Mixed Media Collage Portrait

Mixed Media Collage Portrait - student project

Another fun  and inspirational class.  My first project isn't really a silhouette but I have a couple more silhouette projects planned. I constructed this with papers I had already created and thought I would never use. The figure is cut from hot press watercolor painted with diluted liquid graphite and textured with salt. Additional lines of liquid graphite and colored pencil  were used for the details.

Black background paper was made with black watercolor paper, gouache, and plastic wrap.

My second attempt at a mixed media silhouette portrait. I'm still not very confident at adding additional lines and colors to the background but I am having fun creating this type of project.

This is totally different with acrylic gouache on black watercolor paper textured with plastic wrap for the background. The silhouettes were cut from paper made with the watercolor salt technique and darkened with PanPastel.
