Hello, everyone! I figured I would try to get the ball rolling with showcasing some texture ideas. Still a work in progress, but I definitely am having fun with this already. Especially regarding making scatter brush textures. I mainly use Neocolor crayons and a jumbo paint marker as the main media, with some various household objects to help pick up the ink/wax and create some nifty effects. Really hope this will translate well once I get this into illustrator! For texture tools, I used cotton swabs, scrap paper, sign pen hatching, heck I even used a tampon to get more controlled line weights than with a cotton ball. Makes an interesting alternative to a cotton ball or brush. Don't laugh, or do...I think it's pretty funny.

Here are some of the textures created with my experimentation. Surprisingly, the textures that look really good were made with the tampon (haha!).

Still, I have to play around with lines and then move into illustrator. Will update as I go along. Hope you guys are having as much fun with this!

--UPDATE---

These are some of the brushes I vectorized in Illustrator. While it is encouraged to have a few anchors as possible, I found that for my brushes fewer anchors greatly diminishes the texture quality. I suppose it's more guesswork than a strict rule. I love how these came out! Some need some more love, especially for pattern brushes.
