1. Class howToDraw part 1 introduction: Hello and welcome to the tutorial. Before we begin, I'd like to just quickly introduce myself. My name is called Read, the mixed media artist and create as well across a number of disciplines. Some such as sculpture and painting, drawing, illustration, animation, and game creation, using traditional and digital methods, 2D and 3D alike. I go by the name called space or space, read on YouTube and color read everywhere else. A post-doc work regularly on my YouTube channel and Tumblr. And off days with sneak peeks on tiktok. Laughter, thank you for selecting this tutorial and me as your tutor. I should do my best. With that being said, let's get into today's tutorial. We're going to be looking at the simple shapes to allow us to draw hair the way we want. Say I'm provide a perfect place for us to then go ahead and detail them or leave them as they are, enough information will be provided in the base so you get the idea of how it is formed to further extend your knowledge. Facial hair, check out my eyebrows tutorial also available on this platform. Let's begin. 2. Class howToDraw part 2 hairStrands: Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Today we are guaranteed to land how to draw hair. Now is a very, very tricky, tricky topic in the space. And there's loads of ways that you can draw hair. So I'm not going to be able to get through all of them in this particular tutorial. Now I may either add to this tutorial, so keep checking back or I made the new ones the explores all different areas and elements. If, you know, drawing half, for example, like basic, intermediate or advanced. And, and maybe even different hairstyles and things like that at some point as well. But for now, what I want to do is get you all started so that you can, so that you can draw some really nice looking effectively. And you know, so things to look out for that will enhance your hair and your characters if you are drawing your hair on your characters and your story straight. All right, let's get started. So one would need to do is draw a circle. Why we join a circle? Because we are going to put the hair on our circle. Circle is guarantee represent character's head. Okay. All persons had, right? Okay, So I'm gonna draw a circle just like that. That's going to be archived his head. And now what we're going to do is we are guarantee frozen has. So what I want you to do is we'll do a little bit of practice down here, fists, livable space on your paper. And literally what would, I would draw a rectangle. Okay? So there's going to be like a vertical rectangle. We'll just draw it like that. Nice and easy. We got. Okay, right, So now we've done that rectangle. What we can acknowledge is this rectangle pretty much represents like a hair strand. Okay? So for this particular example as well, by the way, why do you have in mind is so if like a long hedge fund coming from a female, female head, now, obviously males can have long hashed runs as well. We'll focus on a female head right now for this particular example just to get the idea across. Okay, so just so we're all on the same page, right? In this example. So we've drawn the rectangle. Now what we're going to do is we're going to do the same again, but at the bottom is going to point, okay? So we'll draw exactly the same again, one right next to it. And then we'll come in and we'll point like, okay, just like this. Then we'll point, okay. Now, what we're gonna do is we're going to do exactly the same as this again, but we're going to make it much, much, much. Okay. So we're going to do exactly the same shape, but we're going to make a really thin, Okay? Right. Now, this shapes essentially is the perfect tool to use as a hash round. Okay, Now at the top, obviously, if we were putting this on archives, his head, dependent on what else is on the character's head, for example, hearts or something like that, then you probably just stop there. But if not, then what we would do is we would round this out and this would join to the center of the head. Now, one of the things to pay attention to is where the characters or the person's crown is. The crown is basically where the hair roots stem out of. So basically the, the crown of hair style or peasants had the chairman's, the hairstyle, how the hair grows and flows out of the head or the peasants had, okay. 3. Class howToDraw part 3 hairStrandsAndClumps: Right, So now what we're going today is we are going to add strands like this to our head that we've drawn here. Okay? So we're going to do that now. We're going to draw them slightly shorter as well because we haven't gone up much space head as well. You might have ice cream shops. So I'm going to draw the shrines on this side. Okay, So we're literally going to do the same process. So we're going to draw them straight and we're going to draw them Fen, okay. Now this is going to come off and like I said, is going to round off, bring this closer. It's going to round off at the top. And then the particular crown on this example is going to be along the center of the head. So it's going to be like if you imagine this patient had a Mohican, It would go the patients crown would go is a strip all the way to the back of the head. Okay? Now, in this example actually is also changed the angle opposite the opaque just to show you the person's crown, Okay? Just so that you can get an idea of how, how has set in flow and all that kind of stuff, right? So one day you can change those to draw two lines going overhead, right? Then what we're gonna do is we're going to come back to our hair strands and we're going to come round the head. Literally follow the, the, the console if you like, round here. And we're going to link in with the hashtag and right. And then what we're gonna do is we're going to do exactly the same again. Okay? So we'll go around K, come down, and would draw points. Okay. Just like that. Right? Now, depending on the person's hair, what may tends to happen is the pacing. If you, if you imagine looking at this particular place in, from the side, what their hair might do that a row has shape, is Eva, be level like this. Okay. So you've got all the hair coming down haha, like that, right. So B level like this or what the ham Mayday is, come all the way down. Okay. Then it may type it like that. Okay. So, and there's tons of different styles. These are just two. This is, this is why I have to be very so tie on the structure of this tutorial because the amount of variation of hairstyles that you can have on any one person is, is pretty much limitless. So obviously depending on how much they had graze on that person. And yeah, you can get so many different types of styles, etc. So keep that in mind. But we'll go back to our example here and we'll finish off what we were doing. Say, we alluded to this hashed runs and we're going to get shorter each time with these. So we'll do the points again. And we'll draw another strand. And we'll draw another strand. That's off with the head. Likes done. Okay, so that's one side, one side of the head. And then what we could do is we can do the other side exactly the same. So let's do that. So exactly the same principle. Come down, which