Watercolor & Digital Paintings: Cats with Flowers

I wanted to share an update to my project. I finally got around to painting a watercolor project and using the dried pressed flowers on it. I'm so excited about the result.

I've been participating in the Bring Spring 2025 Challenge that Anna (and other Skillshare teachers) are hosting on Instagram. This is my final prompt for that challenge, Prompt 10: Sleeping Cat. I thought this prompt was perfect to use the techniques that I learned in this class.

You can check out my Instagram if anyone is interested in seeing what I did from prompts 1-9, and all of the other beautiful work that people created.

And my digital painting project:

I learned a lot from this project about enhancing my digital art with textures.  I worked in Corel Painter on a Wacom tablet, using the sketch provided in class.  I tried to incorporate a variety of textures into the different layers using various brushes I have.  I've never played around with changing the blending modes on the layers before, so that was a fun thing to learn about and try out.  For my finishing layers of texture, I made some watercolor layers and used those on top.

I haven't done my watercolor/gouache project yet, but I will update the post when I do.

Thanks so much for the class, it was packed full of information.  I watched a few times already and will definitely be watching the painting and flower application demos again when I do the next part of the project.
