm going to use this line to divide second floor and the first floor of the house for the buildings in the background, Elijah are actually very compressed. This is actually the sidewall for this show house here. And we see some windows here, which I'm going to represent as vertical lines. Now these you'll see rocks dream really difficult to see from the photos, so we don't really have to draw their accurately, we just have to suggest the details. Right? So let's go on and draw all the other shop houses. We have some P does now Adi shop houses, they come with some sort of a sunshade. What I wanna do is actually, I'm going to try and divide shop houses first into different sections. That's try and draw. The shop houses with inclines like this. And for the tall buildings later on, we can draw them with solid block toddlers. This is a fan. You can draw fast and loose. Doesn't matter. So for this shot house on the side here, the perspective of the vanishing points somewhere to the right side of this vehicle. So that's drawling this nope, like this. I think it looks fine. There are some sign what's on this side? It's all right. We can draw those later on. I'm going to draw some sun shades here. As the buildings, as you draw the buildings in the foreground are closer to you. The buildings wider and wider. So now I can see this segment. It's much bigger. By the way, I'm not drawing the exact likeness of the photo Angeles. I'm using that as a source of inspiration. So I can see my lines. They are quite news as I'm drawing really fast. And there are some of this green niche pipe at the top that goes down. I mean, just zoom in closer for you to see K. You may want to erase this part as well to create that overlapping fact. K, you can add this to this section. That's draw a vehicle in front. I'm going to draw a vehicle maybe here. Now the vehicle that is here, it's going to align to this van here, to the bottom of this window here. So the top of the vehicle will be at the bottom of this window here. So let's pick the pen again and draw the vehicle. This is the top synced up front is when she'll back of the van. We have a circle here for the wheels. Another circle here for the other. We'll cite window. Audience is very sketchy, so this is how I simplify my sketch. There is another vehicle in front, the top of this vehicle again, we're aligned to the top of this being 0 here. Here's the ego is closer to us, so we need to draw this a bit larger. My lines are very wobbly because this pen is actually quite smooth, a bit slippery on this glass display. So don't worry too much about accuracy. I just wanted you to get comfortable with the drawing process with what's possible when it comes to drawing with concepts. So again, draws on D-Day was here, oops. Or the vehicle that's brought up front here. Okay. All these details you can actually just add damage later on. In this car is pretty much done. You can see it's very loose and sketchy. I shall just keep it. That way. We don't want to draw like that many details. So let's go back and draw the shop houses. For the sun sheets later, I will be drawing them with shapes rather than with line. So at this stage are what I'm doing is basically drawing using light naught. So concept is a very nice because you get a lot of drawing tools, usually with vector drawing apps on you are usually using the shapes to draw, but here you can actually use a pan, use line art to draw in addition to having all these brushes. Okay, So this is what we have so far. I think that this stitch, we can turn off the drafting lines. So now we have a couple of lines on the canvas. Let's tap here to create a new layer, and this will be the color of the year. So let me just rename this color and I'm going to drag this color layer beneath the line art because I want the colors to be behave deadline. So what I want to do now is to maybe draw, draw some trees here. There are some trees here in front of the event right in the background. So for trees I wanted to draw maybe green or maybe with a darker green and green that is not debt striking. Okay, So we have a green here, some green here and some green here. And for the tall building here, I will draw with a light gray or maybe we have a purple. The color that you choose is not important as long as it's a light color, a light value color. So I'm going to choose this purple or violet. Later on we need to add the shadow. We have a darker color. So let's draw out a shape here. Is K. So there are some costs shadow on this tall beauty. So that's picked is darker violet here to draw the cast shadow. Is. Okay. There is shadow here as well. Now at this point I realized that I should have drawn the background building first and ended tree later on because I'm Petrie is actually in front of the building. If you look at the reference photo. Okay, So we have, we actually have a y 2 butene right here. So I'm going to change to my line, art. Liter K2. Draw that white building just to draw the top of the white beauty and switch back to the color layer for the top yielding. Here, we are going to choose a blue green. So