is essentially drawing the shape with the points at the very bottom. Come up. Then round to meet the sensory portion. Okay? Then we'll do the same again, down again and point. Now remember what we're doing is we're going to get shorter each time with a hashed runs so that we can get that sort of effects. Okay? So where the hair tapers and get shorter, the Bacchae guys, Like I say, that's what we're, that's essentially what we're doing here. Excuse me. And also in this particular view, perspective does play a role as well. So that is why we are doing z's. Oh my gosh. Right. So yeah. So we did I think we've got two more strands. Yeah. Chemosh transaminase it. I should do this head of hair. So I draw along with me regularly, Yoda looking awesome. Who pad 10. Well, whether you consider this awesome or not. Right? So as you can already probably tell, if you're following along during hair can be quite time-consuming, resource heavy. So obviously you've got a soil. Keep in mind the level of detail that you'll guarantee. Now, this example, this particular example that we did, shows obviously why it takes, if you are doing these, these usually cook like clumps of hair combs, right? Well, we can call them strands as well. I like to actually call. So if the strands like the sow single lines, so a single one line, that would be a srand and these will be combs. Okay? So normally, when you join your hair, if you want to keep it simple and effective, then you can either use this technique where you draw pretty much the whole shape of the head of hair, right? And then what you can do is you can separate it into portions. Okay? Because people do actually have like hairstyles, like the SDKs, what a hairdresser or baba May Day is, trim. The hair is on a perfect straight. Same with same with the bottom. Okay. And then what you could do is separate the shape like PSI, okay? Rather than adding the points at the end. Okay? So you can do it this way as well and just literally draw your shape. And then you separate it into clumps and strands. Okay? Now, if you look in a little more detail, obviously candy things like this. If it requires with your character and against out as play a part in a, you can start your cards at this. We consider stylized. And it's not like totally realistic or anything like that. But obviously, if you are drawing realistic hair, you can use this as a base. And then obviously definitely use your references a base. And really haven't honed in on how the Harris surprised luck, okay. And obviously the ad and go in more detail. You can add your strands in with your clumps of hair, okay. And another tutorial to look at as well, one which I've released as well, or the eyebrow tutorials and any facial hair tutorials as they will play a part in how you do the hair on a person's head. For example, if the patients have is curly and all kinds of stuff like that. Because yeah, it just adds a lot of them, a lot of nuances that can improve your drawing Where's has concerned, okay, so check out those tutorials. And once you've watched this, if you haven't already, is a will a will up your overall understanding of how hair forms on the head and other areas, etc. We will go through these on this tutorial. Don't worry. Definitely check those out so you get a more rounded. So perspective on, okay. 4. Class howToDraw part 4 strandsAndClumpsTipsAndTricks: So we've acknowledged that we can use combinations such as hash trans and clumps. So you get nice looking. Okay? And obviously, even with this example, what we could do is we can make these even thinner. So then it becomes even more detail. But again, like Poseidon, so many of my other tutorials keep in mind about how long it's taking you to draw your drawings. Because if you're doing long projects, then it can really help you in the long run. So obviously, make sure you're doing it has 1000 manageable to draw over and over again, repeatedly. Okay. And obviously nice logo cause like this where you can hair by rho hat shape. And then you can solve segments. You can segment the shape out like this, which is, which is really nice and you can get as detailed as you like with these examples, okay? And you could even do larger logic loams is totally OTA as the artist, okay. 5. Class howToDraw part 5 curls: Right? So that's one example. Now, obviously, there's another example that we could do, which is like less, less. Let's do a curly hair for example. With the curly hair. Curly hair does not get enough love. Right? So we'll draw a circle against I draw along with me, or you circle. Obviously this is going to represent occurrences had rights. We've done straight hair pretty much we could, could have gone straight over. This gets the idea across. Now we'll do a little example of Kelly hat. Okay? Say, well we can do is, we can tell like this. And we can let, literally draw like M. So spirals has had right. Now, obviously. There are all kinds of different sizes of Coase, smokers, large scales, etc, etc. So obviously you will have to pay that and keep my mind beforehand. Before DNA. Once we did start doing it, we can, we can go ahead with that. And we can just do a nice simple spiral. So all around the peasants had, now say for example, the patient has, showed kelly have like an example that I've Shiji here. Then we can get away with that. Last totally fine. And again, we can have like Kelly hashed runs to. So if you add base to it, I mean, looking at it like that, that looks totally fine as well. And it's quite simple and fast to draw. So we could do it like that. Now we could also, by using the same example, we could the smaller cells, which would obviously take us much longer, be wary of that. We could've done logicals which would have been faster. Or we could have done this type of kernel as well, which was, which is quite quick as well. Okay, so that's an advantage of having drawing curly hair like this as opposed to drawing long straight strands. Okay? So that's something to keep in mind as well. And obviously we can do other things like wavy hair. So I'm going to draw another circle. So if you haven't already done the Kells and things like that, then give it a try and see what you think on your example. Okay. 6. Class howToDraw part 6 wavy: Right, So now to another example would be wavy has, if you draw another circle, we're going to be joined a law circles today and next example shows me, right? Okay, so we've got our circle, right? And now what we can do is wavy hair. So basically last row, this maybe from the partner, material from the front. So what we can actually do is we can draw the hair coming from the crown region. Remember, we've got the crown is whether the hair grows from the roots and stems from, right? And then we can draw from the back of the crown and then make it wavy. Like that. Okay. Sam again. Okay. And make it wavy. Now. Now that we've got wavy, wavy hair examples, we can do several things. So what we can do is we can copy, copy the wave on this side, right? On, in portion of the hair light side. Right. And then points off just the same on this side. I'm preparing my ladies and gentleman. I'm not doing it totally photorealistic hair in this tutorial teaching you the principles