Whew.
I disciplined myself to do this in Illustrator and to create and use brushes for some of the motifs (some I hand illustrated and live traced).
I’m still slow enough in Illustrator that tidying up can become a bit of a grind, but I figure I will improve with time and practice. 
Thank you for the awesome guidance with this sort/style pattern. You inspired me to go for it!
