My tree

My tree - student project

The textured background is a bit tricky until you figure out how much paint you need to add in order not to waste but also to have enough for the texture. And also until you figure out that you don;t have to blend the colours, but rather to flatten them on paper, in order to keep the colours, not to make one uniform layer.

Then, the application of the paint with the palette knife. It is very tricky. When practicing, it seemed much more simple. And I got very pretty flowers.

But when i got to the textured background, not a single flower was even. The change of paint might be one of the causes, but the lack of experience and practice is the main cause.

Anyhow, it was a fun project.

Here are the sample flowers I got on the first day, after practice. I was quite happy. They are created with various palette knivesand directly on some rough sketch paper.

This is the second background I tried (the first will be in the project picture). On both backgrounds I overdid the blending. On this one, I added some more pink and turquoise to try to fix it, while the paint was still wet.

And here is the project. On the first backgorund, on which the dark green dominates because again I overdid the blending instead of just flattening down the paint.

No two petals are the same or even. No flower is a bit regular. I started with a bigger knife on the left hand, and after a couple of flowers I changed to a smaller one, but with no good results. Even if it is not nearly as I expected it to come out, I am happy with the result. It is still wet and I hope that the paint won;t change too much when it dries.