to then take this and then do it yourselves. And if you wanted to do realistic head, is the these principles apply to both stylized hair unfolds a realistic head sheets with photorealistic hair. You can really need to get into the nitty-gritty of the details and take, take your time on. Is very resource heavy, doing fire realistic how you're going to really need to take time on that. Pay attention to the details you reference and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. You just going to be you're going to be taken a while dividend. Okay? So thus, thus the difference, basically it's not like doing a realistic has massively different technique from all of this kind of stuff. It's just, there is a lot more resource heavy, for example. With this, we could say, maybe tidy this up. If I realistic with this, whereby we're going into each shape and drawing each individual strand genome with high definition in accuracy and all of that kind of stuff. To get the look that you're looking for, that photo realistic look, okay? But basically it's the same principle, right? There's no real difference is just about accuracy using the reference. I'm taking Resources, lot resources to get the effect that you need to to create photo-realistic looking hair. Okay, So just a quick note. Just thought, I'd throw that in JSTOR. Let you know the difference whereby there isn't much. Okay, so, yeah. So we've drawn our wavy hair shape it just here. Now. Again, what we could do is we can add strands if you want say, or we can segment the waves. If we want, say, just like we have here, okay? Oh, we could leave it like that because it's a nice clean shape. It gets the idea across. And we know, hey, this is coming from the peasants had, okay. So again, I'm only going to see a few examples of this. And just because again, I'm wary of being to resource, have ISA had a when you sit in there? Well, audio is given given the hair, a try and I having a long play with it and all that kinda stuff like that. The median on the tutorial I think will be a bit, a bit, a bit drain and v guys in a bit heavy side. So just the skin itself. Okay. But I'm not going to leave Gaza and colds I give you guys are in a, right, so we've got the root region here. So we've got the like set the crown. She's right out there. And also obviously the very, very base of where the hair comes up and joins all the ladies omega S, that's where your roots are, okay? Right? Now sometimes I have seen on some drawings as well, they sort of emphasize the transition from the roots into the main body of hair. So you can do that as well. You know, these little striations and then just leave the rest of the half flowering. Or you can follow the flow of the hair and draw it all the way. Okay? And again, the Nissan, each drawing will literally kick your bot. So just keep in mind why you are there in SAK are decided on every tutorial. Just say that Euro mindful said almost didn't really mindful of why they're doing this and are they using their resources in the right place, etc. And because they can really help you and be mindful of vacuum, really help you be more effective with your projects, especially if they're longer projects, okay? And obviously if you're doing laughter and then you'll probably go into more detail or not. It's totally up to you again as the artist. Okay, So just two examples there. Again, you get the idea like we could, we could then go in and separate the hair and clumps. And she runs again just like this, okay, but that's how to draw a wavy hair. Vasa, how to draw and Kelly had as well. And straight hair. Right. 7. Class howToDraw part 7 afro: Now let's look at different. So let's look at a Afro hair. Okay, so we draw another circle down here. And let's see shortly on a new page, let me just see if I can fit it in or I may have to overlap on asleep on the, on the page. There we go. Right side. If we're doing afro have four along with me. Drone of a circle. How did you guys already know that? I was going to say that if psi was gonna say psychopaths and I know psychopaths, you telepathic status the warehouse looking for. I apologize that you tell you clever telepathic you. How did you know I was gonna say that, right? So what we're gonna do is we're going to draw another circle. And on this head, right? And this is going to be tougher head shape. Okay? So the LIDAR, PA, nice and easy. And then we've got an afro hairstyle. Okay. Now, in a lot of illustrations, again, like I said, you organs, he wants to be mindful of the amount of resources to expand on your drawings current stock. So if you're doing afraid, I would recommend sticking with just the shape. Same as most has really stick with just the shape unnecessarily reason that you need to guarantee depth and detail. So say for example, you again into detail. This Afro hair for her usually has Tycho's right. Really tight curls. So you would be like doing cycles within the WHO average base, okay? Unless a person has curly hair like in the previous page example, in the previous page example, what we could do is large kills you. So if the Afro hair type of shape, okay? And like with the large kills, that would be a lot easier to achieve. To achieve, sorry, the black people don't normally have loose, loose curls unless they have done something to the hair and style their hair. So relax the FDA makes sense. So the COS end up being much larger, like the example that I showed you on the previous page. Okay? So keep that in mind. So that's where obviously drawing the shape of whatever hairstyle can come in handy because you can get the idea across without having to do all the actual work. Okay? Right. So that's our forehead. Obviously with Afro hair, you can get all kinds of different sizes, styles, and shapes. For example, back in the late seventies, eighties, there was like the kid and play hacker or hairstyle, right? So basically and I have this hairstyle as well. It's confessions. Confessions are right, So let's draw a circle. So this was a hairstyle that a lot of people had late seventies and eighties, kid, kid and play hacker. Why you left side on the internet? Because it's just hard to explain, but I'll demo vast, right? So what you had was like a show fade, right? Shoe ad show fade that. Okay. So it would be here, right? You'd have a show fade there then all of this shape, but Sophie had would be just like anaphora. So you've got Tycho's know what kind of stuff like that. Then as you get down, hey, you've got like a show fade or pattern. Okay, so some people had like RNA stripes in the patents and things like that. And also in Africa hair as well. And yeah, you can do this, no other people's hair as well. But it comes across much more effectively in Afro hair because the cosmos tighter. So actually looks like graphic is you can obviously do patterns in a person's head, right? So, yeah, so there's all kinds of things like that. 8. Class howToDraw part 8 dropCurls: Some of the other shapes that we may want to pay attention to are things like braids. Okay? And these are called different names all across the board, right? So then you've also got zigzag cows as well. Now this isn't, this isn't particularly, it does occur in