I'm going to choose these BB 23. So yep, That's draw. So we need to draw this shape here. Let's start from the bottom. And here we have a diagonal line or to the right side come down and we have something like this. So this part here, it's not drawn properly, so I mean, just drawing out a shape here. So now this is actually, ooh ships one, a big 11, small one. If you wanted to change the color of the building later on easily, you should draw this as one single shape. So that's tried at. This will allow you to make adjustments later on. But if you don't need to make any adjustments later on, you can just keep adding shapes. Cb I've drawn the ship inaccurately in the first place. Okay, So for this getting in the background, notice we are drawing them as college shapes we deny use any line art for buildings in the background. We actually are not able to see a lot of beat heroes. They are smaller. So we actually can choose not to include a line art, but you can include the line art if you want to just use very thin lines. Here, I wanted to use color shifts because i 1 disputing to be different compared to the line art. So make sure we asked you on the color layer. And let's pick a darker color to draw some designs here. As draw this side of this building here. We have some designs here. Okay, let me see what's happening here. Okay? This line is supposed to be horizontal, but I've drawn, it. Doesn't matter. There may be, for this particular sketch, I am just using a photo as a reference or this could be a tip that building this for the top, you could be a tutor beauty. And here we have some windows. We can also use this to add some DTUs k. This is looking good. Let's change the color to something lighter. So now we have this beauty in the background. You can also add some details today is butene here on the left side as well. And that's carried on to draw this building here. So for this building, I want to draw it with a darker color. Maybe we can use the same color here. Let's use the same color. So let me just use the few to tap here to see if we can get the IP color, sorry, the eyedropper audit, our picker. And for this building here, it's about two buildings to the right size or one to just dot here. The height will be here. Go up, come down very sharply like this. I may have to draw it a few times just to get that shape. All right? Okay. We have this side here which is in shadow, so we need something a bit darker. We see some white patterns going on. So what a wide, I'm just going to choose white. Now, the bad chorale is now just by colors. So if you want to add this guy, you can do so. Should we add as typhus? Let's try that. Let's try. So sometimes when I'm drawing, I may get the order wrong. So sometimes he may be good to add this dy first and draw the buildings then draw the tree. But the thing is when I'm working, sometimes I do get the order wrong. However, as you get more comfortable, more familiar with concepts, the order in which you use E will become second nature to you. So let's create a new layer and poets guy. Okay, so for the sky That's choose a few brush and choose a pastel sky. Maybe this, I think this looks nice. So let's choose this. So make sure that your sky layer is behind buildings. Case. So this is what we have sky earlier. And now let's go back to the color layer to draw the white stripes here, we're going to use the field brush as well. And that's used is white. And we can draw the pet thens here. So 1, 2, 3, or 5. There are actually more because this building is quite tall, so audience are actually much smaller. Okay, I think this looks good enough. This is what we have if we turn off this guide is, is how it looks. So you can choose to turn on or turn off the sky. We have another tall building here on the right side. Let's go to the color layer and choose another color for this whole building here. Okay? I shall leave this as it is right now. Time to draw the windows here. For the windows, I will not be drawing them with line on our pages. I'll just be coloring them with line art. So go to the color layer and choose whatever color you like for the windows, you can look at the reference photo for inspiration, but you don't actually have to use the same toddler. So we have one window here which is green. I'm going to pick a dynamic pen and choose white. So for a wide every drawing the windows like this, just to add some details. So what I want you to do now is to draw basically all the other windows here. This particular window here is going to be open. So I want to use black shape here to draw the open window and then use this color to draw the window here, and then use this dynamic pen to draw the patterns here. Okay, so for this block on the left side, I'm going to color this may be re so some of the I shop houses will be just white background, so I'm going to be colored. Some can be lighter color as well. So here I can draw a window. Let's use white PR helps. So what I want you to do is basically play around with the shapes. So you can have solid colors begins wide, or you can have white against solid colors. So mics