My Mini Sketching Palette

My Mini Sketching Palette - student project

I chose to set up a small palette made from a mint tin to use as a backup palette, featuring 7 colors.

I chose:

Transparent Yellow (PY150)
Quinacridone Gold (PY150 PR101)
Ruby Red (PV19)
French Ultramarine (PB29)
Phthalo Blue (PB15:1)
Phthalo Green (PG7)
Transparent Burnt Siena (PR101) (all colors by Schmincke).

With these colors I can mix a lot of hues. I included transparent colors to get good mixing results. The French Ultramarine is a granulating color so that I can have a bit of fun with granulation patterns from time to time!

A palette with 7 colors is quite reduced for my taste, but it will still go a long way - I had a lot of fun trying out the different mixes. Here are some of the neutral mixes and green variations I tried out:

All in all, I absolutely enjoyed the process of setting up such a small palette, and seeing what kind of mixes I can get out of it!
