I'll try the other lessons, but the first one is using complimentary color. I chose ultramarine blue with burnt sienna as together they make a great gray. Perhaps someone's portrait isn't the best choice for a beginning sketcher, but I never know until I try. I also tried to take the tip of leave plenty of negative space. The white areas in this really make the subject stand out (even if I didn't catch Toby's likeness very much). This is 5x7 on Canson mixed media sketchbook.
