Sketching the world around us

Sketching the world around us - student project

Checking your sketchbooks is such a unique experience. You discover sketches that you completely forgot about them, and new ideas come to your mind.

I have lots of started sketchbooks and some waiting to be open yet. Still, I usually use three: an A4 Canson Sketchbook for my every day, a Watercolor Canson Travel Book for when I go in vacation, and a cheap pocket notebook that I carry with me everywhere for ideas and quick sketches.

I finished the first two last year, but my A4 is still the same one, only new. My travel book is now an A5 Strathmore Watercolor Visual Journal.

I am pleased with my finished A4 sketchbook. It is full of experiences: my personal 31 sketching challenge, pieces made for Skillshare projects, sketches for commissions, dreams, silly ideas, doodles, Inkredible Inktober loose sketches.

My Watercolor sketchbook is more mixed with some urban sketching, lots of swatches and tiny studies made in artist dates.

The tiniest sketchbook is full of written notes and sketches for 2019 Folktale Week, ideas for stickers, designs for Patreon and random drawings made waiting doctor appointments.

With this class, I finished something that I wanted to see for a long time: my handmade sketchbook for medicinal herbs. It gave me the impulse to put covers on it and start writing and using the dried flowers that I picked on the countryside in January.

Nature always inspires me a lot for my illustrations, so I wanted to have the opportunity to write about them in a journal and learn their properties and how to identify them. This class was perfect for it, with the use of Sakura Micron Fine Liners and Sakura Koi Brush Pens :)

Thank you, Anna, for the fantastic inspiration you always give us with your classes and your personality.