black hair as well, but the zigzag co, fat, you can get in almost any hairstyle as well. So what that tends to look like a wave actually, we were actually draw the head for this particular example. But if you do draw like a zigzag like that, that is basically the effect of the hair portrays, right? So if we copy that shape with the zigzag. So I say, we like this. This is really rough, right? So draw along with me. So it's almost like a PDQ tail or my Pokemon funds. I'm talking about everyone nice. Pq is famous. He's so famous eating wear shades now, Right? Okay. Pq must get past it while shopping so much. Okay? Little tangent there. And say now we've drawn. So if a wavy hair, which can be achieved by like sort of kill rollers and things like that. But some people do so naturally have so zigzag, wavy, curly hair. You can do exactly the same as I said on the previous examples whereby now that you've got the shape, you can divide it into two strands if needs be. Okay. Just like the data on your drawings as well. And then we'll do one more, right? And just literally just follow the shape and get those hashed runs in. Right? And Voila, Okay, now to draw this again, because I drew it out very simply. And we do a much more accurate version. You go into Endo with shaped like this, or if you draw this along with me, this whole cycle I want on. So we're going to draw diagonally down and we get a draw down with, okay. And we're gonna draw diagonally down this way. So ends up forming so of like a, let's say. So if like a reverse, all like D-shaped but without the direct angle down vertically. And then a little bit this way. Okay. So that's the kind of shape that we try and say Forensic rate, right? So in a day that okay. And then what we're gonna do is we're going to cross section over here, okay? So actually cross this region here, right? And then we're going to draw a similar thing. Now this is much easier using straight lines. So the cells are favoring user straight lines. Don't don't curve because it Oh, it could screw you over. Okay. Right. And we're going to do one more just like that. Okay, So we're going to cross section here again. Write in a lean a bit famous scholar fly. And we're going to come straight down, right? Follow along with me. Then we're going to come all the way here right now, mainly going to draw a pepper portion of this sort of wavy, curly hair. Just to sort of give you an idea. Obviously, you could draw a longer, you could draw shorts and all kinds of variations again, okay, right. So now on top here, we're going to come right down, okay. The half of the way. Then. We're going to create an impression of a cross-section now, right? Then we wrote down, pause this point here. We're going to go past that you see here. And that is going to join to the top region here and create like another curl, basically mimicking the shape here. And same again, we're going to do that here. So we are going to mimic this shape here and here, and this shape, this bottom part, here and here, okay. And that's what creates that nice. Wavy hair can be achieved by heterologous is really nice, beautiful effect. Many ladies and, and show some guys, She's datas. And some people have this have this head or type of hair style naturally as well by hand naturally kills like this as well. So draw along with me. So yeah. And it's a really beautiful hast also have say, yeah, if you have this type of hair already, Shao in the comments, lucky, right? We will love you forever, right? I think mangroves so much in nowadays you see which ads I open up my hair off the plane, right? Okay. Right. So, and what we did is an amine. We can carry this shape on, right? We can carry this shape on down with what we can do is we can, so join it to a point. It's totally up to you or leave out CA, but basically, I just basically wanted to highlight just a few of the minor differences. Okay, this is pretty much the same shape. We've made some small tweaks whereby, for example, this line, we continue a bit further. So it creates that sort of effect whereby you've got like layers. Layering is what's going on here. And so if depth, okay, So it does, That's all we've done here. And then we can continue doing the same thing is here, whereby we did the individual striations and things like that. But I'm not gonna do this. I'm not ready that on this particular example because I didn't feel that that would necessarily assist. You. Just know that you can do that within this to achieve really nice-looking, so wavy, curly hair and even just leaving it like that, that looks really nice. If you were to again, do what we did in the previous page, whereby you're doing a lush runs like this, then you will achieve a really nice-looking hair. I finish. Okay, so it's totally up to you how you want to do that, and if you want to add strands, chiefdom on knots, etc, etc. Another thing to bear in mind, I'll say this now because this actually this play, play a part into it is if you are detailing inherent in all the constraints and things like that, bear in mind that when a person is looking at, because you have so many strands, if you haven't don't know is perfectly accurately or in a very mindful way. It can just look like an absolute mess like spaghetti. And you try and work out what is what. So bear in mind, be mindful about when and where you join. So strands, clumps and if you are detailing them, see that degree or not. Okay? Because it's not always good thing to throw in all the detail like sub four because one, it takes love resource, can be resource heavy so it can extend the length of your projects, but also things like this, like if you don't do it correctly, imperfectly, inaccurately, which obviously is where a lot of resources come into it, then it can just look like an absolute mess and so detracts in and taken away from your drawing and you have styles. Okay, so keep that in mind. That's very, very important to bear in mind as well. Okay, Cool. 9. Class howToDraw part 9 spikey: Right, Let's see what other type of hair styles we should day, right? So we've done curly with curls. Let's do this. So you turn and say, we'll call this wavy kills off with all kinds of crazy names, right? So you've got offer. We say kid and play against artists on the Internet. You'll see why when kid and play, we'll say style offer. Right? So, so after I will don't curly hair and we've done straight hair. So let's see what else could we do? And let's do some short hair examples. Preserved. Be pretty cool. Oh, and we could even day so like a, Let's do a kid and play m. So if not kill him, play bit. So of a similar example that would be displayed mostly on Caucasian hair. Okay. Oh, the races with, so if strand has a Caucasian, oriental, Middle East races with so long, so relaxed head. Now this is going to be more of a male example. This was a more of a female, feminine example. All I males can have this example and these are all male examples here. So and, and not to say that females have these examples. Tillich is obviously females can have Afro hair and mice. The fee was back in the day, it didn't do the kitten, kitten play hacker. There was some but not many. So that was mostly a masculine so star