Basic Shapes Beautiful Designs

I printed out the Mandala page, but haven't done any drawing yet. I'll do a practice page first to see how well I do with the shapes. I may have to buy myself a sketchbook tomorrow so I can keep track of my progress. You make it look so simple, and yet when I look at the designs in the adult colouring books it looks overwhelming. :)

HI Diane, I saw your project and I'm so glad you went and got the sketchbook to get you going.  The colouring book designs can seem  overwhelming because of all the detail, however the more you draw the more you see they are just layers of detail added in over time.  You can get there, one step at a time.  I will sometimes look at my drawings a few weeks later and think "where did that come from"  that is just the magic at work and we all can do it. :)

Thanks Jane! I am having so much fun with this. I should be working on my own class, but all that's left is the recording, and I need a quiet spot (and daylight) for that. I am curious to see how my designs improve over time (dated my drawings), I sent pictures of what I have done to my kids and they were very impressed.

The pictures below show the stages of the mandala as I add in the shapes and then add in any extra details and finally the inked in sections to give it some drama.
