Thanks for the fun tutorial! I'm just starting out with Affinity Designer 2 and surface pattern design so it was fun to have a go at my first half drop repeat. Sorry I ran out of time to fill in the template so I just uploaded some screenshots. I did export the image then place/image to fill my test artboard but just kept it within one doc to keep things organised. Here are my two patterns:
