I’m in the process of building an online audience so that I can be a successful author. I determined my target audience and found a place online (discord) where I joined several groups of hundreds of authors. By engaging with authors there, I began to build a core group. I then launched a bi-weekly email and website, posting the links. Once several joined the email newsletter, I started launching writing contests. The winners get exposure both by being published in my newsletter and on my website. I’ve studied other authors, and found a way to provide value to my audience. This isn’t perfect by any means, but so far I’ve got an 80% open rate for the emails and international participation in the writing challenges. I’ll move more aggressively later when I get closer to publishing a book, but for now I’m really excited about the progress I’ve made. Thank you so much for your class!