hacker. Okay, So with and Caucasian, oriental, Middle East in so people with, so if in a long relaxed hair, what it can do is add gel to the half and get sort of like a spiky effect. So it's like the very first example that we did in the tutorial, whereby we will draw ring. So if these thin strands like this with a points, right? In this example, we can reverse that and then have the strands pointing upward, right? Like that. Okay. Now again, like SAP for y, I would recommend is to either draw the shape. But if we were doing so, if we were doing so, and Caucasian has style, oriental style, punk lock, what has greased open window. Then we could literally data, okay? And we can follow it all the way along and do even finish variations if we want a right, which again is resource having fun, I'm gonna keep Santa because it's so important when you, when you start doing your own projects, if you take whether for hobby and all that kind of stuff, you get a quickly realized hey, of a muscle of a pie by getting into the wash right? Bearing one of Don Ellis Brew, specially if you've committed some things I say, for example, you withdraw in a comic or graphic novel and you've committed to your counsel, look in a certain way. He looks a certain way or she looks a certain way in every single issue, comic, whatever. Then you're pretty much, you pretty much like you're screwed. The nicest way I can further use groups. You've got a draw, a lie that in a law suit your us what your audience might expect if you change something on the card. So they may be like, Hey, I liked how eukaryotes it looked before and you get complaints or eukaryotes is known for XYZ. You can, you can get stocks I Key Vault list of N1 before you stop. Right? Okay, so there's a quick example. And again not so that took a little bit on, right? So now we've done the soil spiked in a punk hairstyle, right? Again, we can add even more detail and go in kinda silly with that. But again, slight. What's the point? You can if you want? So you obviously there's one of drawing them in. I didn't have the luxury to decide that. So thank you. And you do with longer projects? Obviously. Yeah. You can get her. Right. So let's move on. Say short hair. Okay. So that is how to do that. So punk locked, kinda luck and all that kind of stuff. And you can, you can simplify that and intensive in life. So if animates and manga, whereby they just sort of, again d the shape. She could just decently LA, save yourself a lot of time. Or maybe even like the solvent, narrow side haircuts or bleach or Dragon ballsy weather, so just spikes and things like that. There's all kinds of ways and methods that you can play with, right? 10. Class howToDraw part 10 curtains: Okay, right, let's do, let's do some short hair examples, okay? And I think that may be enough. And I'll get onto some other principles often, okay? Because there are just so many different styles, would be ridiculous to draw them all in this tutorial because you will be here for absolutely ages. You would need so much popcorn, tea, and biscuits. It would be ridiculous. You'd be bankrupt, right? So show Hacker. Again so many different variations. But what we shall do the stems a little bit away from what we've done. Excuse me, is and altro, the A's and Vanessa, draw your circle if you haven't already. I'm just going to take a sip of water. I have a frog in my fridge named Barry, and he shall not leave. Excuse me, people, right? So what we'll do is we'll draw the A's in on this example. Okay? And we shall draw, like in this example, we'll draw some spikes around the side and we'll go over the top. Now this is sort of done wrongly because I haven't added the crown. So if we add the crown would say lines. And then we'll draw round, say here. And we'll draw our spikes like that. And that creates our hair shape. And we'll do the same again like that, okay, Piece of cake. And then what we can do like a semaphore and only examples. We can then IV into detail or leave us as right, I'll leave each EDA. Now, there's something I do want to bring your attention, say the I think we'll leave the different hairstyles and all that kind of stuff. That because I think he got the idea with reference and all that kind of stuff. You can, you can do as many different hairstyles is, is there on the planet and they're all billions, I'm sure. So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to start to guarantee different principles, okay? Because this, with these in mind, you'll be able to take these and apply them. Lots of different types of hairstyles and just having general okay. 11. Class howToDraw part 11 crownAndHairFlow: So one of the principles with paying attention to the Crown, okay, some people have the crown in the center, like this example. I will enjoy it can actually. So in the center like this example. So we'll say center chroma, center, crown. So this is more like a parting. Okay. So say partying that we got. Right. But some people let me just rub this out and apologies if I'm shaking the camera. There we go, right? Some people have, if you imagine that this character is facing that way, so it's water paper, so this is the back of the head. Some people have the crown here. So it literally looks like a crown because it goes round the back of the head, circumference sort of thing. Okay. So you can get grades out of the crown upward to each side around here, and then you get hair that grows or to the crown just there. Right. Okay. So depending on where you have the crown, it can influence the soil of half-life. So for example, if I draw this again, I'll show you three different examples of how hack and fly differently that have the same crown. So draw circle and copy that example. Just say that you can understand the itselves. And then draw another circle just next to that like I have here. And what we'll do is we'll examples, okay? Right, So we're going to draw the crown just the, right. So in this example, what we can have is the hair growing forward, right? So you've got the hair growing forward like that? It could make like a Mohican. All right. And then we could have is pulled. It is hey, because it's going to be the back of the head. And then we could have the hair growing around the sides like this. Okay. And then a meets the base of the head like that. Right? So in a way we'll always go a Mohican style clean up this way. And then we've got the crown, which still would be covered by hair. I'm just showing you where the crime would be. Okay. So when people bought their head and you can see their crown. Okay, So normally you wouldn't draw the crown in when you're drawing your hairstyle. Bet. It's obviously they're in those determine half-life. So I'm just teaching you this as a principle to keep in mind when you're drawing your house either way you'll have lives, right? So in this example, the hair is flowing forward up until the middle, right? And you bring up closer forward, open sea the middle. Okay. And obviously that would have been groomed that way. Okay. Because if it was just fly forward, right? It will just fly. I'm sorry. Yeah, just fly forward. Right. And then here, why does is it flows download that way right? From the crown. Each