Moonlit Fox

Moonlit Fox - student project

This painting is one that I did  a while ago using the subtractive method. I'm including it because it lets you see a potential next step by adding color back again once you've done the initial removing of the paint. I didn't mask out the fox at the beginning. Rather I removed paint in a fox shape and went back in with that foxy red color on top. What that does is to keep the fox in the right kind of color relationship for the rest of the painting. The shadowy blue that was left on the paper after I removed color shines through the red and dulls it down appropriately for this dusky scene.Moonlit Fox - image 1 - student project
