vintage flowers on backgrounds
In these projects, I decided to paint directly on the background without any drawing outlines to follow. It was an interesting learning process as I went along. This first one of salvia is my least favorite of the three. I used ink and colored pencil details in addition to watercolors.
The coneflowers took some work with many layers until I got flowers that I liked. I went back in with ink details after I put the color down with watercolors. I like this composition.
This last one is of the blooms on our Mimosa tree. They are very delicate blooms. I like how this one turned out. I used colored pencils for the final stem details instead of black ink. I think it gives a softer look.