around, mix and match so that you can get some interesting. We're getting details. And when you draw the buildings in background, you may want to say adjust the thickness of the pen just to make the Allies Dina. Because elements in the background, they are going to be smaller, everything is going to be thinner as well. 8. Let's draw a street scene (part 2/2): Okay, So this is what we have so far. For the sand sheets. Let's create a new layer for them. So that's rename this layer sun sheets. That's have rate or orange sun sheet here. Again, I am not copying exactly what I see. So this is one sunshade here. On this part here you see DSR, circular, circular plots on they are supposed to be green or red or orange or some other color. We will cover them later. We need to draw the sun shape first, because this is below this part. So we can choose our two colors. Just choose whatever color you like and draw. These are shapes here. Let's have a blue. Some of the design sheets are not deployed. Sodium will look like this. Some are actually deploy. So do you live like this? While there are actually a lot, some of going all the way to the back. Now when you're drawing, sometimes it's good again to just zoom out to see what you have. Okay, So this is what we have so far. Let's put another sunshield just right here in the foreground. Hopes. Because we are drawing with the fuchsia, we need to actually draw the shape. We can't draw them as if we are drawing the line art case. So this is why we have so far it's looking very nice. Let's colored circular things. So for the circular things that's used a green, a dao green. So it's the one I'm doing is just throwing data shape here like this. I am not filling into the circle because I mean you can, if you want a neater look, but when I'm doing this, it makes the sketch on this drawing look more sketchy. Okay, So this is what we have so far. And there are some sign boards as well. We can draw the same box as well. The signposts where we in front of the maybe you should draw them later on. So let's draw maybe a sidebar here. Notice how it overlaps onto the line art and onto the collar. You can also draw a sine ball hanging by the side of this building here like this. This will be the front of the sign, but you need to have some thickness, so that's choose or darker color here. Just to draw this thickness for this. And gp120, you can ask DTUs, I'm going to choose white or rate. Because this is a solid color, we need to choose a lighter colored hue, create some contrast. So I'm using white or you can use read as well. Raid against yellow is a good combination. Basically what you need is contrast. So we have assigned bought here and other sign, but here you can add more same bought CPU 1, 2. I'm going to use this few shipped to add and not assign one here. Okay, maybe another one here, a circular one. And this one will have this holder here to hold a sign bought. So this is why we have so far a very colorful sketch without a lot of detail. This is very simplified. You can see I did not even draw the line I for some of this things here. K. So let's see what we have here. Let's go back to the sunshade, the year and maybe use a white pen to add some DTUs. Or you can ask Sam, our pet then to the sun sheet as well. So for this, maybe I want to choose a white field brush to S, details like this. K that's colored a vehicle to vehicle. And let's go back to the color layer. So by now, I hope you guys should be very familiar with the coloring process. The main thing really is to make sure that you are. I'm coloring on to the correct layer as the most important thing. Don't use black. Because if you use black, I mean you can use black. If you choose not to use black, you can actually have your us to show off your line art. But if you use like black, then I may show you an example. If you use black, then your line art will be lost like this. But black heavy used to create ETL as well. For the bottom of the vehicle, the shadow is black. The cast shadow often is just pure black. So you can do that to add the shadows at the bottom and don't. Colored or field is part with black because you can still see through to some of the light behind. And let's add some lights because this, the front here is just like two dots. So as change to your lighter color to add some lights here to draw the other cars in the background. I am not going to use line art, instead I'm going to use shapes. So let's draw the orange car and back. Drawing cars even shapes is a bit challenging. So you really have to imagine how the car is going to look like before you draw. Let's see, maybe it looks like this. Nope. It is too difficult. You can actually just choose to use their dynamic pen. Just draw. Let me see. You. Should I draw the car here? Yeah, I shouldn't draw the car behind. So just use the dynamic pen, choose the appropriate color and draw that car. This is the holder. A place where had abuse are. You have another one. So now that you have this ship here, you can use the few to, to feel this color. Oops, this is not the correct color. So let me use the