Noodle Dog
BLIND DRAWING - It was fun drawing the variations of the bulldog, watching it turn into a caricature before my eyes!

OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING - I used photos of my dog, Noodle. She was a white shepherd mix. She was my son's best friend and followed him everywhere. This was a good exercise to practice drawing in a realistic manner. I'm p=very pleased with how it turned out!

CARICATURE DESIGN - This one stretched my drawing muscles! I'm used to making much simpler, cartoon-like drawings. With these I tried to add more details to give them more personality.

MIND MAPPING - This really helped me come up with an idea for the final story idea for my dog. Her role in life is to watch over her flock.

SKETCHING IDEAS
#1 - Since she was part shepherd, I imagine her thinking she was a brave, larger than life herder of all things! She could watch over kids, sheep, pups, cats... the list is endless! I decided to use cute little pups for now.

#2 - For this view I imagine her standing up to some unseen foe... the mailman, a cat, the UPS truck? hahaha
FINAL DESIGN - I loved adding the outline and color! It brought the drawing to life. I'm new to Procreate - still getting used to drawing on a screen (even with the paper-like screen cover) and using the brushes for color - there's SO many to choose from!

This was a wonderful class, I really enjoyed myself! I've learned so much - many new methods to create a really cute animal caricature! I'll be using these techniques as I practice my children's book illustrations.
Thank you so much Nina!