of these flows is from the crown. So again, if we think of light low striations that all flowing from the crown region, right? Same here. Doing the same thing but upwards and to the sensor, right? Okay. So even with any, any solar rays hat, That's how an example of how the heck can flow from the crown. Whereas here if you look at this example, the hair is flowing outward just like that, right? But again, the thing that's in common with this has an SSR is the hair is flowing from the crown. Okay? So every single time you are drawing hair, probably keep that in mind. And you went down Wednesday wrong because you'll be keeping in mind where the hair is flowing from the crown. Okay. And obviously that can help determine your different hairstyles. And all that kind of thing and stuff like that. Now, what you can say day, So I've been told is retrain your crown, right? So say for example, you have a crown here, right? By combing, grooming, and all of that kind of stuff, you can redirect. Let me do another drawing similar to the S. So draw along with me. So I hope you understand these principles. Okay, So if we do another circle, Here we go, right? Combs who don't know the circle. We'll draw in. Is this going to be like, you know, cope or T handles, right? Just like this. And we shall draw our crown. So we'll see two straight lines and then draw hair with our spikes. The, This doesn't seem much how it looks, because again, it's these principles I'm driving home. They're important, right? So we've got the crown here. But what people are actually able to do with dreaming and other techniques is redirect. The crown, Okay? Redirect it. All right, so I'm just going to write N RI, direct the crown. Okay? So I often do in that, it allows that particular person to create other cool effects like quips in certain areas. So for example, it would be hard or it wouldn't look as good. If someone tried to make a graph with a straight crown, actually would look. It would look good boy, it would form differently. So you'd have a little bit of UKF on this side, for example, right? And then a little bit of equiv from this side, right? So you get like a sensor partying with the Senza Chrome. Okay, so it still looks good, but it just forms differently. Whereas this one, you'd have f of 0 comes from one side to all stems from one side because the crown has been retrained. Her right now is another word as well. So say retrained or redirected. Retrained. Okay. So the crown still there, it's just been retrained or redirected. And then your quiz. If you have a coef or if you're drawing a graph, can then appear differently because overhead striations are coming from one side. Because the crown has been retrained and redirect it as a pasty center potting type crown, whereby, yes, this person has a clef. The hashed runs are coming from either side of the crown, okay? So in essence, they buy, buy. If people have quips, it's just a lot differently because their crowns or different or are formed differently. Okay? So that is another thing to pay attention safe, because obviously the crown determines half-life, right? Let's put that in as well. So pay that crown no. Determines half-life flow. And I'm going to put slash style. Okay. So that is something that you definitely want to pay attention safe as a principal because K is giving say, make a big difference when you are drawing your hair. Okay? And again, we can draw the crown in if if if you feel like if you want to or not, It's totally up to you. But obviously, by keeping that in mind as a principle, you'll be able to determine how your half-life and how you have layers, and how it looks, how its dictate, etc. etc. All of these things, definitely things that you want to pay attention. 12. Class howToDraw part 12 density: Okay, Now, obviously, we could go in depth, may do a tiny bit, for example, with your with your head depending on depending on how much a person has, how thick the hair is, how will also determine how heavy is and how it will hang. If, say for example, we did our kills hair. If the hair is really, really, really thick, maybe this would be Titus. I tie a Kelso, the distance between here and here, right? Maybe longer because it has quite heavy. Whereas if the head is quite light, then kills the curling tongs or if the patient has natural hair like this may have much tighter kills, right? So they may be really, really tie my really close together as opposed to someone's head. It's like large clumps and really heavy. So you see the space between each co may be greater. Someone's has heavier and thicker, et cetera, et cetera. Whereas if someone's has light, then maybe there's codes can be tighter and closer together and give different facts. Okay. So weight of the hair and all that kind of stuff and the type of the hair, all that kinda stuff pays a part in how it looks and how it reacts to every day. Let's say energies E and things like that, all that stuff. Maybe that's getting a bit in depth. Just to add mentioned because these are things that you might want to consider, especially if you're doing animation, is this desktop for definitely pay a big part in animation, et cetera. But if you're doing your illustrations and all that kind of stuff, you have free reign of this because you may not be looking into that deeply, but in terms of animation, you will want to pay attention to things like this and the crown and all of that kind of stuff. Even if you're doing illustrations and stuff I buy, you will want to pay attention to the crown as well. Because all the same and you have at least when your cray in your cart. So once you create your character and you've created your characters look or, you know, then you saw it and you can just go ahead and draw the same every time. It's totally fine. And obviously you can use to join the Kaiser, so it'll be quick, it will be fine. And obviously depending on the amount of detail that you're adding together. And if you are drawing life drawings and utopian, realistic and realism drawings, ANOVA kind of stuff. Then you can just rely heavily on reference. So again, these things on things you so much need to think about as much because you draw what you say. You actually draw what you say as accurately as possible, okay? But as I say in all my tutorials, reference is important. I mean, US IS case by case. It's totally fine if you don't want to use reference is totally fine. Massage EA, There's craving ie, the stylized kind of stuff, the components, your work. And without a be creative that way if you want to, that's totally fine. I wouldn't advise against up. Again if you want. So you include reference in your urine and you know what, a hundreds to fight that. In my opinion, it doesn't necessarily, and obviously you can learn from any differences. So Ido, I'll leave that see books as ACK, right? So that was a lot better. So feed you guys are so-called a baby. You might need to rewire them was on Piazza because there's lot of a lot of information that we haven't covered it. We haven't COVID like as much as we could. Bro so much more with regards to the half. I don't want to overlay as well, so I'm very cautious and wary of that. So like mainly most of the principles