This is fantastic! Beautifully done!

Indeed, it’s the blue versus brown shadows that kept bugging me. I tried to tone down the blue with some brown and added some blue to the brown. Alas, it didn’t make much of a difference. Still, I can live with it ; ) Besides, I will simply have to paint another! PS would it be possible to include a photo reference in the resources section?Thank you Nadine!

yes it's tricky to alter the shadow colours when they're already strong. I have included the reference as a link to pixabay rather than a direct download because of the licensing terms - pretty sure it's against their terms to make the photo directly downloadable from another site.

Lovely owl Simone, really nice mix of loose and detail. I can see what you mean about the blue - I didn't really notice until you pointed it out. It's not so much that it's too blue it's that the colour of that shadow doesn't match the one under the chest. You could potentially add a bit of blue to the chest shadow to balance it, but when you've got pigment down heavily you can get yourself into a mess if you try to fiddle too much. I'd give it a few days and if it bugs you then you can fiddle. I think I'd leave it, it's very good as is.

Such a great project! I especially enjoyed the "looseness" of painting this owl  along with a bit of detail for the face. I may have made the area under the wing too blue but overall I'm quite pleased. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank Nadine for another amazing class!
