Thank you Laura for such clear instructions, this was such a pleasure to sew. I made some hacks to the pattern because the way it draped I was limited by the width of the fabric but I'm happy with the amount of gathers even though it was only 140cm wide (for approx 80cm waist). For the same reason my tie was shorter but I like it the way it is. Because there was less width due to fewer gathers I had to put slits in the side up to just below the knee. To do this I sewed the seam first, the sewed open the folds of the seam allowance, folding over to conceal the raw edge, then reopened the seam. I love the slow pace and the feeling of freedom when sewing by hand as it's easy to change your mind and unpick. The garment is beautiful inside and out. I will definitely be doing more hand sewing!
