Question list for interviewing a podcast guest

PODCAST INTERVIEW WITH PRINCE EDDY

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF HIGH PROPERTY PRICES, GETTING HIS PERSPECTIVES AND SUGGESTING WAYS TO MAKE HOME OWNERSHIP MORE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE.

The podcast will be broken down into 3 sections;
Background section, Substantive section and Concluding section.

1. Background: Introducing the guest, the podcast and the purpose of the podcast.

I’m going to lean into the interview by asking the following questions.

  • Your Instagram handle is Oracle of Lagos. Where did that come from? (This will help get him comfortable and talk a little bit about himself)

  •  How long have you been developing for?
(This is to establish his authority as someone with experience in the sector)

  • What was the driving force behind your decision to become a developer? Did you come in to solve a problem or was it a purely financial decision? (My goal here is to get him to go with problem solving or at least admit that there is indeed a problem in the real estate industry particularly in Lagos, so I can ask some follow up questions)

This last question will then lead into the SUBSTANTIVE SECTION which is the main section of the interview.

  • One of the biggest challenges with home ownership particularly in Lagos is that property prices are not within reach of most middle income earners? What informs these steep prices?
(At this point he’s probably going to talk about land prices, rising cost of materials etc...this would give me a chance to ask some follow-up questions like why don’t they consider building in other parts of Lagos like the mainland, After Ajah where the cost of building won’t be so high etc)

  • As a problem solver, we’ve identified a problem “Many people can’t afford these houses” How are you trying to solve this problem? In what way are you contributing?

  • I’m a single man... I don’t need a 5 bedroom with 3 storeys and a cinema. It’s too big and it’s too expensive. I’d be very happy with a studio apartment or a one bed...but Not many people are building that. Why the concentration on a certain kind of construction? Why is nobody looking into affordable homes for middle income earners?

  • Do you know about multi-family homes? They’re very similar to the shared apartments that we have here. Do you think something like that could work here?

  •   I understand that as a private individual, there’s only so much that you can do. Would a public-private partnership between developers and government help bridge some of these gaps?
(I would then follow up with in what ways? Just so he can give a bit more detail)

    The CONCLUDING section

  • ●  If there was anything you could change about the real estate market, what

    would it be?

  • ●  I’m going to give you the opportunity to address our audience and speak to some of these issues we’ve raised today.

  • ●  Conclude the interview, Thank my guest and the audience. Sign out
