I love painting watercolour trees because you can use such fun techniques to suggest all of the details in a really quick and easy way, and you can create so many different effects! They are also a great subject for practicing how to simplify quite complicated subjects.

In this class, I show you how to approach painting trees, step by step, starting with how to simplify their shape all the way through to using values and colours to represent highlights and shadows, and there is a whole section on different techniques you can use to create different effects, from dry brush to wet on wet!

I then walk you through 8 different examples so you can practice all of these tips and techniques with me.