eyedropper k. So now you can have this shape here. Change the color to black too broad a Wheels here. And let's zoom out to see how that colleagues. So the causing the foreground we'll be drawing with line art and color before the cosmic background. You can just draw them with colored shapes. So this is what we have so far. I may also want to color this site here. Let's just color all the windows here and vehicle here. So I'm going to use, I'm going to use maybe nicer colors, more vibrant colors. Switch between this red and orange. Sh. I don't have to use lines to separate the buildings. I'm just using these colors that I have two separate meetings. Oops, wrong. Okay, So I need to draw a sign-in sheet here. I need to actually think about how that sign-in sheet we'll actually look. And now I can draw it a Windows using line art. Now this part here will be in shadow. So later on we can actually draw some shadow to overlay here. That's colored is vehicle with a light violet color here. And the lack. Now, you may want to work fast to get a sketchy look or you may work slower to get a more, a neater look is really up to you. So here notice I'm just painting into ships using just block colors. I want to draw the bottom here, so I'm just going to use solid black or maybe not black, just a very warm dark color like this. K. This, and I can use black now to draw extra details here. For this part here that's use a warm color, not a black, but it's something really dark. K, that's feel this here as well. Let's create a new layer for this shadow. So I'm going to click does feel brush again. And this time I'm going to pick a dark gray but reduce the opacity down to something maybe 30 percent. That's try and see what we can get when we draw this. I think is color looks nice. Maybe that's McNeil is a bit more. Make it a bit darker. Okay, I think the shadow looks nice. So let's draw this property. Sometimes I would draw things really quickly just to test how they look before I draw them more accurately. Okay, So we have some cast shadow from this building and some cache shadow from this building in the background. Right here in the background there is actually, let me switch to the color layer to make sure I'm drawing on currently here. And let's choose a black. For this, the ground, sorry, the horizon line is somewhere around here. So I'm going to just place this back here. And for the shop houses here, I'm just going to use this to draw the shapes books. So all these will be used to create the shapes. I may want to create a layer. Soho there I can place the dark, the black's behind the cars. It'll be easier that way rather than drawing or using the colors on the same layer as the colors. So that's placed these new layer below. Let's call this layer the shop. How's our shadows? Okay, so now it's easier to draw these colors behind or the vehicles. So I'm going to draw like this. You can also draw quite fast here. This. So notice as I place the shadows, sketches starting to come alive. Now all these white areas here are actually the pilus K for this part here Let's move to the line art. I'm going to chose to draw this with, true to draw this we knew with line art. So that's rod is really quickly. Let's go back to the shadow layer, basically the layer with this shadow. And choose the fuel. Brush again. Choose the same shadow color and paint the shadow here beneath the roof. Okay, This is looking really nice. Again, add some shadows here as well, and some shadows to the bottom of this on buildings here. You can add some shadows here as well. And here, k. Right now. So this is what we have so far, the clouds, sorry, where is this guy has put a sky back? That's half. The sky is a bit PW for my liking. So let's tap on the sky layer, select the sky with the arrow tool and make this make this boulder blue and see what we have here. I think that looks all right, it looks fine. You can create another layer for the clouds. Let's rename the layer clouds and choose a few brush again this time, let's choose white K. I think this looks alright. Maybe that's how cloud here. And that's the Cloud gives the class I'm shadow. Too dark. Just a subtle shadow beneath. That's at some detail to this building here. So for the building, It's on the color layer. So let's just choose the color of the year. Use the dynamic brush, changed the color to white. And again, draw some details here. Oops. The DTU on this building is actually hexagonal. So just draw this simple pattern here. If you wanted to, you can really go and draw the hexagon. Oh, but I guess I'm not that patient, so I'm just going to draw it with this very sketchy look. Alright. So far this scene is looking great. I am, I say you can't continue to add more details like additional line art to areas where you have gotten to draw the windows here, I'm just going to replace down with just some dots. There are also more Cassio, you can draw more costs if you want to. I shall just live them, say R. And now for the final details, I want to create a new layer to draw a lamppost and street science. So I have created a new layer right at the top to overlap all this. That's renamed this lamppost and street signs, right? So let's choose a dynamic brush. As choose black. As this. Too thick. If it's too thick now and you can make it thinner, just draw this lamppost here to overlap the buildings. Okay, We have one lampposts here. And for this side here, I wanted to add a street sign. And so that's draw a street sign wave does darker gray. That's overlapped by muting here. You know what, maybe we should create a new layer, just fought a street sign. So if we don't like where the street sign is, we can easily move that street sign somewhere else. So I'm going to draw it here. Let's draw something like this. K. And we can draw, use orange shape. Use the orange feel too. To draw this part here. This will be pointing to the vanishing point. And I'm going to draw another shape right at the top, maybe a light gray. Okay, this is nice, or you can draw this with line art as well if you want to. You can try different variations. Just create a variation is on different layers. So now I want to use is on Ray dynamic brush. Now I'm going to choose the Fill brush, change it to this darker gray. I'm going to draw this sign here, which is a no crossing sign. There's a person standing here trying to cross the road. And that's change to change the fill color to rate k. And we have this sign here. All right. And let's add some details to the bottom. So I mean some widths to this point here. Oops. Actually this is in black, so maybe let's choose black arrow. Oh, yes, this is not black. This is black. So this is what I have so far. Now in this street side doesn't look that great harm you care and move it somewhere else. Maybe move it here and see how it looks. If it doesn't look great. You can also turn off the visibility and draw a new one, which is what I'm gonna do. So let's just draw a new one here. K. And notice for this new sign BAD, it's actually transparent. This is just a different style that I am trying. I'm still going to use the field to create the darker gray for the pedestrian sign. And black to draw the person. And then we have rate again to draw the o crossing a sign. That's happy yellow here, or Orange for the history psi here, they should go behind. So if you draw like this, it's not going to look good. Maybe he does item I'm not sure. You really have to try and see how it looks. So earlier I had the arrow in black. Now I'm trying to arrow in white. And also this, you can see it's transparent. So if you want to make this opaque, you can create a new layer and pushed at layer behind sidebar and dense royal white. Hopes, I may choose the correct brush, used a few brush and draw a white behind assigned bot. And then much does to leaders to gather, rename ups. I mean undo, merge those two layers together and call this layer sign. Okay, so this is what we have so far. Now let's turn on the earliest sign bought that we drew. That's selected sign, but yeah, so that's sine bodice here. You can choose between the two. You don't want to waste your effort. You can actually just select this because it's on its own layer. Reduce the size here, and maybe put it in the background there. Yeah, I think it looks all right. Or maybe that's just Hi dad. Such as high-tech. And for this sign here, That's move it around to see if we can place it. Better locations. You can also skew the sign if you want to. See. That's MIMD is silent really being and see how it looks. Okay. Does it look good? No, it looks a bit weird. So that's pleased it back to where it was, but I don't want to add a 1D assigned to maybe block this building behind. So yeah, just play around with where it's best to where to put our site. Let me just put it right here. You can choose to stop at this stage because I think it already looks pretty good. Or you can choose to add more DTUs if you choose to add more details, my recommendation for you is to actually do bucket a foul, just tap on the thumbnail and do bucket and work on your pubic kit so that if it doesn't look good later on, eukaryotes do a fall back onto your original drawing. So here is another version of this drawing. This is even more stylized. You can see I only drew a few lines for the buildings, some lines for the vehicles. The street signs aren't they don't have details as well, but it is still looks pretty good. I actually kind of like this because it's a play on the line art as well as with the shapes. And I think this looks good. Burn without any details. So here's a side-by-side comparison with the two versions that I drew. They are the same scene but colored and drawn in different style, so to speak. 9. Goodbye: So this is the end of the costs. I hope you enjoyed the cost. You can share your work online on your social media or pages on your blog. This is also a great way to archival work so that you can refer to them in the future. And you can also see how much you have improved. And before you go, you can help me out by reviewing this costs. Let me and others know what you think about this cost. Alright, thanks for learning and falling along. See you in the next course.
