Workshop Timeline:

Week 1: First up, we’ll learn Marte Marie Forsberg’s inspired approach to lifestyle photography in Lifestyle Photography: Capturing Inspiring Visual Stories. This quick class is jam-packed with great tips and tricks for transforming everyday inspiration into extraordinary images with lessons that touch on styling, shooting, editing, and more. For your project, you’ll shoot, edit, and share three photos of afternoon tea or any other favorite at-home ritual. Upload your project to the project gallery by December 3rd and give your fellow students some feedback.

Week 2: Next, we’ll shift our focus from capturing scenes and space to photographing friends and family in Benjamin Heath’s class Portraits and Places: Photographing People in Their Spaces. Benjamin shares his approach to storytelling through portraiture and how you can utilize lighting, composition, and setting to create a photographic narrative. Then you’ll create your own series of portraits and upload it to the project gallery by December 10th.

Week 3: We’ll close out the workshop by focusing on everyone’s favorite subject — food! In DIY Food Photography: Capture Compelling Closeups of Fruit, photographer Tabitha Park shows you how to use tablescape styling, macro settings, and specific editing techniques to create an appealing food photo. You’ll practice by taking some of your own close-up shots and sharing them in the project gallery by December 17th.
