My Sketches, color palette & final painting demonstrated in class
In this project, I’m sharing the results of the art style exercises I demonstrated in class.
A sheet filled with 7 unique sketches and a 7-color palette I created during the exercise.

One finished painting, based on a sketch of a vase, painted with gouache.

Bonus! Extra pages of sketches and the finished artworks I created from them.

Paintings using gouache

Paintings using oil paints

As you can see from the examples, both the paintings created with gouache and those done with oil, the results are surprisingly similar. This is because the colors used in each case were matched to the same chosen color palette for this series of paintings
And here are some other examples of the sketches that I developed using the step-by-step process from the class.
At first, I selected a color palette. And in this case, these were 9 colors.
Then, I chose three of my sketches and used them as the basis for the final paintings you see here.
You can see the first sketch in the top left corner.

The painting below corresponds to the sketch on the left side of the sketch sheet - it's directly beneath the sketch mentioned above.

The next painting changed quite a bit from the original sketch. It started as a horizontal sketch, but I decided to make the final piece vertical, as the composition worked better that way. You can find the original sketch for this one near the center of the sketch layout, slightly above the middle.

I hope these examples inspire you to start creating your own magical artwork.
And I’d love to see how your sketches evolve into finished paintings!
