I created the pattern from AIs pattern swatch called Decorative Legacy | Area Rug Color, using the techniques from this great class. I created the diamonds first with the pattern and changed the colorway. Then I created a background with the new colorway and the same pattern. Last I used the Transparency>Blend mode for the diamonds.
