My Abstract Painting - student project

Couldn't wait to start this project! I first gathered my tools and materials.

Next I just started painting random, imperfect circular shapes on my paper.

I added squares and rectangles, with some of them over lapping onto my circles.  I continued to not  make them too perfect.

Triangles in different proportions and overlaid them onto the circles and squares.

Wanting to keep it interesting, I imagined unique and odd shapes and tried to paint them on the page. I ended up combining parts of circles with squares, squares with trianges, enlongating shapes, etc. It was a mind-stretching exercise that really paid off. I got inspired and it gave me more ideas!

So I decided to add open shapes, which are outlines of shapes. I loved them! They added some white space to the painting while giving the eye something to look at.

All done!  I can still keep going but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I can turn the painting any which way since it's an abstract. Now it's your turn.  Have fun and don't worry if it doesn't look like mine.  Your uniqueness is your superpower!!! : )
