Hi
I was talking with a friend of mine and we saw the police confiscating a street venders food trolly. I'm assuming he was selling where he wasn't supposed to. I've seen it all before numerous times but this time it hit me different.
I asked my friend "why are they taking his means to support himself?", He responded "He probably has low standards in terms of quality and cleaniness etc", I replied "Yeah but look at the restaurants around here(they are a mess), aint no safety and quality checks happening here"... We went back and forth for a while and in the end it came down to "IT'S THE LAW"... He broke the law by selling where he wasn't supposed to be selling.
I spent the whole day wondering if LAW=RIGHT... It isn't(imo), and even in a situation when we know the law is ACTUALLY detrimental, there will be people who will enforce it even if they know it's causing more harm that good...
The name Pot Of Gold referring to thriving(which everyone is trying to do). The song perspective is... outside looking in. Verses talk of the system as whole in a direct but equally abstract way, it touches on those who enforce certain things and their mindset then the hook/bridge are in 1st person saying even if all this B.S is going on- I(and we) will still find a way to my P.O.G

P.S... I am not a vocalist nor do I know any music theory, keys and all that! I just use my ears. I've attached the progress I made in 2 sessions working on the song. It's still very rough, but yeah...
