UX Process - Verbiage App

UX Process - Verbiage App - student project

Verbiage is a minimalist, cloud-based service for novel writers who want an intuitive writing platform to be able to create their novels any time from anywhere.

Verbiage's Goals:

  • A minimal, distraction-free design
  • Cloud-based with auto-saving/auto-syncing features
  • Mobile, tablet & desktop options
  • A low or free cost to use
  • Not designed around any specific format or writing method

User Personas:

I decided to move forward at this point just with Fiction Francis to avoid getting overwhelmed.

User Journey Map:

I enjoyed the process of thinking through what the app should be from the perspective of the user's desired outcomes. Sort of like there's no need for an effect without a cause.

User Flow Chart:

I used Lucidchart to develop the User Flow as a classic flow chart, fearing that moving into a more visual wireframe style flow would steer me too easily into the realm of design. I realized quickly that the app as I picture it has several layers of depth, so I only mapped the flow from login to what I call the Novel Notebook. Then inside that chart, I mapped Fiction Francis' specific flow, based on her Journey Map.

A "First Novel Notebook" tutorial would need to be initiated for Fiction Francis once she achieved that point in the flow.
