Finding your style: Make art that is uniquely yours

Hello Amanda,Welcome to the class I hope you enjoy. It is great to see through your inspiration that you have not only got a grasp on a style you like but a subject matter of strong female heroines, I look forward to seeing you create beautiful and inspiring figures. From your inspiration structurally I see you aspire to do semi realistic work with accurate proportions, much like game concept art. There is an emphasis on the cheekbones and eyes in all of the pieces and a definition of muscle and bone. This is a good thing to aim for and I recommend you study anatomy as it will help you excel at defining characters like your inspiring artists do.Looking at your 6 different structural style sketches I can see a few of your inspired traits carried through. I would love to know which of the 6 sketches you prefer. I am drawn to the bottom centre face for its strength and structure. However I think a more flowing hair treatment may suit your goal style a bit better (this is something you can learn from studying the work of Loish).Great work, I look forward to seeing more of your progress. I have found out i like flowey hair, thicker outlines, and the heavier eyes, and a higher amount of detail in clothing and setting.  And  strong women definatley are what I want to draw.

To be honest, im not thrilled with any of the six sketches as a whole, so i want to revisit that excersize today and play around with it a bit more. I also think i need to find a lesson on some drawing basics, to get a better understanding about anatomy, and to get a better hold on Procreate as a software.

What brushes in Procreate do you recommend?

For procreate brushes. I can recommend a couple of the standard brushes. I really like the 6B pencil for a natural sketch. I also use the airbrush set to get the softer shading look you are looking at, and the hard air brush and studio pen are good for solid lines.

If you want to learn more on facial anatomy I have a class on how to draw faces. Also I have a procreate class (it is a year old but covers all the essential tools which may help you get to understand the basics of the program. There are also plenty of classes on this platform from a plethora of creatives that will help you with drawing basics and procreate.