that will get you started withdrawing your head, okay, so we're absolutely finishing off with too much info. 13. Class howToDraw part 13 volume: Another principle to pay attention safe as well. A DC, so new. So we've made this mistake. Is there is a thing called hair volume right? Now. Volume really does add see the hair look, let's say, right, I've got the other course off-camera, by the way. I've got, I've got it, right. Okay, so I could draw hair on my character, right? Like this. And it will still look cold. But because on here, I've drawn the flat on the head. The head does not have much volume, if any, okay? So it actually looks flat on the character. Okay. And not is the difference between drawing hair without volume compared to you? With volume or with volume? With volume, with volume. So volume basically determines like the sort of hair buoyancy, if you like. So that buoyancy allows the hair to come off of the head. Off of the head Bozo appear like it's almost flouting and there's a lot of volume to a growth in depth, etcetera, etcetera. Because it comes off of the head. It's got that nice curvature as well, even in this house as well, but it's not, it doesn't look flat. And so if gleamed to the head, right? So that's where volume plays a part in in hair and you draw in here. So I would definitely pay attention to that as well, because that obviously gives you the obviously gives you a lot of leeway and much more realistic and believable. It also looks nice. It say, and in my opinion, but you can also get styles like this where the has to lie flat and so the patients had to add it does add its own type of character. And to to whoever is Harry is because you don't usually see it often most head does have volume here. Okay. So that's just an example of having hair without, have all you. A good example of this, if you still perceive it, is let's say Caucasian people, for example, when they get into a shower the heck and have volume. But then once the Hejaz where it sticks to the head, sticks that had any flattens out. Okay. Because it loses its volume. Okay. Because it's absorbed a lot of water, it gets heavy and all that kind of stuff. So it loses its buoyancy, right? So it gets quite flat. Okay, so that's basically what I'm talking about here without for volume looks like that. Whereas have with volume is dry, is causing points, is causing pounds to it. Okay. So keep that in mind as well. Because, yeah, Obviously again, that could be a really useful thing in animation or just, yeah, just your illustration is no a 100 stuff like that. Things like that. That pays. That plays a big part, say, Okay. Right. I'm guarantee, leave it there. I may do another extension to the hair, to this hedge tutorial by Dino. Wanna go further because it may absolutely vocal z mind because there are athletes, principles and lows of different variations. But I think we've gone through enough to cover everything. 14. Class howToDraw part 14 tipsAndTricksAndUsefulSummary: Now what I'm going to quickly do now, pop and take a sip of water. Is Barry is bugging me again. Is I'm going to do a overview of what we have gone through. So just bear with me. Let's get this piece of paper. Right? Should take a sip of water. Do excuse me. Walk. Excuse me, is about the only friend China, apart from ovulating for March, pavements all only do for mash works in every circumstance in France. So I can pretty much be French already, right? Why should we try that with the alula? Only do four miles for every one of you will look at it. Is this guy. So where did I get that already anyway, so it's an idea for, right? Okay. Okay, right, so we've got the hedge funds which come off the head, right? We can use the shapes, the thinned out, depending on how large we want, the clumps of hair on our character, okay? Or are drawing right? Then what we can do is we can keep in mind whether we want the hash straight. We're going open angle or any other style, okay? Depending on which one of these, which is we can then add spikes to the strands accordingly, okay, and achieve our hairstyle. We don't even need to add the clumps and strands in if we don't want say, why, because one does different styles so we can get away with that. Also speeds up our flight because we're not spending as much time detailing. But if we want detail, we can detail, we can add the strands in and all the kind of individual details if we want, say, I would recommend you use reference if you go down this path. But if not, you can, you can do that and definitely achieve the look you're going for, okay? Bear in mind, obviously, if you add in detail kind of stuff, you'll need to do it correctly and accurately. She may avoid the hair stones like spaghetti or just an absolute mess whereby view is o p we can actually make out what is going on with regards to the half-life or the hat in general. Right? Okay. Curly hair is very nice. Very quick today provided they are large Coase. Okay. And we can get away with Shoko, long-held, et cetera, et cetera. We use spirals to achieve the effect. And it looks really, really nice. Okay? Maslow for CALEA and straight hair and all kinds of deal of CALEA, right? We can also draw our main shapes and then segments and divide, that is main shapes up into hashed runs. If we want to add more detail to a large volume of hair like so, or we can just leave it as the main shape, right? If we want, say, we have that choice as ice, okay? But flexibility is always right. With wavy hair, we can add the waves that gives a different sort of lock. And we can also again be the same depending on what level of detail we, once you add in Coie, has styles to achieve different effects. We're also going to pay attention to the crown because that sermons where the hair roots stem from, a guy from. Okay. Right. Scale and see the other page. With Afro hair, I would recommend draw the main shape. And probably decades too much detail with Afro hair. Why? Because our foreheads, hands to be like Tycho's. So to make it look correct, if you all get into detail after I had, you guys have to put in a ton of work to achieve that effect, right? So bad, I mind. Same with the styles that involve portions of Afro hair. Okay. And I'm sorting by Afro hair is, whoops, a large volume. Afro heads together like this top of the kid and play as tau, afraid. Okay. Whereas this portion is so like a low shave and things like that. So maybe you could get away with descendant Nestle obey. The large portion would, would be a lot of work for every drawing, the E2 of these. Okay, so I'd recommend with Africa hedges use the general shape principal like I showed on the previous page. We also have the kind of punk. So it has to unlock whereby we can go in and do again the striations and all kinds of stuff about different strands. It does take a lot of time. What we can do is draw a spiked. So we've had sort of like the sonars have example or other animals or causing so of examples. Okay, So we need to draw every single strand. If we add 10 and we're looking to achieve longer projects, okay? With wavy kills or killed half. Like with them. The role is and all that kind of stuff. We can achieve very nice-looking where we can do a simplified like this and maybe add in hashed runs if we feel so inclined sick or not. And even if we don't, it looks really nice. And actually my opinion, I prefer Nazi because it gives such, such a nice effects. Now, I will come back to the Destin, whereby we've got the sensor crown potting here, which basically lets us know where the hair is guaranteed flight from. And if we add a quiz, it also lets us know how the QF would be formed based off of I was looking at the crown and where it's located. Right. For example. Well, okay. It's about in a second. Now the crown plays a big part on half-life. So we can have, some people don't always have crowns in the same place. For example, this is a parting crown which goes through the middle of the head, whereas this crumb carries around the, the top. So if circumference of the head, right? So we end up Gail different flows because we have different crowns. Okay? So this one will flow upwards and see the Senza and obviously the looping grained. Otherwise it'll flow forwards in straight. And the below, below these cards is opuses crown. It will flow downward towards the base of the neck, right? So the formation of the crown and location of the crown plays a big part in how and where the hair flows, right? Another thing to pay attention to is the crown can also be retrained and redirected. Okay, So whereby this type of crown sounds apart and cram week. If you chose to have a quiz, if it were, it would flow where there is half basically. So either side of the crown, you can have like sort of a two to partied QF. So one side here and then the other side here with salt gap in the middle. Okay. Or you could have a fuller QF whereby the crown has been retrained or the hair is kind over how the crown would naturally solve fly, right? And then you can get different effects. And by doing that, by retraining your crown, redirect in your crown, or just kept coming over where the crown actually is, Right? Also, another thing to pay attention to is weight of the hair. So if the hair is very tight and thick, it will probably be very weighty. So if it's very weighty, the space between say for example, if you're doing a head with co Kells up, sorry, then you may have a larger space between each co why? Because the hair is heavier. Okay. Whereby if the hair is quite thin and light, then the hand, the curls and the space between the cells may be tighter. Okay, something to bear in mind if you're doing animation or realistic drawings, etc, etc, right? Okay. And with all of these principles you can apply relevant to them. Just obviously do not want to go into the tutorial because it's very resource heavy. And he now, this is mainly focused on principles and just giving you the tools to do and take away the achieved in the hairstyles, the lightsaber. And obviously you can detail them as much as you like and achieve the effect or no, or more so of resource conserving manner and to achieve longer-term projects, etc. Okay. Now, lastly as well, we pay attention so you have volume, okay, which determines the buoyancy of the head is a stick. So the head is very flat, not very volume, or does it have a lot of volume of bounds? And so away from the head because it's got a lot of volume. Okay. After I had to stand to have a lot of OU spring to a lot of buoyancy. Okay? So that's another thing to keep in mind when you join different hairstyles. Okay. Ready? I think that is absolutely not everything that is involved with hair, but is definitely enough the getaway and achieve awesome locking hair. And again, the only difference between an ISO of realism in nice is the amount of resources that you put towards him. For example, we put slightly more resources towards, again, this sort of wavy cause, a lot more accurate. And as you can see, in comparison, it looks like it's passe last nearly difference. You can achieve realistic looking. Again, if he dies, resources in, bear in mind that these details can be very time-consuming. So it depends on what you wanna do. Do you wanted to it just to one of drawing or is an animation or a longstanding comic. If sorry, you may want to consider how in depth you go, right? With all that being said. Thank you for joining me for this tutorial. I hope everything some Kennan, if not, you can watch it again and definitely have a practice with these different types of hairstyles and just a way that has sits and flyers because there's so much to him. Right. And know that was really in depth. Hopefully it wasn't too complicated, but if you are struggling and do you have questions, then you can reach me Act. Which is, hey, you can reach me on read it directly. You can message me directly at call or read K or L, ART or EID, all one word on ready, okay. And definitely check me out on YouTube. You can also message me and ask me questions. They're very active on ICI and looking to build up and help the community. Plus tons quirky co-op every Saturday my show and so Series in my creative style makes you smile. So check me out. I would call space or a Yahtzee space, read or EID. Okay. And asthma each, each channel DEF HME out there. I've got tons of coal, got free tutorials, resources and principles, just like in the US, but in different areas and different topics and things like that. So use those resources over there. Plus Watson y over episodes. We have a lot of you have a generic in I, I through IV and jags means all kinds of stuff. Plus we'll do some really cool. So it's tons of fun. I would join me, be, be grateful to have you along for the support. And I will be supporting you right back with free tutorials, content like this, etcetera, etcetera. Say, yeah, let's do it guys. Let's ladies and gentlemen, let's get ourselves evidence for each of our okay. And yeah, like I said, message me on either of these. I'm very safe. Okay. So appreciate you guys for stopping the one for the tutorial. Again, I would recommend the clot, the facial hair and tutorial and the eyebrow tutorial because it will further extend your knowledge in this area. So assuming the things I couldn't include incidence tutorial because scan a bit lengthy and heavy. Our so if they are included in that, there is actually even more so or maybe another tutorial relates hair, but there's some more principles in those tutorials, the facial hair tutorial, an eyebrow tutorial, which will definitely help you with hair tutorial in general. So check those two out. And I think you, you really be able to take away from those and do some awesome looking hair, top of your head, eyebrows, and facial hair as well. And all of the information in all three of those, including this tutorial, interchangeable and it will really help you solve. Be able to create a really nice, well-rounded, informed style, half-life, etc, etc. Okay, so definitely go check those out if you haven't already. All right, guys, I'll leave it see that they've got Chicago, which is Oreos heavy off with a review. They're not forget to practice. Practice. Practice is reference and have fun and obviously references down to you if you don't want to use it, I use it either way. Just have fun. Okay. So I'll see you for the next tutorial. Take care guys, and have a great day. See you.
