Then Change up the Hairstyle from there. Basic Shapes and Fill - You can change the Base Color to something other than black.

Add the Color you want for the highlight. This step is usually what you see reflecting from black hair, like an undertone. 

Then use the hue, brightness and saturation tool to change things up without picking colors your self.
