Project Description
Create a lettering system based on an illustration.
ASSIGNMENT
You will create a complete lettering system based on an illustration. Your system will be made up of at least 3 different elements. You will begin with a main illustration (this can be something you have already made, or you can create something new) and illustrate or letter supporting elements as part of the same motif.
You are welcome to create any kind of system you want. You can execute a full book project like I do with a cover, an ex libris, a title page, a back cover, and a blurb. You could make a hand-lettered calendar, a set of notecards, or a set of illustrations for a zine.
Your goal is to explore different types of lettering and illustration while creating a cohesive system — this is your chance to get creative with your application! The possibilities are endless.
DELIVERABLE
Upload your lettering system to the project gallery. A finished project will include:
- Your main illustration
- At least two supporting lettering or illustration elements
- Process sketches for your work
