Watercolour cards

Watercolour cards - student project

I really enjoyed this class - I was happy to find ideas that I could easily adapt to make cards for *male* friends and family. (I mean I know that flowers for example are not inherently gendered, but I wouldn’t feel right giving a male friend a card with a bouquet on it!!) Overall, I’m very pleased with the set of cards I created, and glad that I have birthday (and other occasion!) cards sorted for the next few months.

I improvised a little:

I have a very limited set of stamps (mainly because I can’t use them without getting very messy!!), and no ‘embellishments’ (ribbons, gems etc) so added interest with paint splatters and/or doodles plus used different coloured card stock and coloured paper for mounting.

Cake & candles cards:

I felt mine looked a little bare, so added a little paint splatter

Stamped circle:

Made the circle more of an oval to fill a larger portion of the page!

Rainbow wash:

Added some doodles using a micron pen.

Aperture card:

Already had card stock with square holes so used those. Did doodles appropriate to the sentiment with a micron pen.

Leaves:

In progress, felt mine was looking a little plain so added more colours and many more layers of leaves. The stamp I used was a little ‘industrial’ in style so added some splatters of black paint, and I really love how this one turned out!

Oh, and I didn’t do the weather card - there’s been so much ‘weather’ here in the UK recently I wasn’t really feeling it!!!
